The invoice is about $18,371. Your deal is really good.
How much before the TTL? 18k?
  • clp01clp01 Member Posts: 7
Edmunds and KBB differ from what local dealers are telling me! The diference is around $400- higher of course. What is the real invoice and what source do you have (whether it is higher or lower)?
  • njeraldnjerald Member Posts: 689
    Simple, again, again and again:

The dealers are charged a regional advertising fee by the manufacturers and it appears on the dealer invoice making it $300-500 higher depending on the manufacturer and sales region.

    Get it.

This was my first time buying a new car, and I was shocked at how dishonest the salespeople were. Millenium Toyota in Hempstead Long Island used the classic bait and switch after I spoke with the salesperson 3 times to confirm price and that they had the car in stock. Little Ferry Toyota made an arithmatic error of $100 and when I caught them on it wouldn't correct it for 20 minutes. Anyway, I ended up buying a 2006 Toyota Camry CE with a sunroof and etched windows for $19,380. That is the out the door price. I learned that that is the only price that matters because even if you ask for the price inclusive of all fees they'll still add additional fees(NYC tax is 8.625%). The dealer charged me tax on the $1500 rebate. Is this standard practice? I would think there has to be a law about this so there shoudn't be any deviation.
  • bachismobachismo Member Posts: 3
I just wanted to edit my above post. The dealership I mentioned in the above post was Toyota Universe in Little Falls NJ, not Little Ferry. I just called a dealer in Manhattan who informed me that sales tax is 8.375 not 8.625 and that I should not have been charged tax on the rebate. Can anybody confirm this? If this is true these people are more than just dishonest; they're breaking the law.

I am in the process of finalising one such deal and have seen that the tax is charged on the base price calculated after the rebates and discount. So you will get it back, if he has calculated tax otherwise.

Anybody knows what's the APR you get on Toyota finance loan that you have to take in order to get 400$ collge grad discount on 2006 Camry.

I have excellent credit rating and still getting 7.2%. according to dealer it is non-negotiable. This seems too high and if one just take the loan for minimum 3 months (that the terms of loan force you to take) even then the installments for 3 months would total to approx 300$. Much of this will be interest.

I plan to pay off the loan in 3 months and am taking this loan for just 400$ disocunt. By this math, the discount is reduced by 300$.

Anybody got a better APR on college grad? Did you negotiate on that? Please help by posting early.
    Thanks

The dealer asked me to go to DMV pay TTL and TAX by myself because I am a out-of-state customer. so far I've only paid $18000 cash for base price + $19 some kind of fee to dealer. That's all. I haven't pay TTL and TAX yet. My dealer guarantee this is the "lowest" price.

Was quoted from an Atlanta area dealership $2,000 off from MSRP. The dealer MSRP is 28,354 which includes floor mats. And a invoice price of 25,871.
Would this be a reasonable price to pay 26,354 which is $483.00 over invoice, or should I hold out from another dealer for Invoice pricing??? I usually would pay invoice minus any rebates on any new car, but this is a new model with no rebates at this time. Would like to buy by Friday the 30th.
    Thanks,
  • wskga1wskga1 Member Posts: 5
Did you get that invoice pricing from the dealership???
  • njeraldnjerald Member Posts: 689
    The SE distribution strikes again.

    $300-400 over would be good.
  • wskga1wskga1 Member Posts: 5
Which Atlanta area dealership would you expect to sale this car at 300-400.00 over invoice plus doc fees, and TTL. By the way doc fees, I call them (Dealer Retirement fund Fee) A rip off. 395-599.00 what a joke. the lowest I have found in the Atlanta market was 249.00. Still a rip off.

My Super White 07 Camry LE V6 with floor mat (CF), bumper applique (EF), remote starter (V4) will be delivered on 4/10 since they didn't have the color of my choice in stock.

    MSRP = 24,463
    KBB.com invoice = 21,602
    Dealer invoice = 21,912

I got it for 21,912 + Tax and TTL. Guess it's an OK deal.

Suva, where did you get it from? I am looking to buy a 2007 Camry LE. I too am from North NJ. Could you please send me the dealership name. Thanks!

Signed papers for 2007 Camry CE for an OTD price of 20100
They did not have it in stock so will get in about a week
  • reechzreechz Member Posts: 50
Millenium Toyota in Hempstead Long Island are a bunch of liars. I got the bait and switch today as well. Told me they had "any" color 2006 camry LE at 9:00 am this morning. I made them swear up and down and guarantee the price. When I got there at 9:15 this morning, amazingly, there was a "problem" with their computer and they had NO 2006 Camry's. They have a horrible reputation and deserve to be shut down.

You're not serious...are you? What a bunch of...well you get the drift. Unbelievable, and car salesmen wonder why the public has such a low opinion of them. Sometimes their integrity...or lack of truly amazes me. And to ask them...read the Mazda3 and Honda Civic Forums...they insist that only the consumers lie.
That's the one thing I love about buying a car, when one of these folks blatently lies to me, I just walk and spend my $ elsewhere because they need me more than I need them...there's plenty of local dealerships here in South Florida.
Maybe you shoulf consider the 2007 Camry...but from a different dealer!

    The Sandman :)

    Austin,TX,
    I got offer $18,999 for 2007. or 17,499 for 2006.
    Before TTL

Which one should I buy? is this a good price?
  • oakwiltoakwilt Member Posts: 12
Which Austin dealer is offering these prices? The invoice price for the 2007 Camry LE 4cyl auto from what I read is
$18,348. There is also a destination charge of $580.
Maybe the other posters can tell us whether the prices close to invoice mentioned in other messages includes this destination fee or not?

    price $19799 doc fee $45 smog fee $50 tax $1591.52 license$189 gov
    fee $17

I am also in N.Califpornia. Where did you get the price of $19,799? I got a quote of $19,991. I still am seeking a price like #2555, or in the upper $18ks.

Not sure of the $50 smog fee and $17 government fee. That is news to me. Tax, license, $45 doc, and $8.75 tire fee (unless they raised it?)

    Suva,

We all are trying to share info and help each other via these forums. Last we heard from you that some dealer offered a superb deal on 2006 cammry LE. Since then a number of folks have asked you regarding that on this forum. We all know that Toyota is ending the disocunts on 2006 camry in a couple of days.

It is only fair for you to update your post with the outcome of that offer, if it worked for you. This will help buyers of CAmry 2006 LE deal better with auto dealers before toyota offer expires.

    Thanks,

Elgin Toyota of Chicago offered $17695 for brand new 06 LE Camry.
I had to pay tax(6% for Indiana resident), $57.33 doc fee, and that damn $15 cook county sales tax.

I am picking it up tomorrow.

    any comments?
  • bachismobachismo Member Posts: 3
I've contacted a few dealers and have gotten different responses about whether or not the tax is charged on the rebate. My dealer insistst that it is, but I do not trust a word that comes out of his mouth. Does somebody have a definitive answer as to whether tax should apply to the $1500 toyota rebate. I don't know if it depends on the region, but I live in New York City.
  • davidongdavidong Member Posts: 3
I am puzzzled by how different dealers handle the tax on the manuf rebate. (btw, does anyone knows Toyota gives $1500 rebate on Camry in chicago or Indianapolis? I am getting only $1000!!)

Here' show my tax is calculated:=
$18595 selling price of 06 Camry LE brand new
    $57.33 Doc fee
$18652.33 total of price plus doc fee

    $1119.14 6% tax on the $18652.33
$10 drive away cert for out of state purchse
$15 cook county tax(? i am confused on this one!!)
    -$1000 Camry rebate

    $18796.47 my OTD price

Let me know what you guy think!!
This is straight from Elgin Toyota Chicago.

    Davidong:
Your numbers look o.k. I've gotten the same response with tax on the rebate- I believe they are correct. The rebate is separate from the dealers taxable sale. All rebates in IL are handled that way. The MFG is responsible for paying the rebate. Was this for an auto LE, any options like CF? The taxes are o.k. too. Never heard (never used) of $10 drive away cert but looks legit. At least your tax is calculated where you live so you save a little there compared to most. The rebates also vary by region. $1000 unfortunately is correct. Dealers would be stupid these days to try and pull something with rebates, at least with most buyers.

In Georgia and have the following offer:

    2007 LE Camry V6 with:
Vehicle Stability Control w/ Traction Control (VSC)
16" Alloy Wheels ($410 list not the higher ones)

Looking at $22,309 + $279 doc fees and TTL Sticker was $24,758 including dealer prep with no doc fees or TTL

I'm in SET territory and they hit you up for $634 in blood money. My OTD is $24,197.16. Between SET and 7% sales tax I feel like I've been you know what without even being kissed!!

What's the verdict, should I pull the trigger?

    Thanx,

    Ty

    17695 is all inclusive?
  • curious_buyercurious_buyer Member Posts: 11
In Boston area, I have seen dealers doing this -
They negotiate the price around the invoice price. If there is rebate they subtratc that from invoice and the price finalised is used for tax calculation. So, the rebates are set off before calculation of tax.

I dont think this should be regional but am not sure.
  • davidongdavidong Member Posts: 3
Thanks for clearing my doubts. I am new to this game.
I live in Fort Wayne. And I must warn against going to FW Toyota to buy. they are real low high pressured dealers. they claimed they can match any price in chicago and when I show them, they would not.!!!

BTW, what is CF option? I check the official toyota.com and could not find this option.

mine is just plain jane LE auto, 4 mats included.

    Curios,

I went to the dealership yesterday.
They have given me a price of 17500 online as OTD.
    2006 Camry LE I4

At the dealership the manager started playing the
    same old game:
It seems they forgot to add DMV and Doc fee into the price.
He was asking 242 for DMV and 200 for Doc fee.
That takes the OTD to 17950 approximately.

    I negotiated saying I Would pay 17750
But the dealer wanted me to pay the 17950.

I did not feel like doing business with them as they were
not at all negotiationg on the price.

That's it. I told the dealer Good Bye... and I was
    out of there.
    The dealership is Route22Toyota, NJ.

    Hope this helps.....

CF option - Floor Mats and trunk mat in my area.

Get it in writing, line by line and signed before you go into the dealer. Email or Fax.

    Avoid the aggravation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's a great price. I appreciate if you could share dealer's contact info.

    I have a test drive for 2006 and 2007, I like 2007 model.

I am in Dallas/TX and just got a quote from Toyota of Dallas for 2007 Camry CE with The Extra Mile Option Package A (Carpet Mat Set, keyless entry...) and tint window. Price they gave me is 19,999 and dealer told me that is $500 over invoice. :confuse:

In NY- the rebate (ends march 31) is $1500 and the taxable amount is AFTER the rebate is deducted (you do not get taxed for the $1500).
Had a helluva time finding a base (no sunroof, etc)2006 Camry LE this week in a decent color (most dealers are completely out and only offering the 2007).
The range quoted(after you include the rebate) was anywhere from 17,500-$18,500. Of course, once I went into several dealerships they started to play games and either didn't have anymore cars or tacked on more $$$$.

In my experience, they ALL add in the CF option (floor mats and cargo net)...so taking into account the dwindling supply of 06's- some dealers were completely out, I jumped on the mid $17,000 number with the mats and net. Unfortunately in NY, we get royally screwed with taxes both large (8.625 to pay for those new stadiums!!!) and small (tire disposal tax- $12 And I had them do the dmv stuff, life's too short to deal with the DMV.
  • tinatinatinatina Member Posts: 388
Yes, it was Sunnyvale. Watch out for some of those fees at the other dealership. It should be just the price of the vehicle, $8.75 tire fee, $45 doc fee, tax, and license/registration.

Let me know if you get any better prices. I will check later with some North Bay dealers.

I purchased a 2007 Toyota Camry LE with leather, floor mats and pin stripe in NE Florida for $21,581 (Included the dreaded SE Toyota fee add on of $564 + $55 additional destination to this region)+ tax,tag & title. This price was about $600 over dealer invoice and no dealer administration fee (They usually charged $599.00). I did this deal just by walking in the dealership and did not get a chance to solicit via the internet as I was pleased with the deal and they had the exact car I was looking for. It also helped that it was the end of the month. This new Camry looks even better in person. The 2007 Camry looks sportier and more luxurious than my 2002. Just my opinion though.
  • clp01clp01 Member Posts: 7
You could probably do a little better if you contact them. I do not know what you formally agreed with but I know they can go down another $100 at least. CF was posted by someone else- floor and trunk mats. Internet quotes I've found are near bottom but I got another $100 below mine and judging by your quote you can do $100 less with CF and maybe slightly less without CF (but some mats as an option?). I did not even get a response from Elgin but I was asking for a certain color (Phontom Gray) with curtain airbags too and I am sure they did not have it.
My dealer told me many people are driving to the Chicago area to buy right now (from the region anyway). It seems like Toyota is giving some of those on the East coast really good deals- sucks for us but not bad in the long run. Good luck.
  • ltjggillespieltjggillespie Member Posts: 7
Well, just purchased my new camry last night. Dealer claimed to give us $500 over invoice but I don't think their invoice was correct. Paid $26,950 OTD (this includes everything, includng tax since I am military).I'm sure it's not the best deal but I feel pretty good about it.

What a car. I recently drove a 2006 G35 coupe, 2006 Hyundai Azera, 2003 Maxima GLE, and 2004 Acura TL. I know what you are saying, this is certainly no G35, that's right, but for an everyday car I don't think you can beat it; and it was $9,000 less than the G35, $2,000 less than the Azera, and $1,000 less than the TL (w/40,000 miles).

I am not joking here, but after listening to the other Factory stereos I think this one is the best. The TL does sound nice with a 5.1 DVD but otherwise it lacks fullness. The JBL system is topnotch in my humble opinion (440 WATTS!!, need I say more).

I am very pleased with the Camry, I wouldn't have bought it otherwise. Of all the cars I looked at it had the most WOW effect at first glance; the body has a hint of Lexus IS 250 and the interior could easily be mistaken for a ES 330.

Great forum, wish I had read before last night and perhaps could have gotten a few more dollars off.

    Sorry for the long post.
  • fsowirlesfsowirles Member Posts: 195
What options/packages did you get? A base XLE V6 has an MSRP of over $28k and with Option Package A (Mid-Atlantic) gets to $29,640. Sounds like you got it for below invoice. Please share the dealer name/location.

Does anyone have experience with a dealer in northern California that specializes in selling to individuals that want to order a Camry custom made from the factory?

Although it means a wait of a couple months, I prefer going that way since the exact features of interest may be ordered, and at an excellent price.
  • camry_chicamry_chi Member Posts: 14
I got this quote from a Chicago dealer for a 2007 Camry LE Auto 4 Cyl Engine, with no options thrown in. I live in Chicago Cooke County and the dealer also is in Cooke County.

    Price: 20,119
    Tax (@9%): 1,818
    Documentation Fee: 57
    Cooke county tax: 15
    Some other charge: 25
    New plates: 143

    Total (OTD): 22,177/-

I am a first time car buyer, so I don't even understand what most of these charges are. My questions to people are:

    1) Isn't 9% tax rate real? Can dealers lie about tax rates too? (I don't really trust them)

    2) I've read on other posts about something called TTL. What's TTL? Does it look like my quote includes that already?

    3) Is this a good quote overall?

    4) What charges can I expect them to put on top of these when I actually go there to buy my car? Yes, they say it is OTD price, but does anything look missing?

    5) I spoke a couple of other dealers, they talk about some DMV charges. Are those the same as documentation charges?

I bought an 04 two years ago, and at that time there was a lot of commentary on all the Toyota forums about a Toyota dealership I think in the mid west, that was selling Toyota's best warranty, the one with -0- deductible, for about $800-850, about half what most dealerships were asking. I misplaced the name and contact information, and naturally, now I am ready to buy the warranty. Can anyone help. Does anyone have that dealer's name.

    Thanks,

    Jim
