I am looking to buy an MDX just north of New York City. I was wondering what people were paying for a 2008 MDX with the tech and entertainment package. The MSRP is around $46k. Consumer Reports bottom line price for the dealer is $40k, so dealer probably willing to accept something in the $43k range. Edmunds estimates the paid price at around $44k. Does this sound right? Thanks.

Thank you for the information. I spent more time test driving and I am going to get the MDX without Spport. Any help on what I can get for a good price in Tampa would be great.

I received a quote for a base MDX from Vandergriff for $37K + TTL. This is the result of about an hour's worth of counteroffering. The problem with Vandergriff is that they equip ALL of their cars with all these dealer addons STANDARD: Lo jack, splash/locks/cargo protector, tinting. The one I was negotiating on (fortunately) had no Lo Jack and had the rest of the add ons.

How is $37K for a base MDX? Is there room for additional discounts?

Buy from Portland. I bought it from here at good price. Contact me at technocrat@live.com if you need any help.

I bought on LI at I think 43.2 for tech and ent back in mid-October, about 800 over invoice, which was quite fair at that time. If you try NJ, will pay less. Westchester wouldn't meet that at that time, nor would Manhattan but I think this time of year, things are a lot more competitive.
  • ewoodworewoodwor Member Posts: 5
Thanks. That sounds about right. Did you add any accessories to the tech and ent package that were included in the $43.2k price?
  • bill124bill124 Member Posts: 246
Nothing extra and that price took a few weeks to get to in the face of others posting about invoice pricing or 250 over. I just got tired of dealing with these guys and didn't want to drive to NJ and risk getting hung up when I got there (and wasting all that time). Probably wouldn't have happened but it all depends on how much time you want to put into saving a few hundred bucks on what will be 45K after our wonderful NY sales tax.

I m buying Acura MDX with tech package for invoice tomorrow from a North NJ dealership. It will be 40403+tax+title+registration. The dealers in Manhattan ( that is where I live) would not go below 41250+ tax etc.

    Cheers

Interesting that Manhattan has maintained its pricing in the face of losing sales like yours and mine to others. I guess they have a limited supply and know they'll sell to people that don't spend the time to research. I had a call from sales mgr in Westchester saying that if I could pay cash for this car that I could afford to let them earn something on the deal, which was either the 800 or more than the 800 I was willing to let them get. Why would I travel to Westchester when I could get the same deal closer to my home ?
  • ewoodworewoodwor Member Posts: 5
Thanks for the info, if I add in the entertainment package to your price would come in $2k higher so again sounds like some where around $43-43.5k is a good price before the additional accessories I would like to add.

What prices have you paid for a 2008 MDX with Tech/Ent in So.Cal? :confuse:
Thanks to everyone in this forum for all the info.

We came very close to buying an MDX. Very impressed with the car.

I wanted to recommend Shane at Acura of Portland. He is in their internet department and had a quote to me within minutes. He also answered questions and was very responsive.

The quote was for an MDX + Tech + NW Protection Package (All Season Floormats, Wheel Locks, and a Cargo Tray) + Roof Rails. $42,675. Very solid quote.

I just got a quote for a 2008 tech with entertainment at $41,483 plus tax tags and fees. I am trying to find out if this includes the destination which I don't think so. I think invoice on the car is 41,683 so this is 200 under invoice with just one email. wonder how much more I can get off this car...this is criswell acura in annapolis which is very far for a northern va resident...

Just thought I'd let everyone know how we did. Thanks for the help mdxbound!

We bought the pearl white Tech with Ent. package from Goodson's internet manager on 12/26/07. Ours has the front tint, wheel locks, cargo cover, cargo liner (probably a mistake, this things ugly but it does cover everything!), cargo net, and body side moldings. I was firm at 43,200+TTL for a looooonnnnng time but eventually caved and gave $43,450 + ttl. I figured my time not going elsewhere was worth the $250. I do feel they would have taken the 43,200 though if I had walked. I think the deal was reasonable but could have been better. Any other thoughts? or questions?

On a good note they gave us $1500 more on our trade then Carmax offered. I found this strange but who's complaining. Carmax did way under offer on our car though.

    Thanks for paying one forward!!

I had really good results at Lynwood Acura getting a Tech model. We called down to Dick Hannah in Portland and they were not able to do any better than the deal we got in Lynnwood. Feel free to e-mail me, rglasser AT gmail.com if you want all the detail.

    Manky23,

Are you in the SF area? What dealer did you go to?
  • mdxboundmdxbound Member Posts: 7
Congrats Osteoman2! You were probably there when we were taking delivery of our car on the 26th! Price sounds good - you got a few less things than we got so it's good the price went lower than the $43,900 we paid. On our trade in- first, the dealers used car guy quoted this horrendously low price. Then he picked up the phone and called his "wholesaler" who was $2500 more than the dealer. We still didn't like the price so they told us to go to Carmax. We did the next morning...carmax was $1000 lower than the "wholesaler" price. So, we went back to Goodson and sold it through the dealer to some wholesaler. Who knows how that all works but it was still too low for my taste but it's over and done with. WE ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE MDX! I mean LOVE IT! It is one sweet car! There's a lot of bells and whistles and we are still learning them all and that will take a long time to really get it down. Did you get your headphones? We didn't get our headphones...have to call them on that! Congrats to you and thanks for the recognition! Glad to help. :D

    vnh,

Can you tell me what dealer in Sacramento area you went to and who your sales guy was? Was it Elk Grove or Niello? I just purchased a 08 TL from Niello and the wife is not interested in a MDX. THanks.
  • mdxboundmdxbound Member Posts: 7
That's a great price your are getting. In TX the lowest we got to was $42,506 (including destination) before we added options. So, that $41,483 is a good price for the Tech/Ent package. Go for it!
  • osteoman2osteoman2 Member Posts: 26
I to a degree based my final offer on what you paid and what you had added. The running boards being the most pricey of the add ons.(which you have and we don't) Considering the different add ons I believe our actual price was basically identical to yours.

Also check the rear compartment below the back storage area for your headsets. They should be in there by default.

We are also loving the ride, well my wife is, she's not letting me drive it.

Oh well guess I'll have to get an RL. :)
  • born2driftborn2drift Member Posts: 3
Thanks for the info. I will go there tomorrow and see what I can get. Hopefully it's around 43.5k and not 44k. But now wife is having second thoughts on MDX vs TL. I am gonna be happy either way. :)

If you are looking for an Acura in central Florida I reccommend Regal Acura in Lakeland. I searched for the best price via on-line quotes. They were straight forward, showed all fees in plain English and had best price with out any run around. I did have to deal with a couple bait and switch dealerships or hidden fee issues with other dealers. Not at Regal Acura!!!
  • crvexl4wdcrvexl4wd Member Posts: 35
If you have not bought yet, contact me at technocrat@live.com, I also bought from them. You could have more options in that price.

I went to Autowest Acura of Stevens creek in Santa Clara, CA. You can talk to any sales guy and should be able to get this deal. Or you may talk to Ben. Good Luck.

    Hello dachou

Where/who did you get this price from? Great price! Thanks!
  • bbccbbcc Member Posts: 2
    hi soylentgreen:

Good price. I've been negotating with dealers in Calif and Colo, and $37k is better than my lowest $37,399 (includes cargo mat, floor mats, door locks). The dealer/documentation charges are soft, and don't let them add on much, if any.

    Good luck!

Had a decent deal for 08 MDX w/Tech ($40,902 - $44,631 out the door). No dealer options on Aspen White w/parchment int. Dealer tried to low ball my 04 Base MDX trade in. Knew what value KBB and Edmunds trade in value was, but they offered me ~ $4500 less than fair trade in value. Sales Mgr kept telling me that, according to Edmunds, people are paying $44,188 for this vehicle and they couldn't sell the car for $500 over invoice and give me $16k for my trade in. I told him nobody pays MSRP for a vehicle unless it is in demand, which the MDX is not (they had plenty on the lot), or anywhere close to MSRP. I asked him if I didn't have a trade-in, would he then tell me the price for the car is now $44,188? I told him the "S" stands for "suggested". If Acura dealers are going to act like American car dealers, I may as well buy an American car, that way I know not to expect much in trade in.

Has anyone recently purchased an '08 MDX Tech/Ent in MA or NH? I was quoted 44,846 out the door, which included sport running boards, roof rails, cross bars, side body molding, wheel locks. Thanks.

After dreaming of buying the MDX for about a year, I finally took the plunge. I bought a certified 2007 Tech/Ent that was used as a service vehicle by the dealer. It has 12,500 miles. We paid $38,400 +TTL - actually it was $39,183 +TTL after I added sport running boards and cargo cover. We also got the powertrain wraparound with no dedcutible to 100,000 miles for $1,595. My husband has buyer's remorse (he has it with ALL purchases - big and small). Please give me some feedback on the prices we paid for the car and the wraparound warranty. I want to ease his concerns!

    Do you love the car?
Did you think it was good deal when you left the dealer?
Did you enjoy driving it home?
Do you enjoy driving it around?

Someone else will always get a better deal. Don't think about it, enjoy it. You bought a great car. If you got a good deal, great deal, or bad deal; its yours now. Just enjoy it!

Made a purchase of a 2008 MDX Tech in the Atlanta area on December 29th. Nimbus Gray with Ebony interior, no additional accessories other than all-weather mats. Price was $40,783 including destination, and GA Lemon Law fee ($3) with no doc fees (dealership does not charge doc fees if you area from out of state...I am in the Birmingham, AL area) and not including tax and title which I will pay when I transfer my tag. Additionally, the dealership gave me a very strong deal on trade for my 2001 MDX Touring with 106,000 miles...$10,200.

This was my first "long" distance auto purchase. All in all, this was the easiest purchase I have ever made. Did most of the deal by e-mail and phone, drove over and arrived around lunch time and was home for dinner.

anyone seeing under invoice in the DC Area? So far i have seen only invoice on the tech package, seems dealers should be desperate as sales last month were down alot. I was told by the dealer that special financing was still available.

I will be looking to purchase an MDX around April. It will be a Sport/Ent model. There are three dealers near me, being Acura of Peabody, Sunnyside Acura and Acura of Boston. Has anybody worked with one or more of the dealerships? If so what has been your experience?

The MSRP for this model is $48,710 with an invoice price of $44,302. My goal is to be able to buy this for $300 to $500 over invoice. Is this reasonable? I do not have a pulse on the current market conditions (supply/demand).

Which dealership in atlanta did you buy the car from? I am hoping to buy mine around end of Feb.
  • cason1cason1 Member Posts: 65
Acura Carland in Deluth. Nalley was competitive too and finally said they would beat Carland "by a few dollars" just to getthe deal, but Carland had worked too hard to earn my business for me to switch for a few dollars savings late in negotiations. I shopped in Birmingham, Huntsville, Montgomery, Chattanooga and Atlanta and the two dealerships mentioned above were way below any other dealerships.
  • clemboclembo Member Posts: 253
You should be fine. I just got a 2008 Sport in Auburn in Dec for 1% ($400) over invoice. I made them an offer on the accessories which basically amounted to the regular list price without any charge for installation. They agreed, as did another dealer but I didn't like them as much.

I'm sure I could have haggled for more but I thought the deal was good.
  • agt2046agt2046 Member Posts: 16
who was your sales person at Acura Carland? Maybe I will just go ask the guy to get the same deal to save some hassle. thx ;)

I am buying 2004/2005 Acura MDX and living in North Carolina. Some of my friends said that buying MDX in Texas and Florida will be cheap, is it true, if yes any idea how much I can save?

I purchased my MDX from Island Acura, Wantagh, NY; the price was $400.00 over invoice
Total price was $40,800.00 plus tax. I purchased in early December. The car has plenty of power and excellent handling.
If you call Island Acura deal with James. He is upfront and reliable and honest. I would definitely buy another car from him.
The gas mileage is about 14.5 straight city, city/freeway 17. I haven’t had the car on a straight freeway trip yet
I am using premium fuel and recommend it.

I am in look out to buy a 2008 MDX with Tech and Entertainement pkg in next week or 2

    Couple of things:
    A) Please advise if its ok to go upto $400-$500 above invoice price or that can be negotiated harder especially with the economy slowing down a bit. Currently the quotes I got (via email) are ~1300 over the Invoice price.

    B) wanted to share info abt the feedback I have on sport pkg from talking to 3 dealers::: was surprised to hear from all that the spork pkg is not going that well and hence none of them have them in their lots.. I asked for reasons and the consistent feedback was that most of the customers are thinking hard to spend an extra 2K for sport suspension which comes to real use when the vehicle is pushed harder than the normal.... this is great for sporty drivers!!

Looking forward for comments on pricing and if "documentation" fee is something that can be negotiated as that seemed pretty high ~$600..

Just bought a black on black MDX at Ball Acura at the Mile of Cars in South San Diego. I wanted an 07, b/c it was the same car, but selling for $35,000 according to Edmunds, but there weren't any left in SoCal. Go for an 07 if you can find one. The only difference is the rear-view mirror.

This was close to the best deal I could find in Southern California. It has a couple of add ons - mud guards and wheel locks - they call it a "protection package". I call it [non-permissible content removed] profit. But that's the game.

Before going to the dealership I specifically asked whether there were any fees other than TTL, and dealer replied "no" in an email. As we were going through the paperwork, they itemized a $55 Documentation fee in the sales contract. I pulled out my email, and had them lower the car price by $55. (It's principle, and half a tank of gas :) They said they still had to show a doc fee on the sales contract, and that lowering the car price was the only way to honor their email. Fine with me (it's probably for tax purposes). You guys on the East coast have some serious doc fees ($600 wow!).

Overall I'm excited, couldn't even sleep last night. It's like being a kid again. I guess that's why we do it - keep buying toys- ah, consumerism.

It was a stress free experience, probably b/c I knew the price going in, and had sold my car beforehand, instead of trading it in. BTW - try selling your car first, it makes all the difference. We saved 50% of the value. Dealers wanted to give us $5-6K for a 2002 Jeep - we sold it on craigslist.org for $8750 - private party retail value on KBB. It took 2 weeks, and one mechanic inspection. Well worth the leg work - hell, that's probably my bonus after taxes - for which I have to work all year.

We decided against the NAV - I figure for the same money I can put a 50" Pioneer HD plasma in my master bedroom, instead of a 7" screen in my car.

Overall, the MDX is great value for the money. I you add all the standard features on an MDX to a Highlander or Murano, you are in the same price range, and still some features are unavailable - i.e. HID lamps and memory seats on the highlander, 7 passenger on the Murano.
  • gbredagbreda Member Posts: 11
I have just purchased a Black 05 MDX Touring w Nav. with 32,000 miles on it. During the negotiations, I had the dealer add a chrome side step and rear spoiler. At this time, I am considering a few other additions and want to know if I am getting reasonable pricing.

    Side Body Moldings: 309.00
Tow Package including steering/trans cooling systems: 989.00

Finally, has anyone heard or or used Zurik for an extended warranty. The MDX was purchased at an Acura dealer and is Certified. I am ok with spending a few dollars for peace of mind through 7 Years/100,000 miles. The price quoted is $1053.00 for a comprehensive coverage that covers what the 7/100 Acura powertrain does not.

    Thanks

Thanks a lot for the note.. $55 doc fee to $600.. WOW!!!! I need to check this up more closely..and the suggestion of haivng an e-mail to confirm the costs is great as well.. can aviod the pressure techniques sales folks use when in person! Thanks once again
  • chrism124chrism124 Member Posts: 134
I just purchased a 08 MDX with the Sport & Entertainment packages. The purchase price is $45k. This does not include add-ons (such as roof rails, side moldings, etc). I will be jumping off the leasing merry-go-round and will try to keep the MDX for the next 5-7 years.

I may have been able to get another $200 off but I thought that it was fair enough for both sides.

    NHman
