2007 HONDA PILOT EX 2WD
MSRP $30,240.00
Internet Discount ($3,650.00)
Dealer Incentive (not valid with AHFC programs) ($2,000.00)
INTERNET PRICE $24,590.00
Dealer Fees add $600
2007 HONDA PILOT LX 2WD
MSRP $27,690.00
Internet Discount ($3,295.00)
Dealer Incentive (not valid with AHFC programs) ($2,000.00)
INTERNET PRICE $22,395.00
Dealer Fees add $600
What do you people think? It doesnt seem nearly low enough to me. I was hoping for a lot more off. They seem to be using the $2000 dealer incentive INSTEAD of a discount.
I should aim for at least another $2K off shouldnt I???
Negotiated price was $29,433
Out the door $31,420.34
Toyed with doing the one with RES instead of NAVI and that would have been $30,610 out the door.
I imagine I could have saved $200-$300 if I worked more dealers, but at the end of the day my time is worth something. The internet folks at Hendrick are excellent.
Thanks,
DD
The Pilot wholesales used for about 10000 off msrp after a year so you want about 6k off.
Good Luck

Wow, I've learned so much over the past few days from you guys. I sent out my requests and received back about 80% response level. I was looking for an 4wd EX. but several dealers responded that they were only 1-3 in the whole state of TX. Is this B.S.? Everyone one that did actually give me a quote stated this and also quoted prices for EX 2wd models. Sadly, they all seemed high compared to the deals being discussed here. I emailed 9 of them back asking for better quotes on the 2wd. I'll post what I can get.
Thanks,
DD
How much more if decide to get Navigation with it so we can get a color we like.
Also since we plan to keep 8-10years, need to start warranty search. Any ideas or pricing amounts?
Thanks
So, I think the price they quoted you $22395 is really nice to start in FL as I live in Bay Area and here is famous to sell car at lower price. At this stage, I feel it is impossible to get $2K off from the price they asked. I actually emailed them back with $22K offer and none of they said they can do this price. So,there is not much room to negotiate. Couting my time is also valuable, I just go to the nearby dealership and ask them to PM the $22350 quote I got in eamil. Hope it helps.
Thanks to all the people who have contributed info and tips to this forum. I have picked up mine yesterday after almost 1 month emailing back and forth.
I got a commitment of $31.8k from the dealer before I ever stepped into the dealership. If it wasn't for the color, I would've been in and out within 1-2 hour.
Here are the break downs for 07 Pilot EX-L w/Nav AWD:
1. base: $30.4k
2. DMV fee: $218.00
3. window tint
running board
cross bar
wheel lock
rear splash guard
all season mat + installations : $1,182.00
The dealer has told me that the month of May has been
really slow. She only has only sold 55% of an average
month. This is the best deal I can find in Portland, OR
area. It is Jay Lee Gladstone Honda, no sales pressure,
no warrenty sale pitch pressure. Great experience.
Only deal with internet department, ask for Vicki.
For Canadian fellows, the dealership does export to Canada
with only a couple papers to fill out. Save 10k in
Canadian dollars for 5-hour drive, worth it? You decide...
============================================
Be aware of Beaverton Honda in Beaverton, OR.
My experience with them is "bait and switch" tactics.
The sales manager said my price is about $1k apart with
him, but will not give out a # over the phone because
he said he'll always lose if he's done so. We were
actually about 3k apart when I learned that in the
showroom.
Good luck to everyone who is in the market for Pilot.

I checked out the EXL's but all of the 4wd's I've found either have NAV or RES. Neither of which I'm willing to pony up for. "Supposedly" Honda doesn't sell many 4wd Pilots in Texas, and the ones they do are loaded out with goodies I could care less about.
Looks like I could have done a little better compared some on here, but This is the best deal I've made on a new car, so I'm pretty happy. I've really screwed myself before on stupid deals and leases. At least I'm learnin', right? lol.
Thanks for all the help!

Do read my message 14394 in the Accord prices paid forum and purchase/read the materials. Then you will know what you are doing for life. (and learnin' real good)

I cut a deal with a local dealer. My neighbor is the sales rep. $5,000.00 off MSRP for EX 2wd. He was $100.00 less than the lowest quote I received.

I've been trying to negotiate on a Honda Pilot in Western TN for a few weeks. Here's the best price that I could negotiate...
Trim: Pilot EX-L 2WD with Appearance Package (Mats+Mudflaps+Pin Stripe) and Wheel Locks
Negotiated Price $26,499
Biz Tax $80
Doc Fee $349
State Tax @ 7% $1,885
Local Tax capped @ $80 $80
Gross $28,893
Tags $117
Out-the-door $29,010
This is about $800 lower than the next best price.
What do you guys think? Anyone else buying in Western TN (50-miles from Memphis)?
Thanks!
What does it mean by dealer rebated 2K,3k etc or the AHFC program? Will it be applicable to buyers with 0 down payment and MSRP discounts from the dealer?
I am planning to take a Honda Pilot 2WD EXL and started shopping recently.
This forum is really great and has wealth of information for prices paid etc.. excellent forum to go through before buying...
thanks!!
I'll entertain anything you have to offer.
Ga. recd 6 quotes. The best one was from Jacksonville, Fl
27600 with the tow pkg installed plus taxes and title. The tow pkg installed was 1024 and is included in the 27600. I am about ready to buy this vehicle wife and I are going for a test drive tomorrow. What does everyone think about this deal? I am new @ this please excuse my post #9128
Livermore CA: $29,989.00
Tax: $2,211.68875
Lic Fee: $291.75
Doc Fee: $55
Total OTD: $32,547.44
Thought the prices would be better at the end of the month. E-mail response received from above dealer indicated that special financing offered through dealer not offered at the internet price. I would like to take advantage of the low 2.9 finance rate; Any thoughts on pursuing this?
Any comments, advice on above quote would be much appreciated. Is it a good ballpark estimate?
I've bought several cars over the years without putting much thought into the deal, but reading this forum and dealing with salesman/dealerships the past three weeks has really turned me off to the whole process. I would like to say more but I am not the type of person to offend people intentially, but I really do not know how some of them sleep at night. I'm sure they'll say it's not the salesmans fault if we don't get the best deal, but I really do not feel you should have to be a jerk and haggle for 2 or 3 weeks to get the honest and best price, there is/should be an honest price for all of us. Maybe I'm wrong, please let me know.
MSRP of $32,540 (standard EXL)
Sale price of $27,400 - I think there is more room considering the price I have been quoted in the above post.
2007 Pilot EXL 2 wheel drive
MSRP $32,540
Selling price of $25,878
O'hara Honda in the Chicago area
Here is the email I received with the quote:
Me,
the price is $25,878 that includes destination and all incentives, Plus tax title and license
most Pilots have added splash guards and wheel locks to them (450 Cost) as for the incentives
2000 dealer cash 500 finance cash ( have to use AHFC to get the 500)
The only reason I am posting this is so someone in the Chicago area has another option.
A dealer with a model moving rapidly in his area may be unwilling to let it go easily. He has to make the profits when he can to make up for the slow movers.
A dealer 40 miles away in a slump may let a few go for $2000 less at the end of a month to make a sales target or in a general move for the store to raise cash for expenses/etc.
No haggle prices generally require a limited number of dealerships with strictly limited areas for the store to be entirely successful doing it. Trying to publish a no haggle price on Fords, Hondas etc will quickly have other dealers underselling it by $200-$500+.
This is the way it works negotiating cars, painting, drywall, construction, and usually everything else substantial in life in a competitive bidding situation.
Read my message 14394 in the accord prices paid forum for useful resources on how to buy a car. It'll help you avoid most of the pitfalls and pain salesmen, etc.
Good Luck

I just want to take a minute to thank those who share their in site and knowledge of how to buy a car and get the best price on this web site, you are truly great people !

It works out better if you get your own financing to take advantage of the 2000 off. Even at your vehicle price, it seems like just 100 bucks more you'll get an awd.
Good luck.
Any thoughts out there??
I may be wrong, but have stumbled upon this issue in my research.
The price I got of $24,590 was an EX 2WD - including destination, but excluding tax, title - so yes, they can go lower (that was $3650 internet discount and $2000 cash incentive) - but they offered me a 5.9% Honda interest rate. One other dealer matched it. Another dealer was $1000 higher, and not prepared to move. The EXL 2WD was $26340, and $28,600 on the road - or OTD, as you say here!(6% sales tax in florida). If they go to $28K, Ill probably take it...
You got a good deal but maybe could have squeezed a couple of extras!
I am still VERY coonflicted. Love Hondas but am concerned about the interior (no woodgrain, column shifter, etc) and the gas milage I hear about on this board. Still looking at Toyota Highlander which seems to have those things the Honda is missing. Anyone have info/opinions on both?
-More that $1K less for similar features even before the customer rebate or 0% financing.
-2 MPG better according to Consumer Reports (~$372 savings/yr) which I felt would make me feel better with my choice as gas prices continue to climb above $4.00.
-Ability to get the features I wanted.
-Head mechanic at a very large Toyota service station near me says that the Highlander is the best made Toyota and his wife bought one also. I'm sure the Pilot is also great.
Can't go wrong with either choice. Suggest you make your choice soon since the deals and availability on the 2007's will probably be much less once the 2008's come out (in July for the Highlander).
I have not been able to come within $2000 of the $28,200 price I was given on the Pilot w/Nav for a Highlander Limited w/Nav.
If you did better would you mind telling me where? I am willing to travel a good deal to save money. I have friends all over the country that I could mooch off, oops, I mean stay with for a couple of days and drive my new car home.
Although I bought a different trim than your looking for, it was $433 below invoice or $1933 if I had taken the $1500 factory to customer rebate. Hope this helps.

I got my Pilot EXL this afternoon for a final price of $28,400 OTD (6% sales tax) with Honda Financing of 5.9% for 60 months. I did a bit more haggling at the dealership and got $300 more off the price I had decided to accept anyway. Even for the last $100 I stood firm and got it.
Overall, Im happy and think we got a pretty good deal... please dont tell me otherwise!!!
Thanks to everyone for your tips and contributions. This is an awesome website and without it we would have got absolutely skinned by the dealers, as we say in Scotland... :-)
Thanks again and good luck!
Did you do strictly internet?
Thanks for your help!
That sounds like a fantastic price to me - $28,045 is $5,500 off MSRP and almost $3000 below invoice.
Best offer I've gotten around here is $2500 below invoice.
I'm newbie to this forum & in market for 4WD EX-L w/Nav. I have few qns. for fellows who have bought pilot with good deals!
1. How to check true invoice price of pilot model? should I go to kbb, carsdirect.com or other site to check true invoice prices?
2. Should I invest in fightingchance.com package? What's your experience?
3. What are the various packages offered by dealer e.g. sport package, appearence package etc. I searched on honda.com under pilot & didn't find any information regarding various packages.
4. Is dealer processing fee, docs. fee necessary? or is it just markup or unnecessary fees added by dealer. Can I negotiate on this?
5. Do I have to go thru dealer for licence & registration of vehicle? Will I save some money If I do the lic. & registration myself?
6. lastly & most important, what's the lowest price you guys have paid for 4WD/EX-L w/NAV.
Thanks in advance!!
Yes as part of this you should flip a dime to the guy for the 39.00 fighting chance package before you INVEST $28,000 (34000 with financing?) on your new car.
The Pilot wholesales for about 10000 off MSRP year one so you want about 6000 off. Last august 7000-8000 off MSRP was the norm with a bit less for the nav and res models. Recently I've seen a few nav and res models go for almost 6000 off if not a little more.
Appearance packages and such are high markup items to boost profit. Sometimes $800 will buy you $120 worth of stuff their cost. Wheel locks, Vin etch, pinstriping and paint sealant combined will rarely cost them more than $160.
License and registration should be done by them for about $100-200 depending on state.
Doc fees vary from 100-500 and are generally pure profit for the dealer. You want their best bid on out the door price (all taxes license and doc fees included) from each of the 10-20 dealers you email/fax toward the end of the month) A 26000 bid with 500 doc fee is superior to a 26600 bid with a 100 doc fee. Simple.
Good Luck

Explain please.
Newbie question. For the Prices quoted by the members on this forum - do these prices include the 2k Honda dealer rebate? I am getting 2007 Pilot AWD EXL for 28k with Honda finance at 7 % APR. Is that a good deal?
Also, are there any good non-Honda financial companies. Cheapest I am getting is Capital One for 5.89% - 36 months.
Thanks
Regarding financing, my credit union, Randolph-Brooks FCU, www.rbfcu.org, in Universal City, TX, is offering 5.25 up to 66 months and 5.85 for 72 months. You may want to check out a credit union in your area. They always seem to have the best rates.
btw, did anyone feel some fluid moving sounds when you drive your pilot? when I drive it locally, i felt some noise coming from back of the car (like you have half gallon of water in a 2 gallon container and the water just move around inside of the bottle, making the noise. Thanks.
Anyone else hear this?
