First time car buying(+leasing) experience at dealership in my life. After browsing this forum, I am relieved that I told them I would think about the deal at home and walked away today. Seems like they were trying to rip me off?
2015 4matic c300 sedan (location: MA)
diamond white, premium pack 1, front heat, blind assist... MSRP: 47,895 Discount: 4380 Adjusted Sale Price: 43515
Tax: 2741.5 Tag and Title fee: 163 Documentation fee: 349
Total: 46768.5 (they added tax based on whole price, but I just learned MA doesn't tax whole price!!)
Didn't get numbers for MF (I have 700-720 credit score)
I was hesitating because it was much higher than I expected. The guy asked for my company name and after few mins he bsed about company discount and brought down price to 439/mo 36mo terms 3500 down. I still didn't like it and wanted copy of quote and 1 week to think about the deal. I was about to leave then his manager came to me. He showed me other c300s that were on demo and offered me 396 /mo for same term. It wasn't in the color (white or dia white) so I declined. he said he could do 420 for the dia white one. I still walked away because I wanted to do research on the price. Glad I did. Also they were requiring $1000 deposit down before they check the real rates. I didn't like that either.
I called other dealership near boston and they said they do 12% off MSRP and $1250 off after that. Based on my calculations I was getting approximately $400 mo with 0 down and $300 mo with 3500 down based on numbers and assumptions from this forum (thanks Michaell and others in here). Is $300 mo (3500 down) or $400 with 0 down possible or is it too theoretical and not practical numbers? Should I aim for these or bit higher for 2015 C300s that has MSRP of ~47000-48000? Clearly, I am not going back to dealership who quote me 420~470 with $3500 down.
(Edit: My last calculation seems to be off or too optimistic. Maybe I should aim for $350 to $360 mo with $3500 down for cars with MSRP 48000?)
First, we don't recommend making a down payment on a lease - if the car is stolen or totaled, you lose that money.
Second, the 36/7.5 lease numbers on the 2015 C300 4Matic are .00119 and 63%.
Use the following article to build your own spreadsheet to calculate the lease payment:
And, I think you can get more of a discount from sticker than what the dealer is offering - you might want to reach out to a number of dealers and get them to negotiate against one another.
I came up with these numbers with spreadsheet: MSRP 49000. sales price after 12% off and then another $1250 off. 36mo, 7500 mi, 0.00119, 63% residual, also assuming 795 accuisition fee, 510 doc, title, registration fee
including MA 6.25% tax 0 down: 457 1000 down: 426 3500 down: 349 (I will take your advice and try to pay less or equal to $1000 upfront)
I will try the other dealership today. They said over the phone they are doing 12% off MSRP and another $1250 manufacturer incentive. From that price, if they use correct formula, base MF, and residual, I should get price close to the above, right? I will post experience tonight.

Using your numbers ($41,870 selling price), I get $417/mo after tax.
Are you adding in the fees to this?
Money due at signing is not the same thing as a down payment ... the acquisition fee, doc fee, title and registration costs are due up front, or can be added into the cap cost.

I see. I got 416.62 like yours by not adding the fees. Yes, I thought money due at signing was the same as down payment. First dealership I visited called it out of pocket expenses. The lowest they quoted for out of pocket expense was like $2200 and they said it included tax. So should I expect to pay those fees and first month lease at sign? Then can I subtract one month lease amount from cap cost as if it was down payment?

You pay the first payment at signing, then just have 35 more payments.. You don't deduct the payment from the CAP cost.
Hello. Can you give me an opinion if this is a reasonable deal?Too many numbers spinning in my head to be sure anymore. 2016 C-300 36 months/7500 miles Pennsylvania 9% MSRP 46,320 Sale price 40,280 MF .00152 Residual - I think 64%. Forgot to write it down but it seems to work with the numbers Acq fee - 995 (a bit high I know) Doc/ gov fees 382.14 Due at signing - 1,815 (includes acq/doc/gov fees and first month payment) Monthly payment $437.86 - auto pay will bring it down another 4-5 dollars so say $433 The numbers seem to work out ok if I'm doing the math correctly. Mostly curious if the sale price should be lower or if it, and the monthly payment, seem reasonable. Thanks for any input you can give.

.00152 MF and 64% residual is correct. I get $401/mo.+tax, so that's right on the money.
Can you make it on 7.5K mi/yr? 10K/yr only adds $13.25 per month.. That's cheap for an extra 7500 miles
@kyfdx 7500 should be fine. Turning in a 24 month lease and put on less than 9000 total. I'm glad to hear the numbers seem to come out right, but was wondering if the sales price/monthly payment seemed a little high and I should try to get them lower or if the whole deal seemed reasonable. Thanks
Got quote today of final price for 2016 c300 at 45,137 before tax. Told them I was buying. Now want to lease for 3 years, 12 k/ yr, with 1500 down to cover all costs. What should I expect to pay per month? Live in New York, Long Island.
Thanks moderators, here's my experience from yesterday:
c300 4MATIC 2015 MSRP 49020 Sale Price 41138 (seems like 12% off and $2000 off) 7500miles 36mo Residual 31032.60 excess mileage charge: 25 c disposition fee: 595
Pre-tax monthly: 399.38 Monthly: 424.34 (MA 6.25% tax)
Due at sign 1st mo: 424.34 doc fee: 395 acquisition fee: 1095 fees and ins: 132.5 (wth is this?) upfront taxes: 68.44 (tax on what? too high for 1st month payment tax)
total 2115.28 due at sign
When making deal, I knew acq fee is marked up and it wasn't Base MF(I couldn't back out number on spot, now i have it tho, calculated to be 0.001646! I qualified for tier 1 there with 725 score), but discount was about 1000 more than my initial expectation so I decided to take it as it was getting offset a bit. Then I parted with sales person and was greeted by somewhat pushy and rude business manager who tried to sell me 3yr/30k prepaid maintenance for $850 (23.5 or so for 3yr). He was BSing that it's like $1250 if purchasing a car, you are leasing so you get discount blah blah great deal, most of benz lessors get it stuff. I'm on 36mo 75k lease and this was total BS. I would not even hit 20k when I return the car and why get 3rd year service when returning car at the end of 3rd year...? He was being rude so it made me rethink about the whole deal again. I walked away because it was 8:30PM already. I honestly could have taken it if he offered fair deal on prepaid maintenance. Now I don't want it even if I opt out of maintenance. The car was good but it didn't have exact combination of colors and options I was hoping for.
Are there usually fees and tax like that as written above? When I asked how upfront tax is calculated sale guy said he doesn't know.

1) Looks like they have some sort of residualized maintenance figured in, as the residual doesn't match up, otherwise. Either that or a typo on the MSRP or residual.
2) As noted, the acquisition fee is marked up by $300.
3) The tax is on the acquisition and doc fee, most likely. For sure, the acquisition fee is taxable.
4) Fees and insurance is probably title/registration.
5) I get a pre-tax payment that is about $29/mo. less using the base MF of .00119 and 63% residual. So, either something else added to the CAP cost, or the MF is marked up.

Finalized the deal! After walking away from 3rd dealership, contacted the other one (4th, a lot of MB dealers in greater boston area), sales guy was really nice and we agreed on the deal solely through emails. He was very quick and nice, gave me numbers that I exactly asked for, and assured me there is no hidden fee after this.
2015 4MATIC MSRP 49080 discount 8000 sale price 41080 upfront 1700 monthly 410 including tax and fee added 2yr ppm for 14/mo final: 425/mo
Their showroom was fantastic and nothing like I've ever seen. People I talked to there were all nice. Seems like they are closed on Sunday unlike other dealerships around the area, for families. Really pleasant experience, and I thank everyone who helped me to reach this deal, saved couple thousand $$$ compared when I went to first dealership in Boston.

Working on finalizing a deal as well. 2015 4Matic Sport. Previous customer loaner, bit over 4000 miles. Any thoughts on these figures?
2015 4MATIC Sport MSRP: $48,085 Sale Price: $41,000 Residual Value: $29,467.70 MF: .00142 Upfront: 0 (just title/first month payment) Term: 36/10,000 Final: $470.00 after taxes (Ohio)
MF is marked up on you .. base is .00119.
Residual should be adjusted to account for the 4000 miles .. not sure of the exact amount, but somewhere between .10-.25/mile. But, you should be able to get more off sticker because of that.
Read through the last page or two of this thread to see what others have been able to negotiate.
You don't happen to have the November numbers yet by any chance? Trying to decide if we should sign a lease on a 2015 C300 today or wait until tomorrow (36 month/10,000 miles). Thanks very much as always!

Current MB numbers are valid through 11/2/15. New numbers available later this week.
How does this deal look? I'm thinking about pulling the trigger tomorrow.
2015 C300 4Matic Sport
MSRP: $50,315
Sales Price: $42,942
Term: 36 months
Residual: 61%
MF: .00109
Sales Tax: 8.5%
Miles: 10,000
Drive Off: $499
Monthly Payment: $499 (includes tax and pre-paid maintenance)
If the sale price is the CAP cost, then $420/mo.+tax.
Would need to know the CAP cost to check the calculations. Looks pretty good, but need to know what else is rolled in.
Sales price is the price they came down to. It does not include a $1095 acquisition fee or the $750 prepaid maintenance. I'll ask for the cap cost today.
Wait...isn't the cap cost the agreed upon sales price of the car? Which wouldn't include extra fees like acquisition cost, admin fees, and prepaid maintenance?
Wait...isn't the cap cost the agreed upon sales price of the car? Which wouldn't include extra fees like acquisition cost, admin fees, and prepaid maintenance?
Gross cap cost is just the selling price
Net cap cost is:
sales price plus taxes and fees you choose to roll in less any down payment (cap cost reduction)
So I ordered a $54k RWD C300 and went in to negotiate a deal this evening. I was presented a ridiculous payment initially of over $800 per month with 2k down. I ran all the numbers provided in this forum and used the tools on this site to come up with a payment of $518 (assuming a discount of 12%, residual of 63% and base MF for 36 months/10,000 miles).
I discovered that not only did they inflate the MF from .00142 up to .00192, they claimed that they only have 6% of margin on C's. The finance manager came over and eventually priced it at what they claim was invoice (showed me some kind of sheet of paper listing it at $51k) which is still a payment of over $700. I have a very hard time believing their numbers given the great deals everyone here has been getting. Am I in outer-space for thinking that something around $500 per month with $2k down is reasonable on a very well equipped C300?
I am very disappointed with this offer considering the C250 I am in from the same dealership runs me $409 per month. I understand that I special ordered the C300 and it is a 2016 model, but there just can't possibly be this big of a gulf in my numbers and theirs. Will consider shopping another dealer this Wednesday.
Consumers are betting fleeced by dealers who are looting us - bargain and hustle. DO not settle for anything more than $500- $550/mo with tax on a C300 with 54k msrp
Also what is this crap with Mercedes regarding in stock deals?
Mercedes is not Hyundai or Nissan - every car we order should a la carte shopping experience
BMW has much better ordering system - no need to buy off the lot.
Maybe we should all teach Mercedes a lesson in 2016

Selling price was $51,741 or something like that which equates to a less than 6% discount. They claimed this was their invoice price. The car had 13 miles on the odometer when I went and test drove it, which leads me to believe perhaps they found someone else that wants to buy it and/or someone at the dealer wants it for themselves. Even the salesman was lamenting the fact that all of the cars the manager orders are poorly equipped (halogens, non-sport pkg etc). No one in their right mind would lease a 4 cylinder C Class for $700-800 per month. Needless to say, very shady and disappointing experience with that dealer.
Hi guys, was hoping someone could give me an idea at the type of deal I am looking at.
2016 C300 MSRP 44955
36 months 7500 miles per year 1656.88 t.o.p 465 per month 8.875 percent tax (NY) Residual was 63 percent if I remember correctly, and the mf was .00144. The discount was roughly 4400 dollars off MSRP, and all fees and taxes were included.

Thank you.
.00144 is the MF if you are using autopay, otherwise it is .00154.
36/7500 residual is 65%.
If I use $40,455 as the net cap cost, I get $415.32/mo before tax.
NY collects lease sales tax up front; you can pay it at the start of the lease or add it to your selling price.
Find out what the dealer is using as their net cap cost, and what that number includes.
Does numbers (money factor, residual ) change for leasing a pre owned 2015 ? 3 yr lease, 10k miles. thanks
We don't have any lease information on pre-owned vehicles.
Has it been titled, or is this a loaner or executive demo?
Doesn't say on the ad. Just emailed the Internet Manager to find out. Fine print "Advertised 36 month lease payment of a pre-owned 2015 Mercedes-Benz C300 with MSRP of $40,690 based on an adjusted capitalized cost of $33,495. Excludes title, taxes, registration, license fees, insurance and additional options. Total lease payments equal $10,764. $1095 acquisition fee added to cap cost. $299 due at signing, and first month payment of $299. Total payments equal $11,373. At lease end, lessee pays for any amounts due under the lease, any official fees and taxes related to the scheduled termination, excess wear and use plus $0.25/mile over 7,500 miles, and $595 vehicle turn-in fee. Purchase option at lease end for $25,228 plus taxes"

Dealer replied.
Service loaners. They are 2015's and have around 3000 and 5000 miles. These are pretty basic at this payment but do come with the rear view camera and heated seats. The net cap cost is around $33,300. The money factor is .00119 and the payment would go up about $15 per month for the 10,000 mile per year lease.
Is there numbers for 2015 service loaners? Since it's already a year old I would probably want them to roll in Service plan and tire/wheel protection.

Second, the 36/7.5 lease numbers on the 2015 C300 4Matic are .00119 and 63%.
Use the following article to build your own spreadsheet to calculate the lease payment:
http://www.edmunds.com/car-leasing/calculate-your-own-lease-payment.html
And, I think you can get more of a discount from sticker than what the dealer is offering - you might want to reach out to a number of dealers and get them to negotiate against one another.

I came up with these numbers with spreadsheet:
MSRP 49000. sales price after 12% off and then another $1250 off.
36mo, 7500 mi, 0.00119, 63% residual, also assuming 795 accuisition fee, 510 doc,title,registration fee
including MA 6.25% tax
0 down: 457
1000 down: 426
3500 down: 349 (I will take your advice and try to pay less or equal to $1000 upfront)
I will try the other dealership today. They said over the phone they are doing 12% off MSRP and another $1250 manufacturer incentive. From that price, if they use correct formula, base MF, and residual, I should get price close to the above, right? I will post experience tonight.
Are you adding in the fees to this?
Money due at signing is not the same thing as a down payment ... the acquisition fee, doc fee, title and registration costs are due up front, or can be added into the cap cost.

Due at signing - 1,815 (includes acq/doc/gov fees and first month payment)
Monthly payment $437.86 - auto pay will bring it down another 4-5 dollars so say $433
The numbers seem to work out ok if I'm doing the math correctly. Mostly curious if the sale price should be lower or if it, and the monthly payment, seem reasonable.
Thanks for any input you can give.
Can you make it on 7.5K mi/yr? 10K/yr only adds $13.25 per month.. That's cheap for an extra 7500 miles

7500 should be fine. Turning in a 24 month lease and put on less than 9000 total. I'm glad to hear the numbers seem to come out right, but was wondering if the sales price/monthly payment seemed a little high and I should try to get them lower or if the whole deal seemed reasonable. Thanks

$490/mo.+tax
$1500 should cover your first payment and the $795 acquisition fee, but maybe not quite enough to pay the DMV fees.

Residual should be adjusted to account for the 4000 miles .. not sure of the exact amount, but somewhere between .10-.25/mile. But, you should be able to get more off sticker because of that.
Read through the last page or two of this thread to see what others have been able to negotiate.

sales price plus taxes and fees you choose to roll in less any down payment (cap cost reduction)

I get $514/mo if I add the maintenance and acq fee to the sales price.

Maybe we should all teach Mercedes a lesson in 2016
2016 C300 MSRP 44955
36 months
7500 miles per year
1656.88 t.o.p
465 per month
8.875 percent tax (NY)
Residual was 63 percent if I remember correctly, and the mf was .00144.
The discount was roughly 4400 dollars off MSRP, and all fees and taxes were included.
How am I looking if I take this?
Thank you.

Thanks Michaell. Would you possibly know if there are an cash incentives or discounts on the car currently?
I don't have any incentive information with my documents. Use the "Car Research" tab at the top of the page to link to Edmunds' incentive pages.

"Advertised 36 month lease payment of a pre-owned 2015 Mercedes-Benz C300 with MSRP of $40,690 based on an adjusted capitalized cost of $33,495.
