Does anyone know how much exactly they charge for fees in VA apart from destination?
  • inkyofokinkyofok Member Posts: 62
Well, I did a deal. My problem was trading my HOnda RL RTS truck which took a big hit on value. I paid $27,600 for the truck ($30,700 MSRP)in Sept 05 and drove it 17,000 miles. Go to Acura dealer (4 time buyer there) and guess what $20,500. OK big game but I just say, I guess I will keep it a while as it cannot depreciate much more the next entire year and left professionally. 20 minutes later cell phone rings. OK how about $1,000 of instock base in sand color and $500 more for trade. I said I will think about it as I was sitting at another dealer! I fooled around about a half hour and called my salesman with how about $17,500 plus my truck delivered total price TODAY NOW Done deal.. He called back in 3 minutes with yes. Today talk means everything in sales. Now the good customer went from $20,500 on trade and MSRP for MDX to $23,165 on trade plus my nice clean truck. This I could live with. But they came up $2600 from first deal. How much money is enough for them?Edmunds and KBB trade values are much worse. Dealer claims they only could get a bid of $21k for the truck and were discounting the new one by $2165 which is all a shell game. They have a Honda franchise as well will put on lot for $26k and get $24k way easy. Anyhow, hard to tell how bad or good a deal this was. My truck did have $500 bumper damage due to wife mishap with guard rail that was put up while she was shopping as she certainly did not see it while parking.

My view on the MDX (I had a 04). Nice but less minivan functional and more a drivers vehicle. I like tempory seating for 7 from time to time. Nice overall. Steering wheel did seem slim to me. How in the world does that get by the engineers as fat or thin is the same cost in this world. Picky I know but edmunds article made me notice it.
Anyhow when I was there the navi models were flying out with people all over them . Poor little base all alone--I doubt dealer would give same deal to me on tech package.
Anyhow, pick up tomorrow as the dealer was doing a comp tint on front windows. I do think BSM is needed on this car.
    Regards

Thanks to the help on this forum and Jose at Palm Beach Acura in West Palm Beach, Florida, I walked into a dealer and told them $4200 under invoice and walked out with my MDX. I got a Touring edition with a few options with and invoice of $37200 for $33000.

Thanks to all of your messages on this forum.

Have you gotten a chance to find ath 2007 MDX close to the Invocie price.
What are the best prices people have been getting for 2007 MDX with the Technology package in the NEW YORK area?

    Thanks

Just purchased one for 2K below MSRP from springfield, NJ who called it their "Internet rate". Every other dealer quoted MSRP. My understanding is that all the area dealers agreed on quoting MSRP until the end of the year.

Isn't that price fixing and it is against the law?

Anyway, built an 07 X5 3.0 with everything expect for cold weather package, hud, premium sound, and it came out ot be over $62K (MSRP)! That is incredibly high compared to the MDX. Is it worth the extra $15-$18k for the performance and driving characteristics for a BMW? As for me, I can't make that determination until I test drive one. But for now, the answer is NO!

Hi, got a quote in Boston for $33.8k for touring edition.
a.) is that a good quote now? b.)what could I counter with?
c.) what would be a reasonable quote for tourning w/ nav?
    Thanks!
  • flevyflevy Member Posts: 18
I got a quote in northern Virginia for $35,900 for a 2006 Touring with Nav. Salesman was quick to say that this price was their "stated price" and there was room for movement. I have not gotten back to them yet.
  • ziggy60ziggy60 Member Posts: 2
Price fixing? who knows, probably not. You gotta figure stuff like this is going on everywhere and perhaps a temporary price fix is not so illegal.
If you can wait till the end of the year you should be able to shave at least 3K.

The comparison with the X3 and even X5 is just a joke. The only car I considered was the FX35.

So far after 10 miles we are absolutely thrilled with the MDX. The only problem for us no keyless and no Howard (you only get XM). The purchase experince wasnt very smooth with Springfield and I cant recommend going there unless you get a great price via phone/email. If you go there prepare to get aggrevated.

I am looking to buy a 2007 Acura MDX w/ Tech and Entertain, anyone know a good price for the buy or the invoice??? Thanks
  • mforgionemforgione Member Posts: 2
I just went online to Edmunds.com and found that there is a 3k cash to dealer marketing support from 10/13/06 to 01/02/07... anyone know what this is about? Thanks.

I would also file a complaint with the better business bureau (www bbb org). I would also call the State Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division. I would tell the dealer that you are doing both of the above.

For the 2006 models, to help clear them off the lot. Good deal if you don't mind driving yesterday's metal.
  • low_ball_88low_ball_88 Member Posts: 171
    Zig,

Like I said before on another thread, the MDX feels very sluggish and I do not think I will buy one unless it is a great deal, like a few thousand below invoice (around $40K). I just feel that both BMW and MBZ has increased their prices so much that fewer people could afford it. If the X5 drives and handle like I expect it to and I could get a deal on it, I would buy it if it was around $10K more than the MDX. As for the FX35, the interior seems very cheap and I don't like the sound of the exhaust for an SUV.

I just purchased a 2006 Touring with Nav for $35,675, which price includes destination, so a net price of around $35,000. After calling around the DC area delears, it appears there were fewer than 8 2006 MDX's available and half were Touring models (and only two with Nav). My guess is that there may still have room to negotiate, but supply is getting very tight and prices are actually creeping up a bit.

    Flevy,
I live in Virginia and am trying to figure out what the taxes, title and license would be on a 2006 MDX, would you mind sharing? Did you buy in VA or MD and was there a difference in the taxes that you saw?

    Thanks
  • flevyflevy Member Posts: 18
    lkngtobuy:

I live in Va and bought the car in Va. The tax was about 3% and TTL was $115; Pohanka charges a $299 processing fee, for drive away total of $37,168. I did not get this info from other jurisdictions, but if you live in Va, I am pretty sure those are the taxes you would end up paying.

    Good luck
  • lkngtobuylkngtobuy Member Posts: 6
Thanks for the info Flevy. Sorry for not being clear in my first email, was this 3% tax the "gross receipts" tax that you paid to get out the door or was this your property tax (presumably you haven't gotten hit with that yet)? A MD dealer is telling me she doesn't have to charge me the VA "gross receipts" tax that a VA dealer has to charge me, so I would save from buying from her.

    Thanks
  • flevyflevy Member Posts: 18
My experience is that you will have to pay the 3% tax when you register the car in Va, regardless of where the car is purchased. I have purchased a number of cars in Md. and have have always had to pay this tax when I wen tot register it in VA. In addition, the sales contract clearly refers to the $1079 as "sales tax".

    Good Luck.

Got an e-mail from a dealer in the mid atlantic with one '07 MDX Base at about $1,500 under MSRP. Looks like there's lots of inventory around and these may not be moving as fast as hoped. Seems like there's a ton of upcoming SUV releases in the next 6 mos and maybe people are waiting. Anyone else getting any below MSRP quotes or seeing softening on 07 MDX prices?

MDX just had a record November sale number.

I live in Cincinnati,Ohio. I got a quote from one of my dealer for 2006 MDX Touring+Navi+DVD for 36,792 + TTL. This also includes all season mats + wheel locks. Is this a good deal or an OK deal? Can I bargain for any other accessories.
    Awaiting for your valuable feedback.

    Total cost is as follow:

    Price --- 36792.00
    Doc. fees --- 250.00
    Transfer fee -- 25.50
    Sales Tax --- 2409.73

    Total (OTD) --- 39477.23

I've heard about the $3k factory to dealer incentive, but what is the additional 3% of MSRP discount? Is this a factor used to discount b/c 2007s are available? Please advise. Thanks!!

    Hiya,

I feel it's a good deal. You should go for it. Even I was looking for one with NAV and its all out of stock in the place where I live.

If you know any dealers who have 06 MDX (TOUR with NAV) please post their names and location.

    Good luck

    Hi all,
I negotiated my way to a deal on an inbound '07 MDX tech/ent back on 10 Nov and put down a $1K deposit. It shipped on 24 Nov to arrive between 5 and 9 Dec. Today I happened to be driving by the dealer, and there it is! So, I swung in and talked to the manager on duty, who said, sorry this one is a service loaner, can't be sold. I went out and looked at the window sticker and it said "SVC LNR", no price. Now they say they don't have another one coming in until right before Christmas, but that should be mine now! WTFO? WWYD? Been waiting one month, now I feel like I'm back to square 1.

I apologize if I didn't make too much sense in my last message, but as you can tell, I am P.O.ed. And I've had a bottle of wine to help calm my nerves. We've been waiting for this 07 Tech/Ent Aspen White/Parchement for 1 month, so I would like to know if the dealer has a leg to stand on. Is there something that PROHIBITS them from selling a car without a price on the sticker, or can I force them to sell it to me anyway? Or am I just yet another sucker to this dealership, which I will happily name on this board if they do not resolve this issue tomorrow morning. Request inputs from any with industry insider knowledge!
    Thanks

Its been awhile since I sold cars, and not familiar with Acura, and been awhile since I drank a whole bottle of wine. (I don't get out much)

But that said I think your 30 day wait (so far) would be envied by the 180 day horror stories on these boards. See Mazda3 and most recently, the Honda Fit (why would anyone wait 6 months for a 16000 economy car? at least you're waiting for something substantial)
In the future, put down less than $1000, guarantee that its refundable, and put it on a Visa/MC for extra measure. This being first for a new model year with a special order car can be an adventure.

I say this without any motivation but if I were you, I'd pull for $1000 deposit for the principal. I understand that you are ticked and maybe you should be, maybe you shouldn't (I don't know why they put it out as a loaner). However, you are not doing the dealer a favor by purchasing the car from them. It is the other way around. Sure, you might have to wait longer for the car but I bet you'll get a better deal. Ask youself this question, at the end of this next summer, will it matter if you bought the car in December or March? ( I can say by having one of the first 2004 TL's in the city that by the summer it didn't matter to me.) just my 2 cents. Good luck and sorry it happened to you.
  • dogwhistledogwhistle Member Posts: 17
Yep, just bailed out of that deal, deposit was refundable. I did a phone deal on the exact same car about 3 hours away for MSRP-$1k, no fees, and a free auto-mirror (should have been there anyway!) We go pick it up tomorrow afternoon. :P

    Thanks!

$1K below MSRP? Where is that deal? It is permissible to post the name of the dealership and location.

Pohanka Acura in Chantilly, VA. Don't tell them I sent you!
  • mdx_buyermdx_buyer Member Posts: 6
Hey...Thanks for your reply. I am not sure where you live (East Coast? Mid West? West coast?). I did talk to dealers in Indianapolis and they still do have some 2006 MDX with TOURING + NAVI.

So you think I have a good deal for my MDX.
  • jusilverjusilver Member Posts: 2
    Dogwhistle,

Good work! I am curious, did you pay 1000K below MSRP including taxes? What was your final Out The Door (OTD) price? I am just curious if that price you paid included taxes.

    Thanks!

    Justin
  • dogwhistledogwhistle Member Posts: 17
Oh, no, that would've been nice! MSRP-$1000 plus free mirror + TTL. My sheet here says $46857.06 after all is said and done. Not the best, but not the worst, either. We've put 220 miles on it as of today (180 just to drive it home) - it sure is a sweet ride! I do have to swing back up to have them replace the Tach lens, as it had a scratch on it, but other than that, no problems.

And no trade-in was involved, that might make a difference too!

I live in dallas,tx and i have been offered a price of 31k from a south florida dealer for a 2006 mdx base model, since the same combination is not available here.

I am planning to buy this model with a bank loan and part of my finance and send both the checks to the dealer.

    My questions are these :
is it safe enough to send the checks.?

what should i ask the internet rep for details like VIN number and miles on the car through a email to make sure it is not a demo or a loaner vehicle and the vehicle is in stock?

Should i ask for a invoice by fax and US mail before sending the checks.

What will happen if the dealer realises the checks and later says that the SUV is not available.

If the sales tax is charged on florida state, do i have to pay the sales tax again in texas.

How do i get insurance on the car - should it be florida to texas.

Can i ask a carrier like DAS or national auto transport to have the car shipped. Will this be OK?

Would be thankful if anyone can answer these questions.
    Thanks

I picked up my 07 MDX with Tech/Ent package $2500 under MSRP($46365) on Dec 4th. I could not talk the dealer into Auto dimming mirror, but from what I read & was quoted by other dealers..it was the best deal I could get & I am happy so far. Could I have done better???? :):)
  • impaylerimpayler Member Posts: 14
May I ask where you picked up the 2007 MDX, which dealership?
I heard that there is an abundance of MDX's as there are alot of new SUV's being released this year. How did you find your buying expereince, were the dealers negotiable?
  • george227george227 Member Posts: 3
Hi I am planning to buy 07 MDX high end model(Sports/tech/ent) in Boston area. Right now I am not satisfied by the price that the dealer near by gave me. He just gave $500 off MSRP. :(

I read some forums that people got 07 MDX $1000-$2500 below MSRP. please suggest me what the best price i can go for and if anyone did got the best price do let me know with delear details and how much below on MSRP. I am looking forward to the suggestions. :confuse:
    Thanks in advance
  • btalbtal Member Posts: 4
Got it from Sunnyvale Acura. I wouldn't say there is an abundance of MDX's yet, but a lot better than a month ago. However majority of them will offer 1k off MSRP. When I told one dealer that I was offered 1500 off MSRP, he suggested I run & get it.

Anyway, where I picked it up, it was fairly easy. 2 emails 1 phone call, visit the dealer & I gave him my final price, he agreed.

A lot of them might start doing 2k-3k off MSRP by the end of this month I think.
  • george227george227 Member Posts: 3
We will negotiate with the dealer again or else we will wait until this month end. Thank you very much.
  • george227george227 Member Posts: 3
Thanks for the information. The final price we are getting with Sports/Tech/ENT black exterior and taupe interior with roof rails, cross bars and sports running boards including taxes is $52,000. I feel its too much for acura MDX compare to X5, Q7 and Lexus. Is it worth to buy acura MDX for that price?
  • kbhaktakbhakta Member Posts: 17
Acura has put more into this MDX then the previous generation. It's not like the prices of the X5,Q7, and Lexus are standing still either. Acura just surpassed BMW for highest residual value...so I would say it's a good investment in the long run.

I just picked 2006 Sage touring with Navi for $35K (including Dest and $2000 worth of accessories). It is a demo car with 5000 mile. Warranty on this car start from today and for 55K miles.

How is this deal, please share your views.
They also have another similar car black on black but I like Sage better.
  • rgangireddyrgangireddy Member Posts: 1
Just took a new 2007 MDX Black Parchment Tech pkg MDX from Jackson Acura, Alpharetta, GA with roof rails and cross-bars installed plus dealer added protection pkg: wheel locks, body side moldings, etc, total drive out is $45250 which includes 6% cobb county tax.

SUV on lot, you can grab the above deal!!! Talk to Darren Schelle!!! :)

No one else in Atlanta is going below MSRP or may be 1000 less.
  • dogwhistledogwhistle Member Posts: 17
You can't really judge a deal on price unless you include whether you had a trade-in or not. The only apples to apples comparisons are with deals that do not include trade-ins, there's just too much subjectivity otherwise. I don't know whether you've already purchased that car or not, but I would be wary of a demonstrator. You can be pretty sure that those first 5000 miles were tough ones on the car, they're rode hard and put away wet! So compare that car with similar used car prices, not new. If you could find a non-demonstrator 2006 for a similar price, I'd go that way. But it looks like the pickings on new 2006s still left on the lot are pretty slim to non-existant! Good Luck!
