I have received two quotes: 26792 & 26751 including destination. The quotes are very good but I think I can still squeeze them for a little bit more. $26500 is what you should start at. I'm hoping to get mine by this week before my wife changes her mind.
alert chicago's people If you go to Continental Honda @5901 S. Lagrange Road in Countryside, IL DON'T talk to the sale guy name Terry Scudieri. He is a liar, promise everything on email on the a quote, but when I get their,, he doesnt promise the price.
"26792 & 26751 including destination" Those are excellent prices for an EX-L 4WD Pilot. In my opinion, instead of haggling over a couple hundred bucks more, I would ask them to throw in floor mats, mud guards, sunroof wind deflector, etc.
Note the price for an EX 2WD should be $23,300. There's just a math error in your calculations.
Additionally, I personally saw the sales managers "papers" when he accidentally left them near me and then stepped aside for a few minutes. Holdback is listed at 2% of invoice...straight off of his dog-eared sheets. I'm not understanding where the holdback of $997 is coming from, as it is going to be dependent on invoice price....so it can't be the same for an LX as for an EX-L Navi, which has been suggested in this forum.
There is the floorplan of about $500 per vehicle. The best you can expect to do is pay INVOICE - HOLDBACK - DEALER INCENTIVES. A hundred or two hundred dollars (+/-) is the most variation you're going to see.
Finally, please state in your 'sales prices' if destination is included. I know that O'Hare Honda in Chicago will quote you w/o destination, often why their prices seem about $600 lower than the average. In their defense, they have only a very modest doc fee of about $50.
Thank you! Yes, the financing is from Honda & independent of dealer incentives. Finance Rates are 2.9% X 36 Mos and 4.9% Up To 60 Mos. On all Models (Excludes: CRV, Accord, S2000).
Your quote at $24,768 is pretty close. Try to get another $300 bucks; if not, get some free accessories, free oil changes, Gas Card, etc.
Also, the discount is in the form of a Dealer Incentive and therefore non-taxable! Same amount as a Customer Rebate would've been fully taxed.
if purchasing pilot from dealer A(cheaper price), can I do the warranty maintenance(free service only) in dealer B close to my house in the case there would be some minor problems about new cars. Thanks.
for EX-L 4WD 26792 & 26751 including destination is very good.
thanks.dashbb. I hate to shop around and negotiate with sales people. but quotes i got are higher than my expection. not sure how to negotiate. do you think it is possible to get incentive and 2.99% together? first time new car buyer.
Nice list for those looking at the various models. I am not sure about the financing you reference though. I don't see anywhere that there is special financing for the Pilot... where did you find that?
I ended up with a EX-L Navi 2WD for $28,000 plus TTL and doc fee. The truck also included pin striping (already removed), tint on front windows, and all weather cargo mat. Overall, I think I got a good deal on the color I wanted. Good luck to all!
I am going in tomorrow to close the deal on a EX 4WD...and they toldme the financing from American Honda was not available with the dealer incentives...can you give me a link or a # to callAmer Honda to find this out...I'd love to get 4.9% or even 2.9%...thanks!
After patiently waiting for six months, I finally grabbed my 2007 Pilot EX-Leather AWD ($28,303 out the door / $7,250 off MSRP) last Saturday. The dealer is located two hours away from Ann Arbor, Michigan (near Metropolitan Detroit). Dealer also financed the loan at 5.99 % (60 months) which is better than the local credit union at (6.15%).
My 1993 Honda Civic finally broke down last Thursday (170,000 miles) and badly needed a vehicle. The same day ( July 5th ), I emailed the 12 dealers I last contacted two months ago to check the deals. The best offer was still at $ 5,500 off MSRP for EX-Leather AWD.
Knowing that July 5th is the end of the Honda promotion for 4.99% APR, I applied for a loan and hoped that Honda Financial Corp. will come through in a few hours, before the dealership closes for the day. An hour before closing, I received confirmation from Honda Finance Corp. on the loan approval.
Having read early postings on $7000 - $8000 OFF MSRP deals in July, I took a calculated risk and let the promotion expire. Early in the morning (Friday), I sent a follow-up email to the top 5 contenders. I was fortunate that one dealership aggressively offered the 2007 Pilot EX-Leather AWD (Nimbus Gray at 12 miles) for $ 7,250 off MSRP, instead of the dealership waiting for the end of the month. The same sales person quoted $ 1,600 higher just hours before.
Minutes later, I confirmed the price, color and VIN with the sales person, as well as verified with sales manager for authorization. Saturday, I took delivery of the vehicle.
I’m writing from Charlotte, North Carolina on my way to Orlando, Florida for a weeklong vacation. With 650 miles on the road since leaving Michigan, the Honda Pilot is top-rated and can personally attest and validate the positive comments posted by Pilot owners.
Thanks to this forum, I’m excited to show off the new vehicle to family friends in Florida, and let them also take advantage of the excellent savings, too.
I may have spoken too soon on the Pilot. I was going on my knowledge of Odyssey (I've been going back & forth between the 2). On Odyssey, I know that the numbers in some people's CR reports for Odyssey were off - CR had an old invoice price and incorrectly calculated holdback on MSRP, rather than invoice. I was assuming Honda did Pilot the same way as Odyssey, but you can check around more. I've had salespeople tell me the exact holdback, and I could then verify how they were calculated.
Morse and I have already been quoted a better price at Sherwood in Delray with no dealer fees, it seems to me they all want these to go away quick. I wonder if they know something we don't like a total redo of Pilot coming for 08, that would explain deals..I sure would like to get the price down to $25,000 EX-L 2wd...even plus tax, tags no dealer fee. My wife really is not wanting a new SUV but her current one is 5 years old with 60000 miles so it would make a nice present.. I have found that if you don't really care about getting a new car and let the dealer know this you will almost always get a better deal than most and if you have a trade 90% of the time your bargaining power goes down the drain..
I have been working with the internet manager at Richfield-Bloomington Honda. He has sent me some lease quotes and some purchase quotes. I actually went in a saw him yesterday, waiting on my wifes approval to pull the trigger. I was on their lot yesterday, not too much left to choose from, they do have some 08's though.

EX 4WD $25320.00 $1645.80 tax $404.00 plates and tabs $35.00 DMV fees's $50.00 dealer doc fee $27454.80 OTD
He's a very straight forward guy, no BS. I cant give his name but, he is the only red-head in the new car building.
This is the 3rd or 4th post with 7000+ off MSRP so it seems we're back to last summers deals of $7000-8000 off MSRP. There is considerable unadvertised dealer cash on this vehicle so don't get too hung up on holdback or invoice.
20-30 emails end of July or August for bids on your model in several colors and working the top 2-3 best should get you there.
Nav hunters should act soon as they will disappear first and 7000 off is an excellent price compared to the last 2 summers.
Good Luck --jjf

anyone from southern Arizona has good offer for AWD EX? so far I get $27800 (OTD) (or $24800 plus TTL). I am wondering if I can get better price. thanks
I would use Edmunds service to have quotes emailed to you from dealers in Tucson and Phoenix. The AWD models should be pretty easy to come by in Phoenix. I had positive exchanges with Earnhardt Honda, Showcase Honda (reluctant to quote over phone), and Arrowhead Honda (couldn't get to a good price though). Bell and Right Honda in Phoenix were a bit more "slick" and I felt I needed to watch them more.
In all cases in Phoenix, doc fees are around $369 (can you say collusion??) and the finance departments are very hard sell for Lo-Jack, alarms, gap insurance, etc. Just say NO (over and over again).
I found it interesting in my experience that the sales person convinces you how reliable and good the Honda Pilot is and the Finance person tries to undo it all with what happens if it breaks, or the day your car was made a defective part was put on it (oh my)... "so why not take out that extra 250,000 mile warranty on the vehicle... what do you say?" ...that's right... NO, N-O!
Good luck! There are some good sales people out there just make it clear what your offer is and do your negotiating before you get there so you can get in and get out. Like the saying goes... "If you play with snakes your going to get bit."
thanks, stomprocket, for sharing your experience. did you buy a pilot recenlty? I did use edmunds to request quote but most salepersons didn't want to lower their initial quote. someone even insisted $27000 plus TTL is the right number for a EX AWD and any lower price is tricky!!! seems that no one wants to use the dealer holdback to attract buyers.
Thanks for all the posts. They helped me. I agree with some earlier posts to get a deal that you feel really good about rather than waiting to the last second and/or missing exactly the option and color that you really want for savings<$200. In my case, I wanted an EX-L AWD in Billet Silver. The issue came down to how many EX-L's in Silver were still in Norhtern CA <b>w/OUT Nav or DVD. I got a deal that I am very comfortable with at Menlo Honda. Michael and Jason were decent to work with -- no surpirses.
2007 EX-L AWD in Billet Silver Vehicle Price = $25,945 ($7300 less than MSRP of $33,245) Destination = $595 Doc Prep = $55 Tax (8.25%) = $2194.15 DMV License Fee = $172 DMV Registration / Title Fee = $80 CA Tire Fee = $8.75
OUT THE DOOR = $29,050.66
The best financing the dealer could get was 6.5%, even with a credit score of 826 via Experian. Term did not matter as it was 6.5% for any of the 24/35/48/60 months. Any info where I can see if I can get better financing terms would be appreciated.
I will post that if you are interested in an EX-L AWD in Billet Silver in the Bay Area, don't wait too long as there are not that may of those models in that color left around. There are more w/ Nav and DVD, but not the straight up EX-L AWD.
It seems that you were taxed on the destination charges and document fees! why? is this normal? look like you overpaid $55 in taxes.
I checked several Los Angeles and Orange County dealerships for 2007 EX-L with a DVD, wanted Desert Rock Metallic exterior with Saddle interior, only one dealer had it. All SoCal dealers offered me $6000 off the MSRP without even asking them if they had ny specials. Did not buy it because of what they offered for my 2001 Blazer LT trade in.
I'm newbie to this forum & in market for 4WD EX-L w/Nav. I have few qns. for folks who have bought pilot with very good deals!
1. How to check true invoice price of pilot model? should I go to kbb, carsdirect.com or other site to check true invoice prices?
2. Should I buy CR & fightingchance.com package to check true price and hidden incentives? What's your experience?
3. What are the various packages offered by dealer e.g. sport package, appearence package etc. I searched on honda.com under pilot & didn't find any information regarding various packages.
4. Is dealer processing fee, docs. fee necessary? or is it just markup or unnecessary fees added by dealer. Can I negotiate on this?
5. Do I have to go thru dealer for title, licence & registration of vehicle? Will I save some money If I do the lic. & registration myself?
6. lastly & most important, what's the lowest price you guys have paid for 4WD/EX-L w/NAV in Seattle area?
7. Any sample emails to send to dealers for negotiating?
Good question. I am not sure of what is "taxable" vs what is not. It would be interesting to hear if other folks in CA are getting taxed on the Documentation Fee and Destination.
As for colors, I am not sure. I was only focused on Silver so I know a bit about that color. Silver and Nimbus gray seem to be the most popular color as far as # f thsoe on the lots. That said, the majority of Silver were all w/ NAV, there were a few w/ DVD but not nearly as many as the Nav's. There were not many plain ol' EX-L's in general.
Carsdirect for invoice is what I use, most states require dealer to do license & registration.. 2. no don't buy CR etc as you can get all the info you need right here. Always when buying negotiate OTD price on vehicle including destination and any so called fees dealer wants to add, then agree to pay on top of that the actual cost of State tax and what DMV charges for title-plates etc.. that way you won't get any surprises..Once I had a salesman say everyone must pay dealer fee of $499 I said fine just make sure its included in the OTD offer I made you or I walk... most salesman are under a lot of pressure from their managers (seems like they have a sales meeting every day) so they are going to do what they are told.. I good way to buy a car is type or write offer on a piece of paper stating all your terms and present it with a check showing you are serious and then if they accept it make sure when they bring out dealer contract that nothing has been added or changed, if you do this you will be a lot happier in the end..
Hi guys, I just purchased a brand new Pilot EX-L 4WD with 22 miles in Nimbus gray for $27,700 OTD at Sport Honda in Silver Spring, MD. The only option dealer add in is paintstrip. Hope this help!
Just wandering if this has occured... Sticker I am looking at is $32540 includes destination for EX-L 2wd. $7500 off = Price OTD $25,040 plus actual cost of tax, plates, title work..no hidden charges or dealer fees..
I pulled the trigger finally. $25k even for a Pilot EX AWD, with All Weather floormats & rear mudguards. $1625 tax, $404 registration, $34 transfer, $50 doc fees. OTD $27113. From Hopkins Honda.
In finance, they notified me of different "protection packages" but did not push at all when I said no thanks. Nice pickup inspection room. I brought a pickup checklist for the Odyssey from alexmish1 on Odyclub, that I adapted where appropriate to the Pilot. Nice facility. Great internet salesperson.
FWIW, if you're buying in the Twin Cities, don't expect to get Chicago prices on a local buy. The quotes you get will be far off what Chicago quotes you can get. This shows up at Carsdirect as a $1000 higher price for the EX. I don't know why, but suspect there's some local incentive from AmerHonda available in Illinois that's not available here.
Also, contrary to jjf's advice in general (but consistent with his NAV advice), I'd recommend moving sooner in the month, if you want to keep your purchase local. I was very, very close to buying an Odyssey at the end of last month, and didn't see much of an improvement ($200) from doing the last few days blitz. Meanwhile, I'd say the Pilot AWD is a pretty good match for Minnesota, and with these incentives, they may move fast. Color choice in your preferred style (Ex/ExL etc) may be restricted.
bavariman, I just sent an email to your carspace account. Rules state we cannot post the names of salespeople on these fora, but email is ok. (It also is ok to post the name of the dealership).
Just purchased from the red-headed guy at Richfield Bloomington Honda. I've been working with him for about a week now. They only have four EX-L 4WD's left (after mine!)
I came in with a pre-approval from City County Credit Union in St Paul with an APR of 5.75%. I asked about the 4.9% but I was told that expired on 07/05 (just as I thought but it never hurts to ask).
Here is how the numbers broke down: $26996.31 (better then the $27399.00 from 07/06) $1754.76 sales tax $404.00 plates and tabs $34.00 DMV trans fees $50.00 delaer doc fee $29239.07 TOTAL OTD!!!
I didnt purchase the warranty but they left me with some good info. I may go back and buy it.
Thanks to everyone here. You helped make my purchase easy and enjoyable. My internet sales guy, the red head, did a great job!
I'm in the Seattle area, and just purchased last weekend the same Pilot you are in the market for (4WD EXL NAV) for an even $29k (+ tax, title). OTD came in at $31,9xxish. Seems like a good deal so far for our area, but I'm sure time will change that quickly! The invoice of $32.6k is easy to find and seems like the real invoice ... what's hard is figuring out what the exact dealer cost is after all incentives. I came up with a general $28k as actual cost for that Pilot, and tried to work from there. Your Pilot really doesn't have the 'packages' that you find with other makes (Toyota has their sport and limited, for example). You can add accessories, but that is about the extent of it. You shouldn't really run into $400+ doc fees. There will be a couple hundred license fees for the title/registration, but you should only see about a $35 doc fee. And yes, dealer will do your title work.
stxyz: I bought last weekend from Showcase Honda. It may be difficult to get dealers to give up the holdback, but on an AWD I think you may stand a better chance. You can for sure get $3500 under invoice. My thought is to calculate your price and make an offer to them, they will know you are serious as they probably talk to many who they think are not.
I forgot to mention that I passed on a few cars because of mileage. Be sure to ask the VIN of the car they are quoting and mileage. One salesperson, when I passed on a Pilot with over 280 miles on it, quickly quoted $4k under invoice, free lifetime oil changes, and tint, etc.
I agree with some of the other posts offering advice...there are some costs like document processing, destination fee, etc... that you will have to pay but just include all those in your OTD price. Find out what the dealership's doc/processing fees are and then fit those into your OTD. That's what I did...all over the phone/email. This is my price XXXX + TX/Title and that's it.
Mud guards and wheel locks will add another 100-$250 (from the research I did) and they should be added into the OTD price as well that YOU are looking for.
Another piece of advice...something that I did but I don't know if it is that common...I requested the salesman fax me a quoted price with the vehicle description/vin on it so I could check options and such. That way I had something to take with me....we drove 300 miles or so to pick it up in Seattle area.
My price was 28K OTD + TX/TTL and that was the best I could find in the Washington...no doubt better deals are popping up in other ares though.
How you negotiates that thru internet? Can you explain how you brake that price. How much is price +Tags+processing Fee+so. on. It's a 4-WD right? I am also in VA area,I want to finish this ASAP i am wating for a long time.If you dont mind Can you send Sales person name to my rand49 at gmail dot com
I just bought a Nimbus Gray Pilot AWD with Navi in NY for $29,200. I might have gotten it for $29064, but this dealership was very fair with my trade-in and they also included the pet barrier netting in my price. So, I really can't complain. I just want to say thank you to all who posted on this site. It was VERY informative, and EXTREMELY helpful! Going to a dealership prepared now makes the entire buying experience so much easier! Thanks again!! --Lee
Is paying in cash for the car gives me more negotiating power and therefore better price ? Is what I see on carsdirect the best price I can get or should I ask for quotes vi internet ? I am in IL and see that some people think we have big discount. I am not sure if this is the case. I am about 2-3 weeks from getting Pilot (or other alternative) as my car is basically dying as we speak.
I just received a quote from a Norfolk, VA area dealer for an EX-L w/ Leather for 29,530. Taxes, Title, and the 400.00 processing fee not included. If they go find the EX-L AWD w/ RES then it's 31,142 (not OTD). Just interested in seeing what others have paid OTD in this area. Thanks for any help.

2WD EX MSRP: $30240 Invoice: $27295
We are paying $23,343 + TTL, $25,000 total (6.5% tax)
I wanted $7,000 off, I got $6900 off in order to get the color I wanted.
I hope this helps those looking for EX models. If I wanted 4WD it was $1,100 more. Gotta draw the line somewhere.
I think it is clear that the EX-L and pricier models offer the deepest discount, but there are deals to be had on the standard models as well.
This forum has been a fantastic resource.
Advice: Don't split hairs just to say you got the best deal.
2007 EX-L AWD in Billet Silver
Vehicle Price = $25,945 ($7300 less than MSRP of $33,245)
Destination = $595
Doc Prep = $55
Tax (8.25%) = $2194.15
DMV License Fee = $172
DMV Registration / Title Fee = $80
CA Tire Fee = $8.75
OUT THE DOOR = $29,050.66
The best financing the dealer could get was 6.5%, even with a credit score of 826 via Experian. Term did not matter as it was 6.5% for any of the 24/35/48/60 months. Any info where I can see if I can get better financing terms would be appreciated.
I will post that if you are interested in an EX-L AWD in Billet Silver in the Bay Area, don't wait too long as there are not that may of those models in that color left around. There are more w/ Nav and DVD, but not the straight up EX-L AWD.
The information on this board is extremely helpful. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences.
25,945+595+55= $26,595
$26,595 x 8.25% = $2194.10
It seems that you were taxed on the destination charges and document fees! why? is this normal? look like you overpaid $55 in taxes.
I checked several Los Angeles and Orange County dealerships for 2007 EX-L with a DVD, wanted Desert Rock Metallic exterior with Saddle interior, only one dealer had it. All SoCal dealers offered me $6000 off the MSRP without even asking them if they had ny specials. Did not buy it because of what they offered for my 2001 Blazer LT trade in.
Any reason why the Desrt Rock color is rare?
Thanks in advance!!
I just purchased a brand new Pilot EX-L 4WD with 22 miles in Nimbus gray for $27,700 OTD at Sport Honda in Silver Spring, MD. The only option dealer add in is paintstrip. Hope this help!
At this point, don't get hung up on it. IMO, if you are getting between $7000-8000 off MSRP, you are getting a good deal.
I am in your locale and will get a price quote from that dealership on the same exact vehicle you bought & same color.
BTW, the documentation fee is taxable as are the destination charges (which are included in the price of the vehicle).
You got a really good deal btw.
Good luck.
Document fees are taxable in California... But, since they are restricted ($55 max?), the tax is negligible in the big picture.

Anybody think that this is good? I'm hating the document fee.
I'm looking to grab am EX-L AWD from Hopkins Honda. How do I contact the "Great internet salesperson" to get a nice deal like yours. Thanks!
I just sent an email to your carspace account. Rules state we cannot post the names of salespeople on these fora, but email is ok. (It also is ok to post the name of the dealership).
I came in with a pre-approval from City County Credit Union in St Paul with an APR of 5.75%. I asked about the 4.9% but I was told that expired on 07/05 (just as I thought but it never hurts to ask).
Here is how the numbers broke down:
$26996.31 (better then the $27399.00 from 07/06)
$1754.76 sales tax
$404.00 plates and tabs
$34.00 DMV trans fees
$50.00 delaer doc fee
$29239.07 TOTAL OTD!!!
I didnt purchase the warranty but they left me with some good info. I may go back and buy it.
Thanks to everyone here. You helped make my purchase easy and enjoyable. My internet sales guy, the red head, did a great job!
My price was 28K OTD + TX/TTL and that was the best I could find in the Washington...no doubt better deals are popping up in other ares though.
thanks
