    Hi Bobst:

If you want to figure out what your trade is worth, go read and post into the “Real World Trade In Value” forum here at Edmunds. It is always best to sell your older vehicle outright then accept auction wholesale (at best in most cases) as you will for any trade-in.

The prices posted here are if you walk in, put down your VISA or cash for a down payment and the balance is handled by the F&I guy. Afterwards, you drive out in a new Accord. These prices have nothing to do with a trade and neither will any other price for any other manufacturer, model, or trim you see on TV, read in the paper, or hear on the radio anywhere on the planet.

    Good Luck

"Are these prices what the car actually cost with no trade-in? If these prices reflect what the car cost on paper before the trade, then they may not mean much if the trade value was very low. "

Bobst - for what its worth, my post back on 2/21 (#6736) was the price negotiated before I even told them I had a trade.

EX-6 auto 4dr sedan w/ nav for cash price of 27,682 (includes processing, but excludes TTL since that's going to vary by state). Its about $50 under invoice with a bunch of dealer installed stuff thrown in (mud guards, wheel locks, trunk tray, pin stripe, fender guards). Good luck!

Are there any other charges, other than TTL, on top of these posted prices(transportation, doc, advertising fee, etc.)?
  • xcelxcel Member Posts: 1,025
    Hi Fredvh:

The only item not included (besides TTL) is a $55.39 doc fee according to their ads.

I'm about to buy a used 2003 Accord EX-L V6 sedan that has only 20K miles and 5 year extended warranty, for $19K (from a private owner)- does this sound like a good deal?

Do I have to pay the same amount of tax that I would if I bought it from a dealer?

Do you know if the extended warranty is transferable?

Thanks for any info or advice

We used the Internet and found a deal in Brewster New York that no other dealerships(4)in my area of northern Connecticut would touch. We had to drive a little over an hour to get the car, but it was worth it.

One of the local dealers told me to go and put a deposit down and get the Accord for that price...His dealership could not touch the price.

Well I did, and no hassles, and everything was as they said it would be when we showed up and it was all done online and on the Phone.

    Brewster Honda:
Accord EX 4 Cyl: $20,695 plus tax, Reg, etc.
  • munumunu Member Posts: 7
I am confused between buying EX-L or EX-V6 for around $2000 more. I am not sure if this is the right forum but since all you guys are buying or in the process of buying so wanted to check if you saw the real difference between these 2 models.

Only thing I don't like in 4 cyl Honda is the handling. I was even thinking to buying 2003 BMW 325 for approx same price. What is the improvements in V6 over 4cyl models...along with power is V6 improves the handling of the car. I have yet to test drive V6, but I hardly make out anything in 10 min test drive so I need your suggestion

    Thanks
  • richards38richards38 Member Posts: 606
The Accord 4 cylinder and V6 handle much the same. The V6 is about 175 pounds heavier in the front end which is already nose-heavy because it's a front drive car.

The 4 is likely to handle slightly better because it's lighter up front and better balanced, but I'm not certain of that.

If you don't like the way the 4 handles, it's very unlikely that you'll be happy with the V6.

Too bad you don't like the handling--the Accords are superb cars.....Richard
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 267,338
I'll agree with richards38.. If you don't like the 4-cyl. handling, the V-6 won't be any better, in that regard...

For about the same money as the V-6, you might try an Acura TSX.. It won't handle as well as the BMW, but it is much sportier than the Accord.

    Hi All:

The usual Chicago area pricing with a twist (Saturday Tribune - Cars Section) and some new dealerships …

    Grand Honda

    05 Accord LX 4-door I4 w/ Auto: $17,500 w/ 8 miles on it.

Their Saturday ad has ~ 50 cars coming from a Honda auction so I would be a bit leery about this one? Maybe damaged in transit and repaired possibly?

    Honda Superstore

05 Accord EX 4-door I4 w/ Auto: $21,214.73 + TTL and DOC. Doc is ~ $55.00 here. $50 less then Grand and they are usually the bottom in the Chicago area.

    Muller Honda

05 Accord LX 4-door I4 w/ Auto: $19,095 + TTL. This Accord LX price does not sound like that great a bargain to me.

    Good Luck

in Maryland, tax is tax....5% at the dealer (paid on everything except licensing and reg fees) or 5% on the sale price (paid at DMV when you register the car).

For extended warranty, if its HondaCare, yes, I believe they allow one transfer. If its 3rd party, you might want to double check. Good luck!

    Wayne,

Is that one from the Honda Superstore an EX-L or just an EX?
  • xcelxcel Member Posts: 1,025
    Hi Fredvh:

Straight EX, no leather. Good catch as it is higher then Grand. Those guys at Grand are tough to beat.

    Hi All:

Here is a new twist …

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category- =6254&item=4531502405&rd=1

    Jersey Honda (Edison, NJ.)

    05 Accord EX 4-door I4 w/ Auto: $19,925 for any color. Must add a $198 doc.

With invoice being $21,124 on an I4 equipped EX 4-door w/ auto, that works out to $1,001 below invoice.

Vern Eide - Honda (Sioux Falls, SD.)

    05 Accord Hybrid (non-NAVI): $27,988

    Good Luck

    Wayne,

How can a dealer sell a Honda Accord for $1000 UNDER invoice?
It does not look like the $19,925 icludes the $515 destination charge either.
Has anyone on this forum actually bought an Accord for $1000 UNDER invoice?
Even considering holdback and maybe a month-end bonus, I just do not understand why a dealer would sell a vehicle at a loss.
  • xcelxcel Member Posts: 1,025
    Hi Fredvh:

The Grand Honda deals in Chicago are all around $1,000 under invoice also.

The Honda Accord Floor Plan as of last year was worth as follows:

    4D 2.4 LX 5-Speed AT - $95
    4D 2.4 EX 5-Speed AT - $110
    4D 2.4 EX 5-Speed AT w/ Leather - $110
    4D 2.4 EX 5-Speed AT Leather w/Navi - $120
    4D 3.0 EX 5-Speed AT w/ Leather (V6) - $120
    4D 3.0 EX 5-Speed AT Leather w/Navi (V6) - $125

Hold Back is worth 3% of MSRP.

    4D 2.4 LX 5-Speed AT - $614.25
    4D 2.4 EX 5-Speed AT - $687
    4D 2.4 EX 5-Speed AT w/ Leather - $735
    4D 2.4 EX 5-Speed AT Leather w/Navi - $795
    4D 3.0 EX 5-Speed AT w/Leather (V6) - $801
    4D 3.0 EX 5-Speed AT Leather w/Navi (V6) - $861

You do not actually believe all these Honda dealerships are losing money on each sale, do you? With Honda, there is probably a very healthy hidden incentive on the Accord’s that you and I will never hear about :-(

    Good Luck

price on an Accord DX with an auto. trans.? I'm just curious if anyone has shopped for one and I don't really care about the resale issue with it being the bottom line model. I wouldn't mind having a new Accord DX but I didn't know what to expect in the "real world" pricing game. Can anyone shine a light on this?
P.S.- I've already seen what Edmunds has listed but really want to know if anyone can tell me what they might go for. Thanks!

    Hi all,
Can anyone help me with info on best deals on a 2005 Accord EX-L V6, sedan, auto, in the Dallas area? (no NAV)
I'm getting $26500 drive out price including $1800 for tax and title (that's $25800 before TTL).
I think that's a little high, what do you think?

Hi everyone. I'm new to the forums and need help!
Looking For an 05 Accord exl w/leather 4 cyl. The offer I've had from Landers Honda in Fayettville, AR is $22,861 I'm just wondering, is this a reasonable price? If not what do these cars usually sell for? Help is appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Hi All,

Just picked a 2005 Honda Accord EX-L V4 AT Sedan for $21,105 + 515 dest fee + TTL from Jim Coleman's Honda in Clarksville, Maryland. This was the best price quoted by any dealer in Virginia and Maryland and is lower than the price quoted by Hendrik Honda of Woodbridge. Besides, the dealers in Maryland charge only a $100 doc fee. So, I got it for $23,000 on the road (including 5% Maryland taxes, TTL). It also included a free appearance package (pin stripes, door edge guards, wheel locks, splash guards and fender well trim) !!

The car had just 3 miles on it and I think I got a pretty good deal. All negotiations were on the internet and I just had to go to the dealership to pick the car. I had a nice buying experience and would recommend the dealer to all my friends.

I'd like to thank all of you as the posts in this forum were very educative and helped me negotiate to get this deal.

I bought a EX-V6 for 24,038 from Frank Kent after getting quotes from every internet manager in Dallas and Tarrant county. I waited 2 weeks and the quotes kept getting lower, take your time and the prices will drop. 500.00 under
    invoice was worth the wait.
  • cutmeistercutmeister Member Posts: 14
Was the $24,038 the price before Taxes and Title?
What was the drive out price?
    Sounds like a good deal!

    Which dealer??
  • gohonda1gohonda1 Member Posts: 12
Just got my brand new 2005 Honda Accord EX V-6 w/o Nav (Sedan 4 door). Price of car including destination charge was $23,635 excluding TTL. The out the door price was $25,451 which is a little higher than I wanted, but looks like a great deal compared to my research. The $23,635 is almost a grand under the invoice price. This was in NJ by the way. Most of my negotiating was done over the internet. Just kept getting lower quotes and bringing them back to the dealer for him to beat. Seemed to work pretty well.
  • accordbuyindfwaccordbuyindfw Member Posts: 4
I am in Dallas Fort Worth area and am planning on buying an Accord LX-V6 within the next 2 weeks. The lowest quote I have recvd is for 21418+TTL.
Is this a fair price, or do you think I can get something lower?

Anyone recommend any dealership in and around Dallas?

    Thanks

EX 6 cyl w/Nav that anyone has heard of lately. I like the new Avalon but the better value may be the Accord. 25K-26K perhaps.....

    HI,

Could you please let me know which dealer in NJ? I am just about to get an Accord EX-V6 w/o Nav.

    Thanks!
  • newtohonda2newtohonda2 Member Posts: 3
This is my first post, but I am looking at picking up a 2005 Accord EX, V6 loaded (minus Nav). The lowest price quoted so far is $24,538 (I was told that this dealership charges $0 above invoice). The only additional fees are the license and registration and State doc fee of $218 for an out the door price of $24,756.

I am in Oregon, and it seems that I cannot find any dealer who will go below invoice. Other dealers have said that $24,538 was a good deal.

Can someone let me know if I should go for it?!?

    Thanks.

I just purchased an 05 Accord EX Sedan with wheel locks and mud guards for an OTD price of $20,808 in the Chicago area. Research was done through Edmunds along with price quotes. Negotiating over the internet is the way to go. Very painless experience. First time Honda owner. Just sold a Saturn LW300. What a difference!!
  • 3dd3dd Member Posts: 20
Since the LX V-6 is not a popular trim, as long as they have it on lot, you should be able to do better than $21,418.
  • newtohonda2newtohonda2 Member Posts: 3
Nope...we have no sales tax. I just received another lower quote of $24,322. This other dealer told me that this was below invoice, and it is $216 less than the previous quote (what a deal!!)

    Does this still sound good?
  • jb_turnerjb_turner Member Posts: 702
It sounds about average... most of us in other States have to pay sales tax :(

    Hi ken7707,

I know about Brewster Honda, they're by far the best in the area on price. Exactly which model did you get? Was it the EX 4 cylinder w/ leather?

No sales tax in Oregon on auto purchases?

I am located in Pennyslvania and just received the following quote on a 2005 Accord EX, V6, 4 dr sedan without Nav:

$27,215 MSRP which includeds $515 shipping
    78.60 wheel locks
    $27,293.60 Total
    -2,176 Discount
$25,117.60 would be the total before tax, tags, etc.

How does this compare with what others are finding on this vehicle?
  • voicemailkingvoicemailking Member Posts: 83
Supposed to be picking up above around 6:00 pm tonight.....will give follow up, the TOTAL out the door price is SUPPOSED to be $27775.00......Hope all goes well!!!!
  • newtohonda2newtohonda2 Member Posts: 3
It seems like they are all in the same price range. My wife is pretty much set on purchasing new, but a friend of mine who has his broker's license has a 2002 EX V6 loaded with 21,000 miles, silver that I could get for $16,400. Not bad, but the wife does not like silver...plus she wants a new car. I think we will probably get the new one for $24,322.

Good luck to everyone out there!

Man if you live in the NJ area you have got it made. Checkout "openroad" Honda. The best prices I have seen.

However, I got close locally and just bought a black 6-speed w/NAV
  • midnightcowboymidnightcowboy Member Posts: 1,978
Concerning buying a used 2002 ( 2002 V^ was less HP , 200 and alos not as good as gas mileage, becuase only has 4-speed automatic)

7th generation started with year 2003, (v6=240hp, automatic=5 speed). Year 2002 is the previous generation of Honda. All 2003-2005 are bascially the same with minor changes. For example for 2005 the steering wheel controls on the EX are now lit.

    Good Luck,

I also was recently told, by a dealer, that LX-V6 are harder to sell later. Is that true?

Should I really consider buying another style because of that?
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 267,338
Yes.. it is true.. Almost every V-6 is an EX.. You'll be competing with other used cars that all have alloys, leather and a moonroof.. Most people that would pay extra for the V-6, want all the other amenities, as well..

If you are concerned about resale, you will be much better off with the EX-V6... It is one of the few instances where additional options will pay for themselves on resale..

    Hello xcel,
What are these prices. I do not understand?
For example: What do you mean by $17,995 for a 05 Accord LX 4-door I4 w/Auto.
    Is this
    the invoice price?
    the real dealer price?
Please explain, I am trying to get a good deal on an ACCORD LX Auto myself
    Thanks

I think you should purchase the car to for your needs. If you just want a bigger engine, the LX V6 is actually a better choice. If you don't run up too many miles and keep the car in good condition, I don't think a LX V6 is going to be harder to sell than an EX V6. It might look like the LX V6's value is less the EXV6's, but you pay about $2,500 less for a LX V6.
