Took the plunge today and signed a contract for a base 2005 MDX, black/saddle, for $32,700 plus TTL. How did I do? :)

The dealership we went to was David McDavid Acura at Plano.

Thanks all for the great info in this forum, especially the one about the $1500 incentive.

37,600 ( dealer's invoice price minus 1500) is the price for the touring with navigation system options. It comes with voice recognition, blue tooth technology, bose stereo system with 6 cd in dash changer, backup camera and etc. This price DOES NOT included taxes and DMV fees ($255). All other accessories like running boards, tail spoiler and etc. are extras.

considering MDX, live in Columbus, Ohio, is the rebate nationwide, is it only offered this June 2005. thanks.
  • edge2edge2 Member Posts: 2
just bought an MDX Touring + Nav from Vandergriff. about $37.5K not incl. TTL. with wheel locks and front tint windows. Was satisfied with the deal and trade-in value of my car. Vandergriff was willing to deal (so was Goodson) I worked with the internet sales manager. McDavid and Sterling in Austin and Dallas didn't want to deal at all. John Eagle and Sterling McCall in Houston wasn't as aggressive as up in Dallas....it's no wonder I bought my last car (Pilot) in Dallas too. It was worth the drive up from Austin.

I got quoted $40,500 for this from a dealer in Houston. Does this look like a good price? I have yet to get a reply from him on what the OTD will be.

has anyone dealt with fleetrates.com? Is this a reliable site?

    Thanks,

I am in Seattle area and here though dealers acknowledge that cash incentive is there but they are still quoting only a few hundered below invoice. Wonder if any one had luck on the west side getting those fancy invoice - 1500 deals?
Is the rebate offer this month only or is it ongoing? Wonder if I should wait through the month end or should close a deal earlier?
    Any info, ideas, tips...

great deal! I think I'm going to stay local to the dc metro area. can you tell me what the pohanka internet folks were offering for the Touring w/ Nav? Were they willing to deduct any of the 1500 incentive from the invoice price. Thanks.
  • melaniebmelanieb Member Posts: 9
Pohanka only gave me $500 under invoice. Radley said they'd beat any internet offer by $200 and free oil change for life. Rosenthal was willing to beat all of those too. Good luck!
  • carusercaruser Member Posts: 12
$34885 for touring with navi, that's $3495 below the invoice which is $38830 (including des). even with the $1500 dealer incentive, it's unbelievable.
  • kennyg8kennyg8 Member Posts: 225
I second your opinion. That is an incredible deal for a spanking new MDX!! I may even want to drive to DC from New York just to get the same deal. Over here at metro New York, the dealers still want invoice plus.
  • eddiemaceddiemac Member Posts: 141
Try Lindsay Acura. They are $1000 under invoice until July 5.
  • edge2edge2 Member Posts: 2
you should be able to do better pretty easily. just need to shop around more. ask the dealers in Dallas. I had better luck there.
  • melaniebmelanieb Member Posts: 9
FYI - Sussman is actually north of Philly in Jenkintown

I bought two MDXs at John Eagle Acura in Houston (an '01 on March '01 that was traded for an '04 in Jan '04). You should do OK simply emailing their internet sales manager. I have never gotten good offers from Sterling McCall in Houston BTW.
  • ro_joero_joe Member Posts: 6
Where in Philly did you get that deal?!! I'm looking for a 05 MDX Touring with the entertainment system and I'm in the DC area. I have yet to go to Pohanka. I've emailed them and I'm hoping to get a good deal.

I have benefited greatly from this message board. Bought my MDX05-Premium at $34,880 on the road, including TTL and everything from Sterling Mccall(SM) here in Houston. Gilman was willing to match any deal but they did not have the vehicle on the lot and was asking for deposit. So, I went back to SM internet manager and told them the price and after lot of discussion they said they will do it. They wanted to get me in without any price commitment but I made them commit (it is easy to do shameless bargaining over the phone). You need to do all the bargaining before hand and do not feel bad to quote at invoice minus $1500 and stick with it. If you have patience they will give in but you have to be in touch with them. Sometimes they don't whether you are a serious buyer or not. Good luck.

Hello I really want to thanks this page i got a MDX NAV AND DVD at pohanka acura for 38150 plus fee and title. this a 2000 below invoice. No body in Columbus OH want to match this at all so we have to drive it back 400 miles which was not bad
  • msu79gt82msu79gt82 Member Posts: 541
Congrats - its amazing to hear everyone's story. I have bought three vehicles from John Eagle (two MDXs and a TL-S; hows that for serious buyer) and in all three instances Sterling McCall would not even come close - two years of free oil changes at John Eagle helps as well. These past few months I've been seriously contemplating a new RL and once again pitted the two internet managers against each other. This time I even went to Sterling and told the guy that this was the 4th Acura I was looking to buy and how bad did he want my business - he still would not deal as John Eagle would ??

I'm glad you got such a good deal there; but I wonder why they won't work with me :confuse:

I am from Bonney Lake and had horrible deals from the dealers in the Seattle area so we are purchasing from Eugene, Oregon-Kendall Acura. We are getting the base model for $1500 under invoice. Plus they don't add any of the extras and try to charge you for it ($358 for the NW protection Package was what the Seattle area dealers were charging). If you don't mind the drive, go to Oregon. The dealership in Portland was also willing to offer a great deal. The internet guys there were honest and helpful. The dealers in Oregon are all willing to contact the
Washington DMV and figure out tax and licensing for you too. I actually had the dealer from Fife tell me that if I could really get that deal from Oregon that I should take it!. Good luck and let me know if I can help further.

jack26, that's a great deal. Did you need to battle with them to get that price? Did you deal with the internet sales manager? I'm looking for the same, NAV and DVD.
  • boscoeboscoe Member Posts: 6
Hi - What exact model did you get from Sterling. I live in Houston and was at Sterling on Monday. Did this have Navi? Did you get a price on a NAVI version?
I really look forward in your reply. How much was the actial TTL too.
sorry for all the questions, but I'm ready to buy too and would like to get the same deal with NAVI. Would love to get the salesman's initials too. thanks

Nope, no salespeople's initials - that would, obviously, violate the spirit of our policy, which is to prohibit soliciting for one's self or for another individual.

I live in Houston ... Would love to get the salesman's initials too.

As our Host has said we can't do that - however if you read carefully both bargain1 and I both said we went to the respective internet sales managers. Both dealerships have websites. Good luck.
  • boscoeboscoe Member Posts: 6
    thanks, I got it!!

what was the exact configuration though
touring with NAVI for 34,880 plus TTL

    thanks again
  • melaniebmelanieb Member Posts: 9
FYI - Got a call from dealer saying it was a price mistake...so I don't believe they are offering it. I asked the host to delete my post to avoid future confusion. Sorry!
  • ajb11ajb11 Member Posts: 2
Melanieb - You got that call because I called the dealer and asked for a quote. They said that you traded in a $3000 car and that accounts for the difference (thus the $3000 trade-in value should be added to your final price). Is that true or are is this all dealer spin?
  • tintintintin Member Posts: 19
I am reading about the incentive in recent messages (june 05). Is this a natiowide incentive? I did not see it anywhere.

    Thanks.
  • tintintintin Member Posts: 19
How much did you pay for this car? Excluding TTL (that varies from State to State)
  • amkamk Member Posts: 5
PLease help I am looking to lease MDX BASE in new Jersey. MSRP IS 37470. BUY FOR 34350. 36 months 12K/year with 0 down. Please tell me what the monthly payment should be.
  • mdx4me1mdx4me1 Member Posts: 25
I'm also dealing with Pohanka. What was your final on the road price, including everything? I just want to know how much to estimate for tax, destination, and all the other charges they may tack on.
  • tintintintin Member Posts: 19
Where did you get the $1500 under invoice. We only have on local dealer and he is quoting me $43000. I have not gone in to the dealership to negotiate (which we all want to avoid :-)

I am in New Orleans area. Willing to travel (reasonable distance) if the price is right. If you can give me the name & locatin of the dealership that would be great.

    Thanks....
  • mdxmangtamdxmangta Member Posts: 12
    Hey Fish2575
Thanks for the info. I did go to their web site and put in a request for quote. Haven't heard from them yet. May be I will try to call. So did you get the financing deal too. If so can they work that into financing as well or did you have to pay it separately?
I hope to get an offer like the ones on this forum... but so far it seems like a dream...

Just picked up my brand new (5 miles) Acura MDX Touring with Navi this afternoon. I must say that the dealer Courtesy Acura in Sanford/Orlando exceeded my expectations in every category. I am very, very particular and cannot say anything but the BEST about this dealership. These guys are the extreme contrast of a traditional dealer. I received efficient top notch service and a price that couldn't be touched within many counties in Florida.

I am a very satisfied customer...boy, I could actually do a commerical and feel good about it! :D

Considering purchase of MDX w Nav in Pittsburgh. No mention of $1500 incentive. Just attractive financing. Anyone had a recent experience in this market? How flexible is the dealer pricing?
  • eddiemaceddiemac Member Posts: 141
    you're welcome.
  • fish2575fish2575 Member Posts: 23
I think he said that the financing was available with the incentive. We are financing with our credit union so I don't have details on that. I will let you know that the dealers are long in coming to a good price. I had to really work for it-emailing other dealers to see who would compete for my business. I had about two months to go back and forth with dealerships. I can tell you for sure that you won't get the best deal on the first try, but if you are persistent and patient you really can get a good deal. it seems like the northwest has a high demand for the MDX though. I think that dealers in other parts of the US are more readily willing to bargain. I'd love to hear what you find out. I was discouraged at first too...Hang in there. And I'm not quite sure what you are asking about "did you have to pay it separately?" Let me know and I will try to answer your question

Because of this post, I was able to buy an 05 MDX touring in the northeast for 36.6-1500=35200, and I was able to get 2.9% financing for 60 months, which saved me an additional 1500+. Dealer was cooperative once I mentioned the 1500, although not enthusiastic.

Thanks much for the others on this post, I was going to buy for 36.7 until I heard about the 1500.

Anything find any good deals in NJ/NYC area? I got a quote for 05 Touring w/ NAV for $37300 (invoice - 1500) + tax & fees. Does anyone have better price then this?

Anyone have any suggestion/take on the $1500 rebate to dealer? Think Acura will continue to run this through July? I am waiting for more news on the 06 / 07 MDX.
  • tiger0tiger0 Member Posts: 19
fun6889, can i ask which dealer you got that quote from? just started looking in the NJ/NYC area myself, so far the lowest initial email quote I have is for $38K -- but this is just the beginnning... ;) please let me know where you're getting the $37.3K from, maybe we can work together...
  • mdxmangtamdxmangta Member Posts: 12
I meant the local taxes, you wouldn't be paying sales tax in OR but when you register the vehicle in WA, DMV will charge the taxes (9.1%) along with registration. However if you buy from WA dealer then dealer includes the taxes in the OTD price and you can finance the whole amount. I was wondering if OR dealer can pay taxes to WA and finance the whole amount. If you like we can take this discussion offline and share more details. My e-mail is rksgaddi@hotmail.
I talked to my Friend in San Jose and his internet manger sent a mail that for Touring+Nav he will price $2000 below invoice. Where as in WA area people are still hovering around invoice. I am almost tempted to fly out and drive back the car from CA.
  • mdxmaybemdxmaybe Member Posts: 1
I'm getting $1,000 above invoice before rebate taxes etc. This is the Boston area.
    Is that a good deal?
  • fun6889fun6889 Member Posts: 27
I got the same quote from 2 dealers in central NJ. At first, they gave me few hundreds under invoice, until I question them about the 1500 dealer rebate, then both of the drop the price themself. They are open road and bridgewater acura. The pricing seems fair. But before I was told that 2 dealers in North NJ were selling it below invoice and also - 1500, which is even better deal. So I am hoping someone will post their pricing. Keep me posted if you find anything better.
  • wbeemwbeem Member Posts: 1
You must've gotten the Black Touring w/Nav that I wanted. May I ask, what did they charge you for that beast? I'm getting quite the opposite impression from the prices quoted to me.
  • ashd1ashd1 Member Posts: 14
    Hi folks,

Was wondering if there is a reason for the $1500 incentive. Is a hybrid version on the way ? If so then does it make sense to wait for the hybrid - maybe not as the hybrid model may be way too overpriced as is usually the case.
Or is there any other drastic overhaul of the MDX in the works ?

    thanks :confuse:

I leased it and felt I got a great bargain. I think by reading the lease it was right around $40k??? I am not sure if that is right because of all the numbers on the lease. Have you had a not so favorable experience with them? I can't tell you how FANTASTIC they were....I drove from Clearwater to Sanford to pick it up. Are we allowed to ask what sales guy you talked with on these forums? I am happy to provide you with my contacts if we can. Also, Ferman in Tampa was awesome as well. And for me to toss around these compliments means alot because I have very high expectations.

Just picked up my Black/Black MDX, Touring w/ Nav at Radley Acura in Northern Virginia. $37,360 including destination. Purchased with 2.9% special 5yr finance deal through Honda Financial. Talked to Brandon to make the deal (let them know Pohanka was doing crazy deals - which is true) and Charles helped me getting through the paperwork. Was painless as could be. Highly reccommended.
