Oops, I posted on the wrong board. Going back to my original post. I negotiated a bit and got the lease price down to $525 a month for 12K/39 months. The MSRP is $40,680 and they have quoted the lease based on a selling price of $38,100. I am paying start up costs, tax, tags, etc of $1272.94
Please let me know if this is a good deal.
They are also paying half of my disposition fee ($175) for lease end of my AUdi.

I don't know anything about leasing (I only buy cars). However, the MSRP of my 08 G35x that I just picked up last week was the same as you. I negotiated $37,305 for the price which is $152 above invoice. Then I got the $1000 loyalty cash incentive on top of that (which has since expired) and the 0.9% financing.

Is it possible to get a G35 near invoice and take an additional $3000 off (dealer incentive) and then lease the vehicle? Plus do they do 18K 36 months?

    Thanks

I think the $3000 of is only towards purchasing the car.
  • bmathews1bmathews1 Member Posts: 6
I went to the Pittsburgh Infiniti dealer this past weekend and looked at a G35X and the best he would give me was $1250 off MSRP. From reading here it sounds like thats a bad deal and even if I want the car badly I am not willing to get ripped off. I would rather drive to another dealer in another state then pay that much over invoice.

With the MSRP of my chosen car at: $38.470 and invoice at: $35,254 would I be out of my mind to tell them I want to buy the car for $35,500?

I should break my numbers down better:

    Base MSRP: $34,750
    Base Invoice: $31,954

    Difference: $2796

I am looking to get nearer to $2,200 - $2,500 off the MSRP without incentives rather than just $1,250 or so that they are offering me. They still make a killing off the car and they make a few hundred more off the wood grain trim and premium package prices as well.

With the 09 G37 sedan on the doorstep, you should really try for a better deal, like invoice at the most, or wait for the new model if possible and if added power and high tech tranny is worth it to you. Good luck!
  • dat2dat2 Member Posts: 251
By the way, edmunds gives you the invoice price including options, and I don't see why you shouldn't negotiate from that angle?
  • takeflighttakeflight Member Posts: 11
I got $3375 off MSRP (which was $40,680). That is $152 over invoice. THEN I got the $1000 loyalty cash (has since expired) and 0.9% financing. This was last week in the Philly area.
  • bolky21bolky21 Member Posts: 1
Just paid $34,500 +TTL for a G35 Journey with Premium Package and Nav and 0.9% for 60 months at Infiniti of Mission Viejo. Very quick and professional. Worked out the price over the internet and phone and only spent a little over an hour at the dealership. Invoice was $35,010.
  • bmathews1bmathews1 Member Posts: 6
Thanks for the advice guys, I decided to check out another dealer in maryland called Nationwide Infiniti and they are offering me just above invoice for a G35x w/premium, splash guards and trunk net.

Now I will take that to my local dealer and if they say no then its off to Maryland I go (I work in Harrisburg so its 1 hr from my work) and I will be saving over $1500.

    :):)

Sounds good. From what I've seen on this forum (and others), if you can get a G for within a few hundred +/- of invoice (and BEFORE incentives) you aren't getting ripped off. That's what most seem to be going for on average. I wouldn't accept anything worse than that.
  • lakeshor_junkylakeshor_junky Member Posts: 17
$36,070 + TTL OTD for a Lakeshore Slate w/ wheat interior w/ Premium, Nav, wood, illuminated kickplates, splash guards, and trunk net. Edmunds invoice for this car is $37423 and MSRP was $41010 but the dealer told me it was $39,160 (don't know why). .9% financing and $1000 conquest are included in the $36,070 price. Here's the kicker. They actually found this car for me, exactly what I had been looking for for 6 months (Lakeshores w/ options aren't easy to find) and brought it in from Memphis to the dealership in Jackson, MS. I'm from a suburb of New Orleans but dealing with my 2 closest dealers was fruitless. I completed this at the end of August. Picked it up on Sept 2. They gave me $1000 more than I needed to get for my trade and thru in sunroof windshield, wheelocks, a 3M clear bra, the first aid kit, nitrogen filled tires and an Infiniti hat. I only say this because all of those things were added after they quoted the final price b/c I hadn't emailed them back for a day and they knew I was still talking to a Houston dealer about another car so they were scrambling to improve their deal. So that's over $1000 under invoice and $1000 better than I expected for trade. Very pleased with the Jackson dealer and would recommend them to anyone within striking distance of Jackson. Couldn't be happier with the car. I find excuses to drive now.

Guys (and gals), listen to the experts on this forum like Dwynne and others. They know exactly what they are talking about and have a finger on the pulse of Infiniti deals. It will save you alot of money.

    Thanks Dennis.

Well finally went back to my Infiniti dealer :) in NJ today and ordered my new 2008 G35x, graphite, premium, rosewood for $429.00 month for 39 months at 15,000 miles per year. $3,150.00 down after $ 500.00 customer loyalty rebate. My current 2006 G35x I was paying $411.00 , so don't feel to bad. Dealer wanted $445.00 at first, so was able to squeez him a little.

No problem should have stated it.

The reason I payed NY taxes up front on the lease so I could transfer my Purple Heart plates over, didn't want to loose these and get new ones.

    Heres my story:

After following these posts for a few weeks, I started my seach the 3rd week of August. I e-mailed a dozen mid-west dealerships but only found two willing to seriously reply with reasonable first offers: Prebul Infinity in Chattanooga and Infinity of Cincinnati. After a few back and forth e-mails with both, here is the deal I walked out of the Cincy deakership:

G37S 6MT w/Premium package, illuminated kick plates, trunk mat, splash guards, Black Obsidian exterior, Graphite interior with a MSRP of $ 40,850

Sell Price: $ 37,354 (Edmonds "invoice" price) which includes destination charge
    Doc fee: $ 100
    License fee: $ 25.60
    No other fees or charges

    0.9% financing for 60 months.

Took delivery August 28th. The next day I heard about $ 1,000 Conquest rebate and contacted dealer and told them something needed to done so that I get my rebate. They worked it out, meaning that I paid $ 36,354 or $ 1000 below invoice for a total out-the-door price of $ 36,479 plus sales tax.
  • bmathews1bmathews1 Member Posts: 6
Well I called the Pittsburgh salesman back and told him the deal that the other dealership offered me and he just tried to make up soo much stuff:

    "you pay for the service"
"we can't run a dealership by selling cars at invoice"
"how am I supposed to make money"
"I have been in this business too long...."

So needless to say I am faxing him what the other dealer offered me tomorrow and if they will match it then I will pick up the car from them sat. Otherwise I will be setting up a deal with Nationwide Infiniti in MD. Hopefully within the next week or two there will be another rebate added on like the conquest rebate.

Lakshor junky... Was your deal on a new '08 or '09 ? Will appreciate you providing the name and phone number of the dealership in Jackson and the name of the guy you worked with, for me.. Thanks !
  • waltermmwaltermm Member Posts: 5
Will you please give the name of the dealership you worked with in Jackson? I assume your deal was for a new '08.. Correct ? Thanks, Walter
  • lakeshor_junkylakeshor_junky Member Posts: 17
all of that "I'm not making money at that price" kinda crap is total BS. After dealing with these fellas for for 6 months, I can tell you that finding a decent sales rep ain't easy. I have had to chase salesman down for info. I have called salesman mulitiple times to get simple info like the options on the $35K+ car I was trying to buy from them. Several times got completely incorrect responses to my questions. Invariably, the rep who liked to say "I can't make any money" type things was the same ones who's responses sucked. It's amazing who they task with selling products this expensive.

Why are hesitating buying from the MD dealer? Just asking. I eventually got the same offer from a local dealer for the car I wanted AFTER I told him I had agreed to buy the car in Jackson (3 hours away). I didn't feel right about it.

    Soneone please help me.

Most dealers are offering deep discounts for 08 models; as is normally the case at the end of model years. Edmunds.com shows most are paying about $1,000 below dealer invoice right now, for the G35. So, when I met with the local Infiniti dealer today, I told him I would do that and also wanted the 0.9% financing that Infiniti is offering right now. The salesman told me that the deep discount to $1,000 below invoice included a $ 3,000 cash incentive credit from Infiniti in addition the dealer's standard discount of about $1,500. That totals $4,500, which gets us to about $1,000 below invoice. Here's what bothers me. He told me I cannot have the manufacturer's $3,000 discount and the 0.9% financing incentive. It's an either or proposibion. However, on the Infiniti website, the offer the 0.9% and say nothing about the $3,000; much less the "either or" the dealer has thrown at me.

Please help me with this. Is the dealer correct? Or is he spoofing me with bs ?

    Thanks !!
  • sergeymsergeym Member Posts: 284
It is true that 0.9% cannot be combined with $3,000 cash. The rest is BS. Normal sell price at this moment should be no more than invoice + $500. Subtract $3,000 and you should be $2,500 below invoice or invoice + $500 and 0.9% financing.
  • kingpcgeekkingpcgeek Member Posts: 1,051
Been answered here many, many times. You cannot have both .9% financing and the $3000 dealer cash. You must choose one or the other. You also cannot lease and get the $3000 dealer cash.

They are correct, as another post said you should be offered within Invoice and Invoice +500 and have the option of .9% financing OR the $3000. Now if you do the math based on the prevailing auto loan rate of around 6.8% you will see that it is better for you to take the .9% rather than the $3000. Of course there are some other factors involved in that as well.

I was given offers of invoice + 380 wit those 2 options from a Maryland Dealer. The offers were in email.
  • lakeshor_junkylakeshor_junky Member Posts: 17
I posted the salesman's name earlier (against the rules apparently, sorry) for the dealer in Jackson, MS. Herrin-Gear is the dealer. Speak to their internet sales guy or email me. Tell him Chris from LA told you to call him. My deal is different since mine was essentially done in August though.

    Hello,

Trying to get some feedback from people on the boards on the deal below. I visited Infiniti of Santa Monica recently because I am interested in a G37 Coupe. I'll be turning in my 2005 325i BMW sedan.

    Here are the specifics:

    CURRENT RESIDUAL: 60% or 25,200
    CURRENT MONEY FACTOR: .00190 (4.56)

    MSRP 42,000
    Invoice 38,000
    IDEAL Price 37,000
    60% residual

    302.00 depreciation
    118.00 finance fee
    35.00 tax

    TOTAL-- 455.00 ( w/only drive off down)

My question is, since the 2009 coupes are bound to drop any day now, is it realistic to expect 2,000 off of invoice? Or does this seem like an unreasonable request? I believe that Infiniti is offering a 1,000 dealer incentive on this car as well.

Lastly, I wonder if it is better to wait on the 2009 coupe and try to work a deal on that. Does anyone know what the difference will be besides the transmission? What's the major benefit of the new 7 speed transmission over the one in the 2008?

Thanks so much. This is my first post!
  • kingpcgeekkingpcgeek Member Posts: 1,051
I do not believe there is any dealer cash available on the coupe. Even if there was, it is not available when leasing.

I don't really know how you are going to get less then invoice, be it $1000 or $2000 below. G's in general are selling in a range of invoice to invoice + $500.

The 7 speed should provide better gas mileage with highway driving, but no one knows for sure.

    cntv121:

Agree with kingpcgeek in that invoice to a few bucks over invoice is probably more realistic in terms of agreed upon price for a vehicle for lease.

Assuming $38,000 as the selling price of the car (invoice), I expect your payment to be about $485 (which is still pretty good in the grand scheme of things). I assumed a tax rate of around 8.25%.

You would have to pay for license/registration, doc fees and 1st month up front.

    *premium package
    *nav system
    $36,000+ tax + registration + doc fee
    financed at 0.9% APR

i JUST closed this deal today...

i hope this stat helps others who are looking to purchase at this time! don't let the dealers push you around, esp. since it's end of year and they need to get rid of the '08 models.

Well yesterday I went shopping for at 2008 Infinity G35x for my dad in the Long Island area, and what an experinece we had.

Drove to Infinity of Massepequa, in Massepequa, NY and they had over 100 2008 G35x available. My father test drove the car and loved it.

Now my father has purchased new cars all his life, so when it came down to price the salesrep said "your going to flip when you here the price I could sell you this car for"...

The car with prem pkg and some odds and ends MSRP for 38,080, he offers 37,750. Well my father flipped alright.

We knew there was a $3000 cash back to the dealer or the 0.9% financing, but he never mentioned it. My father was so pissed we just walked out and the sales manager came running out saying, we can do better, we can give it to you for 34,740, still almost MSRP - $3000.

What a joke this dealership was and I highly recommend to avoid. All these cars they have to sell and the price they offered was a real joke... waste of time.

And the funny thing was yeserday we were there from about 11:30am - 1:30pm on a Saturday and the dealship was dead, the sales rep had nothing to do.

    Massepequa Infinity.... shame on you!

That is why you should do all of your negotiating via the Internet. The people that walk on the lot without negotiating before hand are paying for the better deals us folks that buy via the Internet are getting.

I agree with negotiating via the internet. The 3 cars that I've bought that way (going back almost 8 years ago now for the first one) the initial offer the dealer came back with was always well below MSRP (approaching invoice) which I considered a decent starting point. I always research to see what others are paying via various forums so I have a rough idea of what to shoot for. I think the internet departments at many dealers are aware of this and so they have to be at least somewhat aggressive in their quotes and subsequent negotiations via the internet.
  • 800jjy800jjy Member Posts: 4
I was quoted for $32,500 for .9% rate for 60 months for 2008 G35x with moonroof (not including tax, registration, etc.). The MSRP is $36,565 and Invoice is $33,631 from edmunds.com.

I see that people usually go a little under the invoice price. Should the below invoice price be the same as the out the door price (including tax, registration, etc.) or should it not include the tax, registration, etc?

How do I know if I am getting a good deal? Do I need to negotiate further?.....to possibly $31,500?

    Thanks for your help!
  • kderobertiskderobertis Member Posts: 82
I still believe the best deal is done in person, since I have had no luck with internet quotes. I purchased a 2008 Pilot last year and all internet quotes were ridiculous. Nobody was serious until you come into the dealership.

I have even tried with this Infinity and seldom do dealers even reply.

I live in the northeast, Long Island/New York City area and maybe dealerships don't take the internet quotes as serious as in other parts of the country.

Call me "old school", I'm only 42, and a application developer by trade, but I have have zero sucess with internet quotes on purchasing a 2004 Honda CRV, 2005 Lexus RX330, 2008 Honda Pilot and now 2008 Infinity G35x.

Purchasing the Honda's and Lexus in person was a dream, except for yesterdays waste of time with the Infinity.
  • kderobertiskderobertis Member Posts: 82
I believe $31,500 and getting the 0.9 finance would be tough, but $31,000 without the financing should be achievable.
  • takeflighttakeflight Member Posts: 11
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you can't get a good deal either way. I'm just speaking of my experience using the internet as a tool for getting quotes from various dealers and negotiating from there. I've never had a problem getting quotes that way. It's really unfortunate in 2008 if there are dealers that don't respond to requests via the internet.
  • takeflighttakeflight Member Posts: 11
IMO, if you have the price negotiated to over $1000 below invoice (without any cash incentives and before TTF) you have got yourself a good deal on a G35.
  • peekay1peekay1 Member Posts: 75
If you're getting $1,131 under invoice with the 0.9% financing I would say jump all over that deal, unless there is some new rebate that I'm not aware of. Make sure it is not a hail damaged car or a demo or something like that.

I was able to negotiate $39 over invoice via email/phone with my dealer on 8/21. I got an additional $1,000 rebate (loyalty) after tax/title/license was applied.

You just tell them you are a AAA member and they'll take off a certain amount. Check your dealership to make sure they accept it though. Not all dealers do. I went to a dealer in NY.

I think I got a pretty good deal on a used 2007 G35x with 4000 miles. It was titled originally at the end of August 2007. It has Prem,Nav,Tech, and Wood packages. It has some sort of clear plastic coating on the head and side mirrors. I purchased it for $26,400. I was going to go new but the car was in near perfect condition. I traded my 2004 G with 96,000 miles for $10,000.

    used 2007 G35x with 4000 miles

b/c you put 96K miles in 4 years it's not going to make any diff. (trade-in price) b/t '07 and '08 after 4 years. However, I would have the car checked before I purchase this such low miles car.

    I just purchsed a new 2008 G35:

    blue slate
    graphite interior
    NAV
    PRM
    SPRT
    splash guards
    cargo net
    trunk mat
    wheel locks
and go them to add window tint.

    MSRP $40,135 -- without tint
    Selling price - $36,583 -- with tint at 0.9%

    No rebates

Was this a good deal or did I get screwed over? Please give me feedback.

OK, was about to lease a 2008 G35X with prem. and sport pkg. after my current 2006 6MT end in 2 weeks. Due to 0.9% offer, I am seriously considering buying...this is what I have so far.

    MSRP: $39130
Invoice: $35810 per Dealer and Edmonds
    Offer: $36210 ($400 above invoice)

and still get the 0.9%...I do sense there is still some room to with the dealer. What do you all think...how much realistically room do I have to bring the purchase price down? advise please...
