Current 02 Maxima owner drooling over 6MT Coupe..I've seen a few in the NH/MA area with 4500-6000 miles on them. One in particular has 4500mi and looks like they put aftermarket twins pipes on the single pipes in back. Anyway...they are asking 32,900 for this car. KBB seems to be about there, but this seems kinda steep. It looks like it has all but NAV for options, so with the exhaust pipe mod, which i could take or leave, the price just seems a little high for a used model, now that I see they have a re-design due out end of this year/beginning of next year.
What do you guys think? I would think 30 would be the max for this car but maybe I'm just cheap...:(
Advice? I would think dealers would be soon discounting NEW 04 cars since 05's are coming, so the USED ones will be even cheaper...
Bear in mind that the MSRP for this car is around $36000 and Carsdirect is showing a price in your area of $34380. You should be able to get a base G35 6MT Coupe for $31500 to $32000.
Yeah the price seems about right on KBB too...I jut want it for less I guess. The car is at an Infiniti dealer, but it doesnt look like it's certified. I'm not sure it could be certified since it has a different performance exhaust on it. Not sure what brand exhaust, but the sales guy I spoke with said that the car was bought by an dealership employee because he couldnt wait for one with nav, and when the nav coupe came avail he then traded this for it. The car has 4500 miles on it so it;s barely broken in. I guess I would meet their number if they were good to me on my trade but wouldn't take a beating on both. I have an 02 GLE Maxima with 50K on it so I'm sure they will try to beat the pulp out of me....
Hope to test drive either later this week or early next week. I wonder how the different exhaust sounds...the stock one on the coupe I hear sounds throaty and nice, I hope this doesnt sound like a fart pipe or tinny like all those jazzed up civics and stuff. That would be a deal breaker...
If so, what percentage of MSRP did you pay?
Thanks!
I'm nervous about buying because I'm not sure a G35 is going to hold it's value....will it? I will have to finance for a min. of 5 years.
My general feeling is that the car is so popular that I will be paying close to sticker...is this correct? Is the price somewhat negotiable?
Should I wait a few months and get a 2005?

They have the G35 in their 5 star depreciatin category which is the best one. Also, look at the 3 year lease residuals on the G35. Depending on mileage and model it's between 56% - 60%. That's up there in BMW, M-B and Lexus territory.
As for 2004 vs. 2005, the 2005 model will have a few improvements on the 2004, most noticeably the interior. What no one knows yet is what the pricing is going to be. At the moment, a 2004 can be had for pretty much invoice (sedan) and there is low rate financing available. If cost is a major issue then the 2004 is probably the better bet.
The "Registration and Fees" line on the sales contract from an Infiniti dealer in NY also includes the word "Estimate," and the salesman told me it the difference between the actual costs and what I pay him now ($250) will be refunded to me when they send me the registration and plates. Is this common? (i.e., paying an "estimate" fee and getting back whatever is left after the paperwork is done by the dealer)
Thanks. (By the way, the $250 is approximately "two thirds of 1% of the purchase price" that you mentioned.)
Color: Desert Platinum
Interior: Black, Leather
Transmission: Auto
Other Options: 17" wheels, spoiler, sunroof, CD/Cassette, mats, tinted windows
Mileage: 15,600
Warranty: 4 years/48,000 miles
Dealer Asking Price: $26,999.00
According to the dealer, the original owner traded it in for a Toyota SUV. I am thinking $26,000 is a good starting point for negotiation with the dealer. I'd like to hear what others feel is a fair price for this vehicle. I was considering purchasing new until I found this vehicle/offer.
Thanks in advance!

A couple of things to check on. Does it have the premium package (look for dual zone climate control, rear air vents among other things)? Are the wheels 5 spoke or 6 spoke? If it's 5, it has the sports tuned suspension package. If it's 6 spokes then the spoiler is probably dealer fitted. Also, is it a 2003 or 2003.5? The way to tell is to look at the back. Is there an external trunk release button?
Thanks for the feedback! According to the salesperson, it is a 2003.5. He also mentioned the absence of an external trunk release as being a way to tell the 2003 from the 2003.5.
The wheels are 17" with only 5 spokes. Not sure about the dual zone climate control, rear vents and other stuff. I'll need to check on that. I do know that it does not have the Bose sound system or navigation.
Anything else you can think of?
Much appreciated,

6MT coupes are in short supply in the northeast. I just got one recently and I think I did alright in terms of pricing. Biggest factor is if the coupe you want/the way you want it, is on the lot. If so, then the dealer should be willing to take a good bit off msrp to move it. I lucked out because the local dealer had my top two color choices equiped just the way I wanted. Hardest part was choosing between the two color combinations.
Best of luck
Opened it up this weekend and it was so much better than I ever expected.
Thanks to everyone on this board for their info and help
Thanks for the feedback! I appreciate it. Can i ask what you paid over invoice? Can't tell if i'm being taken advantage of or not. Thanks a lot.

The money factor and residual look spot on so no funny business there. The doc fee is a pain but I guess there is no regulation of them were you are. In California they are limited to $45.
There are no dealer incentives on the G35x at the moment so they will be going into the 1% hold back to give you a $250 under invoice deal. Everything else looks pretty straight so they're not making any extra by bumping up the money factor or anything.
I'd be a little wary of some of the thousands of dollars under invoice stories you hear. If I gave you $3000 less for your trade than it was worth, bumped your interest rate by 3% and sold you wheel locks, paint protection and window etching for $2000 then I could probably sell you a G35 at $3500 below invoice!
I live in Midwest. Here are my best deals on a 2004 G35 with Premium Package, 60months, 55k miles. No NAV.
One dealer offered me 489.00/mo, bring 960.00 to closing which is 1st pmt, bank fee, title, tags etc.
2nd dealer offered 517.00/mo, just bring 1st payment to closing, nothing else.
My personal feeling is that is pretty steep for a 2004 model but I guess this is the market price.
Comments?
Unfortunately only for U.S. Military....

Lets look at something a little bit more reasonably. The MSRP for a G35 premium package is $34090. It should be easy to get it for $500 over invoice (at the moment invoice should be achievable but lets go $500 over for now) which is $31723. The current 39 month, 12,000 miles per year money factor is 0.00153 and the residual 61%. $900 should cover bank fee, tags, etc. Punching all this into a calculator gives us a monthly payment of $361 plus tax. Getting the car at invoice gives a monthly of $347 plus tax.
If you must lease for 60 months then insist that the dealer gives you the capitalized cost of the car (how much off MSRP or over invoice the lease is based on), the money factor and the residual.
I wanted to get some feedback from owners of G35 coupes. I have been reading the forums and have noticed some complaints about the car. How does everyone like the coupe so far and are the problems as abundant as it seems? Any advice on getting a 2003 or 2004 model? How about price on used models vs. new? I am going looking tomorrow so I will let everyone know what I find.
Thanks
As far as year goes, it really depends how much you want to spend. There were no major differences between the two years so it's really a case of finding the car you like the most and getting it for the best price.
Have fun looking tomorrow.
Thank you for the reply. Here is what I found today. It looks like finding a used Diamond Graphite with willow interior is going to be hard to do and then I still have some fighting to do on price since they are holding value. I was at Ardmore Infiniti in PA today and they have the car I want MSRP $35,810 and offered it to me for $33,810. The big deal maker is they offered me a good deal on my trade. My only questions now are:
1. Is the new model worth the few thousand for the full warranty and no previous mileage?
2. Will there be any discounts or special financing if I wait until the 05s come out?
3. Any advice on Diamond Graphie versus Desert Platinum?
Thanks again.
2. At the moment no one knows. The G35 Coupe isn't a difficult car to sell and last year there were no incetives or special finance to sell the 2003s once the 2004s came out. There are a lot of revisions to the 2005 car and it could be more expensive than the 2004.
3. Diamond Graphite is the more popular and will probably make it easier to sell later. They're both nice colours though.
Have you tried West Chester Infiniti yet? I think they're close to you. They have a reputation for good deals. Might be worth a 'phone call. If nothing else, you could use a lower quote from them to get the price down at Ardmore.
I don't know what invoice is and not really sure that it matters. When you are dealing with a 6MT coupe, you price shop by what the dealer is taking off of the sticker. In my case, I got $1500 off sticker with some goodies thrown in. It was the best price I could find and I called all of the big guns in New England. Remember, I got the exact color combo I wanted, with the coupe equipped exactly the way I wanted it. If you are looking for a DG/graphite interior, the dealer I worked with had on and they will deal.
Let me know how you do.
I live in Midwest. Here are my best deals on a 2004 G35 with Premium Package, 36 months, 55k miles. No NAV.
One dealer offered me 489.00/mo, bring 960.00 to closing which is 1st pmt, bank fee, title, tags etc.
2nd dealer offered 517.00/mo, just bring 1st payment to closing, nothing else.
My personal feeling is that the prices I've had quoted to me are really steep considering these are 2004 models.
What do you all think?
Thanks.
Based on 36 months and 18,000 miles a year (54000 miles) I get $451 plus tax on this down payment. The extra 1,000 miles would cost $100 over the course of the ease.
"2nd dealer offered 517.00/mo, just bring 1st payment to closing, nothing else."
I get this one at $462 plus tax.
Both of these are based on an MSRP of $34090 and a selling price of $31723 ($500 over invoice).
