Who are you dealing with at Koons? I got the exact same quote on the 2005 EX-L as a few posts ago from the dealer in woodbridge ($22787.41 OTD). Koons said they would beat any offer so we'll see tonight. The woodbridge offer blew most dealers right off the phone!
  • rvadikrvadik Member Posts: 11
asenj, I got it from Route 22 Honda, I does not matter what sales person u deal with, you end up talking to the manager or "closer". Expect to spend some time there, this s not a quick process.
  • rvadikrvadik Member Posts: 11
jb_turner, this was not a quote, but actual price paid (after some lengthy negotiaitons). This was a straight purchase, no financing or leasing.

Try Rosenthal in Tysons Corner. I got a EXL-V6 Sedan in Graphite for $24,700 OTD.

    Hello,

I have an 'out the door' quote for an '05 Accord LX 4 cylinder with auto. Does this seem reasonable?

$19,657 - Out the door price:

$18,351 - (car and destination- by my math)
    1,285 - tax (7% in Atlanta area)
    21 - tag/title

19,657 - Total (internet quote from local dealer)

I got this far in a couple of weeks of emailing dealers. Any thoughts from anyone on if I should keep going or is this as low as I'm likely to get?

    Thanks in advance.

"The woodbridge offer blew most dealers right off the phone!"

Would Woodbridge be Hendrick? I added them to the list of dealers I was working with for an EX-L v6 4dr with nav. The OTD price was among the highest I've been quoted and almost $1200 more than the best deal I've seen so far on a similarly outfitted model (only missing the floor mats). I'll check out Koons though and once I'm through with this process, I'll write up a quick summary of my experience with internet only shopping.

sorry if this is in the wrong forum, but can someone tell me what, if any, "loan" related fees I should expect to pay if I opt for Honda's current 2.9%/60mo financing?
  • dc_loftsdc_lofts Member Posts: 2
Yes, Hendricks. I asked for the internet quote, here it is. This is for a 2005 EX-L 4-cyl with auto and appearance package:

    MSRP $25,015.00

    Internet Price $21,761.00

    Processing Fee 299.00

    Va. State Tax (3%) 661.80

    Pr. William tax (.12%) 26.11

    Va. Tags and Title 39.50

    Total Price $22,787.41

If anyone can find a better price, I'd love to know!

    Hello richk1,

You should not pay any loan-related fees if you finance your vehicle through Honda Financial Services. In fact, you can apply online at hondafinancialservices.com.

    Hi All:

The usual … Chicago area pricing with a few more LX’s to add to the list.

    Grand Honda

    05 Accord EX I4 w/ Auto: $20,173
    05 Accord EX-L I4 w/ Auto: $21,561
    05 Accord EX V6 w/ Auto: $23,538
    05 Accord Hybrid (non-NAVI): $28,000
    05 Accord 2-door EX V6 w/ Auto: $23,495

    Jacob’s Twin Honda

    05 Accord LX I4 w/ Auto: $18,999

    Muller Honda

    05 Accord LX I4 w/ Auto: $18,995

The I4 EX and EX-L prices have dropped by a good amount vs. last week which falls in line w/ Rx300ss’ spectacular $22,200 for a brand new 05 I4 EX-L w/ NAVI and Auto from O’Hare Honda last week. His was less expensive then any of these advertised deals by some margin … I wonder if the Chicago Auto show had anything to do with it as in an un-announced FTD incentive to Chicago area Honda dealers for these 2 weeks only? I guess we will see next week …

All prices above are for 4-door sedans unless otherwise specified and include the Honda assigned destination fee of $515.

    Good Luck

I just got a quote on a 2005 Civic coupe SE w/ auto for almost $500 under invoice. 16139 + 515 deliver + 162 doc prep + 100? for NJ Motor Veh. to take car to Connecticut. I an now looking at getting the Accord EX V6 instead. Get back to me if this is a legit offer and you use it.

    Hi All:

    Another one …

    Holmes Honda - Shreveport, LA

Brand new 05 Accord Hybrid (non-NAVI): $27,495 via E-Bay “Buy it Now”.

The AH’s appear to be selling poorly given the well below MSRP for a practically brand new release as found in Chicago, IL. ($28,000), Sioux Fall’s SD. ($28,900), and now Shreveport, LA. ($27,495). This AH is actually going out at Invoice! Strange, very strange.

    Good Luck

    All,
Just a quick update on my I4 EXL-NAVI for $22200. O'hare Honda called me sometime last week to tell me that price they sold me the car was NOT the right price. They are claiming that they've quoted me a price for EXL w/o NAVI. All the doc's I have signed says EXL-NAVI and I took delivery of EXL-NAVI. :( Needless to say, I am seeking leagal counsel at this time. I do not know what the outcome will be, only time will tell. I would NOT suggest purchasing your new vehicle from O'hare Honda anymore.
I will keep you guys updated on the outcome.
  • xcelxcel Member Posts: 1,025
    Hi Rx300ss:

Now that is one for the books. What did they say, you owe an additional $1,800 and demanded payment after you have had the car for a week?

Please keep us up to date with the details as this is the first time I have ever heard of that happening? I saw your E-Mail and they definitely quoted the EX-L w/ NAVI let alone accepting your hard earned money for the car at that price. The way it looks to me is that you achieved the best price in the country and tough luck for them?

    Good Luck

I'd read through both of these to see what people have had in the past. I believe something similar to your problem has been discussed somewhere in a forum here.

I would ask and read both places. While some of the dealer-oriented persons there may say one way or the other, I'd watch for Driftracer's response myself.

In one of these someone recently discovered their Tahoe? did not have all wheel drive weeks after purchase. I haven't seen a conclusion yet. Owner thought they negotiated for AWD. There's no way to tell by knobs. etc.

Ah Ha!! We all should have known that rx300ss's deal was not what it seemed. If I remember right, it was something like $1800 under invoice. If it seems too good to be true...
  • xcelxcel Member Posts: 1,025
    Hi Rx300ss:

I posted your situation into the “Any Questions for a Car Dealer?” thread and the 2 replies so far look like you are in the clear without question.

Stickguy: Well, the dealer has absolutley no recourse, legally or ethically, and I can't believe they had the nerve to send that letter.

If they really screwed up that bad, they should eat the difference and work on thier internal controls.

The fact that they documented the right model all along further undermines their case.

    Rroyce10: ........ It's time to eat that one ........... :)

    Terry.

Fredvh, why the Ah Ha stuff? It looks like Rx300ss picked up a great price and is in the clear without question although we will never see pricing this low until the end of this year possibly :-( Remember that $22,500 purchased an 04 PZEV and non-PZEV equipped I4 w/ Auto - EX-L w/ NAVI in September/October of last year when there was only the $1,000 FTD incentives, not the $1,300 that came about in or around November or December after that … Chalmers Honda in Boston and Rosen Honda here in Illinois were the two I knew about anyway.

    Good Luck

If they send you a certified letter then I would contact attorney general's office or spend your own money for an attorney. Otherwise I'd just sit tight.

I had a case where a furniture store did not charge sales tax on furniture delivered to home in a different state. About a year later the state I live in apparently had contacted them since they are near the state line and do a lot of business in our state. I got a letter asking me to pay the sales tax from the furniture store. I suspected they weren't serious. Never got a letter from them certified nor heard anything else about the sales tax.

I figured anything they collected they would pay to my state; if they collected nothing, they probably didn't pay on back purchases.

Got a price of $24,526.93 for a 2005 EX, 4-dr, V6, leather seats, XM radio + autodim mirror. I do need to add the NC taxes & tag to it.
    Is this a good price?
    Thanks
  • jb_turnerjb_turner Member Posts: 702
That seems about the going price here in NC (without taxes, tags etc..) as that is the exact car I want.
Where did you get your price from?
  • lycanthrislycanthris Member Posts: 36
Picked up an 05 EXL without navigation yesterday in SoCal. Selling price we got was $21,596, which i think was really good. Such a nice car for such a great price.

I agree with joe30. I think you need a number that you are willing to spend on the model of your choice. I would actually come up with a OTD number and use that to deal. This way I get to stay within my budget, without worrying about the doc fee, license, tax, etc--the dealer can figure those out.

Anyone with pricing information on an EX v-6 w/navi in the Birmingham or Atlanta area?
  • richk1richk1 Member Posts: 51
Just completed what I think was a very good deal on an EX-L V6 4dr sedan automatic w/ navi.

Cash price (includes processing but before TTL) on the vehicle was 27,682 and that included dealer installed splash guards, trunk tray, pin stripe, wheel locks, and fender trim. Its basically $50 under invoice with the dealer installed stuff thrown in for free.

As for the experience at Herson's, it was great.

The salesman was very knowledgeable about the inventory (and what was in stock). When I told him the best OTD price I had seen on the car, HE pulled out a calculator, worked up some numbers, decided it was a real offer I had received, and then HE offered up a slightly lower number without the game of "I dunno, this would be an amazing deal for you, I don't know if my sales manager is gonna do it". Granted, I had put a chunk of time into shopping the price (see my 2/21 post on "Purchasing Strategies"), but everything went exceptionally smooth.

And here is where Herson's wins BIG points with me. The F&I mgr came out and asked how recently I had renewed my registration. When I told her it was within the last 3 months, she decided it would be easier to do a tag xfer rather than put new ones on. I was fine with that, but a bit skeptical. When I got back to her office and looked over the paperwork, she had proactively reduced my OTD price by the $118 savings from doing the xfer vs new without me having to ask about it. I told her that was almost too honest and it was scaring me ;-)

Many thanks to all of the contributors on this board over the last month - esp the folks in the DC area who helped emencely
  • whitecloud1whitecloud1 Member Posts: 268
Glad to see that Herson's did OK by you too.

bigal28- best price in Atlanta so far is $25,650 including destination but before TTL for an EX V-6 sedan w/navi, pin stripes, splash guards and wheel locks. The dealer is Cary Paul Honda. BEWARE of Gwinnet Place Honda-- email quotes of $1200 under invoice but now refuse to honor the price; bait and switch claiming they accidently priced the 4 cyl despite several emails confirming the V6 configuration. I am reporting them to BBB.

Leasing 2001 Honda Accord Sedan EX 4cyl w/power, alarm and moonroof. Original lease was for $279/36 months w/$2,000 down. Extended lease additional two years. Will have paid $18,409 at end of 60 months. Honda then wants $10,000 from me to purchase the vehicle. That would bring the total purchase price to $28,409. Interest charged is 5.8% interest or $6,440 above the cost of the vehicle. Would like advice on whether interest rate is fair and is there anything I can do now if it isn't? Edmunds lists dealer resale at $15,045 (22k miles). I guess it's safe to assume Honda won't negotiate down on the $10,000. The total price I am paying seems excessive to me. Any advice appreciated. I've learned alot from reading the posts and will be prepared next time.

Sounds like you got a great deal! Up in the NYC area, I paid $26,336 (invoice of $25,821+dest fee of $515) for an Accord EX-V6 Leather with Auto 5 speed with Navigation and XM radio. Tax ,Title and tags extra.

By the way is XM radio worth it- apparentlty it was packaged already from the factory in this trim line?
  • rodgers7rodgers7 Member Posts: 13
Ezpass, yes I do think I got a great deal. I haven't taken delivery yet (next week) but I was impressed with XM radio during my two test drives. I was skeptical at first but really liked the variety of crystal clear, advertising free music offered by XM. I think there's a 3 month free trial period after which there is a $10 (I think) monthly fee. Being a cheapskate (aren't we all on this forum?) I'll have to think it over. Yes, XM is standard for this trim line.
  • richards38richards38 Member Posts: 606
You can pay for your XM in advance and save a few dollars. I signed up and paid for 3 years and it comes out to just over $8 per month.
The XM is much better sound quality than AM or FM--it's CD quality from a radio without all the annoying commercials......Richard

The original lease deal was good.. I don't think I would have extended the lease for two years.. that is always a better deal for the leasing company than it is for you..

I really doubt your car is worth $15K, even though it only has 22K miles...

What was fair or reasonable for the lease is immaterial now.. You agreed to it.. Your only decision is whether you want to pay $10K for your car.. That seems like a good price, considering the low mileage...

Leasing to own is okay.. But, you should have bought the car at the end of the original 3 year term.. By extending the lease another two years, you cost yourself quite a bit of money..

Thank you for your reply. Should I have financed through Honda at the end of the 3 years? We decided at the end of the 3 years We wanted to stop leasing and outright own a car. The only thing we were offered was an additional 2 year lease then an option to buy. Was Honda being truthful with us or could we have financed at the end of the 3 years. As leasing is a rich man's sport (in my opinion), next time, I'm going to finance outright and purchase the car over 5 years. Sound good??? How should we have determined whether the 10k final payment Honda is asking for is fair?

Also my husband and I argued all night about whether Honda ever offered 0% or 2.9% to qualified buyers. He said no. I said yes. The 5.78% we are paying seems excessive given the fact we had a decent credit score. Is the interest arbitrary or based solely on credit score? It's been an education. Thank you.
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 267,412
If your original lease was in '01, the money factors and interest rates were much higher at that time.. I also leased an '01 Accord, and the money factors were around .0024, if I remember correctly... which equates to around 6%.

If your original lease was for 3 years, you certainly should have been able to buy the car at that time... It doesn't seem likely that leasing for two more years was your only option.

As for the value on your Accord?

I bought a 05 Honda EX-L Coupe with 5-speed MT, 2.4L engine, moonroof, XMSR, trim package, etc yesterday in San Diego area for $21380 net plus CA tax and license. Invoice price for the EX-L was $21417 plus $515 destination fee. MSRP was $23800 plus $515 destination fee. The dealer also had to drive 35 miles to trade for the car I wanted in last nights rain storm. I think I did pretty well on the deal.

This is what I got from Stockton Honda in northern California:

    Accord LX: 17,600
    Alarm: 200
    TTL: 1600
    TOTAL: $19,400

This is roughly 1300 below invoice, which isn't too bad for an Accord that was made in Japan.

Here's what I received from an Internet sales manager in the Phoenix area:

    $18,645.00 ($300 UNDER Invoice)
+ 00.00 Splashguards, Wheel Locks, & Cargo Tray (Retail $281)
    $18,645.00
    + 1,417.02 Tax (7.6%)
    + 359.48 Lic Fee
    + 299.00 Doc Fee
    + 5.00 Az Tire Tax
    $20,725.50 Out-the-Door!

I think I can still get a better deal.....anyone know of any Honda dealers in the Phoenix/Tucson area where I can get a better price? The Lic and Doc fees seem a little too high IMO...any comparable figures?

Are these prices what the car actually cost with no trade-in? If these prices reflect what the car cost on paper before the trade, then they may not mean much if the trade value was very low.
