We'd need to have more details - MSRP and selling price / cap cost in order to fully evaluate the deal. Tax rate for you in NY will help, too.

My best truecar.com dealer price for 2015 XLE AWD with 2nd row captains chairs $35,950 including dealer doc fee. That seems pretty aggressive for my area on this vehicle. Any feedback?

I know it is the last day for August lease rates, but I had been basing my numbers off of the residuals I have been seeing on the forum. When I went to the dealer yesterday I received some very strange numbers that I need validated.

I am looking at a 2015 AWD Limited and Platinum on a 36/12,000. I was quoted 61% and 58% respectively with a mf of .00199. I am located in NC so I would fall under their Southeast programs.

I was under the impression I should be at 65% for the Limited and 63% for the Platinum. I believe the mf should be .00197. Can you please confim which is correct?

I haven't noticed Southeast Distributor using different residuals for the Toyota models, but I guess it's possible. We show the higher numbers, but can't guarantee what SouthEast might do.

You cannot reverse engineer the MF from everything else. Base MF on the Highlander is .00170, but the dealer can mark that up. Double? I suppose it's possible.

Might want to try another Toyota dealer. Only takes one to meet your numbers.

To reverse calculate the money factor, add the adjusted cap and residual, then divide the monthly finance charge by that number. Doing that, I get .0013

Yes.. with the numbers you have, your calculation is correct. Ask the dealer for the CAP cost. Didn't see any mention of the TFS acquisition fee ($650). Also, the tax amount on the lease, as the tax in IL is collected upfront and added to the CAP cost (but, it can't be $2945). Once you get the CAP cost, you might find other fees and extras added that you didn't know about.

I'm confused. Sorry, thought I already had CAP cost. Isn't that the 41,887?  What am I missing?

The $41,887 is the selling price; the cap cost includes any taxes and fees that you add to that (bank fee, dealer fee, taxes, DMV costs).

Rolling everything in, those numbers are pretty close.
No idea what Highlanders are selling for, but the lease numbers appear correct.

Using your MSRP and selling prices, I get a payment of $422/mo for 24 months or $420/mo for 36 months - both with tax (I assume ME taxes just the monthly payment).

Find out what the net cap cost is - if higher than the selling price, have the dealer explain why.

The tax might be $2634 on a purchase, but that can't be right for a lease.. Should be closer to $1200.

They say Toyota is not supporting the Highlander leases and that the MF would be .0025 and the residual value $27,036, my credit score is 720 so I belive I'm Tier 1+. They claim that the MF is coming directly from Toyota. Can you confirm the MF and residual for this region of California? Thanks.

We haven't seen any money factors for the Highlander, because they aren't supported.

.0025 seems a little high, even for an unsupported rate, but I can't say it's wrong. I would have expected something more in the .0020-.0022 range.

Toyota manages their residuals differently .. the options are not subject to residualization. The numbers we have are for the base MSRP.

The dealers have to look up the actual residual amount for each unit in stock.

But, 64% or so seems about right.

OK so on the Highlander Limited I was able to make them lower the MF to .00240 so the lease will have a $27,036 residual which is about 64% and the sale price is $38,331 which is about $3,900 less than MSRP. The lease has an acquisition fee of $650 and no security deposit, 36 months with 12,000 miles. I'm putting $2999 at signing which includes the first month payment. The monthly payment will be $466 including tax. I did not want to pay more than the $450 I was paying for my 2012 Buick enclave which I bought used. So the payment is pretty close and the car is certainly a nice upgrade. So overall the deal looks good right?

Yup.. I'd say you are doing something wrong.

Are you adding the CAP cost and residual, then multiplying by the money factor, for the finance portion?

Can't help you with the calculator issues; online calculators often make assumptions we know nothing about.

Using the numbers you've provided (68% residual), I get $397.24/mo with 7% tax.

MF is probably the same across the country for the Highlander ... and so is the residual.
