I was crawling all over that car looking for the release lever or button, and couldn't find it. I did find the on/off button in the glove box.

Looking for a Black 6MT G-Coupe here in the Dallas-FW area - dang those MT's are hard to find in the right color/package. But on the other side of the coin, there's a Mazda dealer down the road selling RX8's (they have about 40 on the lot) at great prices.... no can-do. I'll wait. The RX8 looks good, but the G35SC has more hp, tons more torque (which is what really matters), and is just an overall better car. The thing I like about the RX8 is the rear doors to get to the back seat - see, I have a child seat - so there you have it. Waiting...... (...sigh...)

If you havn't done so, you can go to Infiniti.com, then build & locate. Select the distance of 150 miles to get the inventory of the dealers up to that far away from your zip code. If you don't find it cheat by entering a different zip code. Then check that area. You can keep doing this until you find your car!
By the way, I have a G35 Coupe MT6. It's a great car. When you tilt the seatback on the passenger side that seat goes full forward giving you plenty of room to access the back seat.

Have you tried Crest Infiniti? Very good service there!

Does anyone know where the G35 Coupe service manual can be purchased at a discount? (aside from having to buy it direct from Infiniti USA). Thanks in advance for the feedback.

I believe you can get a one-day pass for $19.99 here:

and download all the user and service manuals you want. If course, a high speed conenction would help! :)

I bought the original 2003 manual on CD - I would make a copy for $15

Inside the headlamp assembly toward the fenders is a white vertical strip. After 2 months of ownership I still have not discovered the purpose of the white vertical refector with the small white light at the top next to the headlamps. Has anyone discovered a purpose for that light?
The 6MT coupe is great although I had to put Michelin Pilot Sport all seasons on the rear. I could not find an all season for the front. I went on Michelin web site and e-mailed them asking them to build the R225R45-18 in the all season version. You might want to do the same. Maybe enough people emailing them might cause Michelin to have the tire ready before next winter.

According to KBB, the G35 coupe is predicted to have the second highest resale value rate, behind the Accord sedan for 2004 models.

So much for Infiniti cars not holding their value. Kind of a bummer for those of us who were hoping to snag a deal on a used one.

I'm not really sure. New G35 Coupes are still difficult to take much off MSRP, while every other Infiniti sells near invoice, except the QX56, which just came out.

After a few air/oil filter replacements and an oil change my 1 year checkup on the G35 totaled about $360! I think I'll do the next round myself. 'icantdrive' - i'd be glad to purchase a copy of the service manual for $15. Please email me directly, as your email is not listed. Thanks!

PS. LOVE the car. I plan on driving the G for another 10 years at least!

Well just another Happy new G owner here:) Just purchased a 04 Coupe 6MT Twilight Blue with the Willow Interior,Best Color Combo IMO! Actually drove almost 150mi to purchase, there are none in the area! Very hard to find six speed in Mississippi let alone this combo, so as many have mentioned, hard to make them come down from the sticker price. Anyone know if Driver side seat has the automatic slide movement to get into the back seat like the passenger side, I cant get mine to work? Also my compass is off, says I am going North when actually headed south? Other than that Truly Happy w/new G35 6MT!!!

Congrats on the new G. I got mine a week ago and can't stop smiling when I drive. I have the Sedan so I can't help with the seat issue, but the compass issue I know about. The compass comes set to one of 15 different zones in the world, mine was set to the North East and I live in Cali. The manual has the instructions to change the compass zone and a chart of where all the zones are.

    Enjoy the ride!

Congrats on the new G. The passenger seat should move forward the same as the drivers seat for access to the rear.

Guess it helps to read the owners manual. I read through it last night and found out that you need to have the parking break on in the 6MT in order for the driver seat to slide forward for back seat entrance. Anyone have a link for info concerning the production #'s on the 04 G35 Coupes? Also what is the recommended oil we should use, I have been told by sales person to use Castrol?

Sedan sales are up 33% thru March (vs. 2003) and Coupe sales up 15%.

Sorry about the double post above. Not sure how that happened.

I'm considering both the sedan and the coupe. My concerns about the coupe are: low seating position and small trunk, more about the latter than the former. Have any of you coupe owners taken a 7-10 day trip and if so, did you have enough room for luggage for two?
  • opimaxopimax Member Posts: 73
I took a 2 1/2 week cross country trip w/my brother in August. Rear seat folds down, helps when needed, packing wisely does also

After 2 years of following this car (sedan and coupe), I pulled the trigger today on a TB coupe with black interior. This interior looks darker than the last time I look at a G35. I am glad but interested to know if something has really changed in the charcoal leather they have been putting in these things from '03 to '04. Maybe I just thought it was lighter the last time I looked but I remember being disappointed. I love the way this one looks. I love the TB exterior too. I got it with Premium Package, XM SAT Radio, 4 piece aero package, body side molding and trunk mat with logo (MSRP $36,390) for $34,600. It did not come from the factory with XM radio so that is normally $600 installed at the dealer instead of the $400 from the factory.

I got this only after threatening to walk out when the salesman said he couldn't budge from MSRP. I first offered $33K at which I got a good laugh. The Sales Manager offered the $34,600 and stood firm there. I might could have gotten better if I had gone to another dealer but this car is hot and this particular color combo and options was exactly what I was looking for except for the XM radio so I did the deal.

I love the car so far. It is absolutely awesome. This is my first experience with XM but I have heard many recommend it. Are there any suggestions out there regarding XM?

Test drove a new 2004 G35 Coupe/Leather/Premium Package/NAV/Sport Wheel Package this past weekend and loved the car. Only problem is that my wife and I immediately noticed that there was NO DRIVER SEAT MEMORY OPTION on the coupe. This is a standard offering on the '04 Sport Sedan but is not available on the Coupe. Infinity has really dropped the ball on this one. For an entry luxury level coupe ($37,910)this feature should certainly be included. I hope that Infiniti watches these boards and gets the hint to include this important feature in the '05 Coupe this coming fall.
  • gambit293gambit293 Member Posts: 406
Geez, IMO sounds like you're being a little hard on the car. I don't know how you could say Infiniti dropped the ball on this "important feature." There are plenty of other factors I would pick over a car seat memory, though I guess you could argue that the car seat feature is extremely important FOR YOU. Do you constantly switch drivers on a routine basis? Personally I wouldn't even notice the presence/lack of a car seat memory.

I HAVE BEEN TO ONE DEALER AND CONTACTED 2 OVER THE INTERNET. NO ONE WANTS TO BUDGE ON THE STICKER PRICE. ANY IDEAS? I LIVE IN VEGAS.
  • lmacmillmacmil Member Posts: 1,758
Get the financing or cash for what you're willing to pay. Walk in and make an offer. If they say no, get up and leave. If you do this on the last business day of the month, they'll probably run after you (assuming the offer isn't totally ridiculous.)
  • wibblewibble Member Posts: 569
Las Vegas is not a good place to get a deal. Find out what you want and then e-mail some dealerships in California or Arizona.

P.S. Please don't post using CAPS. It's considered to be shouting.
  • bach47bach47 Member Posts: 8
No I am not being hard on the car. As a matter of fact, my wife and I both love the G35 Coupe. We do switch back and forth driving her car on the weekends and that is why we feel that the driver's seat memory is an important feature in any car she has. She always wants to take her car places on the weekend because she does not like driving my Lexus RX330. She thinks that it is too big. My main complaint is that Infiniti has this feature on the sedan so why not on the coupe! We have decided to wait until pricing is released on the '05 models at which time we are going to order the G35 Coupe. I am just hoping that Infiniti makes the driver's seat memory available on the Coupe in the '05 model year. As far as we both are concerned, the
G35 Coupe is by far the best value in a Sport Coupe available in the market today.

I took a clay bar to my new G recently and waxed it, really looks great! While I was getting intimate and waxing I noticed a few minor concerns. I have a twilight blue and there appears to be light almost clear specs in the paint. Is this normal? Also I noticed on the front driver side quarter panel there are 4-5 small spikes in the paint,a little larger than the size of a pin head. Do you think the dealer will be able to resurface and paint this or give me a new quarter panel?

    Hi All,

I'm sure this question has been asked many times before but I can use your help. I'm familiar with the 2003 features but not too sure what (if any) has changed beyond the color options.

    1) Has the NAV features changed at all from 2003 to 2004?
    2) Any interior or exterior changes?

    Thanks much!!

A new data DVD was released in September 2003. The 2004 car has a tire pressure warning light and heated seats as standard. That's about it.

How does the G35 coupe drive in the winter. I live in the northeast and it snows. I need to know how the handling changes in different situations. Can anybody help me. Please reply.

I am in the market for a used G35 coupe and I have one question to all coupe owners, how well does the common baby carseat fit in the back of the coupe? My boy just reached 1 year old and is now facing forward, so I'm assuming that he should fit back there pretty easily, but I wanted to hear from any current owners who have travelled in this car with a baby.
  • snagielsnagiel Member Posts: 750
Having just gone through a relatively mild (about a half dozen snowstorms) winter here in the DC area with my G35 6sp, I can confirm what I'd read before: This thing (with the stock tires) is a nightmare on snow and ice. The precious little traction the summer tires provide easily overwhelmed the ABS, traction and stability control systems.

For next winter, I intend to invest about $1100 in a set of 17" steel wheels and dedicated winter tires (see tirerack.com, but call them before ordering because their sizing software is wrong for this car), which I'm confident will make a huge difference.
  • snagielsnagiel Member Posts: 750
I haven't tried, but since baby seats can vary in size and shape, I'd suggest just bringing yours to the dealer and seeing for yourself exactly how it would fit.
  • jasond5jasond5 Member Posts: 2
snagiel's point about poor traction has me concerned as I contemplate getting the G35 6sp. Does anyone out there have suggestions on how to improve traction short of switching tires in winter? Do 18" v. 17" wheels make any difference?

Any tips where to make a good deal on the G35 in the DC area?
  • snagielsnagiel Member Posts: 750
As far as traction goes, I don't think there's any way around changing tires, as they're the single point of contact between your car and the road. 17" tires (narrower yet with taller sidewalls) would help marginally, but summer tires will still fare poorly in winter. You can buy all-seasons and just use them year-round, but then you're making a compromise year-round. With a separate set of wheels and tires for the winter season, you:
    1) Maximize performance during the rest of the year
    2) Maximize traction, safety (, and performance) during wintery weather.
    3) Prolong the life of your summer tires

Given the tradeoffs, I think the expense is reasonable, but if you have a backup car or can use the wife's (or the Metro), the few snow storms we get here (relative to New England, say) might not warrant winter tires. But, I would advise against driving on any form of snow, slush, or ice with the stock summer (6-speed or sport package) tires.

As for dealers, I've been doing my service visits at Jim Coleman in Bethesda, which is OK. I've heard some bad tales about Rosenthal (Vienna), but nothing but good stuff about Passport (Alexandria).

Got an 04 G35SC auto w. Premium pkg., aero, nav., and the 18" performance tire and wheel pkg. and barely survived the Boston winter. This car is not for the faint of heart on snow if you try to get by on the summer rubber, so I am looking for some advice on a set of 17 " steel wheels and, specifically, winter tire brand and size from someone who has taken the plunge on winter replacements. We had to do the auto because traffic here is horrendous, and we need the car daily.
  • mbednorzmbednorz Member Posts: 63
Only the 18" sports package has summer tires. The standard 17" tires are all-season radials. Mine are Goodyear RSA. These won't have nearly the cold-weather problems as the summer-only 18".
  • gpwatfrdgpwatfrd Member Posts: 76
I think they might have winter tires for the 18's. That would save you money on the rims but would put the polished aluminium rims through a beating.

ok...i'm very close to putting money down on a G35 coupe but haven't decided yet if the $900 extra for the 18" wheels is worth it (along with the limited slip differential). From a performance perspective, can one tell any difference with this package over the base 17" wheels????

    Thanks folks.....

You are referring to cars4u, but if you read my post again you will see that I did not by it there but at Infiniti of Yorkville.

Took the G in for the first time to local dealership(not same one I purchased from) to have a couple things checked including the paint on qtr panel. Guess what they tell me it looks like the quarter panel has been re-painted!! Can you believe that S!@#t??? Need advice as to what I should do. Few options I have thought of.
    1) Honestly would rather have new same packaged vehicle - Re-Paint!!!!
    2) Replace quarter panel with another factory piece from another coupe
    3) Give back the vehicle(Not really sure if this is an option, but I am kind of pissed right now!!!)

Picked up a black, premium auto on Monday. I labored between the the 6 speed and the auto. The highway system in st. louis right now resembles something from Iraq. Traffic and surface conditions are horrible. Glad I went with the auto and somewhat softer base suspension. The dealer filled it with regular 87 octane for me... thanks a lot. I now have 93 octane Mobil and 300 miles on the ticker. I'm hoping for better things. Finally figured out the air and stereo... still trying to find the right seat position. When I read the incredible track times for the 6 speed, I shed a silent tear, but as I sit for an hour on I-270 traffic jams, I don't miss the 3rd pedal at all. I have an old 79 trans am 4-speed in the garage should I decide to stir some cogs. I washed it today for the 1st time... what's with the brake dust on the front wheels? This is way out of line. Took about an extra half hour to clean them (rear wheels were fine). Does this happen all the time? Any realistic cures? Wheels aside, I'm happy with the purchase. Think I'll go for a drive. Is everyone using premium??? $2.30 per gallon!!!
