MF is .00170

Not sure that Toyota offers a 10K/yr lease.. if they do, the residual would be 66%.

Im gonna wait for you guys with the up to date residuals but they way I like to buy cars is do my math and then find the exact car I want online at dealers in my area and then just go in and present my math and say this is what I want to pay for that specific car. It hasnt failed me yet, but I have never leased before so I want to make sure my calculation seems accurate.

Here are the figures (MSRP and Invoice from TrueCar)

Residual 67.5%
Invoice Including Dest Fee $35,534
My Price $36,534 I already received an offer that they will do $1000 above invoice which is about 3% Margin which makes sense to me

Times the residual value percentage 67.5%
Equals the residual value $26258
Invoice price minus Residual $36534

Depreciation Payment is $285

Equals money factor (interest) payment portion $107

MF + Depreciation $392/mo payment
My tax rate where I live in NYS is 8.375%
so that would be a Total of $425

Then I know i have to pay the fees and DMV, etc

But let me know what you guys think if both my math and the actual offer make sense. Trying to buy something on Memorial Day on Monday and just want to go in with my offer and walk out with a car.

The math is right but I can't tell you if the offer will work - I don't track selling prices.

My calculations assume $0 cap cost reduction. There may be some out of pocket money needed for start up costs - first payment, acquisition fee, dealer fee, license/tags.

If you can't get the Highlander at invoice, I'd keep shopping unless you don't want to travel far. Find the car on a dealers website - if he has only one car he might not have much incentive to haggle. If he's got ample inventory, you should be able to tell him how you're ready to buy and want that car on his lot for invoice. Then tell him to put it in writing and you'll be there in 24 hours to close the deal. The Highlander has been out there for a while now and the new model factor should be wearing off.

I show the XLE as 66% residual for 36/15.

Toyota only adjusts residuals quarterly, so that definitely hasn't changed.

Can't find the Highlander on any of the incentive sheets, so I'd guess it's still .0018 for the money factor

What is the residual for a Toyota Highlander Limited AWD with msrp of $42,660 on a 36 month 12k/year lease? I am led to believe the residuals vary from car to car based on msrp/options and are not a straight percentage. If region matters, I am in the northeast.

36/12 residual is 65%. If a 10K lease is offered, add 1% to the residual.

Plus doc fee, 7% sales tax, and non-tax fees = $38,768.91

Residual = $25,806 (66%?)

Is this a good deal? Why don't the residual and MF match what's listed above?

Toyota has over 20 regions... we don't have all the numbers.. we try to get as close as we can. Toyota residuals can't be calculated, as they don't residualize all option. The dealer looks up the residual for each unit on the invoice.

That looks like a pretty decent lease payment for a Highlander, if it includes everything..

If so, 36/15 is .00196 MF and 62% residual. Add 2% for 12K/yr.

Money factors on this model are high.. It's a popular vehicle.

No MSDs that I know of on Toyota (though you can always ask)

TFS absolutely offers MSDs, scroll up about 4 pages to see my story. I used 9 x MSDs on my lease to drop my MF by 0.00072 from an original MF of 0.0017 ending up with a 0.00098 MF saving me $1,824.89 on my loan/interest/total lease and of course the MSDs will be returned when I turn the car back in.

I purchased in DFW (Richardson), The Finance guys will struggle with it, but TFS does offer it, you just need to ask.

.00170 is the base MF for the Highlander, though the dealer is allowed to mark it up.

The 36/15 residual is 63% and 54% for 48/15; extra miles can be purchased up front for .10-.25 per mile, applied to the residual value.

I'm looking for a highlander in the southern Florida market. I want the safety tech which I understand only comes on the Limited and then the msrp is around $42000. The lease quote from my local dealer is coming back at $595 sign and drive for 36 months and 12k miles. This seems really really high to me given the great residuals on the car and comparing to some quotes I've gotten even on a qx60 with a much much higher msri asked the dealer for the breakdown but just curious

Lease numbers for the Limited 4x2 are 64% and .00170 for 36/12. We would need to know the selling price or the net capitalized cost in order to model a payment for you.

Highlanders are somewhat expensive to lease with the high MF.
