I'm trying to decide between two offers and I am leaning to just walking. I've negotiated 13% off MSRP of $47,340 which equals $41,185 at one dealer with a base MF of 0.00118 and 13.9% off MSRP of $47,890 which equals $41,225 at another dealer with base MF of but am thinking about walking.
Both dealers are pushing an acquisition fee of $1,095 vs. MBF fee of $795. The additional fees are doc $168 doc fee, $101 plates, $95 for title, and $25 for electronic filing. There are no other fees.
A few questions, when thinking about this should I roll the acquisition fee into the cap cost that way if the car gets totaled I don't lose that money?
Additionally, one dealer is trying to roll the sales tax into the net cap cost while keeping the use tax outside of the cap cost (I am in Chicago where there is a 9.5% sales tax and an additional 9% use tax), is this correct?
13% off is pretty strong; dealer is making up for the large discount by marking up the acquisition fee.
You can add the acquisition fee to the cap cost if you want.
I wasn't aware of two separate taxes for leases in Chicago .. I thought only the sales tax applied.
Ok, last question(s). I have a dealer giving me 15% off MSRP. They are pushing back though and essentially telling me that the acquisition fee is $1095 (not willing to discount it anymore) and the base MF is 0.00139 on the C300 4MATIC. They are indicating that the C300 is 0.0018 but the C300 4Matic is 0.00139. They are also allowing me to do MSD's which was indicated was only available on base MF earlier. This would also indicate that they aren't lying to me since I plan to use the MSD and they modeled out a payment with me using MSDs. Can you please confirm the following...
What is the base MF on 2015 c300 4Matic? Are MBF acquisition fees different regionally? Are base MF different regionally?
Also, they are putting the state, county, and city tax into the cap cost? Is this usual? There are a couple of dealers doing that in this area. Then they apply the use tax to the entire payment.
btw, did I mention I really dislike leasing in IL and going back and forth with these guys. Almost there.

1) Base MF is .00119 for C300 AWD, everywhere.. they are marking up the rate (but, not a lot) 2) Base acquisition fee is $795, everywhere. They are marking it up the max allowed ($300) 3) If you can use MSDs on the subvented rates, that's great.. MBFS seems to be all over the map on restrictions, and seems to allow things willy-nilly.
Can't really speak for Illinois taxes.. if it makes you feel any better, they are a lot less than they used to be, but if you register the car in Chicago, you really get pounded.
You have to balance the markups against a great price, and being able to use MSDs.

What kind of payment are they coming up with?
Thanks. I could have probably pushed it and walked away again but I had walked away twice already (which allowed me to get to the 15% MSRP) and the extra few dollars wasn't as big of a deal for me b/c I used the MSD program. I also was sick of dealing with dealers and needed to get back to work. I just didn't like that I knew the guy was lying to me as I had other dealers walk me through leasing terms and they were lower on the base rate. If you're not willing to budge on the terms due to MSRP just say that. Importantly, this was the closest dealer to me and they were the only one within 100 miles that had the exact exterior/interior color combination my wife and I wanted. For the extra few bucks, we just went with it. The details worked out to
Lease Terms: 36/10 MSRP: 46,370 Negotiated Price: 39,414 Acquisition Fee: 1095 Sales Tax: 1,348 (which is bundled into the cap cost. 9.5% rate) Net Cap Cost: 43,097.37 (includes additional $850 for 2 year maint and $398 in title, license, registration, doc fees, etc) MF: .00059 which includes the 10 MSD payments and autopay discount Chicago Use Tax: 9% (use this like a regular tax rate) Monthly Payment: $466.85 (Without the maint it was $453 I believe)
Thanks for all the help everyone and also to you kyfdx for the time you spend moderating the board. I appreciate it and it helped tremendously. We now have the car in our possession and are happy.

Thanks. I forgot to mention I was also able to utilize my cash back credit card (without any fees) for the MSD and first payment so I will get 2% cash back on that.

What should be my MF and Residual.
Is 547 a good deal given I am paying 2000 down.
.00119 MF and 61% residual
Just using your MSRP and selling price, I get $556/mo.
OTD might be their term or your term, but that doesn't mean that's everything. Your $2000 due at signing probably includes 1st payment, $795 acq.fee ($1095 if it's marked up) and some sort of dealer/document fee.. That doesn't leave much left for a CAP reduction.
Ask the dealer for the net or adjusted CAP cost, and see how that differs from the $50K, then ask how your $2000 is being applied.
Thanks to this site I think we got a pretty good deal on a 2015 C300 in South Florida:

Thanks for providing the residual and money factor numbers that helped us to get this deal. This site is amazing!

Hi, i am new to the forum and had some questions. Looks like many dealers ad discounting 2015 C Class Sedans up to $6000-8000 for lease deals. Would the same apply for financing? I.E. would I be able to negotiate down the selling price the same amount for buying?
I typically like to purchase my cars CPO, but with discounts this high...there really isn't much of a difference between new and CPO vehicles in the Houston, TX area.

We aren't familiar with the incentives on this vehicle, so it's hard to say. Except for a few exceptions, incentives for purchase are usually as much or greater than a lease.
Any word on residual and MF info for the new C450 AMG Sport ? Word has it the numbers should be released today... I'm specifically interested in 36/10 numbers but folks would probably be interested in all of them if you happen to have them. Thanks !

These are all for 36 months which is their standard lease. 30 months would be 2 points higher across the board and 24 months would be 5 points higher.
Thanks for the information ... I confirm the residual amounts, but the standard MF has always been a bit of a mystery. We've heard it fluctuates between .00180 and .00220, but that could be old information.

It's possible a MB thing but I don't like the MF offered when I look on the interest charge over 36% months ($2400). It is corresponding to 2.83%. Hyundai Genesis has MF 0.00022, equal 0.5%. What are the strategies with MB to lower the MF? I have an excellent credit. I offered a security deposit and for $400, the broker lowered it to 0.00111. Would offering more deposits (2-3 more) lower it further ? Also here I read that an autopay would help ? What would be the lowest MF attainable ?
My current offer I am still not happy with is for a base C300 with a blind spot assist and rear camera ($1,010), MSRP $40,660 total, $390/month and $1600 upfront cost. Good enough ?

The base MF is as low as you can get with top tier credit without using multiple security deposits. We've been getting inconsistent information as to whether MBFS allows MSD on subvented MF (ie, not standard).

I have been using this site for several years and the information is invaluable. Thanks to the moderators for all they do. I just wanted to share my experience with everyone. I started looking for a C400 about a month ago. I wasn't finding many new cars, but I did find several loaner cars with a few thousand miles. I went back and forth between a few dealers, playing them off each other and I finally got the car I wanted at a great price. My suggestion is to ask the dealers about these loaner cars. They seem to have a lot more wiggle room with them. You might not get exactly the color you want, but you can save hundreds a month. My final deal for a C400 with an MSRP of $54,235 was $450 a month with zero down for 3 years. All taxes, fees etc. were in that payment. It was a sign and drive lease. My advice is that if you have the time and patience take a look at this option.

2015 C300 Sport Package MSRP:44355 Sell Price: 38525.53 Sale Tax: 3090.76 (estimate) Weight Fee: 24 Tax/Regs: 321 (estimate) County Fee: 10 E Filing Fee: 29 Smog Abatement: 20 Doc Fee: 80
Balance Due: 44120.29 (estimate)
1k Down 36 months 12k miles
Monthly $477 tax incl.
I've shopped around and this seems competitive. Orange County, CA
First off, only the monthly payment is taxed on leases in CA, not the entire selling price. If I adjust the cap cost to exclude the sales tax ($39,009), and use 61% residual and .00118 MF, I get a pre-tax payment of $394/mo. If the tax rate is 9% in OC, the payment goes to $429/mo.
I'd confirm that the dealer is using the base MF and aren't inflating it on you.

2) Base acquisition fee is $795, everywhere. They are marking it up the max allowed ($300)
3) If you can use MSDs on the subvented rates, that's great..

I am planning to lease Benz 2015 c300w4 and I live in VA.
Car details –
Exterior – White
Interior – Red
Sports, Multimedia, interior package,Illuminated star, rear deck spoiler, blind spot, parktronic, panarama roof, head up display, sport suspension, LED head lamps, 19” wheels
Dealer offer
MSRP – 55000
OTD – 50000
Lease – 547 with $2000 down for 3 years/12K miles which includes all tax and other charges
What should be my MF and Residual.
Is 547 a good deal given I am paying 2000 down.
(your deal looks decent, if it includes VA tax)

I typically like to purchase my cars CPO, but with discounts this high...there really isn't much of a difference between new and CPO vehicles in the Houston, TX area.

Money factor is .00240 which is the standard rate which may fluctuate to
.00210 in standard form.
Residuals are:
15,000 miles=56%
12,000 miles=58%
10,000 miles=59%
7500 miles=60%
These are all for 36 months which is their standard lease.
30 months would be 2 points higher across the board and 24 months would be 5
points higher.
24/12 residual - 67%
36/12 residual - 61%

Yes, autopay will reduce the MF by .00010

zero down 397 a month plus taxes and Main.
Is that really good?
Please let me know asap! I'll pick it up tonight!
We don't recommend making a down payment on a lease - if the car is stolen or totaled, you lose that money.

Super cheap...Where is this? But also, how many miles & lease term?
I'd confirm that the dealer is using the base MF and aren't inflating it on you.
