$2500 or $3000 after july 5
I'm gonna wait since im not in any rush
I couldn't even get Tameron to quote me an OTD price via email or phone. They kept insisting that I make an appointment to come in and discuss my needs. Well, I work out of town and I already knew what my needs were, so I got tired of their BS and went to Precision.
I left my house in Birmingham at 8:15 AM on Saturday morning, June 2 and was back home with my new Pilot before lunch.
Ray is the real deal. Give him a shot at your business and you will not regret it.
You can wait until July....I do think the dealer cash might go up another $500 or so, but with every day you wait, you are risking lower and lower inventory....especially with the LX model. In my vehicle search, I saw very few LX models.
I considered waiting, but I'm very happy with my deal and I got the exact vehicle I wanted. If I were you, I'd do it right away...Call Ray!
Thanks!
Cathy
07exlres, what did you pay for you Pilot?
so the new body style will actually be an early '09
It is like 10 seconds on 10 seconds off
But can only be detected at these speeds
Not all AWD's have this problem but some defin do
Do yourself a favor and take a long 20 min to 30min test drive on an interstate or other open road, and do it with the exact unit you are considering buying
Make sure it does not have the defect b/c it is difficult to remedy
There is a thread on edmunds about this defect, go there if you'd like to learn more
We went in initially starting with the Cosco auto program price which is a couple thousand from MSRP and bargained down. We feel like we got a good deal, what do you guys think?
MSRP: 38455 plus tax, tags, etc
OTD: 32000 including all our extras
I was under the impression that everyone was getting $4000-$6000 under MSRP without this incentive (that I was unaware of). The financing is what initially got me looking at the Pilot. I've been given a final offer 26,500 otd, plus any accessories, with the 4.9 financing.
Seems high from what I've seen on this post. I'm I right?
The $2K incentive is absolutely a factor in any recent deal you see listed, and nothing new as it's been out for nearly all of June.
I'm shopping an AWD LX in New England and my net quotes have ranged from 5200 - 4400 off MSRP which equal 2500 - 1700 below net invoice (invoice plus dest.). Does this mean the dealers are making little or no money, no because A) they have the $2k marketing support and then B.) they have 3% "dealer" hold back which means if you buy a vehicle at $2K below net invoice, they're still making 3% profit.
Atleast that's my understanding.
Conventional wisdom suggests that an increased dealer incentive will be announced between June 29th and July 2 when the current incentive expires.

We just bought a 2WD EXL w/Navi in silver w/running boards, the musiclink adaptor, and 5 oil changes and full tank of gas for $32,000 OTD from Fairfax Honda in VA.

And I really didn't haggle much on the $24.9k OTD price for the car, because my trade price made the deal. So if you are just ONLY buying the car, then you should be able to get to $22.8k TTL extra very easily, amybe slightly lower. I had received a few internet qquotes in the low $22k range TTL extra. By the way, I assume they reduce their price with the $2k incentive.
And yes, yours seem high. Try to get it below $25k OTD. Maybe $24k??
Yes it includes the running boards, musiclink adaptor for the iPod, navi with back up camera, and the 5 oil changes.
We love it!
The dealer came back with $26,500 OTD w/o the accessories, which would put me OTD at over $27,000. I haven't said yes, but I've shot myself in the foot already if I started out $1000 to high.
Thanks for the input fatire1 and jwhom.

How did you get Holmes to come down on their price. I have been looking around Omaha and Des moines for a Honda Odyssey EXL-RES. They only came down $200 when I made them a really low offer. They are at $29,900 now (invoice is 30,260 with destination).
Thanks so much.

My question is since I am considering a 2WD EX-L RES that lists for $34,140 and invoices for $30,800, how can I get over $6000-6500 off of MSRP? Adding the incentive and difference of MSRP to invoice it is just shy of $6k. Are dealers giving up some of the holdback money to do this or is there something I am missing? I am debating buying this weekend or waiting until after the 4th if that historically has been better. Thanks!
I just purchased a 2007 Honda Pilot EX-L (no Nav or RES) with window tint here in Houston. Sticker price was $32,840 (inlcudes Dest. and tint). I got it for $27,600 ($5240 below sticker), with an OTD price of $29,783. You think I got a decent deal?
Also I was told by a straight shooting dealer I trust here in NH the dealer hold back was cut to 2% of invoice on cars shipped Jan. or later, not 3% as mentioned earlier in this thread.
So assuming your invoice $ above is NET (incl. Dest. fee) and the dealer doc fee is $250, AND you use Honda financing (otherwise reduce incentive by $500) the math works out like this for a zero dealer profit deal.
NET INV $30,800
INCENTIVE ($2,500)
DOC.FEE $250
DHB ($616)
O-T-D PRICE $27,934
PROFIT $0
MSRP $34,140
MSRP DIS $6,206
I'm not saying you can get a zero profit deal, I'm guessing that would probably only be possible if the dealer was over-loaded with the model you want and feels desperate to move them.
Hope this helps.
1) Document Fees are nothing more than pure profit for a dealership. Some don't charge it, most do...the ones that don't typically have it wrapped up in the sale price.
2) In addition to dealer holdback of 2%, there is another $500 (approximately) paid to the dealership by the manufacturer as part of the "Floorplan / Advertising."
3) Fatire1 is correct, you can get the $500 discount through financing with honda AND the current $2,000 manufacturer to deal incentive. If they won't do it (and you know your credit/beacon score) get up and leave. You'd be amazed at how quickly they will be able to accomodate an additional $500 off.
4) Any type of DEALER options...pinstripe, seat scotchguard, mudflaps...are completely worthless. Do not let the dealer wrap them up into the MSRP with the car. Tell them that you do not want any of those options and to remove them from you car because you aren't paying. Strangely, you can either get them all for free or at most $100 after saying that because they won't/can't remove it.
5) Consider purchasing colors that are high in inventory, usually this can save you 100-200 dollars. Apparently it's the desert rock color now.
6) Consider an AWD/4x4 model in areas (southern US) which most people aren't interested. These often sit on the dealer's lot significantly longer than the 2WDs and you can get a better deal. The opposite is true if you live in areas where 4x4 is a welcomed option.
7) If a dealer doesn't have your exact vehicle in stock, don't let them go get it for you. It costs them money and time to do that, and you end up paying for it. Call around and go to the dealership with your exact model/options. Bring the good-faith estimates from other dealerships and ask if they will beat it. Usually they will by at least 200.
That was long, but hope it helps.

Thanks for the details that makes it a lot clearer. I was told that Honda financing (not special financing that would negate the $500 incentive) in this region (SW) was 6.5% (credit score above 711) for 60 months. Do you know if they have regional differences, or is it set by Honda national for rates?
Dealers here definitely junk up the vehicles with items I am not interested in. On one hand a good deal may be had on a vehicle that has sat in stock for a while (and had options put on it), on the other I want one that they just take the plastic wrap off of and is bone stock.
I may just wait for July incentives if the dealers I am working with are "too proud" of the aging stock on their lots this month! Thanks again.
Did you end up buying a car from Metro Honda? I'm considering going there, and I'm concerned about their committment to beat my offer.
Thanks.
If you are near Jasper, AL, work with Ray. He is great.
Thanks to everyone in this forum. The information definitely helped me get the best local deal possible.
I didn't end up taking the deal, but it didn't have anything to do with the final price. And you might try the Bradenton Honda internet sales, I dealt with a great guy, almost sorry I didn't buy from him. Post back, I'd be interested in the price you end up with.
I did not purchase. I am now leaning towads getting a CX9. I do not fancy the Pilot shape and was hoping that the 2008 would have been a remodel.. but the prices are still good there. I think by next week you should be really able to get much better deals... 4th July week is always nice for deals.
Anybody else purchase or will be purchasing in the U.P. of Michigan or in Northern WI?

I'm curious if anyone can confirm from a reliable Honda source or Edmunds what the incentives will be come July 3?
Vehicle Price: $26726.21
Tax - NC 3%: $802.79
Doc Fee: $398
Tags: $74
Used the Honda standard finacing at 5.94%. Picked up the car tonight and everything went smoothly, no surprises or pressure to by extended warranty, etc. Overall a great experience.
Could have waited till July but....
I'll be interested to see what ad campaign honda will have come July 3rd... perhaps a 4th of July sales blitz or something. The key for me.. is that I will buy on MY time and my terms and not let the salespeople do the scare tactic thing. I don't know why they think us dumb as nails to think that with an inventory of some dealers with 50 - 100 pilots in stock that we know that the prices will come down eventually. The 08's will be rolling in soon enough! It is a tad insulting... but it is their modus operandi.
West Hills is filling my inbox both via the internet and my cell... we will see...
Cheers,
T
1. A dealership in Eastern Iowa is advertising 0% financing on Pilots and Ridgelines.
2. I physically saw a few 2008 models on a lot today. It was an "SE" model with cloth for $33-34K. I couldn't tell what the extra features were, it looked like a 2007.
The best quote for EX-L RES 2WD is 28,800 in this area. I can hold out and wait for something a little better. Inventory is high here and prices won't rise and will probably go lower!
Good luck to you on your purchase and keep us posted on the results.
