Anyone have a recommendation for a dealer within 100 miles of Pittsburgh? Baierl Acura has about a dozen MDX's on the lot-- half of them '07s-- yet the salesman keeps telling me how great business has been, that he's not allowed to sell an '07 MDX anywhere near invoice, blah, blah, blah....
Considering the recent noise regarding credit tightening and housing downturn, I should think invoice plus $500 is a reasonable offer for any remaining 2007 (I am flexible on color and trim level).
I can pay cash, but I'm sure I qualify for the low financing offers (extended through early October).
I recently bought a Base MDX from Acura of Erie for about $300 over invoice. I moved to Erie, PA from PGH and when I started shopping for an MDX thought the PGH area dealers would be more competitive. None of them were and I tried them all through email contact. It was almost a Joke.
Dealership is very small, but they are easy to deal with and will get you what you want. I liked the Cherry with black interior; they found me one that was slated to be built and rerouted it to their dealership.
You also can try Park in Akron and Acura of Cleveland. I'm pretty sure I could have done better price wise there, but the Erie dealership is under 5 min from my home and was willing to get me the color combo I wanted.
Every dealer in the country will tell you that the doc fee is "Non-negotiable". I always respond: "OK, so lower the price of the car to cover it." They usually respond with nervous laughter...
Thats exactly what I did. I had them lower the price of the car, after negotiating the price, to make up the "everyone gets charged this" document fee.
Thanks for the tip. I know exactly where they are there on Peach St. You did well at $300 over invoice for a Base MDX they didn't even have yet. I checked their inventory and they only have one in stock-- a (2007) Sport/Ent. with MSRP of nearly $51K, which is more than I want to spend, even at invoice. I'm looking for Base or Base w/Tech. I'll check Park & Cleveland dealerships for '07s. Baierl is closest to my home, and only gives service loaner cars if you bought your vehicle there. So I probably won't go to OH just to save a few hundred bucks. But I will for a thousand or two....
My opinion is that you shouldn't have to pay over invoice. Try to get it at least $200 to $300 below invoice and shop around. You could very well save money for a year's insurance for this car.
Checking the inventory in our area (Twin Cities, MN) I see that has dropped to the point where dealers may not be willing to deal like they might have during last month or two. As of today they are not showing any '08's in stock, and there are fewer and fewer '07's left on their lots. Depending on your area, it may make sense to wait until the '08's arrive, then with more inventory you may strike a better deal on an '07 as they become more anxious to clear the remaining inventory out.
2008 MDX's are here in Minnesota. I requested a quote through edmunds. So far White Bear Acura has been most responsive. Without haggling I have been given an internet price of $44795 or Tech/Entertainment package. This price includes the destination charge.
How good is this price? What are people paying in Minnesota and other areas.
Has anyone bought the extended warranty for their MDX? I just bought an MDX w/ Sports & Entertainment pkg and they were offering me extended 7yr/100K for ~$1750. They say if I don't use it, they will return everything, but $50 after its expiration. I refused as I thought I could get a better deal from another place. Now, I'm second guessing my decision. Just curious if anyone bought the extended warranty and what they paid. Also, are there other companies who offer similar coverages at a lower price?
I'm growing extremely frustrated looking for an '07 MDX in Houston. There aren't that many available, none with the color scheme my wife and I are looking for, and apparently demand has picked up now with the introduction of the 2008 models. Only one place is willing to part with a Sport model for anywhere TMV ($42700 with tint), but it has the tacky pinstriping. The closest anyone else is willing to go is $43000. I'm getting frustrated to the point where I may just give up and pay up.
I am looking for a 07/08 MDX Tech in seattle area. So far, I have a quote of $41948 for 07 and $43480 for 08. This pricing includes destination and the protection package. Taxes + Title will be extra.
I would like feedback on prices and if it is worth to get the 08 than 07.
Got 41.5K for the Sport just before the Labor Day weekend. Does anyone know if the money factor has gone up or down on the 07's for Sept.? Curry Acura still doesn't have 08's in stock. I made a deal with the internet mgr. and when I came back to sign papers, they upped the sell price to 42.2K. Since I had another deal waiting at 41.K, I was ready to walk. They were not happy, but agreed to the 41.5 previously agreed upon. I don't like this dealer, two faced salespeople, you're typical car salesman type, but the parts dept. gave mt a great discount on accessories.
I bought a MDX 2 months ago and my wife wants to keep the XM Radio service that expires in 1 month. I just got something in the mail from XM that says 1 year is $151.99.
I had heard before you could get it for $60 / year.
I got it for 9.95 a month, but had to sign up, and pay for, three years. The break point is between 2 and 3 years. Do a long deal, save the money and forget about it for 3 years. It's worth it, because the price will probably go up when XM and Sirus combine. I didn't get the traffic for the extra $4 a month. I found it wasn't worthwhile.
acurasales2, the way this works is that prices are negotiable. Dealer want to sell at the highest possible price, and buyers don't want to pay any more than they have to. They either agree on a price and make a deal, or they don't. Whether vehicles normally sell for MSRP, invoice or even below invoice is driven by supply and demand for each model, and individual negotiating skills.
You knock Chevy (GM) but right now Enclaves, Arcadias, and Outlooks are selling closer to MSRP than are MDX's - go figure.
Congratulations yajiv. Did they actually have the 08 on the lot to sell to you, or did you buy from order form? I think you did well. TMV for '07's is 40,700, and you will benefit from residual value. Also you get the auto day/night mirror thrown in (about $200).
Has anyone bought the extended warranty on MDX? If so, how much did you pay? I turned down the ~$1,800 7yr/100k warranty the dealer was offering when I purchased my vehicle. I assume I can get a better deal from outside. I'm looking for a zero deductible, 7yr/100k bumper-to-bumper warranty.
clothes guy, I am looking to buy 2007 Acura MDX in Chicagoland. The information that you have posted is very useful.
Since this is the first time that I am buing a car in the US I would like to ask about doc, title & license fees
- doc fee $69 - license plate transfer $80 - does that assume that you have traded in your old car and moved the license plate to the new one? In case that this is not trade-in would this fee increase?
How much have folks paid relative to invoice for an '07 or '08 Acura MDX with Tech/Entertainment? Have you negotiated over the internet or gone in person? Which dealership? Thanks in advance!
Do not go Acura of Bellvue they changed the offer during the deal. When to Hinshaw Acura payed $39.200 for a base 2007 MDX I like Hinshaw Acura they are good pepole.
We just put a deposit on the 2008 Base MDX for $900 over Invoice, in Manhattan. OTD price was $42,195 (including NY Tax!). Included Roof Rails, All-Weather Mats, and Cargo Net. We ordered off the List that was being shipped to the Dealer (VIN#). Delivery is 2-5 days from now.
I am also in Portland, OR area and want to buy 08 base model as I have nuvi370 GPS and do not want double GPS. Will you share who has best prices around here and pls share the details of your deal. Thanks
Go to Acura of Peoria. They gave me the best price at that time and also great service. I bought the 07 MDX with Tech & Ent package for 47250 (OTD) in June 07. I'm sure you can get a better price now.
Parigeet, Thanks much for the recommendation and info. I am probably going to shoot for a 2.9% on a 2007 or possibly lease a 2007 tech/entertainment MDX....
As a follow-up, I'm in San Diego but thought I'd get started with an internet offer from L.A. (Planet Acura in Downey -- popular among this forum). Here's what I got:
"YOUR PRICE ON THE SPORT MODEL IS $41,800+FEES. YOUR PRICE ON THE SPORT ENTERTAINMENT IS $43,500+FEES. LET ME KNOW HOW I CAN HELP."
Seems like a decent starting point.
This is unrelated but funny. I went to a dealer in San Diego yesterday, and got a follow-up call from some a phone-monkey today. I told him I was interested in the '07 but had been given a brochure for the '08, which I just realized. He said not to worry, as the only difference between the two is that the '08 is a foot shorter in length.
Any idea why they made it higher? I wonder if that will effect handling. That's a lot of weight to raise up. I think it's high enough, and face it, we aren't exactly taking the thing off road. Just curious if anyone knows.
(Don't you wish that there would be an Acura guy monitoring this and answering some of these questions??)

Anyone re-up XM lately and get a great deal?

Thank you.
Can you tell me who you worked with at Acura of Lynnwood? I'm in Portland but would buy from the Seattle area if the price was right.

Seriously though, I don't think the'08 is a foot shorter.
