I may stop by Carland if Jackson doesn't work out.

Does anyone know differences between 2007 and 2008 MDXs? I know about dimming rear view mirror, compass, info display color (orange vs blue), navigation voice. Sons Acura seems to have tons of 2007 MDXs.

Which SoCal dealer is offering you that cap. cost?
  • u045777u045777 Member Posts: 33
Best quote I received here in So CAL is $43,100 including destination (plus tax lic dmv fees). It seems the Tech package is overstocked and much easier to get a good deal on, but the Tech with Ent package seems to be in much shorter supply. Anyone getting better deal on tech + ent??? thanks!

Did you buy a car from carland? If so, initials of the salesman would be very helpful.
  • cason1cason1 Member Posts: 65
I did. My salesman's initials are BK.

I posted my deal back around the first of the month if you want to look for it. I did have a trade (which I think I included in the post), so take that into account.
  • pvd77pvd77 Member Posts: 11
    Hi,
Anybody who has info on what kind of deals/price you folks in southern California had lately? If it is a good deal, can you pls give dealer name. Also, is tech pkg worth it - $3,500 more
  • longtxlongtx Member Posts: 11
cason1, did your car have protection package, body side molding? Also, there is no BK on carland website.
  • cason1cason1 Member Posts: 65
It had all weather mats...no rear cargo mat...and no body side molding. You are correct that BK is not on the website. I found that out for myself when I was trying to get the correct spelling of his name when I was responding to Acura's rather detailed Customer Service Survey. Try calling.

I am also interested to find out who BK at Carland is. :shades:

    H Manky23 -

I'm also looking to pick up this car from Stevens Creek... would you mind shooting me the details of your purchase. How did you go about getting them to give 1K under invoice? Wondering the best strategy.Thanks.
  • frank110frank110 Member Posts: 1
    Hi Manky23,

Stevens Creek recently quoted me $40K for the Tech package and $43.7K out the door pricing. Did your purchase include any extras (roof rack, cargo tray etc...)? I'm trying to get them to include the roof rack and cargo tray but they're not willing to do that (yet).

Would also be interested in the details of your purchase - thanks.
  • pvd77pvd77 Member Posts: 11
So this capcost is like the purchase price? And that is how much they are gving you the MDX Tech pkg This sounds a good deal. Can you pls tell me which dealer(s) are giving you this $39,750 and salesman name via email to me.
Also, look at the Car and Driver May 2007 article on their comparison of these $50k suvs. It might help you decide.

    Thanks.

Anyone think 09 mdx diesel is worth waiting for? It should have at least 20% better mileage than the gas counterpart and insane amount of torque. I am hoping Acura will also introduce 6 spd auto with the diesel.
  • stevemc2stevemc2 Member Posts: 4
Probably not worth the wait. In Washington DC, the cost of diesel fuel is $.50 per gallon more expensive so the 20% better gas mileage might be a wash.
  • rgustafsrgustafs Member Posts: 35
I am scouring the Mid-Atlantic and all the way over to Texas for a low mileage Certified 07 MDX with the tech package. I currently have a 05 Honda Pilot, and I am ready to step it up. I don't want to pay through the nose though. Is that too much to ask?

Anyone have a good dealership to suggest? Or should I be looking elsewhere?
  • texaserictexaseric Member Posts: 4
Wow, Maverick27. Where in Texas are you getting that price. I would gladly contact that dealer!

I received quotes in the chicago area range from 37700 to 37800 and I was negotiating to get it around 37000 and they would not budge. May be I will wait until the month end for better prices to go down

Anyone in the Chicago area got better quotes

    Thanks :(
  • texaserictexaseric Member Posts: 4
I saw a bunch of low mileage (6K) CPO 08 Techs at David McDavid in Plano (DFW), TX. Make sure you do your research first. When you start to negotiate, they whine and tell you they can't go below some fictitious number and then claim there are very few of what you are looking for, so its worth more. Its a pain enough negotiating with a dealer, but add the whining and its worse than a 5 year old.

What's more important, price or service?
  • iceman3737iceman3737 Member Posts: 1
Hey all, I'm curious how accessory prices work. Like say I want to get an item like the Running Boards for the MDX. These are MSRP $591. Certain accessory options will obviously be more labor intensive than others, with the running boards being one of the more time-consuming ones. What should I try and negotiate this item down to as a for instance for the cost of the item and dealer installation?
  • akubikakubik Member Posts: 20
Paid $37.5k for a black on black base w/ protection package at Ball Acura at the Mile of Cars in SOuth San Diego.. MSRP was $41k. Tech package is probably only worth it if you travel for work, maybe you can even write-off the cost that way if you accountant is good. Think about it, you are going to pay $3500 for a 7" screen in your car? You can buy a 60" 1080i HD TV for you house with that money. You can't even watch the screen if you are the driver. If you are a realtor of salesman, go for it, otherwise, think opportunity cost. The base stereo pounds hard enough, the whole car vibrates with the subwoofer.

The base it tech enough. You can customize the interior light, how long it says one, how often to reset you tripometer, you XM stations, your treble, base, sub, center speakers, fader and balance, mirrors, and seat to each key. It would be great if the back-up camera were standard, but I think you have to shell out for the DVD system to get that. They kind of get yo that way.

Acura of Riverside was willing to sell me a new 2007 base for $35,112, but I couldn't sell my Jeep in time and missed out. I don't think there are any new 07s left out there.
  • longtxlongtx Member Posts: 11
I had the same question. I was told from a salesman that 15% off from parts and labor is what the dealers pay. I didn't believe that. But if you get a good price on the car, dealers seems to be hesitant to give anything more than 6~8%.

Anyone think that Acura will go lower interest rate (currently 2.9%) since Fed lowered the rate?

I just picked up my 2008 Acura MDX with Tech and Entertainment for $42,485 + TTL and no dealer prep, admin, or other fees. $42,485 + ONLY TTL.

I shopped a couple of the Northern VA dealers via e-mail, and ended up with this price pretty quickly.

    Black on Taupe.

I just bought an MDX in Los Gatos. Sunnyvale Acura quoted (via Internet) 40,379 incl destination. I emailed Los Gatos Acura and asked them if they would match the price (their quote was higher). I really wanted to do business there since it's closer to home and told them that too. She (Internet Mgr) worked with her manager and matched the price. I was really happy. The only things we paid extra for was Gap Insurance and a inside/outside protection package (I have kids, backpacks, they have gotten sick in the car....).

Xier & Manky23 - I just received an internet quote for the MDX Tech from the Acura on Steven's Creek for $ 39,752.00 which includes destination. Don't know if you went there yet.

After 1 week of negotiation and many many phone calls. Here are some lessons learned.
If you're looking for a 2008 MDX in Atlanta, go to Carland especially if you are out of State. Carland does not charge $600 document fees.
Easy to negotiate, but most importantly, I felt like internet sales manager was very honest and informative. Plus best pricing! You can negotiate 1~200 dollars off from internet quotes. Look for the internet sales manager, not a salesman.

Car prices are usually few hundred dollars lower at the end of the month. So if you are thinking about purchasing buy this week or end of February.

I am grilling up a deal in Jackson Acura but we are going back and forth about accessories price. It's a headache, but I might get a deal few dollars lower than Carland. But if this doesn't work out, I'm calling Carland right away.

Jim, which dealer did you deal with in NoVa? Who did you buy from? I am about to pull the trigger on the same package, maybe waiting to see next month's financing rates.

    Thanks
    Matt
  • agt2046agt2046 Member Posts: 16
What trim are you getting? I am hoping to buy it at end of Feb and hopefully the prices and rates will be lower by then. Plz let me know which dealer you end up getting the deal from and the final price.
  • mtairyordgemtairyordge Member Posts: 144
I find my self in the same boat. Dealers in Md area are at 43100 with just TTL to add on. I would like to see the rates come down some on a 60 month term.

Have you been able to get dealers to budge on the accessories?
  • mtairyordgemtairyordge Member Posts: 144
Seems as though I remember a site here for Acura accessories much cheaper than dealers. Okay that is not saying much. Problem is I can't find it again. Anyone know what it was?

I found an interest rate 5% for 70 months. If you have US Navy/Marine corp connections youcan get this also.

You may be talking about either "www.hondaacuraworld.com" or "www.handa-accessories.com". Those two site have the best prices I have found.
  • mtairyordgemtairyordge Member Posts: 144
Yes thanks, I did a google search and found them. Seems as though the dealer markd the accessories up anywhere from 19 to almost 24 %. Well there SHOULD be room for negotiation.

shoot me an email at longtx@carspace.com. I don't like giving out the details.

Once again, people in Alabama, buy Acura in Atlanta (carland, jackson or nalley, all, same price eventually, not initially). I saved $3000.

    Hello

I am in the market for a 2008 MDX Tech w/DVD. Just curious what kind a deals folks are seeing in Northern/Southern California? As per MSN Autos (Edmunds does not have the invoice prices) the Invoice prices are:

    Invoice MSRP

    Base Price $41,683 $45,895
    Destination Charge $715 $715
    Total* $42,398 $46,610

Ofcourse no DIO (dealer installed options) like wheel locks, side moldings, AW Mats etc are included

Will appreciate any help in this matter.

I am ready to go down to So. Cal to get the car if the price is right. I live in Nor. Cal (SFO bay Area)
  • xierxier Member Posts: 99
Smoss - Can you list the details of your deal? I'd be happy to purchase at any NCAL dealers.

I helped a friend pick up a MDX Tech 08 - actually they are picking it up Today (had to order it before the Holiday's). Unfortunately they live in a town that has only 1 Acura dealer - and next closest is 6+ hours away. They got the Tech for 1K over Invoice and paid retail for accessories (mats, sport running boards, side moldings) but free installation. I'll post the exact numbers when they arrive.

    Matt,

I worked with Omar at Pohanka Acura. Shoot me an e-mail at jhouchens@trioh.com and I'll provide you his e-mail. I worked a price between them and Radley, and Pohanka has been great to work with. It only took a copule of e-mails and I 'think' I got a pretty fair deal.

I made the deal at David McDavid Acura in Plano. The initial quote from the internet request was 1500 off MSRP. However, I decided to contact a salesman that was mentioned in a previous post (initials TS). His quote was 38000 for a base MDX with 495 for body side molding and 995 for sport running boards. After a few days, he called and I made an offer that was accepted.

Hopefully, you can benefit from my experience and get a better deal. If you want accessories make sure you include them in your offer. Try starting at list price or lower before including any additional money in your offer; I failed to do this. Also, I failed to read the fine print on the retail order. There was a charge of 65.99 labelled Dealer Inventory Tax. According to the fine print, this is a tax for the dealer and not for the consumer. So, look out for this and decline to pay it.

Also, if you make a deal with other dealers, make sure you know the cost of the documentation fee. McDavid charges $55. I have seen posts that indicate the cost from other local dealers is $150. This is another way the dealers add to the cost on the back end.
