Nice, thats my closest dealership, so at least I know I can expect at least that much off invoice from there! Was that price only or did it include any other fees or taxes?
Some dealers do different prices, but most shouldn't since all of the colors are easy to find except for the Aspen White Pearl. The AWP color is harder to find due to tight supply. I had numerous dealers tell me they only get one AWP MDX per month and they don't get to specify model (Premium, Touring, etc). For the dealers that had one in stock, none of them charged more for the AWP color. One dealer had two AWP MDX's but was unwilling to negotiate on price, not because of the color (I was willing to take a different color), but b/c they wanted more money on the sale.
The Pearl color is sort of an off-white color, whereas the Taffeta White is a blinding bright white. There's isn't much of a differnce, you almost have to see them side-by-side to tell.
To add to my previous post. I bought a new MDX with Nav and RES from Radley Acura. I called the internet sales manager and offered invoice minus $1500. He accepted and the sale went as planned. It was a straight forward buying experience. I got the car for that price --- the sales person was professional but didn't spend a whole lot of time with me. That was fine because I was familiar with the Acura product --- had a 2001 Cl before. I didn't get any options. VA has a 3% sales tax and I think they had a 249 process fee. Out the door was $40,200. I know that others have posted better deals but I needed a vehicle. I was without a car for 4 months after I bought a brand new 2005 Corvette lemon. It took me 4 months and the help of a lawyer to get ALL of my money back. I love my new MDX. Things always work out for the best......
Sorry kennyg8 didn't check the computer for a couple of days. Island Acura in Massapequa, NY gave me that price. But...........when I called they didn't give me that low price on a base touring, nav, dvd MDX. When I listed all the optional equipment I wanted that's when I was able to negotiate the price. They didn't really want to give me prices on a line by line basis, but that was ok with me. The total price I felt was good.
Does anyone know how long the money factors from AHFC are good for? I am interested in leasing an MDX Premium, got a deal, or so I think. This price includes the $1,500 cash back from Honda : Term: 42 months MSRP: $37,470.00 ( this includes a roof rack) CAP Cost: $33,300.00 Money Due At Signing: $572.00 Money Factor :.00230 Total Monthly: $447.00
I would like not to take delivery until mid august, as my current lease is not up until October. I asked the dealer if we could agree on this price and then not finalize until August. The dealer says that I will need to do this deal by the end of this month (July). If I wait until Next month I run the risk of rates changing and residuals changing. Is this B.S. Or is this truly the case.
I am coming off of a lease on Sept 17 and am looking to pick up an suv. Was going to get the FX-35 but am scared off by people telling me its too small. The mdx seems like the way to go. Am trying to find out how much a good price on a lease is w/ nothing down except frist month, All I really want is leather, cd and sunroof. Would like dvd, nav but am not sure if I would be willing to pay up for it.
Thanks for your help. By the way, is it a fun car to drive and is it significantly slower than the FX?
Thanks so much to the forum posts for giving me the true prices people pay. Most dealers here quoted $34K +TTL or higher. I saw some cheaper numbers and knew I could find a better deal if I tried. Well today I got it - about $32.7K + TTL ($35K driveout). This is for base model with mudguards, rear trunk mat and wheel locks. It is white with saddle interior - beautiful!. This was at a dealer in a little town about 1.5 hrs from Houston. Given that I saved $1.3K over the next best offer, it was well worth the drive.
I saw no point in paying more for electronics such as multi CD, wireless phone and navi. I can get better electronics elsewhere for cheaper and get them installed (as I did with my earlier cars).
Thanks all posters for the info. Long live the internet!
2005 MDX Touring/Nav/RES (Silver/Quartz) with Side Steps installed.
$38600 (includes destination) plus tax and DMV fees.
Considering an invoice price of $40180 and side steps being worth at least $500 installed, my price was more than $2000 below invoice.
Acura of Pleasanton, CA was able to do this when the others dealers in the Bay Area that I contacted wanted about $500 more. The $1500 factory to dealer incentive last until 9/6/05, so this type of pricing should be available for a while longer.
Hello, The dealer is offering me an extended warranty upto 6 years/72K miles for $995. Is that a good deal? I'd like to find out what others have paid for extended warranties from Acura..
In terms of the 2006, I don’t think the body is changing considerably. I believe that I read there will be minor changes to the MDX with big changes to come in 2007.
To answer your question regarding other cars I looked at -- I considered many others w/3rd rows but I seriously considered the Volvo XC90. I know that this forum is for buying experiences and prices paid so I will limit my discussion to these topics. I had to weigh the features offered with the price of both vehicles. In the end, I decided that for the price, I got the best car for the money in the MDX. Already I am enjoying the navigation system and my children loved the DVD player on our trip. We also liked the XM radio and knowing that we had Onstar on our trip. I would have had to pay a lot more for these features on the XC90 (and I don’t think it comes w/Onstar). So, in terms of “value”, I feel that I got the best value in my purchase of the MDX.
You might want to check out some of the other MDX forums here on Edmunds as they are discussing some of your questions.
I'm glad to hear that you had such a good experience there. Could you give some details? What was the great deal the lease that you got there? What model and which options? We are looking to lease a MDX leather Nav & DVD and that dealer is on our shopping list. Thanks.
I went to my local Acura dealer and made an offer on leasing a Pearl White 2005 MDX with Nav & Dvd: Vehicle cost $39000 Money factor .00188 $1000 down 36 month / 15k miles
They acted like I peed in their pool? Was my offer way out of line? I know that they have $1500 mftr support and they make a little more on the leases so I think that it was a fair offer. Please let me know if I am wrong. Thanks for any and all responses!
Is $37.0k including destination, before TTL a good price? I think so, and sense the price is coming down on these vehicles. Maybe because of the coming 2006 model. Am I off here? Thoughts are appreciated.
You shouldn't be peeing in anyone's pool!!! I don't think you can get the $1,500 with a lease deal, so try this: if invoice is $40,180 w/ dest, and standard Acura MF is .00178 (not .00188) for Touring w/ RES & NAVI, residual 54% for 36mo/15k/yr, with $1,000 down (+acquisition, 1st month, deposit) payment w/o tax is $497.84. See Roadfly.com, financing/lease forum for up to date MF & residuals, but what I have quoted is good until 9/6. Skip the RES & NAVI, and residual jumps to 57%, for a pmt of $447.89. These rates are good for all states except NY.
Just bought a MDX premium for 32,400, about $1500 below invoice. Bought wheel locks, chrome side steps, read spoiler, side moldings and roof rack for $1,900 installed. Total price came to $34,300. Was going to buy from Carsdirect to avoid dealing with sales people but they could not locate a Sage Brush Pearl w/Quartz interior in their dealer network. Ending up calling Keyes Acura in Van Nuys, CA and they had the car and matched the price from Carsdirect. Becareful with your trade in car if you go to Keyes (or any other dealer). I traded in a 2000 BMW 323, loaded, still under a CPO warranty, 77K miles and they offered $6K for trade in. After I told them I would have to think about the MDX purchase since the trade in was so low they increased it to $8.5K. I told them no and took the car to Carmax and sold it there for $12K. I know that dealers need to make money but lets be fair about it.
So I have not seen a lot of folks posting from the Northwest. I am off tomorrow to close on 2005 MDX Touring (no nav, no res) for $35.4 this include cargo tray, floor mats, wheel locks, TTL (although no tax in OR) and doc prep-fee. Buying from Acura of Portland, pretty good experience did all the negotiation over email or the phone.
I am working with a dealer on a 2005 MDX Touring with DVD and RES. It will include spoiler, cargo tray, floor mats and wheel locks. OTD price of 39.5K - 40K. This includes above accessories, TTL. Anyone out there have an opinion on the price. NC taxes on this would be about $1200 and doc fee is 398. I think spoiler is 500. This puts price of MDX at around $37,800. Opinion?
I am planing to buy the MDX and feel tired of dealing with the dealer. I was wondering how did you do this from carsdirect.com? can you explain a little bit in detail of your precedures.
Anyone know about an extra alarm system offer? Alarm is supposed to be better than what the car comes with, plus if the car is stolen, Acura will take the insurance check (for the depreciated stolen vehicle) and replace it with the latest MDX model. e.g., if an 05 is stolen in 2008, they'll give you an '08 model... Costs around $900. Any thoughts? Added value or another way to up the price?
So, this has been a complicated purchase in Northern California.
I talked to Niello Acura (Sacramento) on email for a week through the friendly Internet Managers, and worked out a solid deal with them. The arrangement was:
2005 Steel blue/Ebony w/Navi and DVD (model designation 189) w/ Wheel locks and Cargo tray for $38482, including destination.
When I went to pick it up yesterday morning, at a predetermined appointment, They said they sold it 12 hours earlier. Apparently, California has a law that until a contract has been signed, the dealer must be able to offer any car on the lot to any customer....ie no saving cars.
This was very dissappointing, but the internet salesman was great. After he didnt have that car combination, he told me not to buy a car or color I didnt like. He checked the inventory of 10 other dealers, and gave me the Acura of Pleasanton phone number. As we were outside making the phone call in the 100 degree weather, he brought us water, and then walked away to give us space. And then wished us luck, and offered his help if we needed anything else.
Acura of Pleasanton agreed to match the price. Pretty easy transaction there too. No problems, and same day delivery.
Acura financing is bad right now (5.8%), but if the dealer works with the same bank as yours, you can get a better rate (4.75%)
So, I highly recommend Niello Acura if they have what you need. Acura of Pleasanton was okay to work with as well.
Again, dealers have conflicting predictions. Niello says that probable redesign for 2006 (not released until December) with similar sticker pricing. Pleasanton says minor upgrades (ie dualzone temperature control, etc.) in 2006, redesign in 2007.
Just go on to the cardirect website (carsdirect.com) and go to the drop down box to select the make and model of the car you want a quote for. It'll also ask you for the model's trim level and your zip code. Chose the options that you want (although with Acura and Honda cars, carsdirect won't give you qoutes on dealer installed options) and you'll be presented with a price. Leave your contact information and either a carsdirect sales person on one of their dealers in their network will contact you about buying the car at this price. For the model I was looking for, carsdirect came in at 1500 below invoice, which was what I was looking for in price. It's a very simple process. I probably could of gotten a slightly lower price calling to all the dealers but it just wasn't worth the hassle. The only problem I had was that carsdirect could not locate the color combo that I wanted and it just so happened that I found the color at a dealer right by where I work. Luckily, the dealer was able to match the carsdirect price. I hate dealing with sales people also and I would definately go with carsdirect again, if they could of located the color I wanted.
We just bought a Touring + NAVI in Austin. Was all set to go with Vandergriff or Goodson up in DFW, but to my pleasant surprise David McDavid in Austin came through with a price of $37,830 after I told them I was going with a DFW dealer if they didn't work with me on price.
While probably not the lowest price I could have got in Dallas or Houston, it was close enough to make it worthwhile, given that McDavid is < 5miles from my house, and it saved me a 3-4 hour drive each way.
Other factors: they would not deal on accessories, so I paid $ 898 for chrome sidesteps and a moonroof visor. Finally, the car on the lot in my preferred color had a "protection package" consisting of wheel locks, cargo tray, and all season mats for $297. They were adamant they couldn't back out this "package" even though other than the wheel locks, these aren't really installed items. This annoyed me, because I was lukewarm on the cargo tray, but decided not to fight to have it taken out. So all in all, I paid $1195 for the accessories, and could probably have saved another $200-300 at a DFW dealer.
Finally, I would say the overall experience was very good, a notch below excellent. There was a phase early on where one of the internet mgrs wanted me to come in before they would talk price. When I complained about this tactic and sent them a detailed offer that they needed to match to get my business, they were quick to work with me thru email after that. They did try to sell me a bunch of extended warranties, prepaid service package, etc at the time of delivery, but again backed off quickly when I said I wasn't interested.
I hope we see more Austin dealers being more accommodating on price. I've never understood this phenomenon - are Austinites really willing to pay these outrageous prices? My last 2 cars have been bought from out-of-town dealers, which is why this was a nice surprise.
With the dealer incentive ending in early September and no rush on my part to buy the car, does it make sense to negotiate at the end of August? When do the 2006 models start hitting the floor? I am in no rush to get the car and figure that waiting a bit can only help.
Dealer told me that '06 model will only have small cosmetic changes -- I can't imagine we would be in the dark on a redesign at this point.
Can you give the line item pricing you were quoted. I'm searching socal for prices now and could really use the info. If someone knows where to find options pricing for the 2005 MDX, it would be appreciated. I'm looking for the following
Very glad to hear that we can also have way below invoice price in Austin. Does the price of $37,830 include the destination charge and the $1195 accessories? I'm also trying to buy an MDX in central Texas area. It would be great if I can also get the SUV at this price. Is it possible that I can pricematch your deal? Thanks a lot! Maybe we can share the referral fee if they have it.
No, that was the base price including destination, not including the accessories. That's basically invoice + $500 - $1500 dealer incentive. Again, people have reported invoice - $1500 dealer incentive in DFW, but I can live with the difference for the convenience of buying local.
The final sale price with accessories was $39025, and final out-the-door price was $41,728.95.
congrats on your new MDX. in case you don;'t know acuramdx.org is a great forum for owners and wanna-bes. i'm not surprised mcdavid decided to deal. I think they figured out that certain buyers are doing their homework and rather lose yet another customer to a larger market area...when I first approached them, they weren't even close with the selling price or my trade in, about four thousand dollars apart. funny how the market dynamics play out in just a few months. what color combo did you get?
btw if you want to sell your cargo tray I'd be interested in buying if the price is right.
I don't think carsdirect gives a very competitive price. I live in Queens, NY, and the price quoted for a touring with nav is only $400 below invoice, not the $1500 below invoice that some of us are getting. :confuse:
Can anyone tell me what a good price would be on a lease w/ nothing down (only first month and maybe security) for an MDX w/ just leather, cd, sunroof ( I guess basic premium package) w/ 10/12k mi for 36/39/42 mos. Also anyone have an idea how much nav and/or dvd would inc monthly payment?
'05 Touring in Sage Brush Pearl with installed running boards for $35,595 before tax? I haven't seen anyone do better than $35k for the touring and $595 for the running boards installed isn't too bad if you look at it as $495 for the boards, $100 for the install.
Seems like if I could do better it would be a marginal difference.
Based on the suggestion from this furum. I searched the lowest price possible a few hundred miles around Buffalo, NY and get 05 premium model/Silver with black interior as follow. The car is coming in Aug. and the dealer asked me to put $500 deposite. -- Is it OK for me to put the deposite? What should I do to make sure there will be no unseen things happen?
$32,400 (destintation included) $253 for rack (?) $243 for protection package (floor mat., etc) $150 processing fee total: $33,050
No problem putting down a deposit if you have a signed sales contract, but definitely do it with a credit card, not a check or debit card. That gives you much more protection as far as getting that money back if the deal falls through.
If you don't mind travel, Philadelphia has better deal than that. You can get between 34,700 - 34,900 for MDX Touring. Most of dealers will do invoice less 1500.
in many of the deals I've seen, the customer did not pay destination charge. in my case, I didn;t have to pay it but then I only got $1000 of the rebate off the invoice. depends what kind of deal you can work out. good luck.
you paid for destination charge....it is already included in the price of the car no mater what you think...that is why you only received $1000 of the $1500 incentive. EVERYONE pays for destination no matter what...in the end...it is all the numbers game....
You can get the best deal of: 33812 - 1500 = 32312.
I live in Buffalo, NY and very difficult to cut the price. Talked to them and asked if they provide price close to 33400 (600 over invoice). The answer is -"you are stealing money from us" - very bad experience. So I decide to go other place - a few hours driving. Talk to the people and they are very nice (they even immediately give the price of the added roof racks and protection package around 250 each). Only a few min. on the phone and got the deal.
