I live in Raleigh, NC and bought an 04 Diamond Graphite/Graphite Int Auto w/ Prem Package, Sport Package, Sport Suspension, and splash guards for $32,600 in February of 04. So by my experience I think that somewhere around 32 is reasonable. Hope this helped.
  • ranajoranajo Member Posts: 57
swheeler007, was yours an AWD? kittenmeow is shopping for a G35x.

Also, could you clarify what the "Sports Package" option refers to? The list of options does not refer to this item.

    Hello everyone,

I've got a quote from a dealer in the Boston area for a G35X for 31,399 which includes the premium package. This sounds like a good deal but want to know if there is anything I should watch out for. Thank you for all your help in advance.
  • sammy2sammy2 Member Posts: 7
It is a superb deal, best i've seen so far.

It is almost $1500 off of invoice ($32,873). Make sure that car has premium package
  • ranajoranajo Member Posts: 57
It is an awesome deal for a G35X with the premium package! It is not just below invoice but also below dealer cost after the holdbacks!

Make sure that they are are not making their money by jacking up the cost of the financing - either the money factor if it is a lease or the APR if you are purchasing it outright.
  • wibblewibble Member Posts: 569
    Not Quirk by any chance? It's a great price but check everything very carefully. Things to look out for are;

Documentation fee - No reason for thisto be any more than $50. Any more is just pure profit.

Trade in - If you are trading a car, make sure you know exactly how much it is worth. The "real world trade in values" forum here on Edmunds is well worth a visit.

Finance - If you are financing or leasing make sure you know what your credit scores are before you agree to anything. There are a number of web sites where you can get this info.

Finance 2 - Make sure you are getting the best rate from the dealer. Jacking the rate up by 1% can make the dealer an extra $1000 or so.

"Extras" - Don't agree to any extras unless you actually want them. Overpriced add-ons are the #1 way of re-couping the discount given on a new car. Don't be taken by "protection" packages that do little more than a can of Scotchguard and some Zaino can do for a tenth of the price. Window etching can cost as little as $30. Same for wheel locks. EX-1 security alarms cost the dealer around $125 - $150. Lo-Jack between $500 - $750.

At this price the car is $147 under invoice. What colour is it? If you haven't seen the car in person yet, ask for the actual mileage just in case it's been used for customer demos.

Good luck and let us know how you get on.

[At this price the car is $147 under invoice]

I believe that invoice on a G35X is $32873 so at $31399 it is almost $1500 less than invoice.

    All -

I'm just about getting ready to lease a G35x and was wondering...is it possible to get the windows tinted? Will that void the lease terms? Better yet, can the dealer provide the window tinting?

Do any of you have experience with mods on a leased car?

    Thanks!
  • wibblewibble Member Posts: 569
Boy am I dumb sometimes. I actually meant to type $1477! It looks like the second "7" went AWOL! Thanks ranajo :)

This month there is $1000 dealer cash on RWD 2004 G35 sedans and $500 on the AWD.
  • loug35loug35 Member Posts: 15
Would you then minus the $1000 with the 1% on the MSRP and the 2% off the invoice. How would that go?

    thanks.
  • bobspivybobspivy Member Posts: 14
I was just wondering if anyone knew whether Infiniti was going offer the 1.9% financing rate for the G35X again? I noticed that they have $500 incentive right now, but no dealer has mentioned if the financing would be offered again. Thanks.
  • wibblewibble Member Posts: 569
It will depend a lot on how many 2004s are left over and how the 2005 cars do. Personally would be surprised if it didn't make a return in the next few months.
  • wibblewibble Member Posts: 569
Infiniti has some lease offers this month. Details are on http://www.infiniti.com/acquire/NationalOffers/0,,,00.html
  • kudy843kudy843 Member Posts: 26
Yes, this deal is offerred by Quirk Infiniti of the Boston area. Also, I just checked with my insurance and that car will cost me $3500/year to insure if I get it now. In two months, I will go down 3 points so I think I'll wait until then. Hopefully the special deal will still be available. Is it possible for a typical dealer to sell 30 G35x in 2 months??? because that's about how much I've seen on their lots arounds here.
  • kudy843kudy843 Member Posts: 26
What will happen to the 2004 G35x that are on the lots when the 05s come out, especially at dealers who have many of them?
  • bobspivybobspivy Member Posts: 14
I'm wondering the same thing myself.

There are a lot of dealers down in the MD/PA/NJ area that have a large number of the G35X on their lot, but they have not been very willing to negotiate. The best I can do is about $300 under invoice. When the rate was 1.9% I had an offer of invoice on a car, so $300 will not make up for the increase in interest rate.

Every dealer has said that the special rates will not come back, but I can't see them selling that many cars at 5% financing, with the 2005's right around the corner. Not that I expect them to come out and tell me the rates are going to get better.
  • wibblewibble Member Posts: 569
If rumours of an 8-10% price increase on the 2005 models turn out to be true then 2004 models at invoice could look attractive.
Also, some areas of the country have next to no G35x models available. They may just get re-distributed.
  • kudy843kudy843 Member Posts: 26
I was also at another dealer here in the Boston area (Kelly Infiniti) and all of their G35 sedans were AWD. It's be really nice if they can discount 1G+ on the 04s when the 05s come out.

Not sure if this is the right forum to post, but wanted some advice on the G35 i just bought.

Two weeks ago I travelled about 100 miles to get the G35 i wanted at the price i wanted. I tried to be sure everything was perfect with the car since I had to travel to get it and knew it would be hard to get the dealer to fix anything after i took possession of the car. I noticed that someone had scuffed one of the rear splash guards (backed into a curb i assume). They reluctantly agreed to take care of that. What i didn't notice is two big scuffs or chunks out of one of the wheels. It does not look like a curb scrape. I don't know how it got there but i know i didn't do it.

I am sure they are going to give me a hard time, b/c i've had the car two weeks, etc. (as a matter of fact they have not even returned my calls for a week now and i haven't even identified the problem). But knowing that i didn't do it and i bought the car this way really pisses me off (both at them for selling the car this way and myself for not noticing it).

Does anyone know what recourse I have if any? Do I need to deal with the far away dealer I bought it from or should I deal with my local dealer? Do they have to replace it or am I screwed? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.

"8-10% price increase"??????? I highly doubt that.
Current Pricing: G35 RWD sedan Leather + prem pkg : MSRP: $34K --> $37k for 2005? That's would be pretty close to M35 pricing. I doubt nissan would do that.
  • wibblewibble Member Posts: 569
They are just rumors but they are floating around. M35 pricing hasn't been set yet so they could push it a little higher.
  • peterdh2000peterdh2000 Member Posts: 54
what i wouldn't do is go into the dealer acting pissed off. speak to the sales manager and perhaps calmly suggest that this damage was done during the same incident as the splash guard damage, and suggest that a show of goodwill on the part of the dealer in repairing/replacing the wheel would go a long way towards you making the journey to have your future services/purchases done at the far dealer.

your local dealer isn't obligated, damage isn't a warranty item. for that matter, the selling dealer isn't really obligated either, as the damage could reasonably have been done in the 2 weeks interim (ie. you couldn't prove by a preponderance of evidence that the dealer damaged your wheel). hence the goodwill approach is likely your best and/or only choice.

    good luck!

I was just wondering if people thought this was a good quote, or do you think I could do better by waiting a little while longer?

    2004 G35X
Premium Package, Splash Guards, Trunk Mat
    MSRP $36,070
    Quote was $32,189.

I thought it was good, but I'm worried that once October hits, the good financing will be reintroduced.

    Thanks
  • wibblewibble Member Posts: 569
The invioce on that car is around $33019. There is $500 daler cash on the G35x at the moment so it looks like they're going well into holdback. What interst rate are you being given at the moment?
  • bobspivybobspivy Member Posts: 14
They offered 4.9% and I said I could do better with my credit union and they came back with 4.25%. I don't want to get the car, and then have the rates drop back to the 1.9%. Nor do I feel like waiting, and then missing out on the color/options I want the most. Every dealer is still claiming that the interest rates "will not" be back.
  • loug35loug35 Member Posts: 15
I have received through the internet manager at a local infiniti dealership a quote for a g35 coupe with leather/auto/premium package/tire-wheel package for $33,310.

I had offered 32k originally but they told me it was $800 under dealer invoice.

Would really appreciate your help on this as I'm really looking to buy it now.

I will be leasing the car and thinking if I should plunk down the $2,500 cap cost to bring my payments down and if I did that should I be asking them to take more off the price they given me? ($33,310). I'm thinking if they want money down then they would need to shave off more off that price. Am I thinking out this process correctly?

    Thanks!

I'm hoping to pull the trigger on an 04 G35x AWD before the end of the month.

In estimating dealer cost, I'm at a loss about holdback. Should I use ~ $900 (which is about 3% of msrp, as mentioned on this board)? Does the dealer get this *regardless* of how long the car has been on his lot? I heard somewhere that after 90 days the dealer gets zero from holdback (??).

    MANY THANKS!
  • wibblewibble Member Posts: 569
The dealers won't know if it's coming back or not. Of course, they'll tell you not because they want to sell you the car!
  • wibblewibble Member Posts: 569
Holdback does indeed disappear after 90 days. It actually decreases over the 90 days until it is gone. My personal opinion that holdback should be off limits. It is to pay for the cost of having the car in stock. Those acres of lot space, kilo-watss of lighting and those big fancy buildings ain't free. My advice would be to shoot for $1000 under invoice but settle for $400 to $500 under.

    what is VPP pricing?
  • chopperzchopperz Member Posts: 6
what would everyone consider a good deal for a 2004 red g35 coupe with cloth? msrp Price: $30,360 live in NJ, but it seems like NY has better pricing? what are the rumors on October as far as financing rates going down and better incentives since the '05's are coming out? thanks for any help!
  • wibblewibble Member Posts: 569
It's special pricing program for employees, and relatives, of Infiniti, Nissan and any companies related to them. Also people who work for their suppliers may also qualify
Weirdly enough, people who work for Nissan and Infiniti dealerships don't qualify!
At the moment incentives on the 2004 cars means you can get a lot better price than VPP anyway. On the 2005 cars, VPP will be worth having.
Check out http://www.insidenissan.com/vpp/nissan/offer.htm for details on how the price is worked out. Typically it comes out to 1% to 2% over invoice.
There is a way for anyone to get VPP pricing on 2005 models. If anyone is interested,e-mail me.
  • denverg35denverg35 Member Posts: 54
thanks---I would be interested in getting VPP pricing on a 2005 g35, otherwise, the discounts on the 2004 models are looking pretty attractive

If you are in the military, you can get any 2005 Infiniti for invoice from Grubbs Infiniti in the
    Dallas Area.
  • ezshift5ezshift5 Member Posts: 858
....extended to military RETIREES the same courtesy.............ez
  • wibblewibble Member Posts: 569
Forgot about that one! I'm trying to persuade them to extend it to British ex-military too!:)

I've read elsewhere that the manufacturer incentive to dealers on 04 leftovers -- called the carryover allowance -- is ~ 5% of msrp.

Does this apply to Infiniti g35x? Should I then subtract 5% of msrp when computing dealer cost, *in addition to* subtracting the current $500 dealer cash for marketing support? Or is this $500 the only thing the Infiniti dealer will get from the manufacturer on leftover 04s?

    MANY THANKS.

Just bought a new 04 G35 sedan leather, automatic with no options except a sunroof for $28k+TLL, that is $1.3K under invoice. Got the car from Grubbs in Dallas, TX. My original quote from VPP was $600 higher. I think the price will continue to drop as 05 models starts to roll in on Nov. Has anybody got a better deal lately?

This car is fast and can really stops!!
  • wibblewibble Member Posts: 569
Good deal! Grubbs is an excellent dealer to do business with (and, no, I've not got any connection to them!).
  • wibblewibble Member Posts: 569
Guilty as charged! Even a G35 can't match a Tornado on full thrust :)
  • bobspivybobspivy Member Posts: 14
I would also like to find out how to get VPP pricing on 2005 models. Thanks.
  • alronalron Member Posts: 13
I bought mine the second month that it was introduced in the market- It was April 19 2002 (The 03 model) and the sales person told me right on front: MSRP take it or leave it! I took it. I thought that after being this model in the market for over two years some hefty discounts could be offered but it has retained its niche
  • wayn0kawayn0ka Member Posts: 1
    Hey all,

Here's an offer that I got from a TN dealer. it seems pretty good:

    6MT w/ Premium package
    $34,185
    60 Months @ 3.94%

Even with this deal, if I financed the whole thing, I'm still looking at payments around $700 a month. I've never had a car note that even approached this amount. I'm having a difficult time signing onto such an obligation despite the fact that I love the car. It's just a mental block. Is any car really worth $700 a month?
  • alronalron Member Posts: 13
There is only one dealer in the Miami metro area and they usually do not give discounts. I believe their competition is in Fort Lauderdale. I could not get a discount but I bought my 03 G35 in April 2002- It was the introduction phase so I did not push hard because since the beginning I was told that they would not negotiate due to the just introduced model and the low inventory

We're trying to buy a G35x AWD with Navigation and premium package. We're being offered $35798 +TT on a car whose MSRP/Invoice are $38470/$35169 by a dealer in Omaha. Without nav here in Denver, we're offered $33500 +TT on a $36010/$32971. Both seem high to me considering what else I'm seeing here. What do you guys think?
  • kudy843kudy843 Member Posts: 26
I was at Quirk Infiniti in Braintree, MA, this past Tuesday and the dealer agree to sell me a G35X with premium for $30,799. Too bad the entire deal didn't go through because we didn't agree on the what they want for my trade-in. If I didn't have a trade-in, I would be driving the new G35x today already.. too bad!!!
  • sammy2sammy2 Member Posts: 7
We bought G35X with premium and Navigation begining of this month for 34,500. MSRP of this vehicle is 38070. We also financed at 1.9% for 36 months. Purchase was made in NJ.

Leased a G35X today with Premium, wood, splash guards, and satellite radio for $30,800. Nothing down but 1st payment & security = $350/mo. for 42 months. Considered TL & Mazda 6. Boston area.
