The last two cars I bought for cash, no trade, no special one-of-a-kind vehicle or anything like that. Each one was well below invoice before any sort of rebate. One was an Infiniti and the other a Mazda. New, not demos. Like I said absolutely no special cases. No, they didn't get me on financing I paid cash. No they didn't screw me on a trade, there was none. Were they trying to sell to win a contest or something....no idea....don't care. These were both purchased in a lot better economic conditions then we are in now.
For the last twenty years you could go just about anywhere and purchase for invoice plus $100 or so. You don't think now you can cut a lot better deal. Just go on paying $300-500 over invoice and rejoice in your false pride that you got a really good deal but please don't advise people to do the same.
Oh, and if someone thinks that the 40 or so people that regularly post on this forum are the only ones that read it....they are living in a fantasy world.
and dealerships stand to profit from good surveys, that's why it is a bargaining tool. im glad i had the opportunity to teach you something.
I'm new to this forum and I'd like to get your opinion of this pricing:
G37xs
premium
nav
sport
cargo net, splash guards
22,000 miles per year
36 month lease
no money down
$575 per month(includes acquisition fee, bank fee, taxes rolled in at a 7.35% rate, where I live, Westchester County, NY)
Legit? Thanks for any input.
Bought mine 9/2/09. Let me know if you want to pair up for Amex reward cads. Thanks.

I have leased two G's in the past year. Once at $300 under invoice, one at $1000 under invoice so I think I know how to make a deal.

Posts about other members, other car-based websites, etc, etc... are all off topic here.
Did some good posts get thrown out with the bad? Beats me... nobody wants to read that crap, and neither do I..
Stay on topic, or keep quiet.. If you think this only means some other member, you've missed the point (and, I'm sure most of you will).

If anyone wants to know current incentives, days supply, time lines of new product, or averages of what is happening at the store I work at (there are over 180 Infiniti dealerships in the US) let me know. Not often will you have someone on the inside giving you straight information - sometimes you might not want to hear the truth....but at least you will have it.
Most of the time I am actually encouraging you to buy from my competitors - it is not like I gain anything from that.
Sorry for "stirring the pot" this week - I will stay on topic.
As some other members have expressed, I found your posts sincere, informative and valuable. In my shopping for next ride, I also follow threads of a number of other models. I wish there is someone like you in those other threads to provide inside information and dealers' perspective.
My current lease (non-Infiniti) ends on March 31, 2010. However, my target date of purchase is by end of this year to take advantage of sales tax deductability. I live in California where sales tax is nearly 10%. The combined Federal and State income tax saving for a ~$40k car will be around $1,500. Therefore, I am extremely disappointed that the 2010 G will not hit the showroom until January of 2010. Moreover, not only will there be no $2,500 incentive from Infiniti (as it does now for 2009 models), but also most dealers will try to sell at as close to MSRP as they possible can, Put all these into consideration, the effective price difference between comparable 2009 G and 2010 G will be close to $5,000 ($2,500 incentive + $1,500 tax saving + $1,000 due to demand/supply).
I know the 2010 G is mostly only a mid-cycle refresh in styles (yes, I do follow the 2010 Infiniti G thread). I have been trying to find photo of the "restyled" 2010 G with no success. So, here is a question for you: does the "restyled" 2010 G worth the extra $5,000? I can't care less if it is only minor facelift (such as BMW's so-called "new" 2009 BMW 3-series). Of course, it will be most helpful if you have photos to share.
Thanks in advance.
PS And by March, when your lease is up, who knows maybe Infiniti will have a small incentive that closes that gap even more. I recommend never getting out of a lease early (unless you are over on your miles) - it can get expensive.
I will not get out the current lease early. If I lease my next car, then I definitely will wait until/near end of March. However, pulling the trigger at end of December may make sense if I am to buy the car, because of the sales tax saving and year-end promotion. In that case, I would have two cars for 3 months.

Can I expect the same thing in the infiniti?

On the other hand, it is more advantageous to lease in California because sales tax is levied on lease payment. I believe that some states collection sales tax up front based on the new car value.
The sticker on the car is $42,955...includes premium package, cargo net, and, illuminated kick plates...Salesman made the price....$40,995 plus tax and DMV..or additional $2,000 off if we did not want special financing....which would make the car..$38,995 plus tax and dmv...
I know what I think of his offer.....I want to know what the Infiniti car deal experts think,,,,I have no trade....I am willing to pay cash....and I don't want the kick plates..so the MSRP of the car that I want is $42,625.....what would be a great deal on this car??
I already own a 2006 Infinti G35x which I bought new from the same dealer.
Thanks in advance for any info you can provide to me....
You want to shoot for invoice - 2500 or about $37,000. If you are within $500 its a pretty good deal. Anything more walk away.

Here's what I got:
A 2009 G37 Journey,
Color: Black
Navigation Package, Premium Package, Technology Package.
The dealer said the MSRP was $40,420, but we worked out a deal for $34,800.
Is that a good deal or should I push for better?
I'm new here btw.
After what I have read on here I was thinking that $36K would have been a good starting point....I knew that what he said was too high and when I told him that I thought there was a $2500 dealer incentive he had the nerve to say..."that;s only on the sedan"...Now I wouldn;t buy the car for more than $35K...it is always great to shop when YOU DON"T HAVE TO BUY....
Thank you for your input...Your posts and others have been very informative.
By it self, i think its a descent deal. you could do better if you put more time with the dealers in your area. But how much more you will get may not be worth your time - thats your call. Are you happy with the dealer?
Also, dealer makes commission on the financing, so shop that as well, I knocked off 2.5% by having other financing options. Saved about $40/mo. Dealer magically matched the rate. See earlier threads for penfed CU financing special. I'm sure there are others available too.
Holman Infiniti is an unethical dealership that will use unethical tactics to get your sale. Unfortunately for them, I’m no patsy and I *will* write about my experience. On Tuesday, I will send a letter to Infiniti Corporate Consumer Affairs.
Well since wasting my time with Holman, all the neighboring Infiniti dealerships have run dry on the X coupes, at least in the colors I want. I’ve decided I will cross shop the Audi A5 and see if I can get a good deal on a 2010 model.
The point is...if we all do our homework, the car dealers cannot mess with us because we are prepared. Just as the Infiniti salesman did not offer me the $2500 discount but rather he gave me ONLY $2,000..and I called him on it. and then he lied by saying it was only $2500 on sedans...If he believes that he can sell a car to me by lying and scamming....he is wasting his time. Any car purchase is too expensive to not have ANY DEALER TREAT YOU HONESTLY AND FAIRLY AND RESPECTFULLY AS WELL. They are allowed to make profit...and we are allowed to try to get the best deal that we can...and that is what car buying is...To make a large purchase...a car...should be pleasant and not an ordeal...just walk away from them and NEVER LOOK BACK.....Afterall, it is....ONLY A CAR.....
I didn't post anything after you said you got a good deal w/ them. I think they might change the way they do business.
I purchase 3 infinitis for the last 4 years. I stopped by this dealer every time I want to get a new car b/c it's on my way to work. However, their deals are usually a lot higher than other dealers in the area. So, I never got a car from them.
I just bought G37 on 9/5/09 and would like to team up.
I sent you E-mail on 9/7/09. Please E-mail me back at eddyjb@aol.com to confirm.
Thanks.
Just bought the following in So. Cal.:
2009 G37 Sedan, Journey, Liq Platinum/Stone, Prem/Nav/Sport + 3 other options.
MSRP = 41,855
Invoice = 38,310
Sales Price paid (cash) = $35,610
That's 2,700 under Invoice (including the current 2500 incentive). 6,245 below MSRP.
I tried to get the car for 3,000 under invoice, but the dealer would not go for it.
You might want to use the above numbers for your negotiations.
I am considering the purchase of a Journey sedan around the end of this month and I am currently doing my price homework. Edmunds shows the invoice price (no options) at 31,142, but Kelly Blue Book website shows it at 31,442, supposedly effective June 19, 2009. This is an increase of $300. Anybody know if this is true?
As an aside, I was trying to figure out if it would make better financial sense to negotiate my best price with the 2,500 incentive deduction and pay cash for the car, or try to get it for as much under invoice as I could and go with the zero percent financing (my credit is excellent).
Using a simple savings calculator, I determined that it would be better to go for the financing. Let's say the cost of the car is 35,000. If I finance at zero percent and put the cash in a money market account earning 3% for 36 months, I would earn 3,291 dollars in interest compared to the 2,500 off deal, a difference of 791 dollars. Am I missing anything?
Regards
I finalized a deal on g37x with premium package in NJ for $33,250 including the $2500 rebate. Invoice price as per edmunds.com is $35,886. Please comment about the deal.
Thanks.
