Also, could you clarify what the "Sports Package" option refers to? The list of options does not refer to this item.
I've got a quote from a dealer in the Boston area for a G35X for 31,399 which includes the premium package. This sounds like a good deal but want to know if there is anything I should watch out for. Thank you for all your help in advance.
It is almost $1500 off of invoice ($32,873). Make sure that car has premium package
Make sure that they are are not making their money by jacking up the cost of the financing - either the money factor if it is a lease or the APR if you are purchasing it outright.
Documentation fee - No reason for thisto be any more than $50. Any more is just pure profit.
Trade in - If you are trading a car, make sure you know exactly how much it is worth. The "real world trade in values" forum here on Edmunds is well worth a visit.
Finance - If you are financing or leasing make sure you know what your credit scores are before you agree to anything. There are a number of web sites where you can get this info.
Finance 2 - Make sure you are getting the best rate from the dealer. Jacking the rate up by 1% can make the dealer an extra $1000 or so.
"Extras" - Don't agree to any extras unless you actually want them. Overpriced add-ons are the #1 way of re-couping the discount given on a new car. Don't be taken by "protection" packages that do little more than a can of Scotchguard and some Zaino can do for a tenth of the price. Window etching can cost as little as $30. Same for wheel locks. EX-1 security alarms cost the dealer around $125 - $150. Lo-Jack between $500 - $750.
At this price the car is $147 under invoice. What colour is it? If you haven't seen the car in person yet, ask for the actual mileage just in case it's been used for customer demos.
Good luck and let us know how you get on.
I believe that invoice on a G35X is $32873 so at $31399 it is almost $1500 less than invoice.
I'm just about getting ready to lease a G35x and was wondering...is it possible to get the windows tinted? Will that void the lease terms? Better yet, can the dealer provide the window tinting?
Do any of you have experience with mods on a leased car?
Thanks!
thanks.
There are a lot of dealers down in the MD/PA/NJ area that have a large number of the G35X on their lot, but they have not been very willing to negotiate. The best I can do is about $300 under invoice. When the rate was 1.9% I had an offer of invoice on a car, so $300 will not make up for the increase in interest rate.
Every dealer has said that the special rates will not come back, but I can't see them selling that many cars at 5% financing, with the 2005's right around the corner. Not that I expect them to come out and tell me the rates are going to get better.
Also, some areas of the country have next to no G35x models available. They may just get re-distributed.
Two weeks ago I travelled about 100 miles to get the G35 i wanted at the price i wanted. I tried to be sure everything was perfect with the car since I had to travel to get it and knew it would be hard to get the dealer to fix anything after i took possession of the car. I noticed that someone had scuffed one of the rear splash guards (backed into a curb i assume). They reluctantly agreed to take care of that. What i didn't notice is two big scuffs or chunks out of one of the wheels. It does not look like a curb scrape. I don't know how it got there but i know i didn't do it.
I am sure they are going to give me a hard time, b/c i've had the car two weeks, etc. (as a matter of fact they have not even returned my calls for a week now and i haven't even identified the problem). But knowing that i didn't do it and i bought the car this way really pisses me off (both at them for selling the car this way and myself for not noticing it).
Does anyone know what recourse I have if any? Do I need to deal with the far away dealer I bought it from or should I deal with my local dealer? Do they have to replace it or am I screwed? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.
Current Pricing: G35 RWD sedan Leather + prem pkg : MSRP: $34K --> $37k for 2005? That's would be pretty close to M35 pricing. I doubt nissan would do that.
your local dealer isn't obligated, damage isn't a warranty item. for that matter, the selling dealer isn't really obligated either, as the damage could reasonably have been done in the 2 weeks interim (ie. you couldn't prove by a preponderance of evidence that the dealer damaged your wheel). hence the goodwill approach is likely your best and/or only choice.
good luck!
2004 G35X
Premium Package, Splash Guards, Trunk Mat
MSRP $36,070
Quote was $32,189.
I thought it was good, but I'm worried that once October hits, the good financing will be reintroduced.
Thanks
I had offered 32k originally but they told me it was $800 under dealer invoice.
Would really appreciate your help on this as I'm really looking to buy it now.
I will be leasing the car and thinking if I should plunk down the $2,500 cap cost to bring my payments down and if I did that should I be asking them to take more off the price they given me? ($33,310). I'm thinking if they want money down then they would need to shave off more off that price. Am I thinking out this process correctly?
Thanks!
In estimating dealer cost, I'm at a loss about holdback. Should I use ~ $900 (which is about 3% of msrp, as mentioned on this board)? Does the dealer get this *regardless* of how long the car has been on his lot? I heard somewhere that after 90 days the dealer gets zero from holdback (??).
MANY THANKS!
Weirdly enough, people who work for Nissan and Infiniti dealerships don't qualify!
At the moment incentives on the 2004 cars means you can get a lot better price than VPP anyway. On the 2005 cars, VPP will be worth having.
Check out http://www.insidenissan.com/vpp/nissan/offer.htm for details on how the price is worked out. Typically it comes out to 1% to 2% over invoice.
There is a way for anyone to get VPP pricing on 2005 models. If anyone is interested,e-mail me.
Dallas Area.
Does this apply to Infiniti g35x? Should I then subtract 5% of msrp when computing dealer cost, *in addition to* subtracting the current $500 dealer cash for marketing support? Or is this $500 the only thing the Infiniti dealer will get from the manufacturer on leftover 04s?
MANY THANKS.
This car is fast and can really stops!!
Here's an offer that I got from a TN dealer. it seems pretty good:
6MT w/ Premium package
$34,185
60 Months @ 3.94%
Even with this deal, if I financed the whole thing, I'm still looking at payments around $700 a month. I've never had a car note that even approached this amount. I'm having a difficult time signing onto such an obligation despite the fact that I love the car. It's just a mental block. Is any car really worth $700 a month?
