I'll add that while I really liked the GM Lambda platform and drove both the Buick and the Acadia, when the price of the Pilot came in $8 - 9,000 less than the Acadia, it was a very easy decision. The GMC dealer I was shopping only had two or three Acadia on the lot on a given day, and they're selling them pretty quickly. Not much arm-twisting to be done from the consumer's side when they're moving that briskly. I think the Lambdas are a little quieter and ride a little smoother, but it remains to be seen for how long they'll stay smooth and quiet. It's entirely possible that in a couple of years they'll rattle like BBs in a tin bucket.

I just bought a new 2007 Honda Pilot LX 4WD last weekend (San Jose, CA, paid $23k). It had 30 mi already on it. This is my first new car purchase. Dealer said 30 mi is typical, is this so? Thanks.
  • homerj227homerj227 Member Posts: 21
Yes, 30 miles is totally normal.

I think we got about as good a deal as possible yesterday. $21,788 before tax ($24,544 invoice minus $3500 dealer incentive plus $595 destination plus $149 doc fee). All done on the internet. Thanks to everyone here who posted their advice along the way!
  • mhm63mhm63 Member Posts: 5
I think it should under 10 miles. you paid $23k out of door? The best price I can get for out of door is around $25000.
  • mibubmibub Member Posts: 4
So what was your base price? I have been quoted 27818 before tax, title, fees etc. otd 30287 - I live in an 8% county
  • mhm63mhm63 Member Posts: 5
Is that include 2 years reg. and new plate?
  • mibubmibub Member Posts: 4
Can anyone tell me what a good base price is for the 2007 honda pilot EX-L with Navigation? (with the 3500 dealer incentive0
  • oldbirdoldbird Member Posts: 6
    It is!

I went back to my dealer for a small service this morning.
I found their 2007 Pilot are all gone. Only Pilots on their lot are all 2008 models.

    where do you live?

    Chicago area.

Other than checking their inventory, I saw a couple walked away while a salesman tried to sale them a 2008 Pilot.

Bought a 2007 Honda Pilot EX-L 4WD in Black (Saddle Interior) from Livermore Honda (SF Bay Area) today for $26349 + TTL. The salesman was extremely nice and it was smooth transaction. He gave the quote on the phone.

If you are doing a wait and watch for prices to go down, I would suggest to act fast as the dealerships are moving the pilot off the lot pretty fast. It was getting difficult to buy one in Black.

I was originally interested in one with Nav but the lowest quote I got was for $29k. Livermore Honda gave a quote for ~$28400 but didn't have any in stock.

Good Luck to everyone looking to buy. Thanks to everyone posting their buying experiences on this forum, it was very useful to know what others were paying.

Purchased my Black Pilot today in Sunnyvale for $21900. OTD price including TTL $24090.

Also received a quote for a beige 07 Pilot Lx 4WD from another bay area dealership for $21400; which is the lowest I was able to find after 10 quotes and 15 phone calls.

    Good luck all!

  • ondamanondaman Member Posts: 21
this is good deal Richard. Paid mine 1k more 7 days ago in Sunnyvale Honda (El Camino and Mary).
  • welldonewelldone Member Posts: 15
Yours is a really good price. I got mine for $27,696 + TTL yesterday. It was the last one on the lot but there are still some 2007 2WDs. It was an exceptional buying experience at Howdy Honda in Austin. The salesperson was extremely nice, I would strongly recommend Howdy Honda to anyone in Austin.

I would like to thank to everybody for their contribution to this forum that made my life easy.

Talking to a Honda Internet salesman, this is what he told me.

Pilots are drying up in the NY/NJ/CT area. It is getting harder and harder to find one. The 2008 Pilot were suppose to come out around Sept 2007. Honda stopped producing the '07s a little earlier than normal and started with the 08. The reason is that in the spring of 2008, Honda will come out with the redesigned Pilot.
  • 510avatar510avatar Member Posts: 3
Ondaman, The price should be even lower in one month. However, there will be limited quantities in stock and may end up with a test drive vehicle or colors you do not like. I paid $500 more for a black one vs. a beige one.

Just received another quote for $22,189 for 07 Honda Pilot LX 4WD.

I got a quote for $20,500 for LX 4WD Black, exclude freight fee $595, doc fee $480, tax and title. I going to buy it tomorrow.

I'm not sure if this is the best place to post this (please let me know). What have folks seen at a good price for the 96 month (8 year)/120 mile HondaCare extended warranty for a 2007 Honda Pilot 4WD EX-L?

I'm in the Seattle, WA area. Can I purchase this from any dealership after I purchase the Pilot?

    Thanks!

I read somewhere that it's not good to take delivery of your vehicle the day you sign the papers and such. Can anyone tell me if this is true and why??

I'm to be picking up my EXL 4WD this week, (OTD price of 28,270.49) I've put a deposit down (this was all done remotely), now I'll be going to dealership to sign papers, possibly get financed through Honda, etc.

What is the best way to get through all this? If I decide to get financing, what happens next? If I decide to go cash, does this change things other than the number of papers to sign? Should I leave with the vehicle regardless of which way I go?

This may seem like foolish questions, but I don't want any surprises and I know everyone here has the experience and knowledge I'm looking for! Thank you!

Where you live? For that good price?
Here all 2007 EXL are gone.
  • eyegirleyegirl Member Posts: 4
The best price I was quoted, including 6% sales tax and Tag/Title, was $27,430 OTD. They won't budge a penny more. I haven't even mentioned my trade in. I've never traded in a car before. Any advice? I think my car is in good condition for a 97 Mustang V6. What do you think I should get for the trade-in? Thanks in advance.

    How much you paid?

I just bought a 2007 black Pilot LX 4WD today from Curry Honda at Atlanta, GA. The final price is $22243, including $20,440 for the car, freight fee $595, doc fee $480, tax(3.35%, Alabama)and title. I made a down pay of $8000 and got a 6.25% APR for 36 months.

We were looking for a 2wd EXL. After searching she decided only Silver would make her happy. I searched, but was not able to find a Silver EXL, and decided to get one with the RES. We paid $27,300 in Houston.
  • adscft1108adscft1108 Member Posts: 2
    Hi 8sparkplugs

Which dealership did you go? And are there any more 07 Pilot EX-L's left on their lots? Thanks a lot. :)
  • 8sparkplugs8sparkplugs Member Posts: 111
Russell and Smith Honda. I think they did, but am not sure. We were only looking for one in Silver, so didn't really check for other colors. I think they had another Silver EXL w/ Rear Entertainment System. That was the sales price, it didn't include any taxes and fees. Our out-the-door price was almost 29,300.

I was just strung along for over 2 weeks thinking I was getting my Pilot in the color I wanted. And they called today saying that the other dealer they were trading with already sold it. Could anyone give me an idea of what REALLY happened??

Now I'm back to square one and PISSED. Any suggestions on what to do?? I want the green -- is this color hard to come by?
  • homerj227homerj227 Member Posts: 21
Did you pay a deposit? Either way, really, you are probably just going to have to forget about it and try to find another 2007 somewhere. This has happened to me before and the only way to handle it is to really move on and not get too stressed. Some dealers suck.
  • jillyrenejillyrene Member Posts: 33
Yes, to get the color I wanted they had me put down $500 to make the dealer trade -- it wasn't extra and they'll refund my money if I don't want to buy another car from them, so that's good -- but I was just relieved that after all this time & effort I thought my work was done!

If I can't find the color I want at the price they were quoting (another dealership said they couldn't even come close) -- do I just suck it up and still buy from them??

either way you're right though -- it's not worth getting too stressed. :)

Your post heading would seem to indicate your displeasure with O'Hare; if I were in your shoes I would have to find another dealer, if for no other reason than I'm petty enough to not want to give any money to a dealership that isn't consumer-friendly. 'Timing has a lot to do with the success of a rain dance,' and Sue36 and I had entirely different experiences in local dealerships recently, and I think it was attributable to who we saw and when. She got a good deal from a dealer who offered me $1100 off MSRP, and I got $3600 off invoice from a dealer who didn't give her a very good offer. Ultimately I think we both got deals we liked from dealerships with whom we were comfortable doing business. I hope you can do the same, and good luck. Don't let the dealership take the fun out of getting a new vehicle!

    cbrunson,

$3600 off invoice??????????!!!!!!!!! Was that a demo??? I don't know of any dealer who would sell a new vehicle for $3600 below invoice. That's well below dealer cost even after deducting floorplan, spiffs, incentives, and holdback.
  • srthomas68srthomas68 Member Posts: 4
Does anyone have recent pricing on the '07 Pilot EX-L with Navigation in the National Capital Region (Maryland, DC, Northern VA)? My firstborn has arrived a few months early and I want to buy a more practical and reliable vehicle in the next few weeks.
  • homerj227homerj227 Member Posts: 21
$3500+ off invoice is pretty standard right now...My dealer went for it w/ little negotiation, since they are getting 3500 back from honda and a 2 or 3 percent holdback, etc.
  • srthomas68srthomas68 Member Posts: 4
Is that in the Illinois area or nationally?
  • delta737hdelta737h Member Posts: 626
Wow, I didn't realize that. Thanks
  • jillyrenejillyrene Member Posts: 33
ya, I'll be finding a different dealer. I just can't buy from them after all this. Are you in Chicagoland area? Can I ask what dealership you went to? I've already called a few and they have my color but are about $1000 more. This just seems criminal!
  • iwbr99iwbr99 Member Posts: 8
Last weekend 4 Honda dealers in the Los Angeles/Orange County area quoted me prices that were $3710 to $3812 below the invoice on 07 EX-L. Those were their first quotes, no haggling at all.

Edmund's show that the TMV for the 07 EX-L Pilot is about $3100 below the invoice. Do not accept anything less than this.
  • rinjacrinjac Member Posts: 7
I got it from Curry Honda.
  • 8sparkplugs8sparkplugs Member Posts: 111
I got a little over $3600 off of invoice. It didn't even take that long to get them to that price.
  • delta737hdelta737h Member Posts: 626
I was just surfing this forum. When Researching vehicles, I always check edmunds or KBB for MSRP/Invoice, incentives, etc. Most manufacturer to dealer cash incentives are typically in the $1,000-$2,000 range. And so, I was shocked to learn that there is a $3,500 dealer cash incentive on the pilot. Actually, that's the highest I've ever seen.
