I just bought an '07 Camry LE, carpeted floor/trunk mats from Ira Toyota in Milford, MA, at a fair price. The salesman and sales manager were OUTSTANDING to work with! It was an excellent experience overall, and I would highly recommend this dealership to anyone.

My only concern about this car is the road noise.....it appears to be much noisier than other Camry's and Avalon's owned by family & friends.

Keep shopping. The best position to be in is have a price for the model package and options you want already calculated and do not be in a hurry as you offer this price to various dealerships waiting for approval for your price...not them waiting for your approval on their high price. Take your time. It took me a few months to buy my car and I had many dealerships say no but I was patient and got my cost + 5% deal...a fair deal for all.

I just noticed an add in the Miami Herald by Maroone Toyota of Weston (that's in south Florida).
The add says: "brand new 2007 Toyota Camry automatic transmission $16,888"
I suppose it refers to a Camry CE. Sounds like a good price to me. Any comments?

I am in S. California and I got a quote of $18,500+TTL for a manual CE "J" Camry. I wanted $19,000 out-the-door but the dealer wouldn't do it. I am kind of pissed 'cause the dealer won't budge.
• sixleafsixleaf Member Posts: 10
I think that's a sweet deal, even if it was for a CE.
• martinfmartinf Member Posts: 121
Where did you get the great deal on the extended warranty for your Toyota. A San Diego dealership wanted $1430 for the 7yr/75,000 warranty. Thanks!
• dc_in_txdc_in_tx Member Posts: 5
Hey there, if it was in Austin, it was Charles Maund. I got an internet quote for $18,999 for a 07 Camry LE with carpet mats. Nothing else and this is without going to the dealership to haggle.
• philliplcphilliplc Member Posts: 136
that's gotta be a misprint (might actually be for an '06) or else there is some other catch involved - bait and switch or whatever. $1400 below invoice on a hot seller probably isn't realistic at this point.

I got this internet quote for 2007 Camry LE in Chicago.

Price: $19,250
Out of door price: $21,203

It is a 4 cylinder, auto transmission, and no options (except floor mats).

I've been told that this is $250 below invoice. I am posting this for reference to anybody who's thinking of buying a Camry in Chicago. Also, if anybody got a better deal than this, please do tell me.
• tinatinatinatina Member Posts: 388
Thanks, I will check with them. Did you get the floor and truck mats because you mentioned an LE with no options? What was the MSRP of your vehicle? Again, I appreciate your feedback.
• jb05jb05 Member Posts: 5
Could you please share the "out the door" price (with little break up) along with the options you selceted?
I live close to milford and would really appreciate this info.
Thanks,
JB.

I called the dealership and they say this add was valid for 1 day only, sunday. Today they don't want to sell for that price. They didn't want to tell me either what kind of fees would be added to that advertised price to get an out-the-door price. Morale of the story: read the sunday paper on sunday morning, not on sunday evening, and wait patiently.
• philliplcphilliplc Member Posts: 136
that's about a couple hundred over invoice, not under. still a good deal.
• lpaeslpaes Member Posts: 17
Got floor and trunk mats - don't know what MSRP was :)
I guess I got it for about $200 odd over invoice
• shaopengsunshaopengsun Member Posts: 17
Sounds great. I will try to contact them. Thanks very much.

I got 2007 Camry LE V6 (remote starter, bumper applique, floor carpets, 50 state emissions) at Ira Danvers for $21,912 including destination charge which breaks down:

KBB invoice = $21,602
Ira invoice = $21,912 ($310 ad fee) <== what I paid for
MSRP = $24,463

Out-the-door cost will add 5% MA sale tax + $195 administration fee + $86 tag and license. Hope this help.

I live in one city and work in another. So, I have the option of buying my camry from either of the two cities.

I am not sure how does it work, if I buy a car in another city (and state) and get it back:

1) Does it impact the taxes I pay?
2) When I looked it up, on Toyota website the MSRP is higher in Detroit than Chicago. Does it mean I am likely to get a better deal in Chicago?
3) How easy is it to buy a car in one state and get licence plates in another? Would it ever be worth the trouble? Is it possible to live in one city and get licence plates in the other?

Dude: I've seen 2 invoice prices for Camry 2007, 4 cyl, auto: 18,348 and 18,339. Floor mats would be extra (unbelievably)and destination of $580 extra. Tag, title, registration, and taxes also extra. That's it!

Since there is a 2% holdback on Toyotas, I'd offer them a nice, fair 5% deal; invoice x 3% + the 2% holdback and $20 on floormat option:

invoice 18348 x 1.03 = 18899 + 135 floor mats (invoice is 114 and msrp is 189)+ 580 destination = 19614. State tax is paid on 18899 + 135 = 19034, not on destination. You can find tag, title, and registration on the Illinois state web site as fees for this are regulated by the state, not the dealership. This is THEIR cost of doing business.

As the month progresses into the second half, offer 10 dealerships this deal and 1-3 will take it. It's YOUR money. Good luck.
• njeraldnjerald Member Posts: 689
$19,250 is about $200 over mfr. invoice and about $150-200 under dealers invoice with regional advertising added in.

Good Price as long as they don't add anything else except Tax and License.

Hi, Maygirlmass, I live in MA and want to buy the same car. Could you tell me the price for the car, I wili appreciate it.
• dabeasdabeas Member Posts: 8
I'd love to buy a 2007 Camry with the 4 cyl 2.4L SE manual transmission. But after driving cars with heated seats for the last 20+ years in New England I'm really disappointed that Toyota only sells this Camry with an automatic transmission. Why is that? I'd be more than willing to pay for it!
• calhoun213calhoun213 Member Posts: 10
Started out to get the SE but ended up with a LE 4 cyl, moonroof, JBL stereo, mats. MSRP is 23,219, I paid $20,700 plus the $199 dealer fee. Tax not included in these prices.
• jay_gatsbyjay_gatsby Member Posts: 45
I've been reading the discussion here and on the other Camry threads, and was curious about when would it be the best time to buy the new 2007 Camry? The consensus seems to be to wait another month or so to allow Camry inventory to begin building up at the various local dealers (Washington, D.C. area), rather than rush out in the next 2 weeks to buy.

P.S. Many thanks to all who have posted their buying experiences and prices. I've received a great deal of insight into the negotiation process. When I finally decide to buy, I'll have a pretty good idea of what to pay (and what to pay for) the dealer.

Has anyone approached a dealer with regards to the incoming hybrid and negotiated a price?
• maygirlmassmaygirlmass Member Posts: 8
I got floor mats/trunk mat. OTD price (excluding sales tax) was $19,600. I see that others in other areas have done better than that, but in Massachusetts no one seemed too anxious to deal as the inventory isn't great. I feel that it was a very fair deal, and as I said, the buying experience was excellent. That in itself is worth giving the dealer an extra hundred bucks or so!
• bigd58bigd58 Member Posts: 39
I'd think the longer you can hold off the better. Cruised by my dealer again last night, & I've still yet to see anything but CE & LE 4cyl. Finding an SE for example, with just the options you want, may be difficult unless you order one directly.
• fsowirlesfsowirles Member Posts: 195
Mine (took delivery yesterday :P ) was already on the incoming allotment and I added port installed options. Ordered on 3/16 adn picked her up yesterday 4/11. Not too bad, 3.5 weeks.

• maygirlmassmaygirlmass Member Posts: 8
It was $19,600 excluding sales tax. The only extra option I got was the carpeted floor/trunk mats.
• tkubatztkubatz Member Posts: 7
What options did you have added at the port & do you have Nav. ? If so can you post a picture of interior?
Thanks
• jay_gatsbyjay_gatsby Member Posts: 45
That's what I thought. I'm not in a particular hurry to buy a new Camry. My thought is to wait until June or so, by which time there will be more personal buying experiences available for consultation, more inventory on dealer lots, and perhaps a bit more flexibility in negotiations.

Follow-up question:

I'm not crazy about the SE grill (others don't seem to be either -- I think it cheapens the look of the car), so what do you think about simply going with the LE (whose grill is a bit more understated)? On the other hand, the SE is built for more spirited driving, and therefore the driving "experience" may more than make up for the unattractive grill.
• bigd58bigd58 Member Posts: 39
It's like you said, it boils down to what driving characteristics one is looking for, or, willing to settle for. Most urban dwellers, like myself, will not really benefit from what the SE has to offer on a frequent basis in the normal course of everyday driving. So it comes down to this: Are you willing to sacrifice the softer ride the majority of the time to be able to really utilize the sports suspension the minority of the time? For many it sounds stupid, (and I've really gone back & forth with it in my own head) but the final answer for me is "yes".

As to the grill, I can't really say because I've yet to see one in person. But styling really isn't a make or break deal for me unless we're talking something really awful, like, say, the old AMC Matador.
While I'm not crazy about the 07 front end, the rest of the car out-shines it by a huge margin. I figure when I'm tooling down the road with the JBL & 268 horses I'm really not going to care what the front end looks like, unless of course I run into something!

Ooops. I think I'm in the wrong thread. This is supposed to be about prices, right? Apologies.
• fsowirlesfsowirles Member Posts: 195
Port installed was XM and Remote Start. It already had Nav.

Can anyone in the SAn Francisco Bay Area tell me how much they got their Automatic CAmry LE for?
I'm ready to buy this week and would like an idea. Thanks

I just bought a 2007 Camry LE 4cyl., floormats only, for $18,996,sticker price $21,279 at Mossy Toyota in San Diego.
It was an advertised special this past weekend, but they had 10 available at that price with a good selection of reasonable colors. Does anyone know of anyone cheaper than Toyota of Greenfield, MA for discounted Toyota extended warranties? Their prices are very good, but someone had mentioned K.C. Summers Toyota (Matoon, IL) selling the 7yr/75,000mi warranty for $500. I emailed them, but they said their price is now $710 which is more than Greenfield.

I bought my XLE V6 at Gene Reed, horrible experience (see my post -a LTjg's tale). I don't know that West Ashley is much better in their business practices but it might be worth a try. I was able to finally get a good deal but took a lot of pain and suffering to do so. Take your time and let them come to you on the deal. Also, don't beleive them on what they quote as their invoice; even if they show you some bogus website (their numbers will never match Edmunds or any other invoice estimations). Take what you learn in this forum and use it to your advantage. Never forget that YOU have the upper-hand!! :shades:
• efpat1efpat1 Member Posts: 9
I've just started searching for the best price on an XLE. The first quote was about $1000 over invoice. I have not seen many posts from the NJ-NY-PA area. Anyone recommend a dealer in this area that will sell at invoice plus 3%? Also, when I asked three dealers about ordering a car, the first response was - lets see what is in stock or lets see how they build them. Not very responsive to the customer. I thought ordering a car meant getting it built the way I want (XLE with leather, stability control).
• njeraldnjerald Member Posts: 689
~$600 over dealer invoice at FitzMall.
• jay_gatsbyjay_gatsby Member Posts: 45
Good point regarding the tradeoffs. I guess it will simply come down to driving both and seeing which one I like better. On the issue of pricing, any thoughts on what constitutes (and how you verify) the so-called "invoice" price? I know Edmunds provides what it believes is the invoice price, but where does it get such information? How do you know if the dealer is showing you the true invoice price?

Another question. Anyone think it's a bit pricey to pay $750-$1,000 for the 440 watt JBL stereo? I'd like to think that you could get a top of the line Alpine stereo, 6-disc changer, and an amplifier for less money. What about the base stereo unit? The reviews I've read seem to indicate that it's pretty sufficient for most people. So why spend the extra money?
• shergillshergill Member Posts: 8
Hi guys. i am looking at the 2007 Camry SE. I got a quote of $22,986.00 from a dealer in northern california. This includes the JBL,MoonRoof,Spoiler and mats.

What do you guys think?
• bigd58bigd58 Member Posts: 39
Of course it's a bit pricey, but if you want a high-end stereo there aren't too many other options. They way cars have been designed in the last couple decades, it's not always practical to try and have an after-market stereo installed.
Yes, a grand is too much, but I intend to get it anyway. Don't forget it does have the bluetooth capability which sweetens the deal somewhat.
As too the base stereo being sufficient, it all depends on how discriminating one is and whether one has the budget for the upgrade.
• shaopengsunshaopengsun Member Posts: 17
Hey, have you got your car? I quoted the same price at the dealer you mentioned. But when I try to move forward, I was told the car is sold. Then I try to choose another one with only different color, and it is sold again

Have you really try to get yours? Thanks for sharing your experience there.
• calipso27calipso27 Member Posts: 15
As a reference... I just bought the 07 SE with JBL, moonroof, spoiler, mats and stability control for $22,400. Supposedly this is $300 above "invoice". Bought in Michigan.

Good luck!

I was checking out Camry LE’s last week and asked a dealer for a copy of his invoice. This LE-V6 had leather, floor mats and aluminum wheel upgrade. If you haven’t seen one, here is what the invoice contained for this car.

MSRP $ 25,872.00

Base Price (dealer cost) 19,814.00
Port Installed Options 1,772.66
Delivery/Processing/Handling 635.00
Advertising Fee 1.63% of MSRP 376.00
Marketing Fee 1.16% of MSRP 267.00
Holdback 2% of MSRP 60.00
Financial Reserve 1% of MSRP 230.00
Port Installed Options Holdback 9.7%
of PIO Options 172.00
Total Dealer Cost $ 23,726.66

As posted by another member recently, a good price for this car would be:

(Invoice + holdback + financial reserve) X 1.05 + Delivery + TTL (tax/title/license)
or
22,276.66 X 1.05 + 635 + TTL which would be about $300 over dealer cost in my region; dealer cost defined as base cost + options + delivery + holdback and financial reserve.

These are prices in the Gulf Coast Region and may vary in other areas.

Anyone else have any similar information?
