I am in the process of negotiating a final price on a 2001 MDX with NAV that has only 31 000 km (or ~19 500 miles) on it. The dealer is asking $25000.00 canadian.

Is this deal to good to be true?
  • btalbtal Member Posts: 4
Well, it appears to be a good price with all the extras u have on there....I just went from Rx 330 to Acura. I don't really care for badge on my hood. I think Acuras are good & I am hoping it will serve me well. Never used a BMW, but from what I hear, it keeps going to the shop quiet a bit. Lexus was great & I am hoping the same with MDX now...Good luck.

I'm in Northern VA, what should I expect to pay for the 07 Base MDX out the door?

I talked to a salesperson at Pohanka and he said I can get $500 above invoice for the RDX but didn't say anything about the MDX.

    Hey Jacob0218

I'm in NoVA as well and looking to get an MDX. I've got 2000 below msrp on a tech package but that's all. looks like they have a lot of base models in stock so they should go lower than that.

Anyone else got a better deal than 2000 below msrp on an mdx? Please let me know :confuse:
  • cstabilecstabile Member Posts: 29
    Izmirian,

Can you say which dealership in NoVa offered you 2k off msrp for the tech pkg? Pohanka (Chantilly)? Radley (Falls Church)? Karen Radley (Woodbridge)? I'm looking at a sport pkg and am getting no where near $2k off msrp.

    Thanks.

Go to Autotrader.com and specifiy an 07 MDX for a wide area search of your locale. A bunch of stocking dealers will show up and list how many MDX's they have in stock. Shop the dealers with the most inventory.

I went to Radley falls church. But the finance manager over there is an .ss. I had taken home the paper that they've offered 2000$ below msrp last month and when I went there yesterday he denied that he had lowered it by 2000$. It was crazy. I'm telling him that I had the print out from his computer and he is still saying it's impossible. Anyways, pohanka has a lot of cars. If I were you I'd get it from there. They should be more flexible. If you want I can fax you a copy of the offer sheet that I've got and you can use to negoitiate with other dealers. I'm definitely not getting an MDX even though I like the tech related details about the truck. I hated all the experience at the dealers and definitely not worth paying that much for a low 40K car with bad residual and 7% apr. I think they still have the Honda mindset instead of a luxury car dealer.(like BMW or Mercedes). I know it's not the same truck but I'll go with a loaded X3 (47K) and pay 450 a month with no money down.

I bought an '01 MDX from Radley over 5 years ago and your assessment of their approach to financing is correct. However, their service dept has been very responsive and has even worked to get Acura (American Honda Corp) to pay for several out-of-warranty repairs.

If you can settle for an X3, isn't the RDX more equivalent? than the MDX? [seating, wheelbase, etc.]
  • lkngtobuylkngtobuy Member Posts: 6
I also had a horrible experience at Radley and ended up buying my 06 MDX at Pohanka, where we had a great experience (well as far as buying a car goes). Would definitely stay away from Radley sales, I can't comment on their service dept.

I am getting $2000 off MSRP for MDX 07 Sport + Ent. I think I can get the dealer to go some more if I buy this month. Good deal???

$2,000 off of MSRP sounds great compared to the quotes I'm getting here in TX. Out of curiousity, what part of the country are you getting this deal? I've read a few other posts of individuals getting deals in that range (mostly on the east coast), but they seemed to be offset with a substantial package of dealer installed accessories.

On that note - anyone out there getting decent pricing in the TX area and if so might I ask what dealership?
  • rush1169rush1169 Member Posts: 15
$2k off MSRP (with no other fees) is what it will take to get me to pull the trigger. So far, no luck. N TX, OK, and KS are all hovering around sticker with and without gimmicks. . .To add to that, none seem to have any inventory. They've all told me to put down earnest money if I want to buy one at sticker and receive it in about 45 days. . .

I pulled the trigger on Nimbus Grey MDX 07, Sport + Ent today. Got 2K off MSRP - I could have done better if I had bought yesterday, but today I went with my wife, so the salesman new I was wanting to buy and would not go lower.

The story he gave me was that there is some sales race going on and they want to be number one, so they are taking something off MSRP. Come Jan 1st, prices go back to MSRP. Anyway, I am happy :D

This is in the Seattle, WA area.

just bought a 07 nimbus gray MDX Ent/Tech + chrome side steps, roof rails and cross bars. haggled down to 44,000 + tax/title/etc.. for all of that. what do you all think?

I got MSRP for that from multiple internet sources (acura website, edmunds, kbb, etc..) and it was in the ballpark of just over 47,000.

    this was DCH montclair.

    hope this helps.
    happy negotiating.

    Thanks

Got a price of 36400 for 06 w/navi and something called, "gold pkg" Is this reasonable???From FL dealr
I think 35 is more to the mark???
  • pateljipatelji Member Posts: 4
    vlad,

i cant name the rep per the regulations on this website, but it was DCH Montclair Acura in Verona, NJ.

just resist the temptation to buy all the other "extras" the business guys try to force down your throat.

no matter how sweet they make it sound, just dont get it. i made the mistake and later on realised the error and asked them I wanted to redo the financing to get rid of all those extras. they weren't happy but they had no choice.

    good luck!

I live in Northern VA. I think dealers are making deals now--at least from the earlier posts in this thread. I had a pretty "easy" negotiation with a Northern VA dealer for an '07 MDX with Sport package, roof rack and rails, auto mirror and sport running boards. Price was just north of $44K, with an all in cost right around $46K.

The dealer did mention that prices would "rise" beginning of '07--prices down now do dealer could make certain quotas and incentives.

Just passing along for what it's worth.

I paid $1,000 above invoice price for the MDX 07 w/ Tech package in Northern VA three days ago:

    $39,200 (rounded figure)
    670 destination charge
    1,000 mark-up
    40,870 Total without accessories

42,250 Final Price with accessories and destination charge

Our accessories included: roof rail/crossbar, running board, cargo cover, cargo mat, all season mats, "free" wheel locks). Retail value of accessoires is over $2,000. Note 1: I did not have a trade-in. Note 2: Negotiate the price of the Acura Care Extended Warranty if you intend to buy it.

Buy before close of business day Jan 2, 2007 since this is the end of their fiscal year - they want to boost their sales record.

The MDX is really quite nice. I personally feel I got it at an excellent price being a new release, but I hope you get a better deal...if so, please let me know for kicks. Good luck!

Statuskuo, You said you bought in N. Va but did not say which dealer. Please give the name. Do you really think this deal will not be doable after Jan 2nd? Thanks.

I have an offer for Acura MDX 2007 with Entertainment and Navigation for 43962 (including $670 Dest Charges). Is it a good deal?
  • rush1169rush1169 Member Posts: 15
To all who've purchased below sticker: Are you buying the 07 MDX out of dealer inventory? I ask because all the dealers in my neighborhood (KS, OK, and N TX) don't seem to have popular colors with Tech+Ent in stock. Specifically, I want Black/Taupe Tech+Ent and none of the dealers I've contacted have one. I can pay a deposit and pay sticker and get the next one available (generally 4 to 8 weeks). . .ugh.

That price is $2,403 off of sticker, which would be a price I'd pay - I think that is a fair deal for you and the dealer. Is that a "cash and carry" price or did you add accessories, buy a warranty, use their financing, or have a trade that would change the sell price?
  • warlordwarlord Member Posts: 3
I just got this price quote from the dealer today. For me, I think it is too expensive since the invoice price is $41,103. I think I may need to try another dealers to see if I can get the better deal.
  • warlordwarlord Member Posts: 3
    Invoice Price should be $41,193
  • rush1169rush1169 Member Posts: 15
I do hope you can do better than $2,400 off sticker - that would be good news for me too. I think $2,400 off at today's supply/demand is still a very good price. As time marches on, supply will increase and demand will decrease and invoice price will become a reality. . .Hopefully sooner than later ;)
  • justg0justg0 Member Posts: 70
No, I got the one that was in stock. The deal specifically was for inventory in stock and valid only till end of the year (2006) in order to meet some sales quota. Fortunately for us, the color and options (Nimbus Gray Sport + Ent) was what we wanted and they had exactly that in stock.

I was just told that MSRP is the best deal that I could get on any MDX. I walked out but really love the car. Is this true?
  • abemathew0abemathew0 Member Posts: 1
HI, 2K off MSRP sounds like a good deal. May I ask which dealer you went with? I was talking to the Lynnwood Acura dealer a few days ago and they were only willing to come down about 1K off MSRP. I'm looking for a Nimbus Gray/Black interior with Tech.

    Hello & Happy New Year,
I was just quoted 2,403.00 off the MSRP on the 07'MDX with both Tech. & Enter Pack. for a total of 43,962.
  • rush1169rush1169 Member Posts: 15
    Did you buy it?
  • justg0justg0 Member Posts: 70
This was at Acura of Bellevue. I did not negotiate very hard and was still able to get 2K off MSRP. Note that the dealer had said it was valid only till year end - but that may be just a tactic to get me to buy.
  • nimo1nimo1 Member Posts: 2
No, still negotiating with other 3 dealers but I have a feeling that this is it. Will keep you posted.

If your a costco member go onto their website and sign up for their auto buying program they give you a dealer's name and a sales rep who will give you a special price as part of the deal costco has with that certain deler, as well as he has to show you the invoice price of the vehicle, now I didn't get that far to go and do that cause I ended up buying the car at the first dealer I went to but I'm sure it would help some of you out there. For you Sam's club members I beliew if I'm not mistaken there's an auto buyer program as well.

Sounds like you have done your research. We bought a 2007 MDX with tech and nav thinking we wanted an SUV. Have now decided we want an RL. We have 600 miles on the MDX...any idea how much we should ask for it or what trade-in would be? Email at bob-elaine@comcast.net.
  • gearheadedgearheaded Member Posts: 19
    Egrabor,
I find your plight intriguing as I am torn between MDX and RL and most people can't believe the two are being cross-shopped. If not for two kids, I think RL would be no brainer. Can I ask what changed your mind so quickly? :confuse:
  • fighterwsofighterwso Member Posts: 15
I posted a note in the "2007 Acura MDX" forum ...
    RL vs MDX

I traded my 2005 RL ... Trust me when I say "Once you put a decent sized object in the trunk - You are out of space!"

2 pieces of luggage in the trunk - FORGET IT!

For 2 people - it is fine. After that ... no way. It was very frustrating.

    Good luck.

I just bought an 07 with Tech package in Houston for $1500 over invoice. Granted it was a "one-time" offer on the last day the dealer was open in 2006, but that compares to $750 off of MSRP and a few accessories thrown in being the best I could get from any of the other local dealers. Note - I reached out to all of the Houston, Austin, and San Antonio dealers in my search. So, at the very least you should be able to get one for $750 off and $400 - $500 of accessories “thrown in.” You may have to take a short trip to get it, but I hope that helps!

We spent about a month researching and test driving everything under the sun, and finally went "all in!" on the '07 MDX w/ Tech+Sport package - yay! Price finally felt right for both us and dealer: $42,000 included dest, first maintenance service, cargo tray, cargo cover, wheel locks, all-weather mats, and door edges (a $630 bonus). :D From reading these boards, it sounds like all our hard work paid off, right??

p.s. We took test drives in the X5, RX350 and RX400h, FX35, Grand Cher Ltd w/Hemi, A4 Avant, Saab 93 & 95 Sportcombi, Pilot, Highlander & its hybrid... like I said, everything :)

One last question: I know the '01-06 MDXs had something called a Cargo Separator, does it fit the '07 or is there a new version of this accessory? We have a big dog and need to put something up to prevent her from jumping out of the cargo area and over the 2nd row seats.
