I have a Delta "touch" faucet in my house (we just redid our kitchen last year) which I like. The touch sensor is a little gimmicky & the sensor blows through batteries. Delta or Symmons if you are trying to keep the price reasonable & Grohe or Hansgrohe if you want something a little more pricey.

I debated about getting another Hyundai because of what you mentioned. But when I weighed all my options and how I was later treated very well by the offending dealer, getting another Hyundai was now on the table again. I still wasn't thrilled by the idea but it was the best option for me all things considered. However, I got my best deal out of state by going to Fairfax VA, so that is where I spent my money

I have been thinking about that too. After the Audi A4 clutch issue incident I swore off VW/Audi products. But, this little Passat is a really fun car to drive. And I like the design and ride of Audi models. As much as I would hate to give them another try, I think I would if that was the car I decided was best for me. Thank goodness I prefer Mercedes at this point in time...it makes it easier, I have no negative experiences so far ;)

Well, I figured it was best not to fly off the handle, go home, get a gun and shoot both the SM and the Service Manager. That wouldn't have been good for any of us.

After all, if I let my emotions get away from me you guys would have been reading about me here on the Edmunds Wanted Forum. Would you really have wanted that? :'(

If I recall, the problem was not with the Jenny1, it was with Jmonroe's wife's XG300, or some model like that.
You're right the problem was with the Mrs. j's 2005 XG350 not my '09 Genny. When I read @jipster's post I thought he meant Hyundai in general but I see where he said "Genny 1".

Thanks for keeping me on my toes although @jipster wouldn't know the difference between a Genny or an XG 350. ;)

    jmonroe
Well, it is very possible that I might buy a Genny at some point, and I don't want anyone making fun of me because jmonroe had one that broke down, and I should have known better.

We got one of these babies about a year ago. Don't know how the performance reviews are but sure does look sleek and modern, kind of like a sports model. It is a Pfister, sounds impressive!

I have not encountered a Pfister toilet in my travels. Related to Price Pfister faucets? Looking at the pic I wonder how that gets held down to the floor. I do see Delta toilets at HD but nowhere else and they are just a bit above their house-brand stuff in price so I wonder how good they actually are. I always liked Delta faucets but when I see a brand name on something the company traditionally never made I get suspicious.

The plumbing supply house guy I liked who was telling me about toilets advised to stay away from the dual-flush models because they needed frequent cleaning due to the lack of water in the bowl. No idea how true that statement is.
One reason my wife liked the pfister model (bought at Lowes in Canada) was because of the plain sides. In that bathroom you see the side of the toilet from the door, and she is a design maven, and she doesn't like those swirly lines they have on most toilets. Looks like it is exposed pipes.

So the smooth sides are actually a skirt, and there are bolts. Not the easiest to install, but it suuuure is pritty!
Those swirly sides looks like a guy with no head, rowing a boat !

Well, if nothing else you won't have to put up with the Hyundai name on the car. As you know, starting with the 2017 model year it's now a GENESIS.

What model are you considering? A G80 or a G90?

Like I said earlier, we re-did the bathroom off our bedroom in 2012. Knocked out a wall to make the room larger, put in a 2 sink vanity, cathedraled the ceiling, the works.

Fast forward to when we had to pick out the faucets. Went to Lowes and Mrs. j really liked a contemporary single handle Grohe faucet that wasn't cheap but why stop now, right? She says to the salesman, "can we get that in brushed nickel rather than what is shown in chrome". He looks it up and says, "yep, here it is but it costs TWICE as much because it would be a special order". Mrs. j says, "seriously" and the salesman said, "yes". She says to me, "I really like that faucet but I don't know if it's worth twice as much in brushed nickel". I just stood there shaking. Finally, she cocks head a few times, touches it again and says, "we'll take the chrome. I have brushed nickel in the kitchen and maybe something different in the bathroom is the way to go". That shocked the hell out of me but it did save us some money. But really, after spending all the bucks for the room itself another four hundred bucks wasn't going to kill me.

At some point in the indeterminate future, our master bath is going to get remodeled. Currently a 5 piece bath, but the tub is wasted space and the shower is tiny. Plan is to demo the tub, expand the shower, move the toilet to the other side, and expand the vanity to increase the amount of storage.

Nice plan. I know what you are headed for.

At one point we were thinking of making the adjoining 4th bedroom part of the original bathroom space remodel so that we would have had the bathroom size like we had when we built our house in SC in '92. After I came to my senses, I knew that only having a 3 bedroom home that was originally a 4 bedroom home would have been the ultimate real estate blunder of committing house suicide. Hence, we settled for just a little more space in comparison.

Not sure when it will happen, there are a couple of projects ahead of it. And, gotta put the money away.

And like so many projects, the final price tag ends up being higher than anticipated. We experienced that when we re did our floors and did a partial update to our kitchen about 2 years ago. Happy to say it was worth it.

The toilet seat for that thing doesn't look like something you'd find at your average home center either.

Here' s the latest reno story: at some point prior to my buying the house, the previous owner took the front corner of the basement and finished it as a bedroom. It looks professionally done but I suspect a permit was never pulled. Probably done by one of his buddies at the golf club we both were members of, likely late '80s or early '90s. When I was buying the house his wife told me they slept down there because it gave them distance from the kids and it was cooler in the summer.

Fast forward to last year when I was having the electrical upgraded. The panel was in a closet there (the closet apparently built around the original panel location). There was a drywalled partition stub wall that separated the end with the electrical panel from the part that held the clothes rod. No matter, all the electrical contractors freaked out when they saw it, said it was against code. Panel had to move. OK, so now it is on a wall in the room and a mirror is hung over it, no big deal.

This week I was looking to get the window in that room upgraded to something more efficient. Right now it is 2 standard 17x36 aluminum slider basement windows, one inside, one outside, but those are old and pretty crummy. I told the window guy what I was doing and he said "A bedroom? I can't put a new window in there if it is a bedroom unless it meets code!" He goes on to describe what kind of window would be needed, measures the opening carefully, thinks he can get something that just fits and will not get him in trouble. When the quote arrives, it is twice the price of the other basement windows because of needing to have the whole area of the opening available for egress. Cripes.

I think someone has slept there for maybe 4 nights in the 19 years I have owned the place.

My wife wanted to put an extra room in the basement "in case guests wanted to stay over". I said, for the number of times that is going to happen it will cost me less to put them in a local motel. Besides, I say, why encourage them?

We've discussed everything from juicers to refrigerators here.
I have had our Whirlpool side-by-side. Some people said they were noisy. The refrigerator is extra quiet.
However, the ice bin is in the door, and if the ice bin has little ice left, when the cubes drop, they fall further
and thus hit with more momentum. The relatively empty plastic bin in the door makes noise and that goes through
the stainless skin of the door and can be heard. It's like the occasional airplane going overhead lower than typical, we got used to it quickly.

Well don't drink so much or drink your whiskey straight.

My wife and I decided to call up the electrician we use and get an estimate on how much it would cost to run a 40 or 50 amp circuit to a 220V outlet in the garage. Level 2 EVSEs(chargers) have dropped so much in price-less than $650-hat I'm considering installing one. I'm virtually certain my wife will want another i3(or it's replacement) and I have to admit that I find the 330e an intriguing prospect- perhaps in a year or two...

Well, if Red calipers don't make the car stop quicker it must mean the calipers are HOT. :(

If you decide to have it installed, I'd go with 50 amp wire. That means #6 gauge copper and that ain't cheap per foot. If the charger only requires a 40 amp circuit that means #8 copper. The circuit breaker should NOT be sized for the wire. It should be sized for the charger amperage rating shown on the nameplate.

The last time I did anything like this (a friend wanted a 220V outlet for a welder), the #6 wire (good for 50 amps)fit into the lugs on the 40 amp breaker (rating of his welder). The larger wire just insures that the wire will not get even the slightest bit warm when charging. This is overkill but this is the way I would do it.

Just to be nosey, let us know what an electrician would charge for this install. Believe it or not if the panel has space for a 40 or 50 amp breaker the installation is really pretty easy. If you get bumped up into needing a new panel, grab your wallet and hold it tight.

    No charge for this advice.

I've had the TPMS light go on for both the Subie and the Genny just last week. Added some air and I should be good till Spring, just like last year at this time.

    @jmonroe,
My wife says her phone app does not indicate low tire pressure.
Will check tomorrow morning when everything is evened out.

Tire pressure should always be checked when the tires are cold. If driven, this is usually after it sits for at least 2 hours to be conservative before reading the pressure. The app is probably reading warm air pressure. FWIW, I would not put a lot of faith in the app reading.

That's why it is best to check tire pressure in the morning after the car has sat over night.

The i3 and the EVSEs I'm considering really only need a 40 amp circuit but I'm inclined to go with 50 amp while I'm at it to "future proof" the installation for the foreseeable future. We have a walk-out basement and garage; the garage is at one end and the breaker box is located in an unfinished storage area at the other end of the basement. The storage area and garage are separated by a finished game room with a drop ceiling- so running the cable probably won't be that hard. I'm going with a plug-in EVSE to simplify any future replacements.

Like I said in my previous post you should install #6 copper wire to handle a 50 amp load but the breaker should be sized for 40 amps if that is the rating of the charger. Sizing the breaker for 50 amps to match the #6 wire will protect the wire but it won't trip until 50 or more amps is reached. Not tripping until 50 amps is reached is not good protection for a charger that should trip at 40 amps. Tripping at 50 amps could harm the charger by not tripping soon enough if there is a problem within the charger. Also like I said earlier, using a 40 amp breaker should allow #6 copper wire to be attached to the breakers connection terminals.

Once you have the #6 wire run, if for any reason you will need 50 amp service for a future charger, all you will have to do is install a 50 amp breaker. They are relatively cheap. I don't think they cost even $30 today for a standard non-ground fault breaker.

    You're choice.

    @jomnroe,
The app only lets you know if the tire pressure is what it considers low.
It has alerted her the 2 times she had to have a tire repaired.
I just checked the tires and they are all @34.5, so a pound and a half down.

There is a downside to the 40-amp breaker IF the load of the charger is fairly close to the 40 amp load. The breaker may "wear" due to the higher current. My range breaker was 40 amp and because difficult to get to turn back on after turning it off. It would trip off when turned on as the range drew a large current as the electronics were charged up.

I did exactly as you recommended on the wiring when I remodeled the kitchen, thanks to the electrician experts working in Lowes department. I replaced the aluminum wiring with heavy copper.

So now when I want some fun one day, I need to pull out our double oven range, bury the outlet into the wall instead of loose under the stove, and install the new breaker (40 amp, even though the stove paperwork says 40 or 50 amp).

It makes a lot of sense. I also think it would be good to have a class once a month at the dealers to show how some features work. Just resetting the air pressure monitoring system takes several steps, or replacing a battery in the key fob, or resetting the clock. I think it would be nice to have a class, and some notes about the features you may not even know the car has, and also learn how to do basic things you will have to use at some point. It is way to much information to learn it all when you pick up the car for the first time.

If someone suggested a story like that to Hollywood it would have been rejected for being to corny.

Sure does make you wonder how things like that can happen. I guess you just have to believe.
