It's very quiet in this forum, has anyone purchased a 2008 Pilot, I'm trying to get an idea what people are paying or receiving price quotes on.

It will be May 2008, according to a salesman I talked to in Boulder, Colorado.

I'm thinking about buying a 2008 Honda Pilot AWD with RES this week. I am looking at dealerships in the Port Wash/Roslyn/Manhasset/Mineola area.

What are people paying for this car? What dealerships do you recommend? Anyone interested in a group buy?
  • kderobertiskderobertis Member Posts: 82
I'm not sure how much play there is in the price since 2-3 weeks ago there was a $3,500 incentive on 2007 models. I believe I missed the boat, so it's a wait and see if there will be any heavy discounts.

I will purhase from Paragon, since they have always done the right thing for me on my last two Honda purchases.

Hope all proud owners to be drive Pilot long enough on freeway with at least 70 mph. I was quite excited to own 2007 Pilot EXL AWD and thrilled about the price, but soon to find out some ticklish and constant vibration/resonant sensation on freeway during daily commute, also reported by quite some owners, acknowledged by technician even at lower speed. The sensation persists even after 3 out 4 tires were re-balanced at 1500 miles. NOT what I had expected from prior ride experience of any other Hondas: Accord (at least 4 generations, coupe or sedan); minivan (2 generations); civic (3 generations). Maybe that's the truck feel people love.

After adding MDX rear subframe braces ($43 via mail order) , put on by dealer as add-on, the degrees of the vibrations via seats reduce a bit, but nevertheless persist. Now the frontend of vibrations become bit more prominent through steering wheel. However, the handling of the truck improves substantially with much less sway during lane change, gives one more Honda feel of handling. The dealership service is excellent, but they could not correct design flaws

Anyhow, good luck to all Pilot riders and proud owners to be, test and feel carefully and hope you won't feel regret month after

Any suggestions for a Honda dealer for buying Honda Pilot 4x4 EXL with Nav.

    Thanks.

I just found and bought a 2007 Honda Pilot 4WD EX-L with navigation at Corona Honda in Corona, California over the weekend. It was also loaded with extras such as fog lights, rear splash guards, cargo tray, and XM satellite radio. My offer of $32000 OTD was accepted. I then added running boards for only $600 including installation and Honda's security/100,000 mile extended warranty/shield coating option for an additional $3000. All in all a good deal.

    Just bought a 2008 Pilot 4WD EX-L from Mahwah Honda (NY/NJ Border) for 30800.
  • tfm1973tfm1973 Member Posts: 14
jjgalvin -- was that $30,800 out the door or just the sale price of the vehicle?

i'm also looking at a 2008 EX-L AWD without the navigation or rear entertainment system.

only first day of looking but the best i've gotten so far is $31,581 OTD. i'm in maryland/dc area.

The concept of Out the Door price is apples and oranges, every state has a different taxing/fee policy. I think the only valid term is selling price. (Some states are title states others are not; some jurisdictions have a sales tax, some don't; Some states require tags to stay with a car, others allow them to transfer, etc) The selling price should include all amounts which accrue to the dealer's benefit. In NY, for instance, sales taxes and MV/transfer fees could add almost $3000 to the cost of a Pilot!!
  • tfm1973tfm1973 Member Posts: 14
jjgalvin - that is true. so your price of $30,800 was the sales price of the pilot. i've been able to get $29,000 even for the price of the car from 3 dealerships. That's about $1200 less than invoice. Anyone else have prices on '08 Honda Pilots?
  • kderobertiskderobertis Member Posts: 82
I read in another forum, that people are hearing that in December there will be $3K - 3.5K incentives off 08's because of the 09's coming in the spring. Don't know how true that is but makes you want to wait and see.
  • k28k28 Member Posts: 6
The Black 2007 Honda Pilot 4WD EX-L with navigation that I bought 2 days ago at Corona Honda in Corona, California had fog lights, rear splash guards, cargo tray, and XM satellite radio. I had them add running boards. The sale price was $30200 before taxes. I then bought Honda's security/100,000 mile extended warranty/shield coating/GAP package for an additional $3000. Sales tax in Los Angeles County is 8.25% and I had to pay it eventhough Corona in Riverside County is around 7%.

Helped my friends last night buy their new 2008 Honda Pilot EX-L AWD in Black w/Tan Leather interior.

They paid $28,900 for their vehicle. With Md. tax, tags, license, dealer fee - they paid $31,400 OTD.
  • kderobertiskderobertis Member Posts: 82
That about 2K under invoice....... nice!

Ordered 2008 honda exl 4wd res last week from dealer(30,550) - without tags, title, dest Total came out to 32,867.00 . Had to order from another dealer because we wanted white with the tan interior. The honda dealer did not charge me extra for the retrieval of the car. When car came in - did not have the res system . They put in custom dvd system and deducted 400.00 from cost of car. Total cost now is 32,467.00 .. Got extras from www.accessories-honda.com - lowest cost. Got extended warranty from www.jayhondacare.com - 6 year warranty.
  • homerj227homerj227 Member Posts: 21
Are you sure you just didn't pay a couple of thousand bucks for a DVD system that was worth much less? It's pretty easy for the dealership to put in a 3rd party DVD that they make a lot more $$ on than the factory one. Not saying they did this, or even if they did that it is not better than the factory system, but it's something I would look into. I had a dealer try charging me $2,000 for a rear backup camera that was basically under $150 online.
  • kderobertiskderobertis Member Posts: 82
Looks like the old bait and switch, if your ok with it then enjoy.
  • colinp1colinp1 Member Posts: 3
I looked into the cost at two different places to get a custom dvd system in the car. One shop quoted me 1495.00 fully installed ; second one quoted me 1500.00 installed. Spoke with(Outside source) extensively about the two systems - There was really no differce between the factory and installed dvd. Only difference were the mechanics (Dash mounted). By doing the calculations - they only saved me 295.00 on the car. They are going to warranty the dvd system through the time of my extended warrranty.
  • homerj227homerj227 Member Posts: 21
My point is that the actual cost of the product you purchased may be $500 and you are paying them $1,000+ for installation. Crutchfield has 9.2" DVD overhead units for $499. While they may have convinced you it's the same result for you, and it may be, they are probably making way, way more putting in a 3rd party unit vs. having to just work the spread between invoice and dealer price on the factory installed unit. It was the same deal w/ my Pilot...they offered a backup camera for $1,895.00 on the particular car I was looking at, but not the factory one. I looked on line and the screen and camera were under $200. And, although the funcitons appeared similar, they did not have the same level of integration. So, where they would make a couple hundred bucks on the factory option, they were making $1,000+ on the 3rd party option (although they did have to spend an hour installing it). Just make sure you got all of the functions and integration that come w/ the factory unit, like 2 sets of wirelesss headphones, easily accessible inputs, etc. Also, you have to consider resale value. You don't have an EX-L RES right now, you have an EX-L w/ aftermarket accessories. I'm not saying it's a bad deal, b/c it's just as likely that this unit is better than the Honda one as it is that it is worse. But, the dealer definitely knew what they were doing and they did find a way to make a lot more on this deal than if they had delivered what they promised. I wouldnt' really stand for it unless the DVD unit was far superior to what comes w/ the Honda.
  • colinp1colinp1 Member Posts: 3
I really appreciate the input. I had a really bad problem with it but my wife saw the larger screen; and they would take the 400.00 off the total cost of the car. Thanks again....
  • homerj227homerj227 Member Posts: 21
As I said, there is at least a 50% chance it's better than the Honda system anyhow...

I just purchased a Silver 2008 Honda Pilot 4WD EXL with NAV for 33,500 OTD from Precision Honda in Jasper, Alabama. Add-on accessories included in that price were: air deflector/bug guard on hood (msrp $165), rear splash guards (msrp $55), wheel locks (msrp $54), cargo net (msrp $49), cargo tray (msrp $99), and luggage rack cross bars (msrp $185). Vehicle also has backup camera and XM radio but I believe these are standard with NAV models. Current dealer incentive for this vehicle is $1000. I would recommend this dealership to anyone - had great experience. I was offered 100,000 mile warranty for $1300 - any suggestions on whether the extended warranty is a good deal or not?
  • kderobertiskderobertis Member Posts: 82
Thanks for providing your car purchase information, but can you tell us what you paid for the car without taxs, fees etc, since this will vary from state to state.

What was the cost without dealer insatlled options?

Criswell Honda in Germantown. Also offered exact same price at Ourisman Honda in Bethesda and Sport Honda in Burtonsville. My friends went with the closest dealership. Good luck sweetjoe!

Side note: Anyone have any luck getting an iPod hooked up to the 2008 Honda Pilots? I was told that they are upgrading the 2007 MusicLink for the '08 Pilots and it isn't available yet. Anyone have a 3rd party solution?

Could you pl give me the Dealer Info, from where you get this Vehicle.
I am also planning to buy soon

I did the same national lease deal, but it was last month's deal and approx $10 more per month (looks like they reduced the money factor even further, effectively financing at under 4% this month). These deals are dependent upon AHFC qualifying you at the "Super Preferred" rate, as even going down to just the "Preferred" rate will cost you ~ $50 extra per month. But assuming they qualify you (usually a 710 credit score, although they can generally get it done if you are close), yes these deals are basically as they state them. There only other charges should very minor ones, tax on your portion of the cap cost reduction (a few hundred bucks) is the only one I can really remember. We rolled the other small charges into the monthly payment and wrote them a check for exactly $2,999. Figure if there saying the monthly is $299, you will pay under $350 including tax per month if you put down the $2,999. I think these national deals through Honda are generally strong deals, as you get a strong residual (57% after 3 years) and a good interest rates/money factors with very little need for negotiating. Easy deal for us.
  • white92white92 Member Posts: 3
We went ahead and did this lease yesterday. Total of $3500 out of pocket with license, registration, etc... Payment is $299 plus tax. (6.85% of monthly payment) Easy transaction. They threw in all season mats and rear cargo tray. Car is great! The only thing I'd change is have the steering column telescope also.

does anyone know what the current 36 month 15K miles/yr Honda Finance-Lease numbers are for a 2008 Pilot EX-L 4wd...

was looking for Residual percent.. as well as 'money factor'/interest rate

also did some research but noticed that there isn't any 'dealer cash' anymore on the '08...

any updates on this info much appreciated.

(I also posted this on the Honda Lease Forum.. no response so far)

..as a sidenote...wife has '06 Pilot...possibly looking for an '08 for myself after having turned in an '04 Suburban on lease(my fourth in a row).. seems like local Honda dealer has gone bonkers.. seems he has 'additional useless accessory sticker'... a/k/a ADP--Additonal Dealer Profit.. totaling $1800 in add-ons..I kid you not....paint sealant etc.. the usual 'junk'.. obviously I told him where that sticker should be put .. outrageous that Honda would allow this even though I know each dealer sets their own prices.. his sell-price of 32K is a joke...and pretty sure he gave me incorrect residual percent on this vehicle.. so will not deal with them

    hi there,
can you tell me the name of the dealership you purchased your vehicle from in NJ? I, too, am looking to purchase a 2008 Pilot and what you paid is a really good price. Do you know if that model is available for the special lease of $299/month? any help would be greatly appreciated. thank you.

I got offered $30940.00 yestereday for a 2008 EX-L 4WD, but I did not take it. Going to shop around at a couple of other dealers.
  • vistabluestangvistabluestang Member Posts: 14
One clarification. the $30,940 included destination fee so the actual sales price was $30,380.
  • kderobertiskderobertis Member Posts: 82
Thanks what I'm looking to pay for a 2008 Honda Pilot EXL AWD w/Nav, including destination.
  • luvr1luvr1 Member Posts: 7
Looking for an EX No Moonroof. Does it exist? Dealers not able to find one here in SF.
  • cennis1cennis1 Member Posts: 31
Honda doesn't really do options individually. I'm almost sure that the EX without leather does not have a moonroof, but with leather (EX-L) it will always have one. If you want leather you have no choice. Honda's website should say for sure. If I'm right, it's a little scary that the dealer doesn't know this.
  • kderobertiskderobertis Member Posts: 82
I played the internet game today requesting prices from four Long Island dealerships and it was depressing as expected.

All came back between $33,155 - $33,655 (destination included) for a 2008 Honda Pilot EXL AWD w/Nav. I think these dealers are crazy for offering such a high ball price, what they claim is a fair "Special Internet Price".

It was fun, but as I expected, was a total waste of everyone's time.

The dealers involved were Nardy, Babylon, Huntington & Honda City.
  • luvr1luvr1 Member Posts: 7
What is a good price for the EX Pilot, no leather?
Here in California. Has anyone had XM installed by the dealer and what did you pay?
  • luvr1luvr1 Member Posts: 7
that is a 2WD Pilot. Thanks for your response.
  • cennis1cennis1 Member Posts: 31
Not sure on the price, but XM should be standard, on 2008 models at least. They give you either 3 or 6 months for free, I think, but the stereo should have an XM button.
  • luvr1luvr1 Member Posts: 7
EX, no leather, comes XM ready. Getting different quotes for installation. Anyone pay for this and what amt.?
  • jbookerjbooker Member Posts: 3
I've been getting quotes from dealers via email and the best price I got was 31,700. I'm a little hesitant because I hear the 2009 are coming out in spring (not sure how true this is).

Do you think this is a good price? Should I wait to purchase to see if they come out with any incentives?
  • dirtydogsdirtydogs Member Posts: 12
I'm replacing an MDX at the end of the month (lease is up) and have been e-mailing dealers here in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area...

The best prices I have received for a 2008 Pilot EX-L 2WD with no extra accessories is:

$28,313 and $28,000...still waiting to hear from two dealers.

This is $1,300 to $1,600 under invoice. Keep in mind that there is a $1,000 rebate from the manufacturer to the dealer so in reality, the offers are from $300 to $600 under invoice. Pretty good prices, but I still think I can get it down a bit lower.

I am going to wait until the 29th, right at the end of the month, and buy it or lease it then. Figure with Honda's current money factor and residual, I can get a 36-month lease with 15K per year for a total payment, including tax of around $400 a month with no-money down. Unfortunately, here in Texas you have to pay sales tax on the full amount of the vehicles sale price, which blows and can be a detractor to leasing.

However, since we only plan on keeping the Pilot about three years, leasing may make more sense for us.

One of the dealers has a 2008 EX-L 2WD demo with 5,000 miles. I am trying to get it for under $26,000, but don't know if they will come down that low.

FYI...does anyone know if the current money factor on a 36-month lease for the EX-L 2WD is .00121 or .00155? I have seen both numbers, but want to know which one is right.

    Thanks,

    Dirty Dogs

P.S. I recommend getting the fightingchance.com package, it has a ton of good information.
