A lot of those late run Countach survived with few miles and in perfect condition. I don't think it is the 25th anniversary cladding, but I can't recall exactly. Probably around a 1988 model.

Those Jags when original are worth about a bazillion dollars.

The Countach was documented as all original.

The Jaguar, I'm told, was a total ground up build, starting with nothing but the VIN.

Nice, then definitely not a 25th anniversary (which were 89). I think those were a lot cheaper 10 years ago, kind of a cool thing for anyone who was a kid in the 80s.

The one car looks similar to a Mercer Raceabout. I don't know them well enough to know for sure, but I have a friend that has one in his bedroom. ;)

Next time your friend sees the car, ask him to ask the owner if it wants to sell it.

What does the "L" on the wheels of the open speedster after the Pontiac stand for?

I think it is a Locomobile Speedster, so the L is for Locomobile.

If you mean the gentleman in the khaki shorts and sunglasses, I am going to say no.

Sir Stirling Moss is almost 90 now; the person in the picture is much younger looking than that.

Given the type of crowd at that show, I wouldn't be terribly surprised if he was there.

There are some similarities, mind you.

I've been watching a show on Discovery called "For the Love of Cars". Includes Ant Anstead, who will be on the new season of Wheeler Dealers. Similar premise, but way more detailed, between the two shows, except this one focuses solely on classic British motoring icons - Triumph Stag, MINI, MG TC, Ford Escort Mexico. Ant finds a really run down example and basically does a frame up restoration. At the end, they send the car off to auction, but for some reason that part isn't part of the show.

His co-host, Philip Glenister, gets involved with the local enthusiasts for whatever car they are featuring.

The reason I bring this up was that on the episode that featured the MINI, they recounted the rallying history and that one of the drivers was Pat Moss, Sir Stirling's sister.

I saw that episode. The show is an unusual mixture of good and no-so-good with me. I enjoy some of the history like the interview with Sir Stirling and others who were involved with or descendants of those who were involved with the development of the car. I was less taken with the time spent with the current enthusiasts of the marque in question and the co-host, Mr. Glenister. I also think they show very, very little of the work Mr. Anstead & co. actually do.

I get the impression that is by design - the lack of time spent in the workshop.

If you think about it, that is the primary change going forward with WD - less time in the shop with Ant, more time with Mike.

New season of WD starts next week - should be interesting.

Mike and Ant claim otherwise. We shall see. The most recent season was very different to me and not nearly as entertaining. That had nothing to do with lack of shop time being shown, it just was inferior in a way I couldn't quite put my finger on. Didn't like it at all.

Not sure when it will start up here in Canada, no announcement yet.

Very expensive and fairly prestigious car back in the day, after their humble beginnigs. You had to be very well off to own one of those roadsters, maybe $100K in today's money. Locomobile is credited with being the first car used directly involved in a war. So they say.

That's the Archduke Ferdinand assassination car, a Graft & Stift from roughly the year of his demise (1914). Some might say WW1 was born there. Rumor has it that the car is cursed.

It's in a museum in Vienna now, and I plan to see it when I am there in November.

So +100 years later and that car still looks like a crime scene. And now I want waffles.

Btw - is that a modular phone block on the lower R side of pic?

Well, maybe more on the up and up than Bellevue. This isn't Geneva, after all.

True, general tax-avoiding bankster types are likely cleaner than local money laundering real estate types, or the sketchy diplomatic club.

With the passing of Tom Petty, it might be fitting to show this building, which no doubt has seen some obscure cars over the years:

    image

Casa De Cadillac, Sherman Oaks. The building survived remarkably complete, and has received a sympathetic renovation, appearing in present day much as it did 60 years ago:

    image

It's visible in scenes from the music video for "Free Fallin'", a hit he had when I was in junior high, and still like today.

RE: Tom Petty--in the early '80's I worked for a week in Gainesville, FL doing surprise audits of Revco drug stores. Tom's brother Bruce was the chain's cigarette jobber in the area. He came in and I met him. He was a little chubby then, in sharp contrast to Tom.
