thanks.
Others (Clair, Peabody) just would not go down; and let me know that they were "offended" when I suggested these offers to them. Oh well...
I also just bought an MDX premium (not touring) from Acura of Boston (see post 2250). The TTL = Tax, title, license (registration). Doc fees = $193.75.
I recommend Acura of Boston. Remember to make sure to take $1500 off the dealer invoice of the MDX you want before negotiating. You should also include any extras (all season mats, cargo tray, etc) as part of the negotiation. You will see that I got the $1500 off the invoice and only paid @ $88 for my extras. Look at the other posts and see what people have paid for the MDX you want. I knew others had paid @$32,500. First offer from Acura was $33,200 and I indicate that seemed higher than others were paying and he came down quickly.
Work with the Internet Sales Manager at Acura of Boston. He is the Sales manager and he gets right down to business and cuts out the sales b*llsh*t. Once you agree on price when you go to the dealership he will set you up with one of his sales guys to do the paperwork, test drive, etc.
Good luck
towing package (hitch set up and torque etc) $1044
Burlwood interior $495
The deal is slated to be a 3 yr lease
15k miles per year
They want 2200 down and 525/month.
without the wood trim and tow package it is
2000 down and 487 a month
I am curious why I am asked to pay up front (over the 3 yrs ) and in full for the tow package and wood trim.
When I turn the lease in in 3 yrs I have paid in full for those 2 add on items, but then I have to give them back to the bank so they can sell them a second time?
Is that a "dealer trick"?
Thanks for guidance in advance
Jay
Someone else on this board also spoke to Westchester Acura and the internet mgr told them to get quotes and he would do better so it's worth a try.
Good Luck!
Hope that helps.
Sales Price: $38,180 ($1,500 below invoice, less $500 back from dealer holdback)
Total Capitalized Costs: $38,775 (includes $595 Acquisition Fee)
MSRP: $44,545 (includes $570 Destination & Delivery Charge)
Residual Value Percentage: 55%
Residual Value: $24,499.75
Depreciation Amount: $14,275.25
Mileage: 15,000 per year
Additional Mileage Cost: $0.10 per mile over 15,000 miles per year at beginning of lease or $0.15 per mile over 15,000 miles per year at end of lease
Money Factor: .00285 or 6.84% APR
Front End Costs: first lease payment plus document fee ($95.00), plus title & tags ($238.00), plus sales tax (approx. $2,900.00)
My monthly lease payment is $660 per month. This payment includes an additional amount of $83.33 per month which covers an additional 10,000 miles per year so that the lease is really a 25,000 miles per year lease.
Any thoughts?
Get it for $38,180 or less; it is out there!
Cury Acura in Scarsdale came close but did not respond to my counter in time. They called a few hours too late, and I wasn't going to back out of a deal to save a few bucks. They do work hard to earn your business. Definitely give them a call too.
Contrary to these guys, dealing with some dealers especially away from the tri-state area and PA were like pulling teeth. Why can't they just give me a straight answer? Worst of them all is Bridgewater Acura which happens to be my local dealer. They're rude, and they lie. Their service department is just as bad.
Let me know how your pick up went!
Thanks...
For everyone out there, I have to agree with SKIGREAT, Bridgewater Acura really is the worse Acura you can prossible find. You can call them many times and each time, the price is different. Since we can't give the name, there are only two person working as internet sales. And suppose, they work with each other (so they said), but one will give you a price and the second person will say it was an mistake. So don't waste your time over there.
Anyway.. skigreat, waiting for your good news. Hopefully you will come back here early enough that I can get a new MDX for this long weekend.
They backed out from 39.4K, Doc fee 135, NJ Tire fee 7.50, Temp plate fee 3, TL 339. Then divide that number by 1.06, and there you have it. I consider doc fee as a part of dealer profit, so if you add that back in, you get a pretty good idea. Some dealers charge higher doc fees, so dealing with the walkout price was the logical thing to do.
Payments come to $1110.11 for 36 months starting in 45 days, no money down. I am so thrilled.
Every dealer's got like a 100 MDXs on the lot, if they don't wanna deal, they can keep it. Famous quote from Bridgewater: "The 1500 is our money Acura gives to us, and we don't have to give it to you." My reply: "You can keep the money AND the car! All yours!"

I am registering in NY, I need to pay NY tax and registration separately.
Overall it has been a wonderful experience:
Send quote request to the dealer
Negotiate price over the phone
Go down there with a certified check
spend less than 30 minutes there, drive home
I highly recommend Sussman, their service exceeds my expectation.
Without me mentioning it, the car came with wheel locks and a full tank of gas, which you normally do not get from NY dealers.
Don't work from the monthly payment as your starting point. Don't be a payment buyer, be a MDX buyer. First, you must negotiate your best possible deal as if you were purchasing the vehicle.
Residual Value is a factor that lease companies use to determine the amount of depreciation that will occur during the length of the lease. The person leasing the vehicle is responsible for covering the cost of depreciation as part of their monthly lease payment.
At this point in time, an Acura MDX lease at 15,000 miles per year would have a residual value of 55% of the MSRP.
The lower the sales price you are able to negotiate directly lowers your capitalized costs in the lease which lowers your monthly payment. The higher the residual value of the car, the less depreciation you are paying for and the lower your monthly payments will be.
I was able to get the car at Invoice, less the dealership incentive of $1,500 and then less an additional $500 of the dealers holdback.
On your deal, the dealer made about $1,900 profit; about 4.5% of the invoice price. You did a pretty good job!
I would always aim to do no money down if possible and stay away from any cap cost reduction. I think you can get more negotiating down on the Touring models as opposed to the base. Look atthe other posts regarding the sales price negotiated on the base model for a comparison
Excellent customer service at Sunnyvale Acura and no pressure at all - this has been the smoothest car buying experience I have ever had. A bit of a drive forme but worth it.

MDX Touring with Nav/DVD.

Got in touch with the Internet sales department and asked them to match some of the prices I got from other dealers.. Drove down and picked it up.
Good luck for those who doing shopping this weekend. And give Ramsey a try (call the [non-permissible content removed]. sales Manager, who is off on Wed.). I don't think there will be too many [non-permissible content removed]. sales Manager who's off on Wed.
Double agree with SKIGREAT, to Bridgewater, keep your 1500 as you wished and the MDX too. :P
Thanks...
buying an MDX, Specifically, one of the SFV or Ventura
county dealers???
MDX Touring Model - $ 34700
Taxes - 7%
Residual Value - 63%
15K mile/year
36 month lease
Trade-in amount applied - $2500
Down Payment - $0
Interest Rate - 0.9%
I will help you out, but I need to know the answer to a few questions:
1.) What is the MSRP of the MDX Touring model you are looking to lease?
2.) Does your purchase price of $34,700 include the destination charge?
3.) Speak with your Acura dealer and ask what Money Factor they will be using in the lease calculation. The interest rate you quote of 0.9% is a promotional rate being offered and subsidized by Honda America for purchased vehicles, that will not apply to a 36 month lease. [Money Factor will be in the .001188 to .0025 range most likely.]
4.) Taxes of 7%; Will you write them a check at "drive off" for the taxes or will you build it back into your lease payment?
5.) What about other costs and fees such as: Acquisition Fee, Document Fee, Dealer Prep., Tags & Title, Security Deposit, Lease Administration Fee, or Processing Fees? Of these fees and costs: a.) Which ones will you be responsible for? b.) What is the actual dollar cost of each? and c.) Will you be writing them a check at "drive off" for this amount or will you be building it back into the lease payment?
I realize this sounds like a lot to ask, but these are the questions that must be answered in order to get a real lease payment calculation that you can evaluate. Dealers love to lease because there are so many opportunities to "mine" for little profit nuggets.
Let me know.
1) MSRP = $39,725
Invoice = $35,785
2) $34,700 = amount I've seen others post they got the same model for after the $1500 rebate. It does not include destination.
3) Not sure what the money factor is all about. Maybe you could explain?
4) taxes will be built back into the lease
5) other costs approx. $1K. My goal is to trade-in my 03' Accord EX with no money extra out of pocket.
I would like to know the calculation for leases and which factors are fixed and which are variable so that I have more bargaining power with the dealers.
Thanks!
Reb
Other than that pretty good experience, got the vehicle in Garage... Many thanks to the forum which gave me hope and patience to hold on for the good deal...
Any experience on buying extended warranty online from hondacuraworld or curryacuracare.com... getting better prices on either one of them by about 300-400... do dealers sell the extended warranty alone too? If so any advantage buying from local dealer instead of internet? Want to make sure before taking any action... :confuse:
