While it's most likely true for other cars, it can't possibly apply to Infiniti vehicles -- someone (SewellGSM, I believe) posted that only one model is eligible for CARS (FX35 or something like that).
  • kingpcgeekkingpcgeek Member Posts: 1,051
Being that the cars have to be disabled from ever running again, what auction would they be sold at? I assumed the dealers would just sell them to some scrap yard.

Good point - if we get our money from the government like planned - the vehicle is sent to the scrap yard and scrapped (no money exchanges hands). However, if a dealer did a deal and gave the customer the money for Cash for Clunkers, but one of the MANY stipulations was missed and the government does NOT reinburse the dealer - the the dealer has a Clunker that they have either $3500 or $4500 invested in, so they will be trying to sell it (off their lot or at the auction) to recoup some of their investment. Based on things I'm seeing, there was a bunch of deals done in the beginning that did not have all the proper documentation. :(

Doesn't the dealer have to certify on the paperwork that the clunker has been disabled prior to submitting the paperwork to the government? I thought I heard that somewhere.

    Tag/Title = $58.00

I love the looks of the G37, but I think it's more car than we can afford. Can someone tell me what a fair OTD price would be on a G37 Coupe with Navigation?

    Thanks!
  • thewdwguruthewdwguru Member Posts: 10
Thanks. What is the dealers name in NC?

Smody - I am in SC and would be intersted in this offer as well in NC. Can you email me any specifics? sschilf02@hotmail.com Thanks

    Sounds_good,

If you want nav, then you will have a tough time find one with just nav. Most come with premium and nav. You should consider an external nav to save money. but you are looking at $2000 below invoice with current incentive plus whatever your Tax Title costs are for your state.

    What can you afford?
  • mannix77mannix77 Member Posts: 76
    The dealer is in atlanta.

    see smody posts.

Thanks Mannix. I'm so accustomed to the Nav system on our Honda Pilot that I'd prefer a built-in. But if most G37s come with Nav *and* Premium, I think we'll be over budget.

    Thanks for your help.

Hey, was it Infiniti of Decatur that offered you that deal? It is extremely similar to mine with the exception of even being another $100 or so cheaper. I even had a trunk mat and wheel locks at no charge. I would do it all over again in a heartbeat. They have been terrific. My FX feels so slow now (wife's driving the G).

Mannix - pull the trigger, you won't regret it!
  • mannix77mannix77 Member Posts: 76
    That's what you posted online.
I was asking if they came to you with this offer at the first go or did you haggle to get this price?

Just trying to figure out how to approach them.
  • hookshot35hookshot35 Member Posts: 16
I thought you were asking Smody. Here's what I did. Once I started getting quotes for $5,500 to $5,700 off sticker, I told the interenet sales manager it wasn't worth bidding unlesss they coul get close to $6,000 off sticker. Decatur sent me an email within ten minutes with an offer of $6,500 off. I was shocked so I verified evreything and told them their dealer fee was $100 higher than other dealers. He immediately offered to match that and offered $6,600 off. I spoke to at least 5 more Infiniti dealers and no one could get get past the $6,000 of much less $6,600. Most of the dealers told me it was so low I was being scammed...I reverified the stock number, VIN, build date and mileage and made a deposit. At that price I wasn't expecting much when I drove down for delivery, but it ended up exceeding all expectations. I probably will not buy another car at my local Infiniti dealer.

With Special Financing, getting quotes about $200 below invoice on west coast. Should i lowball more?
  • mannix77mannix77 Member Posts: 76
No comment on low balling but you should check with other dealers to see if they can improve on price.

Not sure what term you are thinking of. But if you are doing 48 or higher months, I think you could get good rates at a credit union and pocket the 2500. Edmunds has financing calculator and tell you if you are better off with the low apr or not.
  • chikki123chikki123 Member Posts: 4
I am looking for similar car with prem & nav options and your offer looks impressive to me. Could you please reply with details as I am in the process of getting quotes.. Thank you in advance..
  • imjessieimjessie Member Posts: 4
Perhaps lowball is the wrong word. Curious, to what other west coast people are getting w/ this configuration or some dealer input?

Good call on another rate, i think IFS is offering around 5.49 with Tier0 credit, i can probably get a better rate some where else and pocket that.
  • mannix77mannix77 Member Posts: 76
Actually they are offerring 2.9 on 48mo or 3.9 on 60mo. I found a credit union offering 1 percentage point higher and in all ways it's better to take the 2500 for me.

It looks like the financing arm really don't want to lend money. Lease deals are not good either and that just tells me the financing arm just is being tight.

Just took delivery of my Blue Slate with Graphite G37 Sedan in Austin, Tx. Sport, Prem and Nav packages. Price = Invoice+300-2500. Great handling and absolutely perfect color combination. Thanks to all of you guys-Sewellgsm, hebguy et al, even though it was VPP I got a lot of insight into the purchase process of the G37.

    That's a great rate. I assume 60 months.
  • mannix77mannix77 Member Posts: 76
Do you realize how much time and headache you saved.
I have to work to get to your price with many phone calls. And deal with the occasional bad dealer.
  • smodysmody Member Posts: 3
    Hey hookshot,
Yes I just picked up my G37 today at Infiniti of decatur. I owe you some thanks b/c when I called I told the internet manager about your deal and he actually looked up the posting while I was on the phone. He then told me he could even do better than that if I was ready to buy. I wasn't even going to haggle with the great price you got. And not only did I get that great price, the service was equally amazing.

Just pulled the trigger yesterday and bought the car from South Atlanta infiniti dealer. It was wonderful and royal experience and salesman was very nice & jovial and got the good deal. After getting quotes from different dealers using fax attack, I asked this dealer to beat this best price and they did it. I got 3.9 on 60 month from https://www.penfed.org/ , you can pay $20 for one year membership when not qualifying for it. Indeed a great option if you opted for cash back.
  • m6userm6user Member Posts: 3,181
Great deal. That is well over $3500 under invoice! They must have lowballed your trade or really got you on the financing. Are you sure it's not a demo or hail damage or something? I understand that a dealer just won't sell that low as they are in the business of making money and if they sell that low they won't be able to pay their salespeople. At least that is what I hear.
  • hookshot35hookshot35 Member Posts: 16
Congrats great deal!!! I actually gave them a chance to bid, but it took them 48 hours to give me the quote and by then Infinit of Decatur made me an offer I couldn't refuse. I hope your experience is as good as mine. I know without a doubt you will enjoy thi stud of a car!
  • mannix77mannix77 Member Posts: 76
Actually it's 1200 below invoice with 2500 incentive. Dealer could be on threshold for bonus and maybe that's why. Off course we don't know everything about the deal, but it's still a pretty good deal. Also, I know the dealer charges 698 fee so if it's included or not it's fair deal.

The finance guy for me tried to get me to pay 6.3%. I told them I got preaproval and showed them a fax and rate. Then the guy spoke to the boss and matched the rate. I wish I knew about the penfed one, it would have saved me 1%.
  • hookshot35hookshot35 Member Posts: 16
I can't believe you got an even better deal than me!! I thought my deal would never be beat. Hey send me an email with your info. I was told there was some kind of referral incentive! hookshot35@yahoo.com

I am so glad my experince is the norm and not a one time deal. I plan to buy another FX in a year or two and Nalley will be the first on my list. Enjoy your new ride!

I'm so excitied I finally got the okay to buy the G from the powers that be!!

I will let everyone know what I end up paying in Pennsylvania. Hopefully I can get at least $3500 under invoice b/c I'm paying in cash. I'm looking at the G coupe AWD with Prem and NAV.
But I'm not looking forward to selling my current car. Wish me luck!
  • chikki123chikki123 Member Posts: 4
I did not have anything to trade-in and this mileage was just under 50(no demo) and has been enjoying the ride as well. There was no price hagle as well as it was fixed in email/phone conversations. No obilgation on financing as well as financing is a seperate transaction (post pricing) and they matched my credit union rate.

FYI on the 3.99% loan with PENFED.ORG

This is what is said on their site:

Refinance your car loan -- Bring us your loan from a dealer or other financial institution and we'll refinance it at our current rate and terms.

I will call them tomorrow and see if I can make it happen. It would save me over $800. AND I don't have to deal with a BIG Bank.

Hi - New to the forum, but am excited about the opportunity to purchase a G37X sedan. I am in the Cleveland area and am looking for recommendations for dealerships or leasing companies that would provide the best deal and overall experience. This will be my first infiniti and I have read many posts here, but any Ohio specific information would be greatly appreciated.
  • m6userm6user Member Posts: 3,181
Very nice deal and congratulations. Just goes to show you that some dealers are making deals well below the $2500 under invoice that some would make people think are impossible unless there is some kind of "gotcha" in the deal.
  • sewellgsmsewellgsm Member Posts: 775
Sometimes Infiniti offers "sales contest" to dealerships - IF they sell "x" amount of a vehicle they are trying to move - they win money. For instance, Infinit offered our dealership $1000 per M or G37 coupe we sold - IF (key word) we sold a total of 27 for the month! So, when we get to the last couple of days and we are sitting at 25 or 26 - you bet we won't miss a deal on a coupe or M in this instance - it could be worth $27,000 to us! Plus, if dealers hit their goal earlier in the month, they know they will be getting an extra $1000 per vehicle sold - that is one reason you see so much business at the end of the month.

The G sedan is selling so well, they don't need a contest to move them - the $2500 is doing that.

PS We've sold 45 G sedans this month - none less than $1700 below invoice - so you guys are doing a great job in getting deals - remember the trade and financing are just as important - and include the doc or prep fees into your price. :)

2009 G37 sedan, liquid platinum/graphite, 13 miles, Journey, premium package, illuminated kickplates, alarm inpact sensor, splash guards, trunk mat, trunk cargo net. MSRP $37,910, Invoice $34,867, paid $33,449 with wheel locks and tint included. Tax $2090.56, dealer invoice tax $60.74, doc fee $50.00, transfer fee $33.00, state registration $77.30, state inspection sticker $23.75, OTD price $35,784.35. Cash purchase. Austin Infiniti, Austin, TX. Figured out exactly what I wanted, contacted all other Texas dealers first via email asking if they had the exact car I wanted and what their best price was, dickered back a bit with a couple to improve the offers, then gave Austin Infiniti a chance to bid at the end. I live in Austin and wanted to spend my money locally, if possible. They came in basically at invoice on the first pass, but dropped immediately when I disclosed the other offers I got and indicated I was willing to travel to get my car. Relatively quick, easy experience. For Austin buyers, I highly recommend Akeem Disu at Austin Infiniti. No pressure, knowledgable, straight dealing, very nice guy. But do your research and get your numbers in order first! We set up the deal over email and he got me in and out of the dealership a very happy man in about 45 minutes!
