Wow, that's a hell of a deal. I got the same thing minus the tech package and MSRP on mine is $37400. I got it for $35098, which is exactly $900 over invoice. The tech package is $2K so I don't know where you got your numbers from, but I wish I could have gotten that.
• dceadsdceads Member Posts: 7
The tech package is only 1100. Invoice was 35,292, so it was 528 over invoice. Here is the breakdown from the sticker.

MSRP Base: 32,250
Painted Splash Guards: 140
Tech: 1,100
Premium Pkg: 2,350
Nav: 2,100
Trunk Cargo Net: 50
Destination Charge: 700
• jagguarjagguar Member Posts: 25
Oh, you're right. For some reason I was under the impression that tech was $2000. That's a great deal tho. Only $200 more than what I'm paying to get the tech and splash guards.

I'm planning to commit myself to a G35 coupe (Athens Blue/Ebony interior with 6MT, premium and aero packages along with mud guards and a cargo net). The dealer has come down to $200 over invoice which seems to be an awesome deal..the best part? Very little haggling (<5 minutes), an extremely efficient sales rep and more than a dozen G coupes that were available in all the possible color & package configurations one can think of. He offered the base version (no options) for $100 over invoice. Dealer profit = 1.5% holdback amt+200+499 (doc fee). Their part of the story is that everyone is trying to get rid of G35s since the G37 is coming to lots in Aug/Sept.
Who cares? 38K OTD is all that matters. :)
• jagguarjagguar Member Posts: 25
Just as a note to all, the $500 doc fee is BS. My doc fee is $55. It's a scam they call "not negotiable" so that they can pretend it's not profit. For $55, it wasn't worth arguing. For $500, I would argue. They don't pay their secretaries $500 to file the documents. It's pure profit.
• gforce23gforce23 Member Posts: 12
Yeah, I know that but they simply put pre-printed blank sales sheets with the $500 BS fee. They were ready to negotiate on everything but that fee. At one point, the sales rep actually said that if I could leave if I didn't like the doc fee.
But a 700 profit is okay, I guess.
• sprinkler13sprinkler13 Member Posts: 455
Well...as long as you are happy that is what matters....just don't let them "blind" you by saying you are getting the car for $200 over invoice when that is not the case. Personally...I would push them to go lower and not worry about the pre-printed sales sheets. All the sales sheets start BLANK...THEY put in that number and they can change it too! Besides...I would think that they would be more flexible considering it's a 2007 coupe and the 2008 is right around the corner ;)
• dceadsdceads Member Posts: 7
I think that if they really want to get rid of it they will go a little lower. Unless you really want THIS car, or they give you a really good price, I would consider waiting a couple of months for the new model. 700 over invoice is not a bad deal, but I would think they would go lower considering the new models are right around the corner. They may not be able to take the $500 doc fee off of the invoice, but they can take at least another $500 off of the price.
• gforce23gforce23 Member Posts: 12
Thanks for all the help guys. During the test drive earlier today, I managed to locate the car that I originally wanted (Athens Blue with Graphite interior). Also, I managed to get it down to invoice..can't think of any other dealer who is offering the same rate. Specs are: 6MT, Premium & XM sat. radio (absent on the previous car). The dealer started BSing about this specific color/spec combo being the only new car in the south-east. :)..Anyhow, invoice price+499+T&T seems to be a pretty good rate.

The thing I'm really confused about right now is the G35S sedan and the G35 coupe. I'm getting the sedan to my exact specs at 200 over invoice+400 doc fee while the coupe is at invoice+499 doc fee. Both are absolutely fantastic cars but I really can't choose. Any help with this dilemma?

About the '08 G37, I'm pretty sure the initial batch would sell at MSRP (or close to it). Plus, Nissan shall definitely increase the base price by atleast 1.5-2k..so we're potentially looking at close to 42-43k for a similarly equipped G37.

If anyone out here managed to get their G35 below invoice, I'd be more than willing to take the next flight to that stealership.
• sprinkler13sprinkler13 Member Posts: 455
I wouldn't count on getting below invoice...even on the coupe right now...unless it's a leftover 06 and then you absolutely should be below invoice. As for the difference between the sedan and coupe...that comes down to personal preference. Personally...if the price was the same I would still take the sedan over the coupe...unless we were talking about the new G37...then it'd be tough. I don't know for sure if the interior and electronics are the same in the 2007 Sedan and Coupe, so that could also be a deciding factor. And yes...regarding the 08 you will be looking at a much higher price, but you have to decide how much you are ready to spend...and what you need. It sounds like you really only want the basics so the new design of the 08 coupe might not be worth it for you...especially if you can get a new design sedan (with the same interior) for close to invoice. Either way you won't be disappointed.
• jakbarjakbar Member Posts: 12
well, the 07 coupes do have $1000 in marketing support so in theory, you should be able to get below invoice, right?
• gforce23gforce23 Member Posts: 12
@sprinkler13:
Thanks for the valuable piece of advice. I can't get my mind off the coupe and IMHO, the current gen coupe looks waayy better than the G37. However, the only sore point is the overall feel of the interior. The new gen sedan's interior is probably the best one could ever get in a car. But its exterior doesn't really appeal to me, especially that chrome lip at the back. Also IMO, the only package that really matters is the premium. I have two Garmins at home while the larger wheels come standard on a 6spd. So its basically everything except nav. :)

@jakbar:
The '07 coupes actually have a $1500 cash to dealer incentive right now. The sales rep who was offering the Athens Blue 6MT ain't admitting the discount. Their part of the story is that they aren't participating..yeah right! I'm going to contact the other dealership and try and convince them to match the first dealer's offer on the coupe (along with a cut of the 1500 offer, obviously!). I'm already looking at ordering some Grubbs & Stillen parts later this week! :P
• sprinkler13sprinkler13 Member Posts: 455
Well...that is a different story if they have the dealer incentives (I wasn't aware of them). I would say that Invoice or slightly below is certainly in the ball park since they are still going to make money and if the car is on the lot they get to move it. Good luck with whatever you decide!

Hi there,
I'm new to this message board so this may have already been covered... I'm looking to purchase an '07 G35x with premium, navigation, splash, cargo net, no tech package. I've checked what people are paying in my area - metrowest MA via Edmunds. Dealership offered me $38,000 even. This includes everything tax, title, destination, etc. Is this a good deal? Consumerreports indicates the dealership acquired the car for about $35,500. Thanks.
• scottm123scottm123 Member Posts: 1,501
Invoice would be $35,745 (Including $715- Dest)
That's $37,532.25 after Tax

After Reg/Title fees, your very close to invoice.
Not bad at all.

I just paid $39,000 and change, but my 07x included the Tech.
I'm also in MA, went through Warwick, RI
Very similar deal.

Good Luck!
• gforce23gforce23 Member Posts: 12
Yeah, seems to be in the ball park of some of the better deals out there. I was offered a G35 Sport 6MT w/Premium & Nav, splash guards and cargo net for 39k OTD.
• len00len00 Member Posts: 22
Thanks for the info. Scotm123. I should also have said that the new vehicle also has the rosewood trim. This package deal includes a $25,000 trade in value for my '05 G35x with 8900 miles on it. It's got everything except navigation. I'm wondering if I could negotiate a better deal if I sold my car privately and discussed a new car price without the trade. Any thoughts? Thanks.
• scottm123scottm123 Member Posts: 1,501
Not sure... I found them to be pretty fair on trade-in value.
You'll certainly make a few bucks selling privately, but you need to decide if that is worth the time/energy.

I personally hate selling cars.
I don't interact well with others, and I certainly don't like complete strangers test driving my cars. :(

I also opted for the Rosewood trim.
I love it... Love it, Love it, Love it :D

I watched my Technology DVD, supplied with the car upon delivery, and then went down to the garage and played with all sorts of stuff.
I glanced at the clock and it was past midnight.
I keep this up, and the wife's gonna start getting jealous.

Further U can save money on TAX if u trade in.
• smokey75smokey75 Member Posts: 434
how so?
• thunder10thunder10 Member Posts: 10
As per my understanding
Lets say
New Car $40,000

Trade in Value $25,000

Balance $15,000 So you are only suppose to pay Tax on this amount.

Like most things.. it depends..

Some states don't give a tax break for trade-ins.. (like mine..) ;)

This package deal includes a $25,000 trade in value for my '05 G35x with 8900 miles on it.

I think your trade # is really good. I got 24K for my '05 coupe w/ Premium Pack. and 16K miles, I had a minor accident thought.

I check the dealer website and the lowest price they ASK for an X is 25K w/ 21K miles.
• triple_7triple_7 Member Posts: 63
Contacted the dealer and they gave me a very fair offer. they are a bit of a drive for me but it might be worth it. they didnt seem pushy and justed stated " were here when your ready". other dealers that i had contacted would say that they were not allowed to email or quote a price over the phone and I would have to go in.

I dont think you've gotten your car yet but let me know how your buying experience and delivery is with the dealership. i have bought lots of used cars mainly privite party from friends of friends type deals. This will be my first new car buying experience from a dealer so old dealer tricks and scams will all be new to me. so far they seem very honest and might get my buisness. i just want to make sure that i'm prepared and well informed when ready to PULL THE TRIGGER.
• holla322holla322 Member Posts: 25
how much do you think i can get a 2007 g35x with navi and premium package if i buy two of them?
• bs55bs55 Member Posts: 15
If your going to buy 2 cars from them and giving them all that business with service and buying the car, you should get both of them for invoice with some extra stuff from the dealer.
• jagguarjagguar Member Posts: 25
I can understand a dealer not wanting to quote a price over the phone because it's not in writing and the customer could claim the dealer said anything. But email's a different story. I did talk to a few dealers and I told them to email prices to me. If they don't want to, just tell them that other dealers are emailing you prices and that you're going to buy the car from whichever dealership emails you the best price. You have to make sure they understand that you're taking full advantage of their competition with other dealerships. You're getting several offers and you'll take the best one. You have to be very specific about what options you want though, so that you can compare the price they give you to invoice price.

Thanks for the help. So far it looks like montclair is provivding the best offer. Plan to purchase by the end of this month. Looking for black/ blue slate on graph., prem, nav, and tire pack. undecided on the splash guards. I just hope that when I'm ready I dont have to wait as long as you have. however, mine will not be as unique as yours so I can probably get something off their inventory lot and take delivery in a few days.

Has anyone drove or test drove the Sport and the X and seen or feel a change in the pick up. From the 0 to 60 time?
• smokey75smokey75 Member Posts: 434
Anyone bought a 2007 in Louisville, KY or other dealers in the geographical area?
• scottm123scottm123 Member Posts: 1,501
I know the S model is a little more throttle "touchy", but they 0-60 runs are very close.
The X weighs a little more, but has signifigantly more grip (WOT) off the line, so runs are very close.

I don't know of any dealership that let's people take an X and an S out for 0-60 beat runs though... although my testdrive in the X was very fun. :P

If you're choosing bewteen the X and S and have no worries about winter weather, you'll need to compare more than just 0-60 times.
Do you like the paddle shifts, do you want a 6MT, do you want RWD or AWD, which seats do you prefer, and which ride do you find more comfortable.

Okay, lets get a consensus on what fees dealers charge are legit and which are their typical b/s charges to fatten their own wallets. Here’s what I’ve pulled off this board so far. Would love to get everyone’s input here.

Destination charge - $700
Acquisition fee - $595
Government fees - $114
Document fees - $500
Tag fees - $21
License - $288
Taxes - ???
• sprinkler13sprinkler13 Member Posts: 455
Destination charge is already included in MSRP and Invoice ($700)

Acquisition fee - $595

Doc Fees $45-$100 MAX...anything more is pure padding.

Registration - Varies by state

Taxes - Varies by state. It also depends on if your state requires you to pay for the full amount of the car or just the leased portion of the car.

Misc. fees - Like Tire fee, etc. should be MINIMAL.

Bank Fee - BS...this is another name for the Acquisition Fee. It should be called one or the other and only be $595...no more...no less.

Any other charges are likely BS

i want to get the g35coupe 6mt with the premium package, and auro package. i want to get some ideas what type of price i will be looking at for the car after i negotiate the price. Anyone that can help i would greatly appreciate it, Is $35,000 realistic?
thanks

Destination is included in MSRP. There is no such thing as government or license fees where I live. Everything else other than tag and taxes is dealer profit.

I'm looking into buying a pre-owned g35 coupe. I recently went to the dealer and checked out a black 2005 model with approximately 17000 miles on it. Sticker price says 28150, and "special internet price" was 27750. It seems to be in decent condition with minor wear (including disable passenger power seats) and a musty smell that the dealer said would be taken care of.
I also asked for the reason why on the website the mileage of this car was 14100 yet on the actual car itself was a little more than 17000. The dealer replied that the manager had been using this car personally for his commute to work everyday. 3000 miles?? I'm assuming this car has been available for awhile and am hoping to use that fact for my benefit.

So I really need your help in deciding what to do. It's my first time buying a car and any advice would do. How much should I really pay for the car?
• malumakanmalumakan Member Posts: 16
i dont know what to tell you. car with a disable powerseat. and musty smell and the manager uses for his commute. you better of not getting that car. musty smell means water damage. good luck if you decided to get THAT car.
• thunder10thunder10 Member Posts: 10
What state r u trying to bu this?
• scottm123scottm123 Member Posts: 1,501
Although you are correct about the musty smell being a red flag, it could be nothing as well.
In the G, you have to make a habit of shutting off the AC a few minutes before parking the car.
Otherwise, condensation from the AC builds and causes that musty smell throughout the climate control system.
Shutting the AC off a few minutes early, while leaving the fan running, allows that condensation to dry off before parking the car.
It's a known issue that is easily avoided, if you make the effort.
The dealer most likely never made that effort.

BTW, same thing used to happen with my wife's 00 Accord.
• as0105as0105 Member Posts: 4
I am in NJ. About the musty smell, I think I am just really particular when it comes to things like that, it is really faint, but I figured I would use it to negotiate the price further.

Am I just better off getting a new 07? Are they selling at a lower price these days?

I know that this has been posted numerous of times, but I am currently reside in North Jersey, and looking to purchase (finance) the 07 G35X model with the navi, premium, and wood trim options. I want to know if any one has any insight on which dealers to go to within 50 miles of the north jersey area. So I know what I should be looknig for when it comes to pricing. Thanks.
• g35s3g35s3 Member Posts: 2
It depends on if you are buying in state or out of state. I paid only the doc fees and the destination chg was part of the invoice. The other fees are state license and reg fees (tags, lic, taxes, etc.)
• g35s3g35s3 Member Posts: 2
Interesting. I had communications with the Houston dealership - their internet sales. They were offering $500 under MSRP, so I bought the car (G35S nav, prem) in Santa Barbara. When Houston continued to email me, I told them I already bought and they offered to match the price ($1500 over invoice which was $1700 under MSRP :shades:

HELP! I feel like I am being majorly ripped off but not sure.

Here is what is presented to me and I almost went beserk...

MSRP $41,940.00 G35 Sport Fully loaded all Options(This is exactly what I want)
+ 1,935.00 3 payments to my previous lease with VW
+ 2,850.65 TAX
+ 595.00 Bank Fee

Total Cap = 47,230.65
Residual 53%
3.36 Rate-? I see this on the quote.. but is that my "money factor?"
Term is 42 Months with 15,000 miles / yr
0 Down

Monthly Payment $830.19....

That does not sound right at all. Where I am getting ripped off??? Even if I take the last 3 lease payments out from my VW lease I am still over $800/month.

My MSRP for my VW Passat W8 was 41,000. and I pay 640.00/mo for a 15K /yr 48mo lease....

Why does infinity expect me to pay $200 more for the same priced car??!?! are they on drugs?
• sprinkler13sprinkler13 Member Posts: 455
Check out my response on the Leasing forum.
• as0105as0105 Member Posts: 4
I don't know if the dealer was pulling my leg or not ( I don't know why he would) but he told me that he had 39 coupes in stock and 20 sedans and he was eager to get rid of their overstocked inventory. I was offered about over 5k off MSRP for the 07 coupe:$32000 with premium package.

I don't think i'll be buying the musty used 05 coupe!
• scottm123scottm123 Member Posts: 1,501
The 08 Coupes will be on the lot in a short period of time, so they're getting to the point where the offer mad deals on the 07's
Take advantage of it, and good luck!
• zeongzeong Member Posts: 31
Which Houston Dealership? Thanks in advance.
• triple_7triple_7 Member Posts: 63
So far it looks like $35500 is the price most dealers are willing to quote at with no haggling. this seems like a fair price for a journey, prem, nav, tire package. it's $2000 off MSRP or about $1262 over invoice price with options at invoice.

with a little motivation, should be able to get the dealers down a few hundred to maybe $1000 over invoice.
Is anyone else looking for this car for purchase in the southern california area?? and what has been your experience. other then doc fees at about $55,tax, license, a gov. fee of $8.75, no other fees involved.
seems like a fair deal, what do you guys think.

I am fairly certain I am going to buy an Infiniti in the next couple of weeks. Living in St. Louis I have two choices and wanted to know if anyone has had good success in St. Louis? What does everyone think about my idea to email Chicago dealers and be willing to go there to pick up the car? Also, not certain if I need the AWD or can get by with a Journey. Any thoughts on these big decisions?
