That is still more than the $500-$800 over invoice prices in Ohio or western Pa, but at least it's not the insulting $500-$700 off MSRP token discounts many DC/Baltimore area dealers had been quoting.
Autobytel has invoice prices for 2005 Honda Pilot. Here is a glimpse:
2005 Honda Pilot EX 5-Spd AT

2005 Honda Pilot EX 5-Spd AT with Leather
Invoice: $28,894;MSRP: $32,120
2005 Honda Pilot EX 5-Spd AT with Leather and DVD
Invoice: $30,242;MSRP: $33,620
2005 Honda Pilot EX 5-Spd AT with Leather and Nav System
Invoice: $30,691; MSRP: $34,120
2005 Honda Pilot LX 5-Spd AT
Invoice: $24,608; MSRP: $27,350
Live in Boston..local dealers where insisted on playing the stupid car sales game, with closer 1, closer 2, etc
Emailed these folks, quoted price well below what I was being offered in Beantown. Got a very fair financing package. flew out on Thursday, drove back yesterday..great foliage, straight forward transaction and no BS.
definitely worth the trip
good luck
Where is a good place to get a Pilot? Don't really want to go out of state.

The 2005 EX-L w/ Nav invoices for $31,200. A good price w/o add-ons would be $31,700 to $32,000 (from the ubiquitous Mike Pruitt Honda).
I guess it's your business to add on a bunch of do-dads, but there are reports of 2004 MDX's with Navigation going for $37.5k. And that includes numerous additional features and a Nav system which is far superior to the Pilot's. I even think a $45k GX470 is a relatively better deal than a $35k Pilot, if you really want to spend more money on added features. Not to mention that the GX470 qualifies for accelerated depreciation if you qualify.
Nothing against the Pilot; just my opinion of relative values.
across the country along with the prices. Several dealers had below invoicing pricing on an 04 Pilot but I can't find the site again. It is not Autotrader. Anyone know which site it is?
After checking out a 2005 Pilot, I was very dissapointed that the navigation system wasn't upgraded as had been rumored (still small 6" screen, not voice activated). In essence, Honda is charging $2,000 for this low end navigation system on the Pilot, whereas the far superior system on our 2004 TL (8", voice activated) was "only" $2,000. I believe the 2005 MDX may get the 8" screen upgrade from their 7" one in 2004.
So - and this is jut my opinion - I believe the Pilot is an excellent basic SUV that offers vey good value at the EX-L level. Or even the EX-L RES level (at least that system is the same between the Pilot and MDX). But take an EX-L Nav and load it up with other ad ons for $35k, and I would just as soon spend the extra money for a GX470 or MDX Nav (considering side curtain airbags are also a strong preference of ours).
Take my opinion only for what it's worth. There's a good chance I won't do any of the above. My latest thinking is that the XC90 V8 (w/6speed transmission) that is coming out in early 2005 is the route we will go. It looks like it will bridge the gap between 7-seat functionality we need with the driving dynamics I prefer (i.e. similar to X5 and Cayenne). It also wins points from my wife who is a safety fanatic.
I am also shooping for a 05 Pilot in the SF bay area. Can you please give me your dealer info. Thanks

$500 alone in improved resale value..$500 for the rest seems pretty cheap..I'd vote for the 2005
I flew to Cleveland from Maryland. They picked me up at the airport and I drove back home. You don't pay tax in OH, you pay the tax where you register the vehicle. You get a 30 day temp tag from Ohio. Once you receive the title, then you can register your vehicle in your state.

Good deal?
Go to this board:

follow the directions at the top of the thread regarding all the info you should post and you'll get a response in a day or 2 telling you a much more accurate trade-in value.
you also might consider selling it privately since used Odysseys are like gold to minivan buyers.

I traded my 2000 Odyssey EX (around 26K miles) almost a year ago for an '04 Sienna. The gave $10000 and several dealers quoted the similar price. I signed papers for the Sienna (was great deal round town). I returned and talked about trade in when they had the VIN (car has to ordered). But still no better deal on trade in. I wanted to sell it to private party but didn't have time for test drive.
It is very disappointed. Like many suggested, shop around or be patient for great deal. Try some used car dealers or even on the internet.
Also, I paid $500 over invoice on an 'O5 ($2,700 under MSRP)in OH. Its just a short flight and a 6 hour drive back. Dealers in MD weren't willing to deal on 'O5s
I read where I think you flew to Ohio to get yours. At this point, I'd do that before going back to that dealer. I plan to put it on the web and see if I can sell it. They seem to be going for quite a bit. There are a few more dealers in the area as well. I'm also considering a 4Runner.
I test drove a 2005 EXL last night ... and ... um ... I liked it a lot ...
Thanks!
I bought 05 Pilot LX today and paid $24,908 (Invoice $24,608 +$300)+ $515 Destination + $162 tags, title and dealer fees + $322 for 4 yr. NJ registration + $1,525.38 (6% NJ tax)+ $7.50 NJ tier tax = Total of $27,439.88 OTD.
The dealer is happy to sale at this price in the near future.
Any Pilot Invoice + $300 is following for 2005 pilots (V6, 5at)
LX $24,908
EX $27,217
EXL $29,194
EXL-DVD $30,542
EXL-Nav $30,991
