So, it looks like you got the car for $1000 below cost?
Acura of Portland started off with a high price (~35+), but came down to $34,475, which is 313 over cost (33,812 + 350 for protection + 313 profit). Based on your deal, I think there is room to negoitate more.
Would you agree? Also, they are not offering to drive it up to Seattle.
As with most dealers, timing is everything. I got a strong feeling Acura of Portland wanted to unload that car. I originally didn't want the running boards or the mats/locks and told them I'd wait for what I wanted, whether it was from a Seattle area dealer or somewhere else (like Portland). My tactic was to be pigheaded and offer a non-negotiable price and wait to see the first one that bites. If they didn't have exactly what I wanted, then the extras would have to be very close to free or there's no deal. If you have patience, it can pay out for you too, but I shopped for 3+ months to get the deal I wanted. But I could afford to wait. I already have a car that's running fine but was ready to upgrade to the MDX if the price was right. I plan to use my current old car as a communter car until I can unload it myself via a classified ad ... besides, the MDX gas mileage sucks compared with my old car and we all know about the high price of gas these days.
I am living in Houston, and want to buy my first MDX w/Nav. I have gotten a quota from internet salesman for $40,149. I read some messages here. Seems we can get it at $39,000 to $40,000. Thanks for anybody's comments about it. I also want to get recommendations for dealers or sales persons. Thanks in advance.
according to my model I paid 41,961. That includes DVD. Did yours at 506 include dvd or just naviagation? Please tell me just navigation. The weird thing is their contract ended up saying I paid 42,359. Course what I really care about is the lease price which was 595 including tax. I'm not going to buy at the end of the lease so I don't care about residual value. Also, my drive off was 1800 - NY has a bank fee of 1095. Did CT?. Anyway, it seems NY area dealers weren't dealing as much as CT, but I was just trying to figure out by how much I overpaid. Thanks.
I AM OFFERED A FINAL PRICE ON MDX BASE MODEL OF $ 33931 PLUS TAX ( 2926.55 )AND DMV ( $185 ) FOR A TOTAL OF $ 37,042.55. OUT OF DOOR PRICE. IS IT A GOOD PRICE. ANY ADVISE IS WELCOME. THANX. KUMAR, RAJ

I just put a down payment on the same model you are looking for at the dealership in Eugene, Oregon. I emailed all of the dealers in the Seattle/NWOregon area. Portland and Eugene were the best offers I got, and they were both honest and straightforward. The other guy that replied to your email is right about Bellevue. Their $500 over invoice was actually $1000 over true invoice.
Eugene ended up giving us a final price of $34,395.50 on the base model which includes a roof rack and installation. That is $300 over invoice. I think Portland had offered $650 over invoice-really nice guys. The guy in Eugene even searched the whole West Coast for the Aspen White we want. It comes in July. I found that a lot of the dealers in the Seattle area were really impressed at the price I got, but not able to beat it. We were just looking for the best deal and don't mind the drive. Good luck and let me know if you want more info!
Congrats, How did you get this price? The invoice seems like to be around $39600. Also can you please let us know what was the acutal MSRP of your MDX. Thankyou Krystal
Like many did in this forum, I emailed almost all the dealers in my area and I took the lowest quote to Keyes Acura. Keyes said they would beat or match anyone's price but they only give you exact quote when I visit them.
I am not sure about the MSRP, but the invoice should be around $40180 including dest. fee. Yes I got about $1380 under invoice. good luck.
Thank you for all of the participation in this forum. It has already been very helpful. I live in Southern California and I am close to leasing a 2005 MDX Touring w/Navigation.
The best quote I have received thus far is $2500 drive off and 499/month tax included for 36 months, 12k miles.
Do you think I could do better and if so how much better?
I am getting ready to purchase an 05 MDX Touring model, leaning towards black. I have done my research on Edmunds, but I wanted to know if anyone has recently bought this car in NJ---I recieved an e-mail quote from Clinton Acura of $37,000 for the Touring (before tax and fees), but I was wondering if I should be able to negotiate more around or below the invoice cost (which I believe is around $36,300). I am also going to check out the Bridgewater Acura dealer as well. Can anyone tell me what they have bought this MDX for lately in NJ? Any advice is appreciated (and I am so excited to buy this car I can hardly wait---i love it!)
Thanks much for your post. I am still in the market and I'll add Eugene to my list. I have one question: Did you try going lower than invoice? I see a lot of posts here where people have got it way below invoice (The Keyes dealership in LA, for e.g.).
I think it is a good deal since I received a quote of $38, 800 from BRW Acura for a touring with Nav. Where did you got the quote from and have you got even better offer? Would you please let me know? Thanks.
I am in the market for an '05 MDX (Touring w/o Nav & DVD) in early July. Has anyone been able to get invoice in Alabama. Will be living in Montgomery but will be traveling to get there so could buy it along the way (in Nashville too). Has anyone had good or bad experiences with the Montgomery Acura Dealer? What is the best price you have gotten in Alabama? Thanks.
I also leased the MDX with NAV - 12K miles - 36 months - including tax - $595 per month. My drive off is about $850 (1st payment, bank fee tax, plates, DMV fees, inspection, etc). Seems like you have the same deal but your drive off fee is more, is this correct?
We are being offered a Base Model for $33,700, invoice in Carsdirect shows $33,811. Is this a good price or does anyone think we can go lower? We can travel to CT or northern NJ also if offered a better deal. CT does charge a dealer conveyance fee so it would have to be at least $300 under invoice to consider going there. Please help!
You know, I really just kind of wore out on it. I think that I could have gone back again to the guys in Portland to see if they would go lower (the actual price they had given me was $1000 over invoice and they were not charging us the $358 for the NW package) but the guy in Eugene sold us a car the year before and I really was okay with $300 over invoice. Plus the Eugene dealership is the only one who wasn't adding the NW package to the car, so I wasn't having to factor in something I didn't want. I believe it is possible to get lower than invoice, but you do have to work for it. And it is like the other guy said-timing is really everything. I know dealers are hurting to sell SUV's right now so it is good timing to get them down on the price. Have you gotten good quotes from dealers in the area? I would be curious to compare notes. Good luck and just go for it! You know I want to add something. When I started this process I asked the guy in Eugene if he would do $300 over invoice and he just kind of laughed at me and offered $1000 over. It wasn't until I gave him the motivation of going somewhere else that he offered that price.
I reached agreement with Acura of Boston on a black 2005 MDX (Touring, with DVD and Navigation) for $40,700 plus tax and title. While I ended up a few hundred over invoice, this worked out as a reasonable deal and was a very quick and efficient transaction.
hi - did you buy acura mdx for $38,800 as (gh0001 told that he got it for 38,800 fully loaded.i don't know whether it's true or not)? if you have bought one, can you give us some tips? thanks

Also, with internet deals, does anyone have free service oil changes? Do most Acura dealerships provide service loaner cars?
Can I get a rear view camera installed after I purchase the car? We don't need the Navigation system.
Did your MDX Touring, purchased at clinton acura for 36,625.00, come with running boards? At Bridgewater Acura I was offered the same model with running boards for $37,000. Do you know what the usual charge for running boards is? I figured about $500 which would make the offer comparable to your purchase.
yes it's true. maybe in LA you get better deals. More than one dealer offered me around to $39000 so it's not that unusual to get $38,800 for 2005 MDX with Nav & DVD.
I want to purchase a 2005 MDX touring w/navigation in the Los Angeles area. How much should i be willing to pay and can anyone recommend any dealer? Thank You.
We just got our '05 MDX Touring w/nav today. It's time for me to give back to this community by sharing our experience. We paid $37,900 (destination included) before tax, license etc. We added running board, cargo tray, cargo net, cargo cover for $800. Dealer also throw in wheel locks, which we don't care much about. We need running board for elder parents, but in retrospect cargo cover doesn't seem to be very useful. Cargo tray and net are of some use, but the tray can get in the way with third-row seats.
Overall, the buying process is relatively easy. We did a test drive, and went back to the same dealer when they have the color combination that we prefer in stock a couple of weeks later. I contacted a few other dealers in the area via email in the meantime, and got a sense as to who are more willing to deal. We finalized on the price over the phone before we went in to pick up the car, so we didn't really spend much time negotiating price at the dealership. We noticed some recent inventory increases, so dealers should be more readily to deal.
I am negotiating a 05 MDX and would like to know where can I find the dealer's approximate invoice/cost of some exterior accessories so I know if I have a good deal or not. Specifically, I'm interested in the towing package, running boards and side molding.
$38,800 seems like a very good price. I calculate that your dealer only made $61, unless you bought some accessories that you didn't include in the price.
$39,610 touring w/ nav and dvd invoice + $570 dest. charge - $1319.25 for 3% of base MSRP dealer holdback = $38,861.
Can any one suggest or recommend a dealer that will sell an "05 Touring MDX with Nav and DVD player in the TN-AL-GA-KY area for the prices i seen being mentioned above
If you're in NY the bank fee is 1095 - maybe that's the difference in the drive off. However, my purchase was Nav AND DVD. Did yours include DVD at 595?
Recently purchased a Redrock Pearl '05 MDX Touring w/ Navi.... Deal was for $38,600 (incl $570 des charge). Also had them install tube steps (satin chrome), spoiler, fender flares, full bug deflector, and side body molding for an additional $2K. Had an excellent experience with Priority Acura in Chesapeake. Worked out price through email. Also got about $1600 above kbb for my TL trade in.... MDX deal was slightly above average, but when paired with the trade-in, I think I got an overall good deal.
I've got a dealer offering me an '05 Aspen White Touring with Nav for $39,279 including wheel locks (which I don't care about) and destination fee. Now this isn't as good as the $37,900 I've saw posted in the last few days, but every dealer assures me that there are a lot less of the Aspen Whites available than any of the other colors, so is this a good deal? I also got quoted $950 for the towing package, installed (and figured I buy the side molding and running boards and install them myself).
For those that bought an Aspen White, how much did you spend and do you think you paid a premium for the color?
We're looking at that color too. I was told by an acura rep that no more than 11% of their inventory can be Aspen White due it's more expensive paint process. She told me there's an extra step involved to get the color so to manage costs Acura makes less X's with that color. I'm not willing to pay a premium over other colors, but it is a nice color. I'm negotiating for it now, 05 MDX Premium, Aspen White. Good luck.
Yeah, I was told each dealership only received one Aspen White per month. I'm not too sure about the "expensive paint process" as three of the other colors are also pearlized (Nighthawk black, Redrock and Sage Brush).
I did see an new Aspen White at my dealership a while back that looked like the driver's side doors didn't match the front fender but a jerk of a salesmen said I didn't know what I was talking about. The color difference was very obvious with my Serengeti sunglasses with rose colored lenses. Having just gone through months of anguish for a poorly matched insurance repair on my TL, I most certainly would not have accepted that vehicle, so watch out.
Please let me know what price you end up getting, and I'll do the same for you.
Thanks for the heads-up, I'll be sure to check the panels to make sure they match. The one I was looking at was still covered in plastic inside and out (even plastic on the wheels, never seen that before) so hopefully the factory did a good job and the panels match. After hearing your story, not sure if I can get the Aspen White for my rock-bottom asking price, but worth a try.
I'll be sure to share the price I get. Hoping to buy this weekend if I can get a good price. Good luck.
Purchased our MDX yesterday for just under invoice 36,278 + 695 for chrome wheels. Dealer threw in the base protection pkg. This one is touring non-nav light blue with gray int. Only color combo wife would go for. Could not get this deal in San Diego County. Had to drive 50 miles to Mission Viejo. Definitely worth it. We both love the car. Added bonus was 2.9% fin for 5 yrs!
I wasn't all that impressed with the wheels that came on my Touring w/Navi. Can you email me with a picture of what chrome wheels you received? dorfman4@yahoo.com
Did anyone else have any wheel options other than stock from their dealer?
Wheels are the same style in chrome instead of alloy. I wasnt impressed with the touring wheel either until I saw a showroom mdx in blue with the chromes on. You may disagree. I do not know if acura offers any other wheel. Sorry, no digital camera or scanner. Still in the dark ages. Good luck, mdx4wife.
Can you tell the dealer in the Bay Area that you bought the MDX Touring w/nav. It looks like you had a good buying experience. Also, did you pay $800 for the running board package over and above the $37,900?
I am not sure what the prices are for that model, but we got the base model in Aspen white for $300 over invoice. The dealer had to search the entire west coast to find one because they are so limited.
I challenged the dealer I was purchasing from about the cost of accessories and he told me that everyone pays the same price for them, which is the Acura list price. I thought that seemed a little off considering that every other type of car maker marks their accessories up by about 15%, but he assured me that the dealership had to pay full price for all of the accessories. I would be interested to see if anyone else knows differently. Good Luck!
Just got my 2005 MDX Touring with Navigation, body side moulding and wheel locks for $38850. Not exactly $37900 that some folks here can get in SF but do you think it's a good deal?
I purchased a 2005 MDX w/ navi 3 weeks ago. Signed up on the internet at autobytel.net. Received a call from Downey Acura within 2 hours with a price quote that looked good. Shopped around, nobody could match it in my area. Service was excellent altho' it took about 5 hours to complete the deal. Paid $ 38,100 + tax and lic. Should have gone for the DVD package but was about 1500 more. Also, my buddy is considering a purchase of a similar MDX from Thomas Acura in Covina. I don't have any experience with them but you should check them out as well. Hope this helps. BTW, I love my MDX! You will too! One more thing, got 0.9% financing for 36 months!
Wow! Sounds like you got it below invoice. Great deal indeed. I wonder why they will do it. I don't see any dealer's hold back. Am I missing something here?
Getting offered about 34k over the phone for an 05 MDX Premium in the Atlanta area, but both dealers I spoke to insist on the $400 Doc fee. I thought these doc fees were b.s. but both dealers say they have to charge it per state law. That may be true, but isn't the doc fee negotiable? Also, isn't it just added dealer profit? $400 seems excessive. Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks again.
Your quote is similar to mine, but mine has extra miles on it. Translated into +/- $20/month?
I got similar deals in couple of places (SouthBay & Tustin), so you should be able to find one.
(I can see more aggresive pricing in this forum, too.)
Good luck.
