Seems like a good price...haven't found anyone here in NY willing to go that low yet, mostly b/c no one seems to have many vehicles left. I think I may pick one up today for $27150 including a few throw-in dealer options like mats, splash guards, etc.

Used Conicelli Honda (Norristown exit of Rt 476)

$26,250 plus destination, doc, taxes and NJ four year registration

    out the door 29,250

I can give you the salesperson I used if you email me

I can also highly recommend DCH in Old Bridge NJ

It came down to a slightly better price and a closer drive from South Jersey

Also got 6.84 % for 6 yrs financing. Had 6.99% from ELOAN but dealer says they dont accept financing from them

Thanks to everyone on this forum - the information was priceless.

    Hi Namhoon,

I bought a Pilot EX-L AWD (no Navi or DVD) last week. Do a search for my post (ram8 is userrname). I provided my exact cost breakdown. I worked w/ Menlo Honda. The salesperson was very good to work with - honest, knowledgeable, and no surprises. My OTD price was $29,055 (which includes Tax, Title, License, destination, & documentation) so it was the final all in price I paid.

This forum is a great resource and I appreciate your feedback on my request.

Can anyone advise me what price to pay for a 2007 Pilot LX 4WD?

I am located in Northern Virginia. So far I have one quote from a local dealer:

The Vehicle:2007 Honda Pilot LX 4WD

    Your Special Internet Price ----$22,588
    Freight-------------------$595
    Appearance Package---$595
    Processing Fee----------$289
    -VA-Tax------------------3.2%
    -VA-Tags-----------------$48.50

Your Total Out The Door Price-----$24,889.44

    Does this look reasonable?

    thanks.

I noted dougnelson's problems with Boch in Norwood, which doesn't really surprise me. I went into the Honda dlr. in Fresh Pond Cambridge, & they seemed pretty crazy & high-pressure. Went to Herb Chambers in Burlington once or twice.....not sure what to think about them.

Anyone besides Bernardi anyone recommends? Any easy-to-deal-with Honda Dlrs? I'd like to at least take a test drive w/o being treated like an idiot & given the Hard Sell.

    TIA!

Just bought 07 Pilot EX AWD Cherry color, no extras. Bought from Autofair Honda in NH. The deal was OK, but I think if we didn't have an 04 Subaru to trade in it would be better.
They gave us big sob story they were making nothing on the deal. If it wasn't for this site we would have not been close to this deal, because we tried at couple other dealers before finding this site and they wanted to give us nothing for our trade.

$26166 OTD including fees before trade in.
$23188 final price including trade & 500 down.

And then my wife was talked into the ResistAll fabric and paint protection service by the F&I person. Does anyone have any comments on that protection? Should we try to cancel it?

In July 2006, I bought an 06 EX with 2.9% for 36 months.

I'm hoping Honda lowers the interest rate with the 3500 cash back on the 21st.
  • jcabrera4jcabrera4 Member Posts: 34
    6.8% for 6years?
Thats an long time to pay for a car.
    That about 5grand in interest.
  • jcabrera4jcabrera4 Member Posts: 34
Don't waste your money on fabric and paint protection.

Treat the fabric with a can of scotchguard.
Give the car a few coats of Zaino and then use it every 3 to 4 months and the car will have a great shine.
  • trmend1trmend1 Member Posts: 59
Simoniz is easily available at any automotive shop like Pepboys, etc. I know the F&I guy says those places don't stock the "professional" stuff... but they do. It just involves your elbow grease, and for the new generation of wax/acrylic protectives, not much grease is needed. As for seat protection, a can of scotchguard should do the same.

Are you saying you only got 2 or 3 thousand for your 04 Subaru? If so, what on earth did you do to it?

Thanks to all of the great info on this forum we just secured our new Pilot from Howdy Honda in Austin. 2007 2WD EXL-RES in Nimbus Gray (which is the color we wanted) for $26,900 including Dest Charge. For those looking in TX, David McDavid in both Irving (Dallas) and Houston and Gillman Houston were very aggressive on their internet quotes. We used those quotes to leverage the deal at Howdy as we live in Austin and they were great to deal with. This forum was instrumental in providing the intelligence needed.

I am sorry for all the agony you've gone through with your buying experience. I went through that 4 years ago, (a horrendous buying experience that is) and it really leaves a long lasting bad taste in the back of the mouth. What boggles me the most is that Honda's reputation for reliability is very strong, and when these little goof ups happen, it wouldn't hurt the dealership to do a complete swap out immediately. That's what happens with most any other retail item. If it is defective, you can return it, no questions asked and either receive a refund or exchange. I think the worst thing in your case was the blatant and outright lack of integrity with the sales team and dealership standing behind any of their associates' word. Thank you for sharing your experience.. it has given those in this forum your invaluable advice. I have learnt that when someone is going to give you something in writing, I will be sitting in the Managers office until I get it, even as aggrevating as it is. If I leave, all bets are off.

Honda HQ should be calling you soon to do their evaluation of your experience... you give'm hell!

    Enjoy your Pilot...

    Cheers,
    T

    Hi ra_1976,

This is for 2007 EX-AWD. I will send you the sales person on your email. The OTD price was 26751.50.

The internet rep says that that number on a cashiers check will get me out the door. That doesn't include tax or title. Should I fight to go lower or is this pretty good?
  • homerj227homerj227 Member Posts: 21
The lowest I could get them to go around here (NY) was $27,150, so that seems like a very good price. Most dealers were a bit higher and would not match this price. The issue is that there aren't many left, so the dealers that have a couple on the lot aren't feeling like they need to give them away just yet and start giving back part of the holdback, etc. If you find a dealer that still has 50 of the 07s in stock, then you may be able to get a bit lower. But, the price you got is a good one...see if they will take $27k even or throw in some accessories that you want (my dealer would do $27,150 and include all weather mats, cargo mat and mud flaps, about $300 in accessories that probably cost them very little to give away).

    Hi homerj227,
what dealer in NY do you deal with?
    thx
  • homerj227homerj227 Member Posts: 21
Brewster Honda....not a huge fan. I'm definitely not buying my next car from them.
  • us1hvdus1hvd Member Posts: 7
    thx a lot.
Do you remember if they had any 4WD EX-L with Navi left?
    Also,
can you post the details of your deal?
    Appreciate your help.
  • homerj227homerj227 Member Posts: 21
I'm pretty sure they had no Navi left. They had plenty w/ DVD and one EX w/ neither Navi nor DVD, but it had a large dent in it.

They will do a little better than invoice minus $3,500, i.e. beat it by a couple of hundred bucks and throw in mats, cargo tray, mud guards.

For those who have GEICO insurance, there is a Mechanical Breakdown coverage that is similar to an extended warranty.

    http://www.geico.com/auto/safety/mbi.htm#exclusions

You have to buy it before 15 months or 15,000 miles and comes with a $250 deductible with a 7 year/100,000 coverage. It came out to less than $80 dollars per year for me to have.

So for those who have it, check it out.

I just purchased a Honda Pilot EXL 4WD with Navigation, tint and pin strip for for 29,343, MRSP was 36,500 had them throw in the rear mud flaps. Easy!!!!! Easy!!!!! and pleasant transaction at Frank Kent Honda in Fort worth, Texas. I would highly reccomend them. The salesman Billy was very down to earth and easy to work with. Absolutely this was the the easiest and best experience ever. No haggle and the business office lady was very nice. They could not beat my credit union % rate, she told me up front and did not even try to get me to use one of their banks.

I'm 6'4, 225lbs, and need an SUV with ample leg room. Will the pilot fit the bill? Have any of you tall drivers gotten one?

I am also hearing about a new dealer to customer incentive of $3500 cash back starting July 31. Is this true? Does anyone have any inside information?

Also... I'm looking for the base model 2007 LX edition. Trying to get it around 20K out the door with incentives... is this possible?

    Thanks!

I'm 6'5" and we owned an '03 Pilot for 2.5 years. I fit quite well, although I would have really appreciated a telescoping steering wheel. Leg room was definitely not a problem. HOwever, I don't know if the LX will work for you. I find a power seat is pretty much essential for my height.

It looked like many/most of the Pilots I saw this week were made in 11/06 and 12/06. Not sure you have anything to worry about.

As for the guy that mentioned the $3,500 incentive, there is a $3,500 incentive to the dealer right now.
  • pilot_or_toypilot_or_toy Member Posts: 10
I'm 6'3 and the 2007 Pilot LX is just fine. Instead of spending an extra $2000 on an EX, I spent $200 of window tinting and $500 on the tow package -tranny and p. steering coolers, hitch and wiring. The best offer I have received in S. Florida was for ~$20,600 (before taxes and fees)which was quickly offered to be beat by a few other dealers; total OTD was just over $22,000 (incl. 6% sales tax). Only one dealer, Sherwood Honda in Delray had plenty of LXs in all colors (+tons of EXs and EX-Ls); other dealers had a only a few LXs on hand.

My 2007 LX was just offloaded from a transporter when I purchased it two weeks ago; date of manufacture is 6/2007

What experience does anyone have buying a pilot around the Waco, Dallas/FW or Austin areas? Also, what kind of actual city/hwy gas mileage are you seeing on the 2wd and the awd models?
  • rainman2rainman2 Member Posts: 6
For those of you looking to buy a Pilot in ATL area.
Paid $26850.00 OTD, I was impressed with the over all transaction process.
  • alfatomalfatom Member Posts: 1
When I saw that the Pilots had a $3500 cash to dealer. I knew it was time to buy. I had been looking at the Veracruz and Edge but with the discounts the Pilot was hard to pass up. With proven reliability and resale, the Pilot was clear choice. I ended up getting a 2007 EXL 2wd for $25800 - $27400 OTD (6.25 sales tax) The surprising thing is that most of the dealers I contacted insisted on the $250 documentation fee that Ohio caps. One of them even insisted that this was REQUIRED by law and if a dealer didn't charge it, he could be guilty of something. What a bunch of total crap. I checked the Ohio DMV and found that as of June 30, 2006, Ohio caps any documentation fees at $250 but the it says right on the site...

"It is important to note that the dealership is not required to charge the document preparation fee.

The Department of Public Safety, Bureau of Motor Vehicles did not play any role in the adoption of the amendment to section 1317.07, and receives no portion of the document preparation fee. Instead, the fee is retained by the motor vehicle dealer."

This is pure profit for the dealer, so there are the facts. I didn't pay it. I offered to pay the dealer $100/hour for all the time it took to process the documentation.

    abhiku,

carsdirect.com are crroks. T went to their website and checked the price for a Pilot EX-L with DVD. I liked the price so I filled out the information they asked for. The next day a person from carsdirect.com and gave a price higher than what was shown on their website. When I confronted the salesperson he apologized and said he was wroung and quoted me a price $500 less. Then I told him the price I was quoted by 2 dealerships in Orange County, he said they will beat by $200. Carsdirect.com was haggling like any other crooked used car saleman. I could not believe it. These guys were supposed to give you the lowest possibe price.

I don't trust carsdirect.com anymore. I am going to try my luck with carmax.

    good luck.

We were given a quote of $23,900 for an EX model on 7-6. (Red, the color I really really wanted) In hindsight we should have taken it, but we were unhappy with what was offered for our trade ($9000 for our '03 Pilot) Eight days and an additional $500 for our trade later, all we could find were EX-L or LX models. EX-L seemed out of our price range. Given a quote of $22077 on a black LX adding the options of side steps and tint. DH wasn't happy with the offer as we were losing so many options that we had on our '03 Pilot. Took the plunge today and drove away in a silver EX-L @ $26700 plus tax title and license and a $50 doc. fee.
I really wanted red and my second choice was blue, but the silver is growing on me :)

What the heck licence fee for in below sample quote?

if this refers to DMV new registration fees that is no more than $50 for 6000lbs vehicle in WA state.

    Invoice: 30,696
Options: 200 (wheel locks and mudflaps)
    sub total: 30,896

    incentive 3100

    Total 27796
    Tax (8.9%) 2474
    Licence 200
    Doc Fee 35

    OTD 30505

'07 Pilot EX-L-4WD-RES (Steel Metalic Blue)

Retail price 26960.87, Fright 595.00, Sales Tax (5%)1382.79, Total OTD 29500.00

The car has wheel lock and mud guard. I finally bought it from Landmark Honda at Alexandria, VA. The salesman was very kind. Both Sport Honda at Silver springs, MD and Northwest Honda at Owings Mills, MD gave me the second best price, $29,600 OTD. Don't go to Fairfax Honda at VA. The new car salesman was very unkind.

We just bought our 2nd Honda at Honda Cars of Boston in Everett (Rt 99.) They're pretty fair - we had some not so great experiences in Cambridge, Lowell & at Boch also & will probably never return to those dealerships. It's always a challenge when you have a trade-in.

Also, have a friend who bought an Odyssey at Atamian in Tewksbury, she was really pleased with them.
    Good Luck!
