    Clouser1,

Thanks for sharing the details. How would the tax thing work. I live in OH, If I buy in MD, should I pay for the tax in MD or OH? Where should the registration be done? Could you explain how did you do?

been reading the forums here for a few weeks...thanks everyone for all the great info.

    question for you. i'm looking at a 2009 G37x Sedan. Prem/Nav/Sport. it's a demo with ~3800 miles on it. graphite/graphite

dealer still has quite a few on the lot. how low would you recommend to start with an offer? how much lower can you expect a dealer to go to get rid of a demo? The MSRP they're listing is $42,480

    thanks a lot. :)

Has anyone seen the new stone or wheat interior on the 2010's? It looks like they did away with the black dash/steering wheel contrast and have a new lighter format.

Does anyone else find this less sporty? I hesitated on my purchase once I saw it.

Am I crazy to not get the car because of this?

I've seen the stone interior and I didn't much care for it so I went for graphite. For me the interior colour scheme isn't a huge deal, so I most likely would've taken whatever they had. Your priorities might be different. For me, if I'm spending that much money on a car, I want it to be exactly what I want.

pre-2010 stone had black dash and wheat had kind of light brown/grey dash.

2010- both stone and wheat has the light dash. I think it's the same color that was used previously w/ the wheat. Personally, I like the black dash. It looks much nicer.

I think you should just get the all black.
  • jtlajtla Member Posts: 388
No, you are not crazy. I agree with the two replies before me. I have seen both stone and wheat interior, and do not care for either with the aluminum accent. It may look much better with the maple wood accent, but I have not seen any car with wood inserts in person, only photos on various websites.

You should get what you really like, or it would bother you throughout your ownership of the vehicle.

My experience with a dealer demo is as follows. My expectation is that the dealer should offer a discount equivalent to the car being used as a rental. That is .x x cents times mileage equals discount. Part of my thinking is the car has lost warranty mileage and I do not know how it was driven. The dealers do not agree with my thinking and in my experience offer only a few hundred dollars off your deal price for a new 15 mile car. In other words the savings is not much if you deal hard on a new car. Demos are a good return for the dealership. Salesman gets to drive the car as a perk and the dealership gets most of the value at sale because customers accept the premise that demos sell for a better price.

I have steared away from dark interiors due to excessive heat temperatures during the hot sunny months. Does anyone with a black interior find this concern overblown?

    RD7
  • billpaulbillpaul Member Posts: 103
Actually, I think dark paint is more of a problem than dark interiors. The windows are tinted (& more can be added), plus a windshield cover placed on the dash will also prevent heat absorption by a dark interior.

Dark paints absorb a lot of heat. Try putting your hands on a black car vs. a white car on a hot sunny day. A different issue is that darker paints show all scratches & dirt, whereas lighter paints do a much better job of hiding them. Black cars age very quickly as far as appearance is concerned, and usually look fairly dirty.

So, I think the concern about dark interiors is overblown.
  • jtlajtla Member Posts: 388
Black interior does get hotter than wheat or stone in the summer, especially if you have leather as opposed to fabric. However, unless you reside in Texas or Arizona, it is not that bad. I am in Southern California and currently have black leather interior. It has never been a problem to me.

Of course it is of personal taste, but IMO black interior looks sporty and sophisticated, not to mention easy to take care (or not to ). On the other hand, wheat or stone is easy to show stain and wear.

(P.S. Just want to remind you that this is a pricing thread. You may want to post additional question/comment in the 2010 G37 thread, which is more appropriate and may get more audience and feedback. ;) )

    Hi SewellGSM,

Is there any change in factory incentive program from Infiniti for February? Thanks.
  • sewellgsmsewellgsm Member Posts: 775
Only one small change in the incentives this month. On the 2010 G37 sedan, if you take the special rates (0% for 36, etc) there is now an additional $500 in dealer cash to go along with those rates.

    Recap:

    09 Sedan: Special Rates + $1000 OR $3500
    09 Coupe: Special Rates + $1500 OR $4500
    09 Convertible: $2000

    10 Sedan: Special Rates + $500 OR $1500
10 Coupe: Special Rates OR $1500
    10 Convertible: not released yet

    Hope this helps. :)

I ended up a couple hundred dollars under invoice at Chantilly Infiniti. George is a straight(ish) shooter with lots of sales awards on his desk... I pointed this out, saying he doesn't need to make a mint on this sale.

    $38.2 neg price
    $38.7 invoice

throw in TTL and I am the happy new owner of a moonlight white, premium, nav, wheat, splashguard, wood, trunk mat, cargo net, illuminated kickplate 2010 G37X... sitting in my damned garage so it doesn't get dirty. The 2006 Accord is caked with road salt. I demoed 0-60 to my wife, she looked at me and said "was that worth $40K????" , dumbfounded, I replied yes. Will take some getting used to with gear ratios 1,2... kind of jerky high reving... newby to 300+hp tho.

Finally purchased my car by the end of Jan. AWD + Navi + Premium, MSRP: $41,110. dealer price: $36,502 (plus document fee/registration/tax/etc.). A dealer called me today with even better price $36,050, but too late.

    SewellGSM,
How often does a typical Infiniti dealer receive shipment of new inventory? Once a month, twice a month, or ...?
  • sbjforeversbjforever Member Posts: 5
I've researched pretty much all there is to know about buying one of the gorgeous coupes. Drooled for hours over manufacturers' glossy webpages.Trouble is,nobody has any inventory! Or at best one or two models. I'm in southern Oregon so am limited to Beaverton for Infiniti and Medford plus a few others for Hyundai. But surfing CA dealer webpages produces pretty much the same miserable choice. O  Or no choice at all.

Preference is for either a Moonlight White G37 Journey - Auto, Nav, Premium, Sport, Illuminated Kick Plates, or a Karussell White 3.8L Genesis Track, Auto with Nav. Most dealers have crappy color choice. Want a bright yellow Genesis anyone?! And/or list a very limited selection of option packages. Have other searchers found this to be the case? When are boatloads of these fabulous cars in the range of colors and packages shown in the Infiniti/Hyundai webpage going to arrive?

problem is it cost a lot more than 40k to get a new one (wife) wouldn't it be nice if you could lease them.
  • snoopdawgsnoopdawg Member Posts: 25
I looked at this when I was considering exterior color choices and there are a few decent articles on the web (black car vs white car etc).

Tinting the windows is the single biggest thing you can do to reduce temp inside the car, along with a windshield shade. I ended up buying a black on black and live in FL. My wife has the white on black but she just bought hers so we won't be able to do the pepsi challenge till things really heat up in July :)

    sewellgsm,

which of these incentives will work with a lease? we're feeling neglected over in the lease questions board.

    thanks.
  • millwood0millwood0 Member Posts: 451
it is actually a complicated question.

any black object absorbs more heat radiated onto it, than a white object. This explains why a black car under the sun is hotter than a light color'd car: it simply absorbs more energy from the sun and radiate it into the interior of the vehicle.

a black object also radiates more heat than a light object. that's why heatsinks are black. so black interior will be cooler than white interior, everything else being equal.

follow that reasoning, it is best to have dark interior + light colored exterior: less heat to absorb and more heat to radiate away.

ok, the best offer I have right now...tell me what you all think.

  • millwood0millwood0 Member Posts: 451
that's a very good price - I got exactly the same car last december for $100 less.

I have seen some numbers lower but yours is definitely a good price.
  • sewellgsmsewellgsm Member Posts: 775
We get around 100 vehicles a month, so they come about 8 at a time, so we get a couple of truck loads a week. :)
  • sewellgsmsewellgsm Member Posts: 775

    Lease:

    09 coupe: $1500

sewell...again, thanks for posting. I'm trying to understand....on 2010 G37 (I happen to be looking at an "x" with premium and NAV), there's $1,000 cash back direct to the customer and $1,500 in money from Inifiniti to the dealer, correct?

This is on a purchase....no financing needed.

    BTW....where are you located?

Yeah I could not agree more. Heavy tinted windows reduce the car temperature inside. I used to have an accord with little tint on and it felt like I was sun bathing when driving because of the heat.
  • bondibondi Member Posts: 9
2/1/10 Bought same, except 2010 plus Sport, wheel locks for OTD $37,000. in MA
    3.99% for 60 mos.
    IMO Graphite Shadow looks best.
    Hope this helps.

That is such a great price. I can't get any of the 3 area Infiniti dealerships to come close to that price. The best quote I have right now is $33100 for a G37x with the premium package only. I can't get anyone to go below that! :confuse:

    Enjoy your new ride!
  • gooddeal2gooddeal2 Member Posts: 750
This is what he posted 2 days ago for purchase:

    10 Sedan: Special Rates + $500 OR $1500

I think the $1000 loyalty cash is for lease only.

What is the lowest OTD for basic G37 2010?
  • helloryhellory Member Posts: 4
Thanks guys...it's all finished now. I went to my local dealer and spoke with the sales manager and the GM about the price from another dealer just a little south of me. They said they couldn't match the price since somehow the other dealer was willing to lose some money on it somehow. BUT, they said, "buy it from us for $200 more and we'll give you a $300 service credit." and, since the price on tags from them was $200 less than the other guy, I'm actually making out by a couple hundred.

hopefully they're picking it up today from their sister dealer. i'm looking forward to it.
  • jtlajtla Member Posts: 388
Let me get this straight. Based on hellory's original post and your reply, are you saying that you just bought a 2010 G37x with Premium, Navi, and Sport packages with MSRP over $42k, for $37,000 OTD? That's unbelievable! At this kind of discount, one can buy and ship coast-to-coast and still ahead by at least a couple grands. Either I interpeted wrong, or there is more story to it.
  • helloryhellory Member Posts: 4
looks like something got lost in translation... :)

it's a 2009 G37x Sedan. Premium and Nav otd for $36.5 with the $300 service credit.

very nice people at infiniti of west chester
  • jtlajtla Member Posts: 388
hellory, I am not sure whether you are responding to my post above. I was referring to bondi's post #9697 in which he responded to your post #9691 as "bought the same, except 2010 plus Sport...".
  • hudgeehudgee Member Posts: 9
    Sure does. Thanks.
  • jtlajtla Member Posts: 388
Okay, $37k + TTL makes sense. $37k OTD was too good to be true. Must have been his typo. Thanks.

    Hey gang,

Questions from a first-time Infiniti buyer:

I'm starting my research on getting a 2009 G37 (base model preferred), and would really appreciate some general info to get me started, as I'm new and green to the scene.

It seems a lot of people are getting the AWD G37x - is that in any way "preferred," and why so? I looked briefly into the G35 a few years ago and didn't see much interest in the AWD models.

Also, it sounds like there are some incentives going around and with some homework/travel you can still get a few thousand under invoice for a 2009. Is that still the case? I've purchased a few cars before and always comparison shop for the lowest price, just want to get an idea of ballpark range for realistic good-to-great deals.

Lastly, kind of a blanket question, but any general information/resources you would recommend to new G37 purchasers?

    Thanks!
  • sewellgsmsewellgsm Member Posts: 775
    No, let me clarify.

10 G sedan: $1500 to the dealer on a purchase that is it. The $1000 Loyalty Rebate is only IF you lease and only IF you own an Infiniti.

    We are in Dallas.
  • sewellgsmsewellgsm Member Posts: 775
    Newshopper

Most customers talking about the AWD on this forum need the AWD based on where they live and the climate. If you live in the South - RWD is fine and cost a tad less. The 2009s are becoming very limited in stock. I think you should be able to get $3000 below invoice (close to $6000 off MSRP depending on equipment). Others on this site will say you could get even more off....good luck. :)
  • mdes1mdes1 Member Posts: 11
G37x models are practically all they have available in areas that have snow in winter. I got a 2009 G37x sedan w/premium, MSRP $39125, invoice $36048, for $32000 +TTL, along with some free accessories (wheel locks, door guards, all-weather floor mats). I had two dealers competing for my business, which helped matters tremendously. My price included the $3500 manufacturer-to-dealer cash that was available at the time (purchased at the end of January). No financing/paid cash.

My opinion only - Traded in a 06 G35 coupe which I loved driving (loved the exhaust when starting and the sound when driving - you just know when a G35 is coming down the street) for a more "practical" G37 sedan - prem with wheels. I liked it at first, but after 8500 miles, I feel it's kind of boring.
I was thinking of trading it in for a another 06-07 G35, but the trade in value seems to be in the $26-27K range, which doesn't seem that great (got it for invoice at the time).
I really like Infiniti so I made the mistake of not driving anything else.
Don't get me wrong, it's a great car, but I don't have a family coming for a couple years, so in the meantime, I'd rather drive something I love for $600/mo than something that I like for similar $$. :confuse:
  • gatorlexus7gatorlexus7 Member Posts: 6
Don't trade backwards, the sedan is boring! But not the 09 G37S coupe. It is an improved version of the G35. Trade for the coupe, great car!!
  • millwood0millwood0 Member Posts: 451
maybe you should try one of the BMWs. we traded down to the Infiniti and liked the value we got for our money but from a driving enjoyment point of view, I would go with a 3 or 1 series.

    or better yet, a Miata.
  • mdes1mdes1 Member Posts: 11
Without a sport suspension and a manual tranny, either the coupe or sedan are a compromise of performance.

However, I really liked the looks of the coupe, but I wanted AWD (G37x) in the snow, which doesn't even have a sport suspension option (the "sport pkg" only upgrades wheels, tires, and seats on the G37x). The coupe and sedan have the same suspension in all G37x (AWD) versions regardless of options, and their performance is identical. I drove them back-to-back and the only thing I noticed was the lower seating position in the coupe. The handling was exactly the same.

Also, the coupe is really impractical. On my test drive, the salesman had to strain and bend just to get out of the back. Then he had to sit sideways (his butt in the right seat, and his feet on the left side) in order to fit back there.

Then I opened the trunk, and the coupe was ruled out. That trunk cannot even hold one large suitcase. They actually put instructions in the owner's manual on how to carefully arrange two sets of golf clubs because it is almost impossible to stow even that small load! How could you even drive a friend to the airport if he/she has a suitcase?

Bottom line: 6MT coupe is great, if you can handle RWD in your area. Otherwise, the coupe makes no sense (but it looks good).
  • pharm30pharm30 Member Posts: 36
yeah, tried to be practical, didn't work haha, thought I needed the bigger trunk and with parents getting older, the back seat in the coupe was pretty much impossible.
My girlfriend loves her Audi A3, so I might go look at an Audi A4.
The Lexus IS backseats are pretty much useless and I read a couple places people say they are boring to drive.
Not really sure what else I would care to look at.....
  • dat2dat2 Member Posts: 251
A lot of new cars are boring to drive until you really flog them...and then you end up in jail. That is the beauty of the Miata or maybe MR2 Spyder, they are fun to drive in normal driving and all of the classic sports car "feel" is retained in day to day driving. So if you just want to have fun buy a Miata and keep your G for daily slogging or people hauling. Good luck!
