Here is a basic rule of thumb IMO. If you are being quoted a price of invoice or lower (before any manufacturer to dealer cash or mfg to customer rebate), you are getting a pretty fair deal.
Use Edmunds TMV guide to determine what invoice is and use that as your baseline. If a dealer will not budge on invoice for a 2008, then move on to the next dealer. In this economic climate, you, as the consumer have the upper hand. Take advantage of it. Infiniti has delayed the launch of the 2009 G37 Sedan because there is so much 2008 G35 Sedan inventory still out there. Dealers will go low, just stand your ground.
To my knowledge, there are several incentives:
1. $3,000 mfg to dealer cash (cannot be combined with 0.9% financing or lease)
2. $1,000 mfg to consumer rebate (can be combined with 0.9% financing, cannot be used in a lease)
3. $500 loyalty cash only for leases and only for previous Infiniti owners (I think)
4. 0.9% financing (cannot be combined with $3,000 mfg to dealer cash)
Who knows? Maybe it gets better next month. IMO it's pretty darn good now.

Also, anyone know the exact date the G37 sedans hit the lot? Perhaps I'll have a much better bargaining position when they are sitting side by side. I am located in Houston but willing to travel to Austin, Dallas, San Antonio, etc. Thanks!
It might be easier (lazier) to post a new message instead of reading previous posts, but it sure makes people less willing to help when they have to answer the same question over and over again because of the laziness of the poster. BTW you do not need to sift through thousands of posts, reading the current months posts are the only posts that apply and need to be read.

What dealership did you find this deal at? I'm looking for the same car and have that price point in mind, but thus far none will get me even close.
To be honest, I would really like the car, but am hesitant to get the G35 vs. the new G37 as I feel it will significantly impact resale. My reasoning is mainly due to the differences in transmission's.
In any regard, I'd REALLY appreciate knowing where you were quoted this deal?
$30,076 journey invoice
$1,422 sport pkg invoice
$765 destination
$32,263 sales price
$(4,000) less rebates
$28,263 adjusted sales price
Was made up by you? Or is an actual deal from a dealership and you'd like to offer 2K less?
I've bought cars at 5% under invoice before and the dealers cried they were losing money. At the end of the day, I'm certain they would not sell the car to me if they did not benefit financially from the transaction.
I'm guessing I'll have to wait until the end of November or December to convince a dealer to take this price. Here's crossing my fingers.
thoughts/comments appreciated.

'08 G35 Journey Sedan
-Premium Package
-Tint
-Wheel locks
-$29,995 cash or outside financing (or I can opt for $32,995 with 0.9% financing, but have yet to run the numbers).
A dealership in San Antonio offered one that's been on their lot for awhile with about 97 miles on it
'08 G35 Journey Sedan
-Premium and Sports Packages
-$30,981 and I'm pretty sure that's w/o 0.9% financing, but I have to double check since it's been sitting on their lot for awhile.
Again, I'm in no urgent need to buy a car, so do you think I should hold out a little longer or just opt for a more economical car like an Accord or Camry? I appreciate the input, if there's any additional info you need, just ask
They are lowering prices every other week.
If you've spent much time behind the wheel of the G I doubt you'll be at all happy w/ a Camry/Accord, Both are great cars but not in the same class as the G, every time I drive the G I just get a smile on my face, w/ absolutely NO regrets. It's also nice to have a car you don't see 40x a day
$1,000 cash back?
$3,000 cash to dealer or .9 financing?
I wanted to thank this forum for being very helpful with the lease of my new 2008 G35x from COMPETITION INFINITI, THE BEST DEALERSHIP.
So I wanted to share my deal info with you guys and get a response of what you all think.

ALSO I WANTED TO LET EVERYONE KNOW THAT KINGS INFINITI IN BROOKLYN, NY IS A HORRIBLE DEALERSHIP. I LEFT A DEPOSIT ON A CAR AFTER THE PURCHASE ORDER HAS BEEN SIGNED, THAT THEY SUPPOSEDLY BEAT FOR ME, AND WHEN I CAME IN TO SIGN THE LEASE AND PICK UP THE CAR THEY COMPLETELY CHANGED THE NUMBERS ON ME WITH ME PAYING $34 DOLLARS MORE A MONTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I ARGUED WITH THEM FOR 2 HOURS THEN I REACHED A POINT WHERE I TOLD THAT THEY WILL BE HEARING FROM MY LAWYERS, AND THEY WILL BE, AND I STORMED OUT. EVERYONE STAY AWAY FROM THEM, THEY ARE A BUNCH OF LIEING SCUM.
Can you tell me which dealer in Houston offered you $29,995?
Thanks in advance!
Let's hope that G35 sales don't do well this month
Thanks
It looks like you got a phenomenal deal! $1,824 under invoice?? What incentives were applied to your lease? Numbers seem to work for me!
Enjoy your new car!!
thanks for the output. There weren't any particular incentives that were used it was what i wanted i told them on the phone and they said they can do that for me. When I got there the price was the same with no extra b/s. let me know if you want the dealers name. I really recommend them, very consumer oriented.
this is more a message of venting and hope. one not intended to offend anyone.
i've been reading, learning, asking and hunting now(on this board and via phone at respective dealerships in the midwest) for well over 8 months. as someone recently posted, i'm equally not in a hurry to purchase. although, and strictly solely in my opinion, the best time to pick up a G35 will be either Nov or Dec. the stars are aligning setting the stage for a great deal. between the state of the economy coupled with the G 37's release, a shake down is in the works, now it's just time to sit and see what additional incentives Infiniti adds to move this rather large surplus of inventory nationwide.
i also believe(and this is in no way meant to disrespect those who have bought/leased within the last year) with great certainty that the price/resale value for these 35's will substantially drop in the coming year due to the release of the 37's. as such, i postulate purchasing in nov or dec will be the ripest of times. late dec could prove to be the ultimate, or one could get burned if IFS's current initiatives are successful in moving the old inventory in a hurry.
now, for my wish list and potential "best buy." i'm hoping the incentive money ($3,000) will next apply in conjunction with the .9 financing. i'm also hoping they'll take anywhere from 1k to 2k off invoice to move em out. whether this happens or not, that's what i'm shooting for in the coming month, to two months.
say i'm smoking crack? possibly.....one can only speculate, read the economic outlooks and then guesstimate the market demand. in any event, i wish you all the best of luck in your negotiations.
if you get a stellar, out-of-this-world deal, please post it.
thank you, and please stay tuned.

Seems like a great deal, but then again I don't know what cars go for in NJ. What does EDMUNDS TMV say?
TMV for my car is 32,233.
TMV is True Market Value and factors in current incentives and what a realistic "best-price" should be. It's a good point to shoot for and I've bought my last 2 cars within a couple hundred of TMV (one above & one below). Just go to www.Edmunds.com, then to "NewCars", you'll then be asked to enter your zip code, then proced to Infinity, then select model, then "price w/ options", then you'll see the MSRP column, Invoice Column, and lastly the TMV column. Sometimes new models or very hot sellers will have a TMV above invoice, but in the current economic climate that should be rare. Have fun w/ your search
Nothing is impossible in this economic climate. More power to you if you can get $4k - $5k under invoice plus 0.9% financing. Let us know how things shake out for you.

Can't really comment on the lease b/c I don't have enough info (i.e. cap cost, lic/reg fees, doc/dealer fees).
However, on the purchase I can give some feedback based on some assumptions.
With your OTD price of $34,267, that means the purchase price was around $32,400 based on 6% MI sales tax and assuming around $70 for lic/reg fees. Which brings you to $3,500 under invoice...I'm assuming you elected to NOT take the 0.9% promo finance and independently financed the vehicle for 5 yrs at around 5.3% for 60mos because it looks like you got the $3k in incentives applied to your deal.
In any event, it looks like if you were to take advantage of the 0.9% financing (i.e. forego the $3k incentives) your payment for 60mos would be a little lower at around $640/mo.
All in, the purchase deal seems pretty fair to me.

This seems like a good deal to me, because invoice on an '08 G35x prem/nav/cargo net is $36,650 and if you can get it for $32,000 you're $4,650 under invoice, which is pretty solid.
This assumes you do not take advantage of the 0.9% financing (i.e. $3k incentives applied to the deal, but even if you were to exclude the $3k in incentives, you're still sitting at $1,650, under invoice which is pretty sick to me) Let us know if you were able to pull the trigger on this one.
