There was a similar situation in California ... the 101 highway had stoplights through Santa Barbara. Wasn't until the late 80's or so that they removed them and replaced with offramps to get into town. Big political stink about the whole thing.

Probably not actually--I use my headlights when I need to, and don't spend inordinate amounts of time on the cell phone while driving, and NEVER text while driving.

We can call it an "accident", but it's ALWAYS because somebody wasn't paying attention.

I am still absolutely stupefied at the number of cars I see driving in the dark with no headlights. I mean, I see it EVERY time I go out at night.

That is what scares the hell out off me, especially when I am turning left or right coming out of parking lots. If someone's lights are out and you are behind them, you at least get a little help from the reflection of the tale lights.

Just plain stupid and I'll never understand it.

Yes those lights really backed up traffic. The problem with that portion of 101 is that it runs through some environmentally fragile areas, so any construction or widening is difficult. Just yesterday one of those offramps flooded during a storm and was closed for the day.

RE.: PA Turnpike--it sure has a lot more visual appeal than any of Ohio's interstates, where I live now!

I used to have to go to Harrisburg maybe once a month or two, a couple or so years back. That's when I got an E-Z pass. I resisted for the longest time, but don't know why--I love it, and can use it in OH and IN too.

Coworkers and I would always stop at the Bob Evans in Breezewood for breakfast. Ask for Susan to serve you. Great lady with excellent sense of humor!

This took my breath away. This is the estimate from a reputable body shop to repair the minor damage that some irresponsible person did to the Pilot.

On a positive note, I sat in a new CR-V EX and EXL. The cloth in the EX is very nice quality and the leather in the EXL seems to be good quality as well. Very impressive overall. The salesman says they are basically sold before they get off the truck.

Ever have a conversation with a non-car person and you're complaining about someone else's carelessness and they're like "Geez, it's only a car". Someone else is making the call for you on what should be important to you, LOL!

On Facebook some time back, I was complaining about today's careless drivers and my fear of being hit from behind in an older car without a CHMSL.

A friend of a friend posted that I should just be quiet and stop complaining about today's drivers and just put a CHMSL in (he didn't use that term, of course).

Yeah, it's not the driver's fault who hits you, it's that you need to add a CHMSL. Shaking my head.

RE Honda Pilot: Any dent is going to cost at least $1500 to take out unless it can be done by the DIY guy that comes around. Is there a chance there is a video of the event?

This stirs up bad memories, and is one of the reasons I couldn't hold onto the S4 for longer. I couldn't bring myself to pay perhaps a thousand dollars for someone else driving negligently.

It's one thing if you hit a Subie or Honda and don't leave a note. It's another thing if you hit an Audi/BMW/Mercedes and don't leave a note! Sort of like theft (misdemeanor), and GRAND THEFT (felony).

I think most responsible people carry 100,000 in property damage coverage for auto insurance. So I've recently heard inane arguments about how if you drive a $200,000 R8 around, you shouldn't expect other people to have insurance to cover it. However, in my opinion, you shouldn't have to expect other people to damage your property through negligent driving either, so I have no sympathy for those that hit a supercar. Sue them for the rest of their lives!

Good question. My wife is going to ask the security desk at her office (it happened in their parking lot) if they have a video or even a note from the person that hit the Pilot.

I'd give up my rear-view cam for a feature that gives surveillance video while I'm parked. Maybe shoot up a drone to take video while your parked and if something collides, fly around and follow them (at least enough to get the license plate number).

GG, I think it is time to be more proactive. btw, the BBB has been sighted for incompetence many times, they are in the business of selling memberships to companies, and if they pay enough they get an A. If they don't pay membership fees they aren't listed or get an F.

Last time I'll say it, call your AG's office, they made up the system, it is their responsibility to see that it works. Call the BBB and talk to someone higher up and ask them how they can be so incompetent? Tell them you are talking to the AGs office as they aren't doing their job the way they are supposed to.

Calling AG might help, might not, waiting for these morons to do something is going nowhere fast..

Speaking of wishing Shingles upon evildoers, I'd like the appraiser for my DV claim hired by the Insurance company to get it.

I agree. We need to change the english language so that accidents are either called Negligents, or driver error collisions. I vote for NEGLIGENTS!

An accident is when you get a bee sting, a tire blowout, and unintended acceleration all at the exact same time

CHMSL = Center High Mount Stop Lamp, the 3rd rear brake light mandated for cars for MY 1986 (I think MY 1994 for trucks).

This makes me mad just reading about it! Holy Cow! Is there a way to speak with a manager at the BBB or have they shielded them so no one can reach them? I hope you've gone through the worst of it and things turn for the better. Yes, a refund is in order.

Tired of fighting with these fools, quite honestly...Cadillac, GM, BBB, none of them are helpful, let alone customer focused. Clearly, THEY JUST DON'T CARE! As before, they deny and delay. That's their SOP. I know the legal route is glacier slow, but not sure it's any worse than doing the BBB thing.

Rant over!

Due to global warming (the world did just have many consecutive record hot years), they say the glaciers might speed up their movement, so their might be hope for the legal route! :

I don't get that mentality either. I think the people that don't give a damn about cars all work at body-shops in CA, based on the workmanship I've seen at them. For people that don't care about the car they drive, I can understand how that type of workmanship would be given a pass.

One thing I don't like are those huge skinny steering wheels, but other than that it looks like a great buy.

Next Tuesday 2-14-17 Hays Auctions in Louisville KY will be selling 3 super low mile cars.

2007 Mustang Shelby GT500 Cobra with 750 miles.

1977 Corvette with 2393 miles.

1996 Corvette with 2302 miles

1966 Mustang with 51710 miles.

Not much info, just a single photo of each car and the VIN # on Hays website. Says they are from a KY estate.

I'm not arguing with you BUT:

I have an interesting story about the Bob Evans in Breezewood. Last February (2016) we went with Son #1 and his family to a hockey tournament in the DC area for his 2 hockey playing sons and we stopped at the Breezewood Bob Evans.

Time to tune out @driver100.

Our experience was not at all like what you have had. It was so bad that we did something we almost never do, we asked to talk to the manager. The manager came over and apologized for the way the food was prepared and that is all he did, apologized. Gave us a line about how their menu has changed for a few items, so it was "out of his hands". Didn't even offer to take anything off our bill in any way, which I really was not expecting based on his hands off approach. My Son said, "I'll never stop here again" and I said, "they will never miss us. The only way to even try to get results is to stop the next time, let them see the size of the group, tell them the story, hope it is the same manager, and walk out". He said, "do you really think I'm going to do that"? I said, "until you and me and people like us are willing to spend a little time to get our displeasure out, they will never fix it. Other than doing something like that, it is just idle talk, talk, talk, talk".

I think we have all heard of people buying cars and going back to a dealer to show them the car they bought and showing the bill of sale showing a lower price that was IMPOSSIBLE for that dealer to sell at. I never did that but back in the mid 70's, a couple fellow employees did it. It may never have changed anything but they felt better doing it. Maybe our poster buddy @isellhondas has a tale about this.

FWIW, we still go to the Bob Evans around us and although they have changed their menu, I don't have a problem with the local franchise. But I will say that Mrs. j does not like the up-charge "egg whites" replacement for the previous up-charge "egg beaters" she used to order. To which I say, "at least now you know they didn't serve you regular eggs that look like the old "egg beaters". The "egg whites" are really WHITE but they just don't look right to me. That's why I never order them.

Another FWIW, your server Susan, just like a lot car salesmen, is probably not there anymore.

Like I said, just my story about a bad Bob Evans experience, not questioning you.

I have no idea what that Rolls is worth and I was hoping Shifty would chime in. He may be is shock that I would consider such a car! Seriously, in my opinion those were the last of the really classy Rolls Royces. Probably a nightmare to keep on the road! It might be hard to find a "Nigel" with the desire or knowhow to work on it. I know if I owned a shop I would turn it away out of fear that we just might break something.

Still, talk about a car that commands attention and respect.....not that I need any of that!

Plain 'ol Silver Shadow steel saloon has a median auction price of around $10,000, sooooo....one could call this a bit "pricey". However, if indeed it has up to date maintenance and repair records, that's a big plus and might be worth the extra $$$.

You could have it checked by the Rolls specialist beforehand to see if it has "needs". The problem with these, even though they are wonderful in many ways, is that these "needs" are the needs of the ballerina or the operatic tenor, not the librarian or the accountant. So you have to prepare yourself for the cost, say, of a routine brake job for $6,000. You can't buy used brakes and Midas is not going to be able to do the job for you.

I'd consider it for $10K cash if it's really nice. Appreciation / investment potential is near zero, so you have to know when to bail. It's a bit riskier than a used Mercedes 560SEL or a BMW 750 V-12--not because those cars are any more reliable, but because even they cost less to repair.

We have a Bob Evans next to the Denny's we like. The Evans place is always packed, it gets about 4 or 5X as much business as Dennys. But, we have never liked Evans, not that one or any of the one's we have tried.

A lot depends on the individual franchises, and what staff they have at the time...particularly the chef.

I have 280 reviews on tripadvisor. If you get a bad meal it is a good place to go to warn others, and to get some revenge for your poor quality food.

Thank you, I try to keep them nice. Certainly no biggie, an inconvenience for sure. I have learned not to get wound up about stuff like this. If it was a collectible or something special, then a different matter. It will be repaired. On a positive note, some door dings will be fixed, too!

Not a great investment per se, but it is probably as nice of an early Shadow as you'll find. I like it, but I would be a little scared of it. I talked to the owner several times, I seem to recall the hydraulics had been rebuilt in the past several years.

With very good luck, that Rolls will cost you about .50 cents per mile. With some luck, $2 a mile. With bad luck....well.....it's a slippery, steep and scary slope. For the experience, perhaps it is worth it on the lower end of the cost spectrum.

I've always referred to it as the third brake light. I've heard some call it the cyclops light. CHMSL was lost on me--quite the mouthful.

Deep pockets mandatory! Is the RR so unique that the hydraulic suspension cannot be converted to standard springs and shocks? I know that kills collectibility, but if you just want a weekend driver..

Of course, I wasn't very serious about that Rolls but I was very curious as to it's value. I guess I expected it would be worth more but I'm not surprised either. I can imagine a set of wiper blades would have to be
ordered from England and would cost three hundred dollars!

In any event I thought all of you would enjoy taking a look.. It is a very CLASSY car but it would take a very special and very brave soul to own it for sure!
