Check out Jim Coleman Honda in MD, they had allot of stuff on the lot when I got my NAVI two weeks back. Their internet department was painless to deal with.
Guys! It would be great if, when telling about the price quote you've got you would also tell which dealership and which sales person have given you the quote. This way we can save time and avaoid posts like "Hey, who gave you that great quote on Accord XYZ?" You know, when you see somebody posted that they got a greate price, and you post and ask them where they got it... and wait for the reply... and that person may never reply...
But if it were, you would be looking 800-1000 for leather, and would probably be better off w/ an EX. its a 2k markup and comes w/ a few more options that are useful. It's the yin and yang w/ Honda, hardly any options, but if the package suits you all you need is a color. =o)
Looking to buy an EX-L with the 4-cyl, 5-Speed Manual. Edmunds shows MSRP at $22,900 and invoice at $21,069. That's only $1,831 difference. Not much room to bargin. So, is invoice a reasonable expectation? Is it still too early to bargin? I can wait, but it seams the EX-L-5-Speeds are a little more difficult to locate. If anyone would post their opinion or experience, I would appreciate it.
berob asked: "Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this but is leather an option on the LX V6? I'm getting the sense that only navigation is an option. Also, for those who have purchased one or driven one, does the V6 provide nice acceleration? "
The new 240hp V6 is great. I had a 99V6 coupe with 200hp and it was nice but the added power and overall refinement of the 03 Accord is awesome. The interior changes make it feel like a much more expensive car and the 5 speed auto is slick so I am thinking about a new Accord now. Leather is only available through Honda on the EX models so you would have to go aftermarket if you want it on an LX. NAvi is an option on the EX models only.
I doubt you will be able to get a new Accord at invoice. In my area they are being discounted $1000-$1200 off MSRP but on a harder to find combo you will probably get less off.
Be prepared for MSRP or a premium over MSRP for this one. The 6-speed with NAVI will not even be out in the first run and most dealers will only be getting one v6 6-speed around March. Dealers that sell larger volumes should get more later in the year and that is when the NAVI 6 speeds will be arriving.
We've been looking for a 5-speed EX-L since the Accords came out. We have seen 1 5-speed EX sedan and a couple of LX 5-speed coupes but have yet to see a EX-L 5-speed coupe or sedan. Finally found one on the build list and put a deposit on it. Should be here on the 20th .. so to make a long story short there does seem to be a shortage of the manual tranny Accords out there even here in Atlanta where there are some pretty high volume Honda dealers. Here's the deal we got:
36 month lease/15k per year $1000 down $325 p/month
This deal includes fog lights, spoiler, mud guards etc. or about $1300 in accessories.
know how you feel... I bought the only EX 5MT in the western states avail. on Nov 01. Love the car, wish it were the EX-L. My salesperson was very straight up. 610 above invoice for any trim of Accord. =o)
I talked to Gwinnett Place Honda in Atlanta about the 6MT. They claim to be the second largest Honda dealer in the US. They said they'll be getting 20 6MTs a month. The only evidence I've seen from Honda is the move order which technically only says that all dealers will receive one 6MT. Not that they will ONLY get one, just that they WILL get one and they still have the option to order more. Plus, all the dealers will be getting at least one 6MT w/o Navi, but no one has mentioned how many they'll get WITH Navi.
The dealer we are getting our EX-L coupe from has 2 6MT's coming, both with NAV. The only consistent thing we have heard from the dealers is they do have deposits and they won't be discounting them. Still a good deal though considering Mitsu wants $26,000 for an Eclipse.
I was looking for price quotes for a Honda Accord LX-V6 through various Internet auto services, Edmunds, cars.com, Autobytel, etc. The invoice on this is $20,699, retail is $23,000, plus a $460 destination fee. I got responses like "I need to know when you need it" instead of actually just giving me a price. One of the first quotes was for $23,000. (They called it a "sale" price). I wonder if they even included the destination fee into their "sale" price.
So the next step I took was to take a suggestion from www.motleyfool.com, which was to fax the dealerships and tell I'm ready to buy a car, and I wanted bids. I got three responses out of five dealerships, $22,460, $22,560, and $22,660. This is close to the TMV listed on Edmunds site, but I had seen much better deals available on this message board (thank you for your posts!).
I had also seen posts that say dealers in Minnesota don't budge much with the prices. I still wanted an accord, but I didn't want to pay $22,600 when dealers elsewhere were selling it for a few hundred over invoice. So I expanded my quotes outside of the Minnesota area to Wisconsin, South Dakota, Illinois. I got back a quote for the LX V-6 of 20,881.12 from David Hobbs Honda of Milwaukee. I didn't have a trade-in that was worth anything, and was wondering how I'd get to Milwaukee to buy the car. I found I could buy an Amtrak ticket from St. Paul, MN to Milwaukee for $68 (or $44 for advance purchases). So I talked to the internet manager about availability, and the color I had wasn't available, but they did have the EX like it in stock. I checked the price he gave me, it was under invoice for the EX-V6. Less than $700 more than it would have cost in Minneapolis for the LX-V6. So I took the Amtrak, bought the car, and drove it back. I've had it for only 6 days now, but it's pretty sweet. I won't be driving a Neon again any time soon.
I don't know if there are any year-end incentives right now, maybe something I heard about competition with Toyota. I was wondering if the price quotes might go up in January?
If you are in Minnesota:
1) Get a quote from David Hobbs Honda of Milwaukee through Edmunds or cars.com (I don't remember which one it was, but it had a radius indicator for dealership distance). 2) Take the Amtrak to Milwaukee for $44 or $68 3) Take a cab to the dealer for $21. 4) Buy the car there and save $1500. Maybe more?
the only catch is they want to use their own financing. I got 5.9% over 5 years but I might pay it off sooner.
FYI - your 5.9 over 5 years adds up to as much as you saved I'd think. If you paid 23,500 at 5.9% for 60 months, as opposed to the 3.99 offered by Honda, you spent and extra $1,233. Or even if you used the peoplefirst loan rate of 4.75% you spent an extra $700. I only note it for all those who might follow. I assume your exact details are a bit off these #'s, but it is still something for others to remember. My advice to others is use my post earlier, get a good quote a week or so before xmass, and confirm that it will be honored through xmass, when I expect Honda might reintroduce the 3.99%. I did that right before Thanksgiving, and besides the good quote, I saved $600 over the 60mths on the difference between the 3.99 I got from Honda and the 4.74% available from peoplefirst.com for Costco members. It all adds up if your not paying cash.
I'll post the details later, but the deal is done. Grand Honda, $25,680, ($208 over invoice) with mud flaps and door edge guards (they wouldn't remove them no matter how hard I argued; purchase price is $108 on College Hills Accessories site, so they made an extra $100ish over invoice). So a bit over umyaya's price, but the best I could do after 4 hours of bickering. Not quite the clean internet deal I was hoping for. Details to follow, probably on the "Honda Accord" list.
I think you did quite well on price. I've heard the price on NAVI's, unlike other models, is going up... but that's just what a dealer told me. Mine came with the same mud guards, etc., they call it the "appearance package" right. I think it's standard really, so I don't know why they want us to pay for it. I hope you enjoy the car, I love it so far... it makes me just yurn to take a really long road trip. I love driving it.
I must've contacted at least 10 dealers in the area including Jim Coleman Honda in Maryland as umyaya got such a good price. I wasn't able to get near umyaya's price though despite Johnathan Barnwell actually answering my request for a quote through there website. Johnathan was very straightforward with me with his price and very quick to respond to my emails. I appreciate that and for the record, he was only several hundred dollars above my lowest quote. MD is also further out for me.
However, I have just placed the order with D&C Honda based in Tenafly, NJ for $25,993 ($521 over invoice). I am working with Douglas Daniele and he gave me a good quote and told me I should have my car by early January. I am anxiously expecting it.
Most other dealers were quoting MSRP but I think they will have to lower their price when the Navigation systems roll out in masses. The demand may be a little higher now as it is not out and few dealerships can get their hands on one until the scheduled distribution date in several weeks.
Will post back when I get the car and start using the Navigation
Hi, I got a quote on EX-L 2003 ivory leather + wood trim at invoice this Monday. And my goal is to do 200 under invoice for this car. I am living in NJ. The dealers' quote like stock market, whenever you think you see the bottem, it just tanks in front of your eyes. I think I am using internet pretty successfully and I am good at negociating. But if you don't have time, you should be happy to pay any price r you got. See my old post for more info. Feel free to contact me. IMHO.
Glad to hear that even if Johnathan couldn't get you the car it was a good experience. He had emailed me that prices were going up again in the NAVI, as I think word was hitting the street faster than the cars were. I can't wait to hear your thoughts on the NAVI system and any tricks you find or love most. I don't know if I've totally mastered it yet. Well I know I haven't. You really need a nice day to just sit in your driveway learning the easiest way to enter this, save that, or access stored stuff. It can do allot! I forgot until just now that it had a calender...
I didn't mention that I put $10,000 down on the car, plus paying for the tax and license here in Minnesota :P So I am financing a little more than half the price of the car.
I didn't know about the 3.99 financing, but I wanted to get it before Christmas anyway. I am giving my 1995 Neon to my sister. This may be a blessing, or it may be a curse to her :P
Since the 5.9% was over five years, if I don't prepay anything, it will be a finance charge of about $2,000. With a 4.5% financing using PeopleFirst and the local dealer's prices it would have been $1,070. If I were to pay the 5.9% in three years, the financing would be $1,246.88. (I checked twice that there is no prepayment penalty.) So it really isn't that much more. $180 of interest vs. $1600-$1800 more in the car. Plus, even at 4.5% vs 5.9%, I am paying 4.5% on an additional $1600 to $1800 dollars.
My payments are $250 a month, which will help for refinancing my house (mortgage insurance, yuck), and when that's done I will probably pay $500-$600 a month. So I don't have to feel guilty I don't like debts!
But the whole point is will behoove you to look outside of your area, especially here in Minnesota.
I finally bought a new Accord after doing alot of research and dealer searching. Bought a silver 4 door EX 4 cyl. w/ Navi. I almost got the six, but I didn't for a couple of resons. One, I like the wheels better on the 4 cyl., and it gets better fuel economy. Also, osme of the additional features I don't really need, so it was worth paying $2000 less. I paid $300 over invoice at Pompano Honda in Florida. Collin Owen was the internet manager and was straight forward and honest from initial conversations, just had the over invoice lowered. Coral Springs Honda said they'd do invoice when I mentioned Pompano would do for $500 over and I wanted invoice. Would you believe they b.s.'ed me and said they had a dealer fee at the table, and didn't say so when I said no dealer fee's on phone before I drove out and wasted a trip. Later, he said he'd drop $100 off Pompano to $200 over, and I said it wasn't worth my time going to them for a $100. I did the deal at Pompano, and Coral Springs said they'd do for invoice finally. Said I did the deal, and frankly, I feel better about it since Pompano Honda was honest all the way, through. We just negotiated more as time went by.
every car on the lot shows 1200 dollars added sticker for paint sealant, fabric protector etc. The 399.00 is inside when they write up the deal . When I said no to that after we agreed on 22200, all he did was make the price 21801 and then added the 399.00 to make it 22200.
Alas, after mass e-mailing internet managers inquiring about the cream of the crop accord, I struck a deal and placed a reservation. $1,000 down to be the first in line to get a black on black 6-speed coupe w/ navigation. Despite all the hype, I got the final agreed upon price of $28,160. "The only fees to be added are sales tax and tags", as stated by the i-manager. So basically, I got it for $200 under msrp. Not bad huh?
I got for invoice, add $460 destination, and $300 plus tax, tags. No dealer b.s. fees like everyone else. I got w/o a trade-in also. Love the car, great value! Love the navi also! The 4 cyl. has enough pep for flat Florida roads, and I actually like the 4 cyl.'s wheels better. I don't mind not having 4 way passenger power seats, or the homelink. I don't need traction control either in sunny Florida. I would have liked the curtain airbags though. Hopefully, that'll be a non-issue also. I am very satisfied with the car, and the experience dealing with Collin Owen at Pompano honda. Tell him I sent you, he'll do good by you I'm sure.
I am fairly new to this forum but have been reading on occasion when time permitted. I am ready to buy a new 2003 Accord EX V6, 2 door, automatic transmission, in graphite pearl or silver, leather interior, that's it. I am willing to drive 100 miles in any direction from Pasadena CA 91101 (or Los Angeles).
What are some of the prices you have paid (out the door would be helpful) with these features? I am sick and tired of the BS'ing dealers give, and basically want to just walk in and walk out as quickly as possible, while still in a good mood. I am trying to help my daughter in this purchase; I want her to finance $10,000 for 3 years, and I'll put down the rest in cash.
Robtfl, Im just wondering why you didnt just drop the navigation and get the EX-V6? How often do you really think you will be using the NAv, its a nice toy, but I think its more of a status symbol then anythign else. Good luck with the car, either way it was a great buy.
Looks like dealers are ready to sell at the invoice in NJ
I got two quotes from different sales people at DHC Academy honda in oldbridge, NJ. They both quoted me the car at the invoice price plus DMV ($92) and Document Fee ($99)
I've also got a smilar quote from RT 22 Honda
anybody was able to buy this car below invoice in NJ?
Did any of you buy accessories with your new honda? how much did you pay? was installation included? I am looking for: 1) rear-wing spoiler 2) automatically dimming day/night rearview mirror
as I've said in my previous post two dealerships offered me EX V6 at the invoice try them and see if they will offer EX-L NAVI at the invoice price
when comparing quotes make sure you ask what fees are added to the price at RT 22 HONDA and DHCA Academy Honda DMV FEE and DOC FEE are around $100 each
as far as I know there SHOULD NOT BE any other charges added (just sales tax)
I mention this because some other dealership told me that document fee is $189 (that was Planet Honda in Union, NJ) a guy from Madison Honda tried to add $460 to the final price, claiming that this is not a destination charge but something else... etc...
also, it looks like all dealerships offering 3.99% apr financing. Don't agree for higher rate
just make sure there is no hidden charges, that's all.
Good luck! Please post here about your experience after you buy a car
I read your mail and im looking for others that have recently purchased a 2003 Accord EX V6- i am in the Philly area and plan on buying one by end of the year- my email is jetznut674@yahoo.com
I am looking at leasing an 03 Accord EX 5 spd and just wondering what kind of prices one can expect.Would anyone like to share their numbers on a recent lease they made?
jjfish: We are leasing a 2003 Accord EX-L 5-speed coupe for 325 p/month with 15,000 miles per year for 36 months. $1,000 down. Price includes fog lights, rear spoiler, and all of the misc. accessories (mud guards, fenderwell trim, paint protectant). This deal is in Georgia.
I found a dealer in southen NJ that is selling the v6 6-speed coupe w/ navigation for $500 under sticker; no other fees except sales tax, dmv, and doc. $27,860. No one claimed it, so I put a deposit. I'm first in line. Good deal?
$25,100 is a fair price. In regards to my configuration, apparently the 6-speeds won't come out in the same numbers as the automatics. It's a supply/demand thing.
Now can anyone tell me the latest on the expected arrival date of the 6-speed coupe w/ navigation?
I've been searching the net on other people's deals and three times I've seen claims that they got deals of $800 over invoice. I read that someone called the second largest honda dealer (i think it's in atl) and they claimed that they are expecting to receive 20 6-speeds* a month. Also, a dealer in NY is claiming that the dealership is going to receive 2 6-speeds* a month.
*im not to sure of the specific trim of their allocations (navi)*
I'm starting to second guess my deposit for $500 under msrp for the top of the line coupe. What do you guys think?
Just for my curiousity, and to make it easy for everyone, when we say invoice plus $$$, can we state if that is invoice plus $460 destination, then plus $$$. I ask because I know at times on carsdirect I'd seen prices as low as 23,374 for the EX-V6, which could be called invoice plus $$$, or invoice minus $$$ depending on if you view destination charges as a standard expense.
Hi, I am going to pick my EX-L today. As I said in my previous post, I got the final price of 200 under invoice for this one. The total our of door price is about 23000. 200 registration/document + 6% tax. The dealer is DCH of Paramus. I got three quotes at or under invoice and don't want to waste time any more. The insurance costs about 300$ a month. Does any one have good insurance companies that work in NJ?

The new 240hp V6 is great. I had a 99V6 coupe with 200hp and it was nice but the added power and overall refinement of the 03 Accord is awesome. The interior changes make it feel like a much more expensive car and the 5 speed auto is slick so I am thinking about a new Accord now. Leather is only available through Honda on the EX models so you would have to go aftermarket if you want it on an LX. NAvi is an option on the EX models only.

Where did you get this offer from?
What do you mean by "Don"t pay the 399 dealer fee or the 1200 dollars dealer add ons"?
Are you saying they wanted to charge you these costs on top of the 22,200 but you didn't?
Please clarify this.

robtfl, I would have done the same. In flat S. Florida, you'll get more use and fun out of the Navi than the V6.
