where did you purchase it on line? $250 is a very good price.

Also, when you buy one, can you order with the color of your car? A dealer told me that I have to paint it myself. I do not know anything about it, so I just took his word although I have doubts.

The Accord is listed as one of the most stolen vehicles but that typically is due to older models that chopshops like to get. The newer models won't be affected for quite some time.

Lojack is not available all over North America and as such is not sold in many states. In reality, since Honda has few factory options, they wouldn't offer a regional product as factory installed. That is up to the dealers. IMHO, Lojack is great idea if it is available in your area, you park in high risk areas, and the police have nothing better to do than track your car.

It can provide peace of mind to the individual who buys it.

Any color your heart desires. Its an original OEM part. Honda made. I purchased mine from HANDAaccessories.com. Good luck.

Been looking at a Garmin StreePilot III, about $630 after-rebate. Appeal includes portability, affordability, no monthly charge, and voice prompts (but won't take voice commands).

Responses to this post could benefit Accord w/NAVI shoppers, though personally it's an after-the-fact input for me (already bought an 03 coupe w/o NAVI).

    Thanks in advance...

I use a Garmin Etrex for navigation in my 03. The benefits far outweigh the installed option.

-portable, when we travel I can take the GPS with me
-I also use the GPS on my bike & MC

I use a suction cup mount for the windsheid so I can see it easily. At night I just turn the GPS' light on.

One thing that is nice about the Street pilot is that it auto routes and is easier to see at say 20 inches.

Of course the built in Navi is probably the best from a visibility standpoint.

I have a 2002 Accord Coupe EX-V6...and plan to replace the speakers and add an amp. I read on another board that adding an amp would most likely cause some hiss ("signal-to-noise ratio")based on a guess that the stock Accord system has an integrated amp such that all audio output is
speaker-level (no "pre-amp" output). Meaning, adding an external amp that reduces this output to pre-amp level only to boost it again for the
speakers wouldn't help with clean sound." Any truth to this??? I plan to have the upgrades installed Saturday...so please HELP!!!

Also, anyone tint their windows...is there anyway to get around the bubbling over the dot-matrix pattern on the rear window?

Anyone know if the 16" steel wheels on a 2003 Accord V6 will work on a 2003 Accord 4 cyl?
  • atlantabennyatlantabenny Member Posts: 735
Yes, since all 03 Accords have the same bolt pattern (5 x 114.3) and offset (+55mm).
  • northwest1northwest1 Member Posts: 65
Thanks for your reply about the wheels...do you happen to know if the wheels on an Element are also the same bolt pattern and offset?
  • atlantabennyatlantabenny Member Posts: 735
...have the same 5 x 114.3 bolt pattern per tires.com. Don't have info though on offset but I'm guessing that it's near +55 mm if not exactly that (since it has the engine/tran/drivetrain config of the Accord). All current gen Acura CL and TL, including TSX, have the 03 Accord's wheel specs as well. Hope this helps.

I'm looking for all-weather mats that have slightly higher sides than those offered by Honda. I live in the Midwest and I want mats that will really contain all of the snow and muck. The sides of the rubber mats from Honda don't look high enough to contain very much water, snow, etc.

    Any recommendations will be appreciated.

Does anyone know if the door visors cover the chrome trim on the top of the doors when they are installed? Thanks in advance.

Does anyone knows If there is any after market vendors making fog lights for '03 accords?
I dislike the way accord oem fog lights are design.
Do you think that the Acura TL fog lights will will fit the accord?
  • storm11storm11 Member Posts: 38
Km1a: I installed Hella's on an '02 EXL V6. They are very powerful and far more inexpensive than Honda fogs (for the '02's, Honda's fogs were $250-$300). See my post #'s
229, 237 and 245 for information and installation guidelines.
    Good luck.
  • atlantabennyatlantabenny Member Posts: 735
Good question. The Acura link below suggests some medium-heavy modification to adapt the TL's angular lights to the Accord's roundish bumper cut-out (...of the coupe. Sedan has no cut-out at all, requiring more skill to do).

Based on the CL which also has those lower bumper lights, there's even a chance that the TL's are "driving," not fog lights but I may be wrong.

I just tinted my 03 accord coupe and to solve the problem of the dot at the top of the rear window. They painted over the dots with black paint since the tint that I picked was the very dark tint. If you tint over those dots the tint will bubble.

I am thinking about upgrading my factory stereo. Does anyone know if I can retain my steering wheel audio control functionality???
  • briansbluetoybriansbluetoy Member Posts: 50
    In response to post 375.

In surfing the web for something else, I happend upon this link. I have used Logjam products in the past for my 03 accord and am very satisifed with their claims and service.

I am an '03 Coupe 4-cyl owner, and am looking to possibly make some after-market modifications... Any recommendations for adding a little HP and a customized look?

I'm looking at suggestions for exhausts, performance tires, etc...

Also, can you add the aero kit that they offer for the V6 models, after purchase?

My dealer finally installed my cargo net (as part of deal) on my 2003 EX V6 sedan and I also just acquired a trunk tray. Much to my ignorance I now realize these two accessories don't complement each other.

The cargo net required four anchors be installed on the trunk floor as well as two anchors on the sides. When the trunk tray is placed in the trunk it covers the four floor anchors.

In order to use both accessories, I've considered re-installing the four floor anchors over the trunk tray. This would work but be inconvenient for getting at the spare or removing the trunk tray to spray off. I guess I could also try to find some spots along the sides to put some anchors.

Anyone encountered this issue and how did you resolve?

    Thanks in advance,
    Jak

I am looking at adding 18" rims on a 2003 Honda Accord Sedan. What size tire would fit best with this size rim? I see 17" info but not 18". Not sure if the rim matters but they are Momo Quazar 2's.
  • atlantabennyatlantabenny Member Posts: 735
    ...are 215 x 45 x 18 per Tirerack.com.

HAs anyone installed a bug deflector on their 03 accords. IF so, what kind and how much did it cost you. Advantages and disadvantages. I have heard it may also adversely affect gas mileage.

    Opinions are appreciatted.

    Thanks

Somebody ripped off my antenna from my 93 accord, and now I'm thinking about getting a new one. Does anybody know if I need to get this installed, or it something I could do on my own? Also, do I have to get a power antenna, or can i get one that just stands on his own...

    thanks

I'm thinking about buying a 2003 Accord, but I'll want to upgrade the stereo as follows:

    1) Add an amplifier -- has anyone added an amp to the 2003 EX-V6 head unit?

    2) Replace the speakers -- shouldn't be a problem

    3) Add a hard-disk based MP3 player and/or satellite radio. There have been numerous posts with links to aux inputs -- has anyone installed and used these with a 2003 EX-V6 head unit? Are the connections to these internal, or external (so that I could use a portable MP3 and satellite receiver)?
  • eswanborgeswanborg Member Posts: 22
I have an 03 EX-V6 and the Soundgate Aux Input adapter for my Pioneer XM radio. Works great - no more FM modulation. It just plugs directly into the Aux Input on the back of the head unit. The adapter then has the Sony digital input (for relaying changer commands & info) and RCA audio input.

So from the Pioneer receiver I have an adapter to convert Pioneer digital I/O to RCA - RCA cable to the Soundgate adapter - adapter straight into the Head Unit. I guess if you wanted both satellite and MP3, you could probably work out some kind of RCA switch somewhere. Or modulate one of the two (not as nice of an option). I seem to recall reading on a different board (different site & mostly about the Pilot) someone who had included some kind of switching for their multiple add-on sources. Hope this helps.
  • briansbluetoybriansbluetoy Member Posts: 50
I also have the soundgate adapter installed. I use it for plugging my Archos (hard drive based) MP3 player. It is sweet. I have the headphone plug coming into a hole in the center console storage box.

    Adapter: http://www.logjamelectronics.com/sounsnhond3.html

I added velcro on the left side of the console compartment to keep the MP3 player in one place.

One nice addition is a coiled "extension cord" that makes it easy to pull the unit out of the storage area and put it back easily without fooling with the (uncoiled cord).

    Awesome vehicle. Awesome sound system.

I have had a little experience with the '03 Accord EX stereo. It is sort of a pain. There are no RCA outputs from the stereo, so you have to get a hi-lo converter(with a great grounding loop) from there its pretty easy, although a warning is that the front door speakers are not exactly remove and replace. The fronts are specially molded plastic inserts in the door which the speakers are glued to... very strange. I ended up surface mounting my Infinity 6.5" to the door. sounds great.
  • berbelberbel Member Posts: 167
Can you be a little more specific about surface
mounting that speaker to the door. How and where
did you mount it? So....you have TWO speaker grilles showing on the door? One being the disconnected OEM speaker and the other being the
newly mounted speaker. If so, does this look a
    bit "unusual.?"
  • mikek37mikek37 Member Posts: 411
There are two ways to install speakers 1) Surface mount ( Goes directly into the plastic mount) and 2) Flush mounting, which is the best and I believe will give you better sound then surface mounting.
  • tblazer503tblazer503 Member Posts: 620
So the plastic speaker grille that shows on your door was shaved out. My speakers are mounted in that position. They are Infinity Reference 652i's and sound pretty good. These come with a steel disc so I surface mounted, and the screws went through to the steel disc behind the door panel. Sticks out about 3/4" or so. Shoot me an email rndate@comcast.net and I can e-mail you pics on how it looks.

Has anyone installed a hitch-mounted bike rack on their 03 Accord sedan? If so, what brand/type of hitch and rack did you use and how is the equipment holding up for you?

Thanks in advance for the info...
  • tblazer503tblazer503 Member Posts: 620
got an email about info on AM buzzing in speakers. As far as I know, this is normal for AM(amplitude modulation) frequencies as opposed to FM(frequency modulation) on the radio. You probably have it in all four speakers, just the fronts are more pronounced since high frequencies are directional and they are closest to you. as for the speaker install, I will send them to you via e-mail.

The AM reception I would imagine is much worse in the EX because of the "in window antennae" which looks better(IMHO) than a mast antennae sticking out somewhere, but has been known to get worse reception. I'll have to try out my AM one day... (6disc changer is nice... haven't even played FM yet.. =oP... )

I'm considering ordering the Honda Accord 2003 dash kit from installer.com to install my single DIN JVC SX 980 CD/MP3 player in my EX-L 4cyl. This kit comes with a wire harness that would disable the stock 6 CD HU, but it supplies all necessary speaker & power inputs. Another option I've seen in the thread is the Soundgate AUX input adapter from LogJam, but that does not supply the +12V power to the JVC HU. I have not peeked under the dash, but if I were to use the Soundgate RCA adapter, how difficult is it to tap a 12V line in the Accord? Or, are there any T connectors that allow my to get to the 12V supply? Thanks!
  • briansbluetoybriansbluetoy Member Posts: 50
I installed the soundgate adapter. In order to get the center console out (to install the adapter) you have to remove the plate covering the shifter with the heated seat controls (exv6 automatic version) and the 12v accy socket. LOTS OF PLACES TO GET 12v From without ripping up the dash.

BTW, if you disconnect the HU connector does the climate control still work?

Hello everybody - new to the forum so I'm not sure where to ask this.

I have an 03 Accord LX. I have the Ivory interior and would really like to add the birdseye trim to the door switches and the center pocket/shifter area. I can't seem to find the birdseye door switch trim anywhere to order, but I've seen SEVERAL pictures of it. Any ideas?

    Thanks...

I cannot get a clear answer from any dealers on this. What will the new (03) Accord tow? And, what is the maximum tongue weight. I mostly want to use the tow hitch for a hitch mounted bicycle rack (which probably gets pretty heavy with 3 bikes on it) and one of those cargo carriers that connect to the tow hitch and can carry 200 pounds. Anyone with max tongue weights, warranty issues with this etc????
  • tblazer503tblazer503 Member Posts: 620
the GVWR for the 4cyl '03 Accord is 4125lbs.
    6cyl GVWR is 4300lbs.

Gives you about 900 lbs. So add the weight of the hitch/carrier(probably about 100lbs or so) add the weight of the 3 people in the vehicle plus all the other stuff, and hopefully you will have the extra ~150lbs for the bikes. I would imagine if Honda found out, you may not qualify for suspension warranty as overloading the rear suspension will cause the struts to wear out sooner. Try and check with your local honda dealer.
  • johnnyb11johnnyb11 Member Posts: 50
thanks for the reply. However, I was less concerned with overall vehicle weight and load, and more concerned with the capacity of whatever part of the vehicle that the hitch mounts to, what tongue weight it can bear.

Does anyone know of a good place to get high intensity headlights for an '03 Accord?
  • blaneblane Member Posts: 2,017
    sockpuppet1969:

You will not find any HIDs for the 2003 Accord. They have to be designed into a vehicle nowadays, not added on.
  • sockpuppet1969sockpuppet1969 Member Posts: 308
Thanks for the info. The HID conversion kits are a little pricey/complicated. The plasma bulbs look interesting though, and the prices seem reasonable. Has anyone tried these bulbs?
  • mikek37mikek37 Member Posts: 411
Yeah, dont waste your money. When I see cars with these imitation bulbs I know right away that they arent the real thing. Friend has a pair on his car, they decrease light output. Stay away from any of the ones that claim to be plasma, xeon and so on. Silver star supposeble makes a good set of hyper whites, but I have yet to experience them. Stick with the OEM bulbs, they have better light output then the aftermarket HID wanna be bulbs.
  • silverk21silverk21 Member Posts: 65
Changed mine to Silver Stars and they make a big difference.
  • tblazer503tblazer503 Member Posts: 620
Stay away from Silver Stars. Been through 3 pairs in ~2years. Put them on my '02 Trailblazer when they first came out in late '01, they burned out during the summer of '02. changed them again... sold the truck and put them on my '03 Accord on 11/02 when I bought it. They just burned out. Seem to last about 6-9 months, and when removed, the filament looks like it just ... wilts. and breaks on a weak spot. wierd. Had PIAA's in my Civic for 2years w/ no problems. This time, I put CATZ on.

The silver stars are decent lights, but not if they only last 9 months.
  • mikek37mikek37 Member Posts: 411
That is the major complaint I have been hearing inregards to the bulbs. They dont last as long as OEM bulbs, and are a bit pricey
