I know they have one at West Side Honda in Knoxville, TN if that helps you, but they did not seem to willing to deal on it when my husband and I were there the other day.
  • betsybetsy Member Posts: 7
I can't quite figure out what a good price would be on an '08. I know the incentives are not there, but truthfully it is exactly the same vehicle other than the 2008 designation. Any thoughts?

    Hello canadianpilot,

What could be different buying a vehicle and ship to other state? I know I don't need to pay tax here in CA. How about other fees like Title, License, and doc fees?

    Please email me at pin2000_01@yahoo.com

    Thanks
  • canadianpilotcanadianpilot Member Posts: 7
I ended up finding my vehicle on Autotrader.com... it listed which dealerships still had what I was looking for. I then called around each dealership for online quotes. Than I found a shipping company and got quotes from them. It was a little more work than I was willing to do, but it's worth it. As for the fees, I don't have to pay CA state tax because it was shipped out of state... You will have to pay your state tax when you register it in you own state (In my case when I bring it into Canada 13%) The only other fee I was charged was doc $55 and transfer licence plate $20.00 (I think) Which is included in the $27,600 No destination fees. I'm just hoping and praying there are NO surprises when I pick up the vehicle from the shipping co. Good Luck.

It looks like Honda gives $3500 off invoice for dealers. But the quote I got for the LX or EX 2WD model is just slightly over $2500 off invoice. Is it normal? Does anybody get $3500 off invoice for these models?
  • 1hhead1hhead Member Posts: 18
YES! I found on this site that a month ago dealers were actually going $3500 to $4K UNDER INVOICE AND HOLDBACK on higher equipment level Pilots. I came in around $3100 under invoice including destination and of course found a deal on this forum from exact same dealership and EX-L 2WD where someone came in $4K under the invoice. :( In my case, I bought the last 07 EX-L on the lot 3 weeks after the sweeter deal I saw on the forum so I didn't have much negotiating leverage. The sales mgr knew he had a relatively rare commodity on his hands and used it in the negotiations. Such is business...

So... if you see multiple 07s on the lot where you shop, stick to $3500 under invoice. If you only see 1 or 2 on the lot, then ask yourself "Do you feel lucky???". Hope it helps.

Does the $3500 off invoice include destination charge? If not, should I pay something like $3500 - $595 (destination charge) below invoice?
  • hpl_buyerhpl_buyer Member Posts: 8
Most of the 2007 ones are gone and can't find the right color one, I have to go for 2008 model. The best quote I received for a 2008 Honda Pilot EXL 4WD with Navigation is :
    Sale Price - $32,271
    Destination & Handling Fee - $595
    Document Fee - $58.48
    Chrome Side Steps - $838
Front & Rear Bumper Trim Garnish - $647
    Rear Splash Guards - $93
    Sales Tax (6.5%) - $2,242.66
New License Plates - $143 ($80 to transfer old plates)
    Total Cost - $36,888.14

The sale price seems to be the invoice value. Pls let me know if I could find a better deal around the Chicago area.
  • 1hhead1hhead Member Posts: 18
Honda nickel and dimes the dealer by adding destination so consider it part of the "invoice" for practical purposes. So consider the $3500 off including destination. Then of course the dealer nickel and dimes you for a "doc fee" anywhere between $200 to as much as $600. Or as a wise man once said:

"The big fleas have little fleas with yet smaller fleas to bite 'em.
And so it goes, on and on, infinitum!

Could somebody please confirm if the promotion will end this month or last until all 07 Pilots clear out?

    Thanks
  • batrachianbatrachian Member Posts: 13
Could you please share the info where you bought your car? A dealer I talked to refuse to sell cars to be shipped out of state. Does dealer lose anything for selling cars this way?
  • canadianpilotcanadianpilot Member Posts: 7
I dealt with Powey Honda in San Deigo... Brynda... who, so far has been great. I know they still have a few left. I should be getting my pilot within the next 2 weeks, I'll keep you all posted on the delivery. As for them losing money, I have NO idea... I know I got it for the price I wanted to pay.
  • batrachianbatrachian Member Posts: 13
Dealer like to charge me $395 for wheel lock, splash guard, and cargo tray. I think it is too much but I don't know where to look up the price. Could somebody please help me?

I just got a price of 2008 Pilot base model for invoice + $500. Is this a good deal? I am in CT.

    Thanks
  • canadianpilotcanadianpilot Member Posts: 7
I had mine thrown into the price including all season mats and bug deflector.

By the way... POWAY honda has one EX-L 4x4 in Nimbus Grey and one Black with grey in. I check for the Black with Tan saddle interior and she said they are only 3 left in the states and very hard to come by. Good Luck

How much was the invoice price?
  • budalbbudalb Member Posts: 5
abhiku: The invoice price is $26,855. The offer is $27,355 including destination charge. Plus I have a trade in estimate $4,500 (2000 Toyota Camry LX, ~98.7k, between fair and good condition). Is this a reasonable deal? I just can't find any 2007 model in my region.
  • abhikuabhiku Member Posts: 124
    Is it 2WD VP trim?

I'm trying for get fightingchance package for 2008 model and its not available yet. Most of the sites also doesn't have invoice pricing for 2008 model.

I'm currently searching the country for a 2007 EXL-RES, 4wd in gray, silver, or black. I'm getting good quotes on 2wd, but no luck in finding 4wd. Anyone know of any out there or if they're all sold?

    Thanks!

I'm thinking of buying a new 2008 Pilot this year. Currently drive a Dodge Dakota quad cab-2WD, 4.7V8 and drive almost entirely highway commute to and from work. Also own a 2005 EX Accord with leather. I've never owned a 4WD vehicle, and I don't recall ever being in the situation where I wished for 4WD. In Kansas, we don't have that many snowy mountains to scale! We've always got along fine with front wheel drive or a little more weight in the pickup. There doesn't seem to be a great difference (2WD vs. 4WD Pilot) in MPG, and the Cylinder Deactivation seems more appealing with most of my driving.
Any input or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Wildcat22,

Check cleobay.com and www.reliancehonda.com, both show 07 4wd online but I haven't visited them. BTW, if you come across a good price on a CRV let me know.

    Good luck,
  • budalbbudalb Member Posts: 5
abhiku: It is a VP AWD.
  • marlynnmarlynn Member Posts: 11
You can try Pauly Honda in Libertyville, IL (talk to Mary). Check out www.paulyhonda.com. They are showing one 2007 Honda Pilot Auto Leather 4WD w/ RES left in black however it may be gone as I was told on Friday that most of their inventory is sold. We had a very good experience dealing with them.
  • digiodigio Member Posts: 1
www.jimwhitehonda.com (Maumee, Ohio). They had one a couple of days ago.

I have a quote of 27400 + tax and tag for a EX-L w/RES but they don have the color I wanted.

Other dealer in the area have the color I want but the car has been in display and has 70 miles on it. Any idea what could be a fair price for this one?
  • marlynnmarlynn Member Posts: 11
Is it AWD? $27,400 is a good price for the color you want even with 70 miles. It is very difficult to locate the color and model you want right now. I had to travel 7 hours to get the color I wanted and it was the only one in a 15 state radius of my home. You can try to get $300-$400 more off or ask for all weather mats or another option you want. Talk to a sales manager. I just wouldn't hesitate too much as there's not a lot to choose from and dealers are aware of this.
  • apwoodrapwoodr Member Posts: 3
Honda doesn't post the prices of accessories. You should try google and ebay to get an idea what they go for and see if the dealer will match.
  • apwoodrapwoodr Member Posts: 3
I just bought an 07 last week in Chicago area. They are going fast. I was told by one manager that the 08's will probably have the same type of rebates at the end of this year due to the 2009 model coming in early 2008. If you can wait a few more months, you'll probably get one for a steal.
  • apwoodrapwoodr Member Posts: 3
Just purchased a 2007 AWD EXL-RES in Nimbus Gray for $28,143 (including destination) plus Tax, Title, and $57 doc fee. I basically used the fax attack, but due to low inventory I didn't get a great response (Chicago area). Still, I feel like a got a good deal for the exact color I wanted.

If you can wait until the end of the year, you could probably get the same deal on an 08.

Have anyone bought the 2008 Honda Pilot yet? If so, what should I expect to pay for 4WD EX and 4WD SE? Thanks.
  • amy_samy_s Member Posts: 4
Bought 2007 Honda Pilot 4WD with Res (silver color)for $28000 + tax + lic. Paid $30700 OTD. I live in city with 8.25% tax rate.
  • amy_samy_s Member Posts: 4
I forgot to mention that I bought it yesterday. Dealer did not have any 4WD with dvd. They got it from other delaer as trade. Other dealer still have nimbus Grey available.
  • amy_samy_s Member Posts: 4
Is it 4WD or 2WD. It is really good price for 4WD. I bought Honda Pilot EX-L 4WD with Res for $28000(includes destination charge) yesterday. If it is 2WD you should be paying $26900 (including destination charges). Dealer has honda incentive of $3500 off invoice price.
  • marlynnmarlynn Member Posts: 11
Invoice on Edmunds for 2WD is $30,372 plus Honda Destination of $595 is $30,967. Subtract the Dealer Incentive of $3,500 which will put you at $27,467 + TTL for 2WD.

Invoice on Edmunds for AWD is $31,547 plus Honda Destination of $595 is $32,142. Subtract the Dealer Incentive of $3,500 which puts you at $28,642 + TTL for AWD.

I would offer $27,000 for 2WD and $28,200 for AWD.

How do you guys deal with out of state purchae though? I almost purchase a EX-L 2WD for $25700 in CA, but the dealer want to charge me full tax, title, and license. I will relocate to TX in a couple of weeks and I just need to buy this car and ship it to TX. The dealer confirmed it is the law of DMV CA that as long as the car hit the ground, I have to pay tax. What do you guys do then?
  • pilotboundpilotbound Member Posts: 1
From what I understand the only differences between the EX and VP models are that the EX has climate control and an 8 way automatic adjustable driver seat. Are these the only differences? Does this also mean that you cannot adjust the height of the driver's seat with the VP model? Even manually?
  • canadianpilotcanadianpilot Member Posts: 7
I just bought a Honda Pilot EX-L 4x4 in CA, and had it shipped out of state, NO you do not have to pay the state tax if it is shipped out of state! But you will have to pay the tax when you register it in your own state... whatever TX state tax is. I picked mine up at POWAY Honda for 27655 including everything,(with a bunch of goodies). I dealt with Brenda in Internet sales and would recommend her, It has been a very good experience. My Pilot is currently on route, and I should be a proud owner in about 10 more days!

I am thinking about buying a Pilot this weekend in New York (to take advantage of labor day sales), but ideally I'd like to get a rear entertainment system and an onboard GPS. Can I get both installed from the dealer or do i need to choose one and get the other some other way? If I need to choose one, which sould I get dealer installed and why?

I'm not an experienced car shopper, so appreciate the help...

Has anyone ordered the fightingchance.com 2008 pilot package? Is it worth ordering?
  • qbrozenqbrozen Member Posts: 33,754
the way you stated that, I thought it was some sort of accessory package. It is a buying service. That is for lazy people who don't want to do their own homework. You are here, so you've already started your homework. So, no, its not worth it.

    '11 GMC Sierra 1500; '98 Alfa 156 2.0TS; '08 Maser QP; '67 Coronet R/T; '13 Fiat 500c; '20 S90 T6; '22 MB Sprinter 2500 4x4 diesel; '97 Suzuki R Wagon; '96 Opel Astra; '11 Mini Cooper S

  • jfritschjfritsch Member Posts: 958
    Yes its worth ordering.

Also buy or library "Don't get taken every time" by Remar Sutton. The $49 you'll spend on both will serve you well in your next 50000-$100000+ worth of cars and financing in the next 10-20 years.

As a matter of fact they are probably the only thing well worth ordering exc carfax for used cars.

    Good luck
