Just leased a 09 Camry LE Automatic V4 from Russel Toyota in MD.
Paid $2500 (total) today to get it OTD. (includes tax, title, fees, 1st month lease payment - everything)
    Monthly $214.16 x 35 months
Residual/ Lease End Buy Option: 13260 (or close to this)
Total Payments in 3 yrs: 9995
36 months lease with 36K total miles. Additional miles @0.15.
I believe GAP insurance is NOT included. It was offered, but I declined it without even checking for its price.

Metallic silver color with 50 state emission + Floor Mats pkg ($199) with full tank of gas and new plates installed by the dealer !!

It was a nice Toyota car buying experience, after having very bad experiences with Honda dealers located in the Ellicott City and Clarksville, MD. This is our sixth car that we bought/leased in the last 10 years.

Sounds good - if you wait too long, that price increase could hit!

    MSRP: $28235
    Freight & Delivery: $1370
Federal Excise Tax - Airconditioning: $100
    Block Heater: $142
    Tire Levy: $20
    GST: $1493.38
    TOTAL: 31,360.88

I was able to negociate $2000 down plus $1500 Toyota Cash Incentive, so the total cash out the door was : $27860, 88

I wonder if I had a good price.

Just picked up a Camry XLE V6 with Navigation, bluetooth, ..... for $350/month x 36 months with total $1500 out of pocket. Color: White
    Location: New Jersey
Credit Score: 675, no negative items.
    MSRP: 32377
    Selling price close to 28700.
I don't remember the money factor. Residual was 59%.
I only negotiated on monthly payment and out of pocket. the whole process took less than one hour. I didn't provide any documents (paystubs,.....).
  • kiawahkiawah Member Posts: 3,666
Why did you pay extra for the Freight and Delivery...that's already included in the MSRP.
  • btalmagebtalmage Member Posts: 6
they say a fool only negotiates monthly payment and out of pocket, but not so if Leasing. If your payments only $350 for 36 mos, then obviously you have a lease, and monthly payments and out of pocket are all anyone should care about, except for residual and mileage limits. I think a 58% residual is way too high, should be more like 50-53%, I would think. Did you go to the Leases forums and read up? Leases are tricky to determine a "good" deal from a bad one. They may tell you they don't negotiate price on leases, but that's BS. The lower the price, the lower the lease amount, Watch out for the MF money factor, that is the best point after price to negotiate, it can be all over the place, and residual is negotiable too, as are the miles per year and the cents per mile over that when you turn it in. If you go way over on miles at the lease end, then you're stuck paying out $500 or more. At that point you could offer to buy it from them at a lower price than they offer you, which they do at lease end. Then buy it and go sell it yourself. You will be able to sell it for more than you bought it for, and you avoid paying the lender the 15c a mile or whatever for wear & tear. Usually another way to avoid paying all that extra at the end is to offer to lease another one from them. Btw, the 2009 Camry XLE V6s have $1000 rebate now to get them moving off the lots. That means the purchase price should be around $25K with leather/nav.

I dont know if the US system works the same way here in Canada but I checked the CarCost Canada website and this is what it says:

    Retail Price *
    Base $28,235.00
    Freight $1,240.00

    Optional equipment selected
    - FEDERAL AIR CONDITIONING EXCISE TAX (-EXTAX) $100.00
    - VALUE PKG B -inc: STD equipment (B__) $0.00
    - STANDARD PAINT (-PT) $0.00

    - New Freight $1370 (FI) $130.00

Totals including all items above: $29,705.00
  • kiawahkiawah Member Posts: 3,666
    Hmmm....can't speak for Canada.

In the U.S., the MSRP sticker price on the window, clearly itemizes and includes the freight into the total MSRP.

Has anyone purchased a 2009 Camry LE in the Memphis area? If so, what is the best quote that you have received, and from where? My husband had a botched oil change on his 2000 Camry, and it blew the engine. We are pretty certain that insurance is going to total out the vehicle. If this is the case, we will most likely replace it with another Camry. We are looking at the base LE model, but we are also possibly interested in adding 17" alloy wheels, 6 disc CD and VSC. This alll depends on what kind of deal we can get on a new car. We were totally unprepared to purchase a new vehicle at this point, as we just bought a new Honda Odyssey in June! It seems like there were so many more price quotes, strategies, buying experiences, etc. that were posted back in June. The rebates and special financing that were being offerred from the dealerships was also better. Has this slowed down now that the 2009s are readily available and the 2008s are virtually gone? Any strategies in getting a fair settlement from insurance, etc.? I welcome any other suggestions, recommendations, etc. Thanks, Dawn

    Hi Friends,
I need quick help on this:
I just got new LE with VSC. Dealer gave me sale price after 500 discount in the quote but when i went to do the paperwork, they put taxes on the amount before 500 rebate. In short, i end up paying more tax!
Is this how it's supposed to be done? Please help with your experiences, i would appreciate it. And if they did not do my paperwork right, what are my options now?

I've had toyota a lot of good experience. So just asking is the camry a better choice or the accord? Also thinking about the lexus IS

It depends on your individual state, but generally, that is correct. The price is taxed before rebates are deducted.

    Hello Kyfdx
and thanks for clarifying. It gives me peace of mind. One more quick question: i read in one of the psots about warning about cars having been in either flood or hailstorms etc. How can i find out if my new car was part of any of it? It drives really harder than the car i had tried...I checked the sticker on drivers side: it says 7/08..

    btalmage, excellent explanation!

I am interested in purchasing a 2009 camry XLE V6 in a couple of weeks. If you are aware of any dealerships who are offering this car around the price you stated (25k), please email me asap at keertig@yahoo.com
  • kiawahkiawah Member Posts: 3,666
Dream on. If you can find a 2009 XLE w/Nav (a 32K MSRP vehicle) for 25K....you should buy all they have!

Perhaps the dealership can make up the loss, with higher volume.

    Hi,
I'm buyin a 09 Camry LE V4 with moonroof option in Seattle area.
Can anyone share your experience in buying 09 Camry LE in Seattle area?
What will be the OTD price for 09 Camry LE with moonroof option in Seattle area?

    Thanks
  • brentuncbrentunc Member Posts: 3
Five days ago I purchased an 09 Camry Hybrid with leather, heated seats, nav, XM, spoiler, side molding, mats, mud guards, security system, Ipod connection, window etching, and extra care protection (undercarriage and paint protection) for $30,376+TTL with an MSRP of $32,902 ($2,526 off). On top of this I received a $400 military rebate and the 7yr/100,000 toyota extended warranty for $990. OTD price was $33,092 which means that I walked out of the dealership with a Camry hybrid with extended warranty for < $200 over MSRP. I originally was set to get about $1700 off with negotiating and then received the Ipod, etching, and extra care protection for "free" as I did not ask for it despite the local port adding it in. This was in the San Antonio area.

I am in FL. The dealer offered $22500 for LE with sunroof. But I do not think it is a good deal. My goal is $21500
  • archarkonarcharkon Member Posts: 4
My brother got LE with moonroof and upgraded rims for 22400 in MD (with 6% tax , 100 proc. fee and 237 tags included )
  • hah1hah1 Member Posts: 5
I just got an offer - 21300 (out the door) for 09 LE with sunroof, but I have to finance with Toyota with 6.5% APR. I do not know it is a good deal. I am in FL.

I just bought a Brand New 2009 Camry LE V6 with Full Mat Set including Rear Trunk and Full tint for 23K drive out. It was $21,400 + TTL. Do you think this is a good deal. Got the Metallic Gray Color !! It's for my dad !!
  • hah1hah1 Member Posts: 5
I just got an new offer for 09 LE with sunroof, rear spoiler and carpet mats: $21,200 (out the door, including everything). But I checked the website, there is no option of spoiler for 09 LE. Is there any tricky for it? Did the dealer install the spoiler?
In addition, if the mileage is 200, is it too high for a new car?

    Thanks for any response!

TX dealership pricing for Camry is nowhere near the range of prices being quoted here from other states. I've received quotes from DFW dealerships and OTD prices are all above MSRP.
  • brentuncbrentunc Member Posts: 3
My experience in Texas is don't buy from Dallas; for some reason they think or they can charge well above MSRP. It is possible, given my example and my offers from other dealers to get below MSRP on a hybrid - I would say that at least $1000 off would be the bare minimum to be considered a deal and I had numerous offers for the amount (this was in the last two months when the deals started drying up on them). The key thing is to not buy off of a lot; most people want instant gratification and pay a premium for that; you won't get a great deal on those. Order one and you'll get a better deal (hybrid specifically because of the demand)...

    Hi,

I was just reading this thread and thought I'd share. My cousin and I just bought new cars yesterday night. I got the Toyota Corolla and he bought the Toyota Camry. His camry was a fully loaded XLE, with Navi, moonroof, everything!!! The dealer gave it to us below invoice pricing for $25,100. I believe the OTD price was about $28,500 (I can't remember the exact number because i was getting my own car, but it was about $28k). Since we were both getting our cars, they gave us "free" alarms too. And we financed through their dealership and got 5.1%...which is a lot better than our credit union, which offered 5.75%.

If you have questions or need clarification, let me know. Thanks and good luck to everybody buying a new car.
  • kiawahkiawah Member Posts: 3,666
    Is that a 4 cylinder-5spd XLE, or a 6 cylinder-6spd?
  • sweetoothsweetooth Member Posts: 23
When you say out the door, you mean Tax and title is included? Which state?
  • crisorcancrisorcan Member Posts: 3
It was a 4 cylinder automatic XLE
  • gerriberrigerriberri Member Posts: 44
Ended up paying $19k + ttl for 09 LE
    4cyl auto w/power seats,keyless entry,body molding,rear spoiler,trunk/floor mats,cargo net Long negoiations..but went in last day of the month (also through internet/fleet dept),which helped.Ithink I got a great deal! Agreed?
  • kiawahkiawah Member Posts: 3,666
    That's reasonable.

The other poster was trying to get the 6 cylinder for the same price range.
  • sweetoothsweetooth Member Posts: 23
    Gerriberri,
How much was it out the door ( 6% tax?)
  • gerriberrigerriberri Member Posts: 44
TOD price was $20,400.Tax here is 7.75%.(Too much! Haha) and the dealership was on other side of town (@35 miles) and they delivered the car to my home!

I Just Bought a 09' Camry LE 4cly with Carpet/Trunk Mat and Moonroof for OTD Price $22,150.

I down paid $4,000 when I purchase the car and I'll pay the rest of em as in payment for 60 months.

APR is 4.9% for 60 months. It's about $2,400 just for the Finance (60 Months).

    OTD Price $22,150 + Finance for 60 Months $2,400 = about $24,550.

is $24,550 for 09' Camry LE with Carpet/Trunk Mat and Moonroof is Good Price ?
  • lucky_777lucky_777 Member Posts: 205
You didn't say what area you're from. Prices seem to be a little better on west coast then on east coast. I payed $21K OOD (with 7.75% tax) for 09 LE I4 with Carpet/Trunk Mat in Ohio
  • kiawahkiawah Member Posts: 3,666
You don't give all of the cost details, but assuming the MSRP on that vehicle is right around 23,500, then a reasonable negotiated vehicle price would be about 20,250 (give or take). You can add the tax and title for your location to that, for the OTD cash price.

A good reference site is www.fitzmall.com
  • camry_09camry_09 Member Posts: 2
The area is San Jose, California.

Is it good price ? Thank You
  • lucky_777lucky_777 Member Posts: 205
I'd expect to get better deal in CA. Look at post #6717 for Vegas pricing, it is fairly close to you so pricing should be similar. Deal is done now, enjoy your car!
  • kiawahkiawah Member Posts: 3,666
I don't know your state/county/city tax rates, and what your DMV fees are. Get a calculator and add those on.

It's kind of too late anyhow, the deal is done.

Enjoy your car, sounds like you got a great car that you'll be happy with.
  • sweetoothsweetooth Member Posts: 23
    GerriBerri,
Didn't the dealer charge you documentation fee? and tags and title...probably it was included in your 19k? Deal is really good, congrats! :)

I got my 09 LE V6 in San Jose on July 4th. The only option is the floor+trunk mats. The OTD# was less than yours.

When quoting OTD price omit sales tax and licence fees, it confuses the issue. Good Florida dealer Germain Toyota in Sarasota internet only
  • hah1hah1 Member Posts: 5
The dealer gave me a very good price for a new 09 LE. However, I checked the VIN via Carfax and noticed that there is one record on Aug 25 - it shows:
    Vehicle offered for sale

Does it mean that the car was sold (then returned to the dealer)? Any idea? The mileage is 60. Is it normal?
  • gerriberrigerriberri Member Posts: 44
Yes, the price included the doc fees, VTR, tax and title. and I apologize.. the OTD price was $20,700.00 . :)

I just bought a 2009 Camry XLE V6 with Leather, Sunroof, Alloy, 6CD Changer, Rear Air, Floor Mats set for $28K including taxes, title and license. Dealer tells me he is giving it too me below invoice and holdback. Is this a good deal??

    Thanks,
  • sweetoothsweetooth Member Posts: 23
    Hello Hah1,
How good was the deal? Depends on the price you paid for the car..if it's too good to be true, I would worry. Check this site, what's the least quoted as paid for 2009 LE, whether your price is in same ballpark or much much lower.
  • kingciekingcie Member Posts: 8
I live in RI and a large dealer in the area has a current ad in the paper offering 150% of kbb trade value (toyota vehicles). Does this make sense to anyone? I have on '06 Camry LE (only option is side air bags) and the "Good" value says it's trade-in is just under $12k. I find it hard to believe that they will give me approx. $18k in trade for it... They also have a price on all 2009 LE Camry's with MSRP of $22,084, for $17,980. I wasn't planning on getting rid of my car or trading it in, but without dealing with anyone yet, it looks like I can get a new one, for essentially trading in my '06. Any thoughts on this would be helpful; is there something here I'm not getting? Thanks.
  • kiawahkiawah Member Posts: 3,666
Read the fine print. I got an ad down here a couple weeks ago, similar construct. After all of the great marketing stuff, there was a comma and said subject to current market rates. I figure if it sounds to good to be true, it is. Almost went in just to test drive a new vehicle and put them thru their negotiation paces....but got too busy and just didn't have the time to spend.

Go test drive a new one, see if they come thru with a great deal....but don't be disappointed if they don't.

Doesn't make any sense.....how would they sell your old vehicle, if new ones are just slightly more. Nobody would buy your old one at that price.

Curretly doing the online game with Germain Toy on a 4banger SE w/sunroof,2009 model..It is all in jest until one goes to the dealer for the appraisal of the trade-in..then the game begins..Online they whack above 7% off MSRP to whet your whistle, no big deal, but opens the game.

Fla dealers have extra charge at the end of the game called"dealers fee" and Germain's is $599.00.It's a sluch fund. My Detroit approach is OTD price and the dealer can allocate whatever proceeds to whatever fund fits their fancy..

A 4Banger SE is no big deal for it is an LE with suspension upgrade, 17" wheels, and a few interior/exterior gismos..Driveline is the same whimpy 158hp whizzy engine thru the same gearbox as the LE..The suspension is truly 100% better than the floaty LE,or XLE setup..

Why buy it??? Preceived value, economy, and trouble free 100k lifespan. I have a 2002 XLE in the garage w/72k miles which I pay for gas and maintenance..It has a 100k warranty policy, however in the last 18 mos it has only been driven about 5k mis and has only required oil changes. My main wheels is a 2006 Pontiac GPGT, loaded up with all factory goodies including the SC V-6 pumping out 260hps. Loves gas, rides like farm wagon, but I only paid a paltry 16k in May 2007 when it had 4k miles showing..Fla driving comparsion of the gas mileage of the two cars is roughly 3mpgs infavor of the Camry.

My normal cruise speed is 75/80 with runs to triple digits, no jackrabbit starts though.. At highway speeds the Camry w/ac running is stressed out..

My real pick is a Mustang GT Bullitt followed by a Trailblazer SS which they are giving away...Maybe if I wait they will be giving the Asian cars away..and the TOYO dealers will wheel and deal..
