mckomer -- That sounds like a great deal. Not sure what the invoice was on the car, but at an MSRP of around 46.7+, looks like you achieved a pretty steep discount. Good work.

What area do you live you? Do you mind posting the dealer you purchased from?

I'm looking to buy here in Houston. What dealership did you negotiate that great deal with?
  • therichardsonstherichardsons Member Posts: 8
Might be interested in your MDX. Let me know where you are located and the interior and exterior colors!

Thanks dcjme -- Invoice is $41,773 incl. dest so comes out to $227 over invoice, but then tack on the $630 (retail value) in freebies and it ends up being less. Email me for the dealership info wondermel@gmail.com. I live in northern NJ.

Hi Vladimir - feel free to email me, I don't want to cause any troubles by publicizing the dealership's name because they were really nice to us.

Hi Vladimir - it's wondermel@gmail.com, listed in the posting above yours.

Thanks kyfdx, I know I can list the dealership name/address but I don't want to publicize the offer without their OK in case it was a one-time deal. Just want to maintain a positive relationship both ways, hope you understand =)

Hi everyone, I'm so sorry, I misrepresented the pricing on my posting above. It should have said --$43,000-- NOT $42,000. My mistake, I wasn't the final signer on the contract and my spouse just clarified how it actually broke down.

Even still, for this area it's a pretty good deal given the pricing that I'm seeing here and the bonuses we got. Keep it mind, we were really aggressive and worked hard for it, so there's little to no wiggle room left.

My bad, sorry for the confusion!

I have '04 MDX w/Navi & RES and planning on trading it in for an '07. I"m sure there a lot of you here that are in the same shoes. What have you been offered in the trade. Car has 55000 miles.

If you traded in an '05 post as well I wanna compare.

    Thank You
  • impaylerimpayler Member Posts: 14
    WELL everyone,
as you can see MCKomer not only misrepresented the pricepoint, she is unwilling to reveal the dealership she has purchased the MDX at, and this makes this "DEAL" extremely suspicious. If you are gonna brag about something like that, be prepared to disclose some facts, otherwise, don't say a word.

    Hello Mckomer,

Can you please confirm if that price is for SPORT+TECH with or without Rear Entertainment? Also If you give a reference to which dealership in what city and STATE you purchased this vehicle from.

    Thanks

I bought an 07 MDX with Sport and Tech Pkg for 43683 from John Eagle Acura in Houston. This price also included Destination,Body Side Mouldings and Tinted windows. I bought a Nimbus Grey with Taupe Interior. I hope this helps buyers looking for an MDX in Texas area. Infact I got better price from DCH Montclair and Park Avenue Acura both in NJ for around 43200 for the same car but I decided not to go and buy since it is costing me more for shipping.Incase anyone needs more info, please let me know.

    Thanks.

Thanks for the info! Did you get the DVD rear entertainmen?
  • gsvipulgsvipul Member Posts: 14
No, I didn't go for the Rear seat Entertainment.

    Thx.

    Thanks
  • x5killerx5killer Member Posts: 368
We bought a 2007 MDX with tech and nav thinking we wanted an SUV. Have now decided we want an RL. We have 600 miles on the MDX...any idea how much we should ask for it or what trade-in would be? Email at bob-elainecomcast.net."

you might not want to get rid of it after you find out how much it depreciates as soon as you drive it off the lot. like $10,000 or more.
you wont get as much from trade in as you would from private sale which will make you kick yourself even more.

I might be interested in buying your mdx though.

MSRP for my car was 46643(including Body Side mouldings and Tint).
  • therichardsonstherichardsons Member Posts: 8
    Hey gsvipul,
I live close to John Eagle Acura in Houston. Would you mind e-mailing me any details on your experience there, who you worked with, strategy, etc? I test drove the 07 MDX, and didn't sit down to negotiate, but got the sense that the salesman wasn't willing to deal much on the car.
    Thanks! Bryan

I purchased an 07 Sport with Tech (not with Entertainment), incouding roof rack and rails, auto dimming mirror, and sport runnng boards for 44,200 excluding taxes and tags. Dealer is in Northern VA. Purchased at the end of December, so I'm not sure if deals are different now.

mckomer - This is a great deal you have negotiated. I am in Cincinnati and I have checked with dealers in this area, Atlanta and Chicago (since I travel there to see family frequently)and have not been able to get a better offer than $1,500 off of MSRP for the 2007 MDX, black on black with Tech. and Entertainment. Can you share with me your strategy and what market conditions allowed you to get the car at/slightly below dealer invoice? Thanks in advance.

Hi FN - it's $43,000 for Sport/Tech without Rear Ent. City/State was Ramsey, NJ. Email me if you want contact info (wondermel@gmail.com) as I can reply now since we've already picked up the car. Good luck!

Hi pahomer -- I too live in N. VA and am in the market now for an MDX. With all those extras, that's a good deal, particularly given when you bought. Can you tell me where you purchased from and what the experience was like? I've heard not so great things about the buying experience at Pohanka and some complimentary things about the buying experience at Radley.

    Thanks so much

This website is a disaster; all I wanted to ask someone is if it is required to disconnect the speedometer when towing behind a RV. Cant find any way to review the potential answers.

Pettisk: Can you share with me your strategy and what market conditions allowed you to get the car at/slightly below dealer invoice?

Hi Pettisk, to start with, we used sites like edmunds to email for quotes with the package that we wanted. This puts them in a competitive mode right away. Then we took the lowest quote and went to the dealers to see if anyone could beat it. We visited about 6 dealers all together, and were very straightforward with all of them. When we sat down with salespeople we explained that we already know the market price, we just wanted to know if they can beat it. Eventually, two dealers came back with the same offer and we said to the one that was a little further away that unless he gave us a reason to to him, we're likely choosing the closer one, all else equal. He ended up throwing in freebies, was very courteous and professional, and we liked him better anyway in terms of service, so that's how we decided.

I have a good relationship with my dealer, so feel free to email me (wondermel@gmail.com) and I'll give you more details if you're looking to lower your out-of-pocket costs. Good luck!

    Hi All,

I'm in the market for an 07 MDX. But, I haven't been able to find invoice pricing info as yet on Edmunds. All those who got those great deals, would you be kind enough to share them? I'm interested in the Sport Package + Tech.
  • honeymhoneym Member Posts: 3
    Hi there,

Hoping to get some feedback on quotes I've received for a 07 MDX with Tech in Blue/Ebony interior. The first dealer has offered 2200 off MSRP, second 3300 off MSRP (this is w/out too much haggling, but have dealt with both dealers b/f). Should we anticipate getting additional $ off, or is this about as good as it will get? In the NY Metro area.

    Thanks.

Thanks! At least now I have somewhat of an idea as to how much this guy was trying to fleece me, LOL. He actually told me he was getting more than MSRP! However, that really didn't surprise me for the area I live in (DC Metro). I however refuse to pay MSRP. Say, where'd you get the numbers? Would they have info on the accessories and options too?
  • honeymhoneym Member Posts: 3
Hi, I actually got these from Consumer's (I subscribe to their new car buying information site whenever we hunker down to consider options -- and no, they don't offer prices for the options).

However you can also find the invoice prices on the web on Yahoo: http://autos.yahoo.com/acura_mdx/?refsrc=iy/model/acura+mdx

    Best,
    HM

Anyone has experience buying '07 MDX Sport w/ entertainment in Seattle area (4 dealers: Lynnwood, Seattle, Bellevue, Fife)? Any input is appreciated. Price is the BIG concern. Less important issue is the post-sale service also to consider.
    Thanks in advance.
  • justg0justg0 Member Posts: 70
I recently (end of Dec) bought 07 MDX Sport(+Tech) with Entertainment from Acura of Bellevue. I would rate the buying experience as quite good - basically I was able to get the car I wanted without too much trouble. Got 2K off MSRP, but I spent only 30 minutes negotiating. I think if you can spend more time and talk to multiple dealers, you should be able to get a better deal, but I just didn't have the time to do that.

I have been enjoying the MDX experience so far, it was especially fun to drive it in the snow that we had recently. Now I need to wash it :P

I don't have a lot of experience in purchasing autos. Do they start to offer DEALS during tax return season? :confuse: I have researched this car up and down, we test drove in November....We Want The MDX!!! We are going to apply our tax return for down payment in addition to trading in 1999 Toyota Landcruiser!!! Can anyone give me some advice?
  • cheapskate21cheapskate21 Member Posts: 49
    Thanks, justg0.
It's good to hear that they're willing to go as low as 2k off MSRP. Good decision getting the car in December - sales tax deduction is great. I hope they're still that motivated to sell and we can still claim the sales tax deduction for '07. What color exterior / interior is yours?
    :)
  • xc90bobxc90bob Member Posts: 10
You can deduct sales tax on a vehicle??? :surprise:
  • justg0justg0 Member Posts: 70
Nimbus Gray with Ebony interior - gets a little dark inside but we did not want Taupe with 2 kids rubbing their shoes and dirty hands all over the seats.

The salesman did tell me that the discount was valid only in Dec as they were trying to meet some numbers to be the # 1 volume dealer, but I just don't trust any sales people so who knows.
  • xc90bobxc90bob Member Posts: 10
A dealer is asking me what I think a fair price is. I'm thinking invoice across the board, LOL. Is that a good starting point or should I start off subinvoice?
  • cheapskate21cheapskate21 Member Posts: 49
xc90bob: You can deduct sales tax on a vehicle???

In WA state if you itemize your income tax deductions, sales tax is part of that. If you don't itemize, then it won't matter.
  • cheapskate21cheapskate21 Member Posts: 49
    Yup .. same here I got 2 kids: 4 & 5, so i have to go w/ ebony too.

one website told me that January is actually the best month to buy just because every1 overspent during the holidays / vacations, not many people out there shopping for a new car.

but ... i'll wait a couple more months before I pull the trigger. I will give an update on this forum when I do.
  • cheapskate21cheapskate21 Member Posts: 49
    Fair price ... for MDX?

I think it depends on supply and demand. Like right now, every dealer in WA have at least 7-8 MDX's in-stock, so i'd expect the price to be pretty competitive. After much reading, I think 2k-3k below MSRP(= 1k-2k above invoice), will be a good deal. It all depends on how much time & hassle & negotiations & price comparisons you have.

Nevertheless ... you can always start at invoice / sub-invoice price .. and see where you end up. You may break a record for getting it at or under invoice price. Let us know. :)
  • xc90bobxc90bob Member Posts: 10
I was actually starting at invoice for the car and MSRP for all the options. I think that's fair. But, LOL, the dealer may think otherwise.
