Did the $23695 price include destination charge? Sounds like you got a great deal. Congrats! I am still trying to decide EX-V6 +/- Nav. Would love the hybrid, but I am sure the wait/premium will be high for awhile when it finally arrives.
24,584 for EX V6 6 Speed (250 over invoice)
4,400 for HFP & installation
28,984 + title, tags, tax
The HFP really makes the car look unique. It lowers the ride about 1" with tuned suspension that really lets you take the curves. The wheels and ground effects add interesting lines the coupe's otherwise smooth exterior. If you are going with the 6-speed, check out the HFP.
Yes, the $23695 included destination. Just add tax, doc fee, title/license.
I went to the 3 Vegas dealer websites to get the fleet/internet sales manager e-mail addresses & sent an email to each of them. In the e-mail, I told them I was serious about purchasing that weekend in order to take advantage of the special financing. I said that I would purchase from the first one to reply closest to my offering price of $20,800 for an 04 EX cloth 4cyl auto with curtain airbags in graphite pearl ($209 under invoice).
I got various replies from all 3 dealerships. One just e-mailed me with their standard SAMS Club/internet pricing ($600 over invoice). Another sent back a standard form letter asking how serious I was about buying (they later called & didn’t have my color in an EX). The Honda West internet/fleet sales manager called & said he could match my offer, but only had my color option without curtain airbags.
What I didn’t like was that this dealership pre-installs window tint, pinstriping, door edge guards, body side trim, fenderwell trim, splash guards, wheel locks & cargo tray on each and every one of their cars. I voiced my displeasure, and he said he would include them at his cost + installation. Normally I would walk away from this stuff, but I figured the interest savings would offset the cost. I also got a wing spoiler installed at his cost (a must with that frumpy Accord rear end).
So, here’s the breakdown:
$20,800 (sales price including destination - $61 over invoice)
$1,248 (accessories)
$189 (http://www.phantomfootprints.com – installed on all Hondas here)
$399 doc fee (non-negotiable at all dealerships here)
$22,636 (taxable sales price)
$1,698 (7.5% Nevada sales tax)
$28 (title)
$39 (registration)
$24,401 (out the door)
If you don’t mind all of the dealer add-ons, I would highly recommend this dealership if you live in Vegas. The internet sales manager was an extremely nice guy, no haggling or trickery. The service department guys are very nice, too.
I figured I’d post this for anyone who isn’t buying an EXV6 (which seems to be very few on this board). It’s not the greatest deal, but not the worst. I wasn’t out to rob them, just wanted a good deal with minimal hassle.
What is IN the "out the door" price that you were quoted? The term "out the door" can mean many things to many people. Is there a trade involved? Are there any dealer installed add-ons? Any dealer "fees" that should be negotiated out? Does the figure include local taxes (different in all parts of the country)?
The total dealer cost of the vehicle that you've described, after removing the $699 dealer holdback, is $20,759. That means that there is an additional $2,052.70 somewhere in your deal. Allowing for a few hundred dollars profit, it would appear that you should be able to do significantly better.
I am looking for a manual 2004 accord ex with navi...grey on black. Is invoice possible on this car?
What should I expect to pay for this car in the tri state area?
Also is there a website to search dealers inventory(searching specifically if a car has manual and nav)
Thank you in advance for your replies.
Thanks
Ash
oh - btw - I have been offered 20800 for EX with curtain air bags - OTD - I have been in the market for the longest time and now I think this might be it....I don't think I can possibly do better than this....
Lastly, you'll have less "new car life" with the Camry; it's older in design by one year.
The Accord rides fairly hard, but the overall feel of the car is sportier and more appealing to some people--certainly for me. The Accord's brakes felt stronger, too.
You'll spend more time looking at the interior of your car than the exterior. In my opinion, the Camry's interior was bland and uninspired--the Accord's electroluminescent guages and other interior fittings were much better.
You won't go wrong with either car, but test them both with the above in mind.......Richard
The color is Redondo Red. I think you see more on that color.
It is like buying new shoes, Camry fits like a slippers, or sneakers. But Honda feels like a pair of Bostonian, and it will last and make you feel better and better...

Those torso-level side air bags are nominally protective; however, a recent study showed MUCH greater protection from side CURTAIN air bags that cover front and rear side windows if the car is hit on the side. Curtain air bags protect your head--your BRAIN!
You can identify a Honda Accord with side CURTAIN air bags by looking at the post at the edge of the wind shield ("A" pillar) inside the car. Accords with curtain air bags will say so in a little square stamped into the plastic covering on the A pillar.
If you can, get side CURTAIN air bags because if the worst happens, they might save you....Richard
Few shoppers want five speeds to begin with. Add a Navi to that and you have a VERY unique car that would appeal to very few.
Dealers order the cars that appeal to the masses.
Still, a car I wouldn't mind owning myself if weren't for my five speed hating wife!
21,800 for the V6 camry OTD?
that's a pretty convincing argument for the Camry if I were on the fence. It definitely takes the resale issue off the table.
thanks in advance guys...
This is the first time I am purchasing a car by myself, so what else do you think I should do?? Any add-ons (like splash guards) that I could ask?? What should I expect??
I already got an email from another dealership who says they can beat this price, but didn't say what they're offering.
Been reading this forum for a while now. It's a great source.
Am also trading in a Honda Civic 94 4-door LX.
Need some feedback, please. Thanks in advance.
I don't know where you're located, but Fletcher Jones Imports on North Clark Street has an EX-L 5MT sedan with navi in black, according to the inventory sheet on their website.
$26,432 including all destination and handling charges.
I got this offer just by sending over an e-mail. So I could grind them down a bit more in person.
Thank you for your responses guys,
~T
Surprises could include, among others, pre-installed accessories which you didn't talk about and which you'll be asked to pay, excessive (more than 50) miles on the odo, and a high APR when financing (best to have approved loan; if not, at least know your beacon score).
You'll probably be offered
1) extended warranty (one can buy this right before original factory warranty runs out at the same or lower rate; why have a paid "extended" overlap a free "factory" ?) and
2) "gap" insurance to cover the car note in case regular insurance isn't enough for a suddenly totalled car (no need if your downpayment will cover the drive-out depreciation; otherwise, ask personal insurance company to quote before buying).
Some homework needed, but worth it imo. Hope this helps.
Where did you purchase your EX V6 6Sp coupe with HFP package? How is the ride with the HFP? Do you know if you can you purchase the suspension components separately? What exactly are the suspension mods, and do you have any part numbers?
Thank You.
Thank You.
Since you have not indicated whether the 2004 V6 Accord with Navigation that you are interested in is a Coupe or a Sedan, here are the total dealer cost figures, including Destination, after removal of dealer Holdback:
Coupe: $25,276 (I'd offer no more than $25,700)
Sedan: $25,189 (I'd offer no more than $25,600)
You mentioned that "handling charges" were in your $26,432 figure. Since that term can mean just about anything to anybody, it's your call. I wouldn't pay anything more than $50 for paper processing though. Best of luck.
So, are you buying the Accord, the Acura CL or the Lexus GS?
I decided to leave the GS out this time around. I am looking at the Accord coupe V6 with Navi.
The Acura I was interested in but the Accord coupe seems to have a better interior and XM radio.
Another dealer (Herb Chambers, Boston, 02125) called to let me know they can beat the $ 26432 price by several hundred dollars. They would not give an exact quote unless I put down a refundable deposit of 500 bucks. Have an appointment to go speak with the Internet Sales Advisor today and I will keep your numbers handy.
I test drove the V6 awhile back and it was very good. I am curious to check out the four cylinder version as well to see if it would suffice in Boston.
Could you also tell me the price for the four cylinder 2004 Accord Coupe EX w/ Nav?
Before I go in, I will make sure (probably over the phone) if they will have any hidden charges like the ones you mentioned.
I got another email from another dealership saying they'll give me $100 off what I've been offered. Still waiting on the others.
Do you think I've been quoted a good price??
Thanks again.
On your trade, Edmunds quotes $1400 as trade-in value for a 150k/automatic/good condition sample. In the open market, your LX should fetch about $2100.
This would be my month-end strategy:
1) New car price: $23,600 including dest. (backed out 3% holdback) plus $284 misc. plus 5% sales tax = $25,080 Gross Out-The-Door
2) Minus trade: $2,100 (they can still sell the car for $3,300 dealer retail per Edmunds, so they'll still make money on the trade)
3) Net Out-The-Door: $22,980.00
Agressive? Yes. Unrealistic ? No. The above deal puts you at about $710 below invoice. Others have achieved up to $2000 below (myself, $900).
You may need to adjust the trade-in numbers if 150k miles and good overall condition don't apply; use Edmunds' Used Car appraiser.
If getting financing, and you know your creditworthiness, use the payment calculator link on the top of this page ("financing as low as 3.99%"). With good credit, might as well use 3.99% for APR. If Honda has an APR promo, use that in the calculation.
You'll then have a Monthly Payment Target that has factual base. Shop the dealers in the area; one of them might have excess inventory which they might just let go at your payment target.
Note: While the Monthly Payment Target is my recommended "Walk-Out Price," you might find it interesting to know how, during negotiation, we all can be talked out of our Payment Target. For example, if they say "come on, it's just another $20 to your monthly payment," and you have a 60-month term, the impact to you is $1200 ($20 x 60 months). You'd have given up your purchase goal in that scenario.
Good luck.
The car cost was 25,500 including handling and destination fees. There was an additional 300 or so for registration and other fees.
I got 10% off for wheel locks and body side protection kit.
Opted in for lo-jack (hope it is worth it?) for 695 bucks.
Out the door price with all that was $28,200.
The dealer was Herbs in Boston.
Hope I did ok, either way done with it. Thanks everyone for all your suggestions and tips.

PS: I test drove the 4 cylinder auto, decided to go with the V6. The difference to me in smoothness was worth the additional expense.
19500 OTD for a 2003 Brand new EX - including ALL TAXES REGISTRATION PLATES ETC....nothing else - no dealer incentives....
I pray to god that I made the right decision - I am scheduled to accept the delivery on Monday....
I have one question - I test drove two cars - first has over 110 miles on it so I refused...the second one had a dead battery - the dealer gave it a boost jump so that I could take it out for a drive...and it was heavenly.....except - the yellow engine light came on - the guy said maybe it was due to a loose gas cap or something - he said he will check it out before giving delivery..should I accept it or get a new one???
Thanks guys for your input...

Jumpnjoe: Natick offered you less, so there is evidence there that I can at least ask for less if they are willing to do it for you, then there should be no reason the lowest they can go for me is $24,144... congrats on your new car, what did you get??
I do want to do it towards the end of the month, because it seems that at that time, they are more willing to negotiate my way because of quotas, etc... So guys, cross your fingers... Herb Chambers in Seekonk emailed me and want to talk...
as far as the shopping experience goes - let me just say - it was the BEST - the dealer/salesman both were very very courteous...he listened to all the negative points about honda (WITHOUT bashing CAMRY - which was my another choice) - and not once did he jump in and cut me off. There was almost no haggling - and the manager was very accomodating as well. The poor salesman spend half an hour in the cold wind to try and jumpstart the car so that I could test drive it.
I will ceratinly recommend this dealer with any hesitation - pm me if you want the name of the manager adn salesman ( as its against the rules to post names here). The name of the dealer was open road honda in edison NJ...they have quite a few 2003's left....I am sure he will give you guys the same deal..
