I'm thinking we see the dealer cash go to
    $2500 or $3000 after july 5

I'm gonna wait since im not in any rush

You cannot have a more pleasant new car buying experience. They gave me a great price and were "straight shooters," as well.

I couldn't even get Tameron to quote me an OTD price via email or phone. They kept insisting that I make an appointment to come in and discuss my needs. Well, I work out of town and I already knew what my needs were, so I got tired of their BS and went to Precision.

I left my house in Birmingham at 8:15 AM on Saturday morning, June 2 and was back home with my new Pilot before lunch.

Ray is the real deal. Give him a shot at your business and you will not regret it.
  • handymomhandymom Member Posts: 5
I would try for $6000 to $6500 under MSRP (sticker) and go from there. I can't guide you on OTD pricing because I don't know your trade, cash down etc.

You can wait until July....I do think the dealer cash might go up another $500 or so, but with every day you wait, you are risking lower and lower inventory....especially with the LX model. In my vehicle search, I saw very few LX models.

I considered waiting, but I'm very happy with my deal and I got the exact vehicle I wanted. If I were you, I'd do it right away...Call Ray!

The new body style won't be out until next April at the very earliest...The 08's coming out August 10th, (may be at the dealerships earlier) are the same body style with only minor engine "tweeks" no new features.

Hi there...my DH and I are looking to buy a Honda Pilot this week. Curious to see prices paid for a 2007 Pilot EX in PA.
    Thanks!

Thanks y'all. I just sent Ray a email a few moments ago. Hope he replies soon. Handymom you're right. I didn't see an LX in their inventory on their website. But I did see a lot of EX models. Maybe I can get a bigger discount with the EX. By the way handymom, I plan to pay full cash and I'am not trading.
07exlres, what did you pay for you Pilot?
  • handymomhandymom Member Posts: 5
Don't worry about Precision not having an LX in inventory. Ray will find what you want if he can, although going with a nicer model might make sense at such a deep discount time. Let us know how you do and tell Ray about all the referrals you found here.

Some AWD pilots have a vibration defect when cruising b/t 65-75 MPH

It is like 10 seconds on 10 seconds off

But can only be detected at these speeds

Not all AWD's have this problem but some defin do

Do yourself a favor and take a long 20 min to 30min test drive on an interstate or other open road, and do it with the exact unit you are considering buying

Make sure it does not have the defect b/c it is difficult to remedy

There is a thread on edmunds about this defect, go there if you'd like to learn more

We just bought a 2WD EXL w/Navi in silver w/running boards, the musiclink adaptor, and 5 oil changes and full tank of gas for $32,000 OTD from Fairfax Honda in VA.

We went in initially starting with the Cosco auto program price which is a couple thousand from MSRP and bargained down. We feel like we got a good deal, what do you guys think?

MSRP: 38455 plus tax, tags, etc
OTD: 32000 including all our extras

I'm negotiating on an 07 Pilot LX 2wd, and the dealer quoted a price that was right at what I was looking for. He then told me the price included $2000 dealer cash, or I could get the 2.9/4.9 financing offer.

I was under the impression that everyone was getting $4000-$6000 under MSRP without this incentive (that I was unaware of). The financing is what initially got me looking at the Pilot. I've been given a final offer 26,500 otd, plus any accessories, with the 4.9 financing.

Seems high from what I've seen on this post. I'm I right?

    No dude,
The $2K incentive is absolutely a factor in any recent deal you see listed, and nothing new as it's been out for nearly all of June.
I'm shopping an AWD LX in New England and my net quotes have ranged from 5200 - 4400 off MSRP which equal 2500 - 1700 below net invoice (invoice plus dest.). Does this mean the dealers are making little or no money, no because A) they have the $2k marketing support and then B.) they have 3% "dealer" hold back which means if you buy a vehicle at $2K below net invoice, they're still making 3% profit.
    Atleast that's my understanding.
Conventional wisdom suggests that an increased dealer incentive will be announced between June 29th and July 2 when the current incentive expires.

The MSRP of the 2wd navi is about 34000. I Don't know where you got 38500. If the 4000 diff represents add ons worth about $2000 (running boards, backup camera etc) you got a good deal.

    Happy Driving

Just bought LX 2WD last Friday. $22.8k including dest fee, TTL extra, around $24.9k OTD. I probably could've gotten a better deal for the Pilot, but my trade in was the major factor (Ford). they gave me the best overall OTD with the trade-in.

And I really didn't haggle much on the $24.9k OTD price for the car, because my trade price made the deal. So if you are just ONLY buying the car, then you should be able to get to $22.8k TTL extra very easily, amybe slightly lower. I had received a few internet qquotes in the low $22k range TTL extra. By the way, I assume they reduce their price with the $2k incentive.

And yes, yours seem high. Try to get it below $25k OTD. Maybe $24k??

Yes it includes the running boards, musiclink adaptor for the iPod, navi with back up camera, and the 5 oil changes.

    We love it!

Hi paulg16, Have you had occasion to take the car into the US for warranty work? If so, did it work? I can buy a new Accord in Washington or Oregon, import it into Canada and register it in Canada. I am getting mixed messages from US dealers as to whether the Honda America new car warranty is valid at US dealers for such a car. Some dealers say that I can bring it to them for warranty work. Others, who won't sell me a car, say it becomes a "gray market" car and is not covered by either Honda Canada or Honda America for warranty. You presumably have a warranty booklet from your purchase. Does it have any specific language specifying that the car must be registered in the US? ianfm

We just purchased our Pilot EX-L AWD with RES on the 22nd from Jim Coleman Honda in Clarksville. We paid $29894. That included their appearance package (mud guards, wheel locks, and pin stripe), backup sensors, oil changes for life, and destination. With MD tax, it came to $31388.70. We had $600 in rewards from buying our last car there and any services we had done bringing it to $30788.70 + $247 (ttl)=$31035.70 OTD. Everything was negotiated over the internet and quite painless. Thanks to all your help!

MSRP is $27,690, I was given a selling price of $23,485 plus TTL, with an initial OTD price of $25,681. I have been taking the MSRP and subtracting $4000, then adding some accessories (roof rack, mud guards, mats), sales tax, and $400 in dealer fees. That puts me at roughly 26,500 OTD. Didn't mention, I planned on taking the special financing, 4.9/60months, instead of dealer cash. And they offering a lifetime warranty (Florida Dealer thing??).

The dealer came back with $26,500 OTD w/o the accessories, which would put me OTD at over $27,000. I haven't said yes, but I've shot myself in the foot already if I started out $1000 to high.

Thanks for the input fatire1 and jwhom.

Just to pass on my experience... I bought my Acura in Canada, imported it to the US when I moved to the states and found out that the warranty would not be honoured in the US... if warranty or recall work was required, it would have to be done back in Canada. Thankfully, that never happened... and if it did... I'm not too far from the border... but food for thought.

    Cheers,

I just purchased a 2007 Honda Pilot EX-L (no Nav or RES) with window tint here in Houston. Sticker price was $32,840 (inlcudes Dest. and tint). I got it for $27,600 ($5240 below sticker), with an OTD price of $29,783. You think I got a decent deal?
  • dpresdpres Member Posts: 17
I think you had a MSRP of 33,840, which would make you paying 6,240 under MSRP which is a good deal. I maybe would have waited until next month to see if the manufacturer to dealer incentive increased by any. Other than that, you've done about as good as you can. You should post the dealer for others in your area.
  • dpresdpres Member Posts: 17
I should clarify. I had based the previous post on the EX-L 4x4...which you did not specify if you had or not.
  • trmend1trmend1 Member Posts: 59
That would be a darn fine decent deal! I wish the dealers here would actually "deal"!! I'm holding out for July and probably better incentives and get the vehicle around that price.

    gordonfreeman,

How did you get Holmes to come down on their price. I have been looking around Omaha and Des moines for a Honda Odyssey EXL-RES. They only came down $200 when I made them a really low offer. They are at $29,900 now (invoice is 30,260 with destination).

    Thanks so much.

As I understand it, there is a $500 marketing incentive and another $2000 marketing incentive (via Edmunds info). I was also told there is financing also, but it can't be used with the incentives.

My question is since I am considering a 2WD EX-L RES that lists for $34,140 and invoices for $30,800, how can I get over $6000-6500 off of MSRP? Adding the incentive and difference of MSRP to invoice it is just shy of $6k. Are dealers giving up some of the holdback money to do this or is there something I am missing? I am debating buying this weekend or waiting until after the 4th if that historically has been better. Thanks!

I am on the market looking for 07 Pilot EX AWD. What is best price can I get in Milwaukee area? Could anyone give some help? Thanks.

It's a 2WD and I got it at John Eagle Honda here in Houston.

The $500 only applies with financing through Honda, and not any special APR either. I was told if I score above a 711 on TransAmerica I could obtain 5.99% on 60 mos, FYI.
Also I was told by a straight shooting dealer I trust here in NH the dealer hold back was cut to 2% of invoice on cars shipped Jan. or later, not 3% as mentioned earlier in this thread.
So assuming your invoice $ above is NET (incl. Dest. fee) and the dealer doc fee is $250, AND you use Honda financing (otherwise reduce incentive by $500) the math works out like this for a zero dealer profit deal.
    NET INV $30,800
    INCENTIVE ($2,500)
    DOC.FEE $250
    DHB ($616)
    O-T-D PRICE $27,934
    PROFIT $0

    MSRP $34,140
    MSRP DIS $6,206
I'm not saying you can get a zero profit deal, I'm guessing that would probably only be possible if the dealer was over-loaded with the model you want and feels desperate to move them.
    Hope this helps.
  • dpresdpres Member Posts: 17
A zero profit deal is unlikely. However, there are other hidden fees. Just make sure to note the following:

    1) Document Fees are nothing more than pure profit for a dealership. Some don't charge it, most do...the ones that don't typically have it wrapped up in the sale price.

    2) In addition to dealer holdback of 2%, there is another $500 (approximately) paid to the dealership by the manufacturer as part of the "Floorplan / Advertising."

    3) Fatire1 is correct, you can get the $500 discount through financing with honda AND the current $2,000 manufacturer to deal incentive. If they won't do it (and you know your credit/beacon score) get up and leave. You'd be amazed at how quickly they will be able to accomodate an additional $500 off.

    4) Any type of DEALER options...pinstripe, seat scotchguard, mudflaps...are completely worthless. Do not let the dealer wrap them up into the MSRP with the car. Tell them that you do not want any of those options and to remove them from you car because you aren't paying. Strangely, you can either get them all for free or at most $100 after saying that because they won't/can't remove it.

    5) Consider purchasing colors that are high in inventory, usually this can save you 100-200 dollars. Apparently it's the desert rock color now.

    6) Consider an AWD/4x4 model in areas (southern US) which most people aren't interested. These often sit on the dealer's lot significantly longer than the 2WDs and you can get a better deal. The opposite is true if you live in areas where 4x4 is a welcomed option.

    7) If a dealer doesn't have your exact vehicle in stock, don't let them go get it for you. It costs them money and time to do that, and you end up paying for it. Call around and go to the dealership with your exact model/options. Bring the good-faith estimates from other dealerships and ask if they will beat it. Usually they will by at least 200.

That was long, but hope it helps.

I just negotiated $28K OTD for an 07 2WD EX-L (No Nav or RES) in NC. Was tempted to wait until next month for possible better incentives but wasn't sure if the one I wanted would still be around.
  • stomprocketstomprocket Member Posts: 15
Congratulations! I hope you enjoy your new Pilot. Since OTD price differs everywhere (we have high doc fees here as well as tags and tax), what was your price before TTL?
  • stomprocketstomprocket Member Posts: 15
fatire1 and Dan thanks for your responses.

Thanks for the details that makes it a lot clearer. I was told that Honda financing (not special financing that would negate the $500 incentive) in this region (SW) was 6.5% (credit score above 711) for 60 months. Do you know if they have regional differences, or is it set by Honda national for rates?

Dealers here definitely junk up the vehicles with items I am not interested in. On one hand a good deal may be had on a vehicle that has sat in stock for a while (and had options put on it), on the other I want one that they just take the plastic wrap off of and is bone stock.

I may just wait for July incentives if the dealers I am working with are "too proud" of the aging stock on their lots this month! Thanks again.

I just bought a 2007 Pilot EX 4WD for $26,500+ TTL. The best deal is $25,800 + TTL but I would have had to drive to Jasper, Alabama to get that. Ray with Precision Honda offered to drive the vehicle to CO for $800. As you can see, I am better off paying more locally.

If you are near Jasper, AL, work with Ray. He is great.

Thanks to everyone in this forum. The information definitely helped me get the best local deal possible.

I am shopping around for a 2007 2WD Pilot LX. The price of $24,900.00 out the door is the best I have gotten. I know Honda has the $2500.00 incentive going on which is included in this price. Is this a good price or can I do better and if so where? Thanks.
  • mhawkermhawker Member Posts: 5
I got to $25,535 otd for a 07 Pilot LX 2WD that I added splash guards, roof rack, and cargo tray to. That's as good I seemed to be able to get in our area, but I'm no great negotiator. Honda of Bradenton always gave me the best price FYI. I've seen post here that say to shot for $24,000 otd (see post #9331). There seem to be so few LXs left in our area, I don't know if you can get a rock bottom deal.

I didn't end up taking the deal, but it didn't have anything to do with the final price. And you might try the Bradenton Honda internet sales, I dealt with a great guy, almost sorry I didn't buy from him. Post back, I'd be interested in the price you end up with.

    Kid,
I did not purchase. I am now leaning towads getting a CX9. I do not fancy the Pilot shape and was hoping that the 2008 would have been a remodel.. but the prices are still good there. I think by next week you should be really able to get much better deals... 4th July week is always nice for deals.

FWIW I'll be in the market for a new Pilot next month (hope the deals get better). I've been lurking the lots via the internet for remaining 2007's and spotted a 2008 just a few mins. ago. This dealer does a good job of updating the inventory daily.
Anybody else purchase or will be purchasing in the U.P. of Michigan or in Northern WI?

So far I haven't gotten any better than 28,500 for and EXL AWD w/o RES or NAV. The only quote at that price w/ NAV was at Renton Honda. I must say my voicemail is getting a tad full with call backs. They are getting desperate to dump inventory but now with the rumour of another grand in incentive money for the month of July I am going to hold until then. The best vibes I got from dealerships here was Klein Honda in Everett, the worst vibes from Bellevue Honda, the most indifferent attitude was from Lynnwood and Sims, the most eager was Renton and West Hills in Bremerton.

I may wait as well. How did you hear there may be another grand incentive?

I'm curious if anyone can confirm from a reliable Honda source or Edmunds what the incentives will be come July 3?
  • giventoflygiventofly Member Posts: 10
Autopark Honda in Cary, NC. They wouldn't include any options at that price, and I didn't want to pay the inflated dealer prices. The details are below:

    Vehicle Price: $26726.21
    Tax - NC 3%: $802.79
    Doc Fee: $398
    Tags: $74

Used the Honda standard finacing at 5.94%. Picked up the car tonight and everything went smoothly, no surprises or pressure to by extended warranty, etc. Overall a great experience.

just negotiated a deal for EXL AWD with Navigation(dark cherry) and 'appearance' package for $29,700.00
Could have waited till July but....
  • trmend1trmend1 Member Posts: 59
There hasn't been any solid news about the upped amounts for the incentives, however, based upon the previous 2 summers, that has been the case at varying amounts. We will have to see what happens. I would imagine that the news of the latest incentives would hit the websites fairly quickly. Pre-release of information before the date would be tricky to find... but I'm sure someone knows somewhere!

I'll be interested to see what ad campaign honda will have come July 3rd... perhaps a 4th of July sales blitz or something. The key for me.. is that I will buy on MY time and my terms and not let the salespeople do the scare tactic thing. I don't know why they think us dumb as nails to think that with an inventory of some dealers with 50 - 100 pilots in stock that we know that the prices will come down eventually. The 08's will be rolling in soon enough! It is a tad insulting... but it is their modus operandi.

West Hills is filling my inbox both via the internet and my cell... we will see...

    Cheers,

I've been watching this forum for about 2 months, and I feel I have something to add.

    1. A dealership in Eastern Iowa is advertising 0% financing on Pilots and Ridgelines.

    2. I physically saw a few 2008 models on a lot today. It was an "SE" model with cloth for $33-34K. I couldn't tell what the extra features were, it looked like a 2007.
  • stomprocketstomprocket Member Posts: 15
I am right with you on buying on my time and terms. Dealers need to sell cars, I need to buy one but have a lot of manufacturers and dealers to choose from. While running errands today I drove past a Honda dealer and it was not that busy. I believe the 4th of July will be light around here as well as many people I talk with are taking vacation since it falls mid week.

The best quote for EX-L RES 2WD is 28,800 in this area. I can hold out and wait for something a little better. Inventory is high here and prices won't rise and will probably go lower!

Good luck to you on your purchase and keep us posted on the results.
