That sounds good asking for quote via fax. Is there any website where you go and enter VIN# etc. to check detail options of vehicle? & Which dealer you work with in Seattle area?
Sure thing...I think you can run VIN's via the internet but it will probably cost you. If they really want to sell you the car the salesman should get you the info. you want.
The dealership is Renton Honda but I don't think I can post the salesman's name...you can email me and I'll send you a copy of the internet quote I started with.
Good luck everyone...this forum has been fun/educational. It's nice to feel like you got a good deal (even in Seattle) after a lot of hard work and research.
Today got a quote from Hopkins Honda, MN for 2007 Pilot EX-L with Navigation - 28184.00 ( does not include taxes and other fees). Is this a good buy?. They dont have much choices now regarding colors. Is this a good buy. Please advise
Just bought my 07 Honda Pilot EX-L from Boch of Norwood, MA. Negotiated the price over the internet. Felt happy they beat the competitiion's prices. However when I went to the dealership the internet associate left for the night and I was passed to another associate who said they could not find the notes in their sales comments. Had to dicker for a long time and eventually get the deal I was quoted. Good thing I kept my emails.
Went to pick up the car last night with my wife and two kids. I drove 9 miles from the dealership and the VSA warning appeared. Couldn't turn it off. Called sales associate who said to bring it back to run some "tests". Also checked the cruise control and it wasn't working. Lastly when I pulled into the dealership and parked, I couldn't shift out of park. This is a brand new car!!! I told the sales associate I want a new Car b/c this is 3 problems. The steering and the shift problem can't be related. Anyhow the associate told me they couldn't swap out b/c the VIN had been registered and it wasn't a new car any longer. I told him to ask the manager. Said that he would need to talk to the "Truck Manager" who wasn't there b/c they close at 9PM. My question is what actions can I take. I have heard of problems with other Pilots VSA. I don't want a car that's going to have problems. This is why I bought a Honda in the first place.
Most dealerships from chevy to honda have about 10-20 repair bays and expensive equipment that generate about 1/2 the store's profits so good luck escaping from problems. Get the problems fixed, you are far too short of any lemon law stuff and the next one may have the same lights jiggering off and on in 5-30000 miles or worse.
Good luck --jjf

steering problem?? you must have missed that one in your description.
anyway, all the problems you stated can definitely be related. They all rely on input from various brake/speed sensors. I don't think they are the same sensors, however. In any case, it could be one loose wire on the computer, for instance. I wouldn't jump to any conclusions that it is a big deal or multiple issues.

Hi ianfm I have not needed to get any work done it and haven't been able to find specific language in warranty booklet. For me, the price difference was so great I figured I would take the risk. I've had the vehicle over a year and if I recall, warranty was only for 3.
Overall, vehcile runs like a charm but mileage is a lot worse than what I was expecting. 5 to 6 km/litre.
I did contact same dealer about a month ago about importing a honda civic and was advised that they do not sell to Canadians any more.
Is that 2WD or 4WD? Seems like a good price and a great price if it's 4WD. I'm about to buy a Pilot and the best I can seem to get quoted is ~$27,500 for an EX-L 4WD without nav.....
Just bought a 2007 Honda, Pilot EX-L from O'DONNELL HONDA in Ellicott City, Maryland.
Price was $25,998 plus $99 processing, $595 freight, plus taxes (5%) and tags, electronic registration fee and tire recycling fee (total $1601.60).
Total price OTD $28293.60
I requested a quote via Internet and got a prompt reply on Sunday July 8th. Saved $7247 off MSRP. No haggling, no pressure, by far the most hassle free car purchase to date.
When I picked up the car on Wednesday, they threw in the wheel locks. Not an expensive item, but it was a nice touch.
I have had them service my Odyssey for years and would recommend them.
Im looking for AWD EX in SW Ohio. I have seen all the posts and can get no dealer to budge with the incentive and hold back. All I can get is low 27000s ( not including tax/title etc. )for a basic AWD EX, preferably Cherry or Aberdeen green. Is it reasonable for me to ask 27 OTD? I even tried to get accessories and its like pulling teeth. any help or in put is appreciated.
I would try getting quotes from a dealer farther away. It's no big deal if it costs you 200 bucks to travel and get a car for 2 thousand dollars cheaper.
I have a quote right now for an EX 2WD in North Carolina for 23,400. I know that you can do better than 27k on an AWD. You should be able to get around 25-25.5 I would say.
capnd68, I would tlk to T i m M e a d o r at honda east or R i c h C o o k at Performance honda, both dealer shps are in the cincinnati area. Good luck !
I went to their website and checked the inventory to see what they had in stock. I knew actual inventory would be different, but probably wouldn't have bothered if none were listed.
Under the menu option at the top, I clicked on CONTACT US and selected QUICK QUOTE. They sent me a quote within a couple of hours on Sunday, a day they are closed. I did not suggest a price or try to haggle.
Prior to requesting the quote, I had read a post from someone that brought from Brown's Honda (also nearby) after they beat the quote offered from College Park Honda. I was going to the price he paid when negotiating for mine but did not need to. The quote from O'donnell's was (a little) better, so I opted to buy at that price (seemed fair enough) and keep the transaction stress free.
FYI, according to printed inventory at the dealer, there aren't a lot of 2007 models left.
FWIW, I went in to Continental Honda today, just for a test drive. I casually asked whether he can do a good deal on the Pilot and he immediately offered $4000 off Invoice. I confirmed that he was referring to the Manufacturer Invoice (KBB, Edmunds) and NOT the dealer invoice which is typically marked up by a few hundred dollars for Regional Marketing, etc. He confirmed YES!
The Pilot's pricing is quite attractive but the vehicle felt "blah", especially after test driving a Mazda CX-9 GT AWD right next door. The Pilot comes in $7k cheaper than a comparably equipped CX-9! :surprise:
I just got a quote from O'Hare Honda for a 07 Pilot EX-L AWD -- $26007 (includes dest fee). A handful of other area dealerships said they couldn't beat it (including Continental), and I think Castle Honda also matched this price. That was it.
Is this a good deal? Do I keep looking, or just buy? If I buy, what's the next step to make sure there are no surprises when closing the deal?
The only surprise you will on see from o'Hare Honda is the wheel lock and spash guard, They listed for $399 and $199. they say they cost you more if you want to remove it, if you don't buy it from them.
But I only offer them $150 for it and they say okay.
Contacted dealership multiple times yesterday. Eventually had to ask service manager to provide phone calls regardless if they had any updates. They complied with this request.
They told us the problem was the brake light switch shorted resulting in problems with the ABS/TCS, VSA control unit, cruise control, and the parking lockout.
Thought they found the cause of the short yesterday. Test drove and said not problem. Kept the car overnight and it shorted again this morning during another test drive.
I sent an email to the general manager on Thursday morning explaining my concerns. No response.
I left a voice message this morning to please read my email and respond. Awaiting a call back.
Buy it now. I think at this point we're all just quibbling over a couple of hundred dollars. In your case, however, you've got an awesome deal on the table. I couldn't find anyone in a 350 mi. radius to me to go lower on an AWD EX-L than 27,300. I would take your deal in a heartbeat.
I just purchased a 2007 Honda Pilot EX-L 4WD (white exterior and camel leather interior) for $27,201 plus $99 doc fee for a total of $27,300 OTD (McAlester, OK). Of course I still have to pay 3.75% of purchase price as Oklahoma excise tax plus $95 for tag and registration. How does this size up with other Honda Pilot EX-L 4WD deals out there?
It was an in-stock vehicle. EX-L without RES and without NAV.
Here is a snip from the quote I was e-mailed:
"From your inquiry, I understand you are interested in the 2007 Honda, Pilot EX-L . Our Internet price on this vehicle is $25,998 plus $99 processing fee, any options, freight, taxes and tags. Our price is good for 7 days and in stock units."
I followed up with a request for a quote with the DVD. This is a snip from their reply:
"The price for the EX-L with DVD is $27,416 plus $99 processing fee, any options, freight, taxes and tags. Again the price is good for in stock units and for 7 days."
7500 off MSRP is very good (or is it 7700?). Finalize the deal over the phone (write it up) with the sales manager (s) with VIN# all dealer fees, and taxes. Get the bottom line otd price. Have the manager inspect it himself for delivery for any nicks and scratches if you have to drive.
If you want email 10 other dealerships (not a handful) in a radius around your home from the honda website to see if they can beat your deal -$200 or so off msrp. (No use in trying just to get underbid by 50 or matched again).
If you have a trade try to hold out for kbb or edmunds outstanding for a newer vehicle. Helps that you have two who matched to work with.
Good luck --jjf

I am wondering how some people were able to get price quotes so low. Could it be that some dealers are overstocked to the point that they are selling them $4000 or more below invoice?? The best offers I've seen are $3500 off invoice in the NY/NJ area.
Where are you located?? In Chicagoland area, the best price I could get on this same style was $25,412. And several other area dealers couldn't even match. And the one dealer says he could "get" the color I want (not in stock?). Should I be wary?
Thanks!! I've gotten an OTD price with a breakdown of fees by email. But now I'm concerned about all these add-ons I'm reading about. Since the dealer has to get my particular color from somewhere else--should he still be able to fax over this VIN info, etc. ? I want this OTD price I got to be it. Not a penny more. Isn't that what OTD means?! http://a332.g.akamai.net/f/332/936/12h/www.edmunds.com/media/townhall/webxicons/emotorcons/emo_grin.gif
I don't think I can post a specific name of a salesman...if you want to email me I can get forward you some information. It's definitely tough in the Seattle area to hit these prices I've seen in this forum. The local dealer in Eastern, WA wouldn't move below $30,300 (and acted like the incentive deal didn't exist) for an EX-L w/o NAV or RES.
OTD means price and taxes + all fees. If this is the one you want, time to drop the emails and nail down the price, vin and write it up with the sales manager or if he turns you back over to the internet guy, with him by phone. Internet is great for narrowing down from 20 to 1 but semi finals go by phone.

I am considering buying 07 Pilot from O'hare Honda. To do so, I must travel fly into Chicago. Before doing this, I just wanted to confirm that you (and others who want to give their opinions) had a good buying experience without surprises. Thanks.
Thanks, jjf. I did get the OTD then, but I think they will try to add in wheel-locks and mud flaps like someone else mentioned. Should I discuss this over the phone? And because I want a color they'll have to get, I'll have to put a deposit down before I get the VIN info. If there are a lot of miles on it, what's the next step? THANK YOU!
Thanks for all your inputs, this is awesome forum. Here is my deal,I got it from Landmark Honda in Alexandria.
I did not take any extra options except 7Yr-120000 warrenty.I bargained for 26k OTD unfortunately i took warranty that guy gave to me 5.9 APR for 5 years amount of 10800.I paid 16000 cash.(Really i didn't get this warranty calculation Still i think i got good deal)

If any body need more information please let me know.
What to you guys think. Did i get good deal or not?
Jillyrene, If you are not familiar with Castle or Continental my advice would be to steer clear of both. Shady. We visited one of them and my wife couldn't get out of there fast enough.
Incidentally, we just bought an EX from Joliet Honda and had a good expereince. They warned that we might get stuck with the add ons because we had a color preference they had to look for, but I just told them I didn't want that tack on stuff and they worked it out.
I would not pay extra for pinstripe, splash guards etc. You can get the splash guards for 30-40 bucks after the fact.

I contacted O'Donnell for EX-L AWD w/NAV and they quoted $30,994 OTD but only for what they have in stock.
Anyone else seeing that the deals aren't as good for EX-L AWD w/NAV? (Thinking there is a smaller supply of these.)
