the pricing info is valid here, but you may want to ask your "why did you buy a pilot" question over on the other honda pilot board, else the hosts will chastise you.

Pretty much same thing I said in my above post. you'll get alot more action on the other board since not everyone who has already bought a pilot continues to monitor the pricing board.

It seems the lowest price for '05 EXL (no DVD/NAV) was reported as $29.9k (post # 2757) on this board. Has anyone in the SF Bay Area matched that price? Early probing has got me about $30.9k from SF Honda. Thanks in advance.
That looks like a good buy, I paid 31250 for the same car and I travelled 600 miles to get it...nobody in my area was discounting below list at the end of September
No links to dealer inventory. Just mention the name of the dealership, please!

My bad for giving a full URL to the inventory. But, in any case Jeff Wyler Honda in KY seems to be pretty open about invoices. Doesn't do me any good as I am in MN
I purchased 2005 Honda Pilot EXL with Navigation for $33,900 from a dealer in Baltimore area.(I am just posting this just as an information for people who are looking in Maryland area).I found this as a better deal compared to others in the same area.
FWIW, I have been offered $1,500 over invoice on any Pilot by a Washington DC area dealer that would put the price at approximately $32,700 for the EXL w/ Nav (MSRP = $34,625; Invoice approx. $31,200)
That is still more than the $500-$800 over invoice prices in Ohio or western Pa, but at least it's not the insulting $500-$700 off MSRP token discounts many DC/Baltimore area dealers had been quoting.
Hello everyone, Autobytel has invoice prices for 2005 Honda Pilot. Here is a glimpse: 2005 Honda Pilot EX 5-Spd AT Invoice: $26,917;MSRP: $29,920 2005 Honda Pilot EX 5-Spd AT with Leather Invoice: $28,894;MSRP: $32,120 2005 Honda Pilot EX 5-Spd AT with Leather and DVD Invoice: $30,242;MSRP: $33,620 2005 Honda Pilot EX 5-Spd AT with Leather and Nav System Invoice: $30,691; MSRP: $34,120 2005 Honda Pilot LX 5-Spd AT Invoice: $24,608; MSRP: $27,350
hello everyone. was just wondering what a good price for a 2004 honda pilot ex or even an ex-L should be? i live in appleton, wisconsin. thanks for any and all comments. are they going for invoice yet or even slightly under? also, does the price the dealer will sell for really differ much from state to state or region to region? hard to believe dealers will forgo a sale on 04's just to make a set minimum amount on their vehicle. thanks all, wayne
I just purchased a 04 EX w/o leather from Mike Pruitt Honda in Akron Ohio...paid 26100 incl dest.
Live in Boston..local dealers where insisted on playing the stupid car sales game, with closer 1, closer 2, etc
Emailed these folks, quoted price well below what I was being offered in Beantown. Got a very fair financing package. flew out on Thursday, drove back yesterday..great foliage, straight forward transaction and no BS.
I live in the Raleigh area (Rocky Mount, about 75 miels east of Raleigh). Sold my Chevy Astro van and then realized that since first child in 83, we have always had a minivan (Voyager, then Astro) to haul bigger things in etc. Now I realize I need something and am seriously considering Honda Pilot. Buought my daughter a used Honda civic for collge and she swears by it (I swear at my Impala!!)
Where is a good place to get a Pilot? Don't really want to go out of state.
thanks flyfish1. just went and talked to a dealer, he said he could sell it for $27220 incl. dest. looks like unless i want ot jump on the plane i might be playing the ol' "dealer 1 beat dealer 2 price" game. i hate that. wayne
The 2005 EX-L w/ Nav invoices for $31,200. A good price w/o add-ons would be $31,700 to $32,000 (from the ubiquitous Mike Pruitt Honda).
I guess it's your business to add on a bunch of do-dads, but there are reports of 2004 MDX's with Navigation going for $37.5k. And that includes numerous additional features and a Nav system which is far superior to the Pilot's. I even think a $45k GX470 is a relatively better deal than a $35k Pilot, if you really want to spend more money on added features. Not to mention that the GX470 qualifies for accelerated depreciation if you qualify.
Nothing against the Pilot; just my opinion of relative values.
I found a site that listed online dealer inventory across the country along with the prices. Several dealers had below invoicing pricing on an 04 Pilot but I can't find the site again. It is not Autotrader. Anyone know which site it is?
But how much would that MDX or GX be with similar add ons? or are you implying that they come standard with running boards/tow package/fog lights/cross bars/lowjack?
The GX comes standard with running boards, tow package & fog lights. Not sure about cross bars. I've never been tempted to buy low jack, given the advancement in standard security systems / alarms.
After checking out a 2005 Pilot, I was very dissapointed that the navigation system wasn't upgraded as had been rumored (still small 6" screen, not voice activated). In essence, Honda is charging $2,000 for this low end navigation system on the Pilot, whereas the far superior system on our 2004 TL (8", voice activated) was "only" $2,000. I believe the 2005 MDX may get the 8" screen upgrade from their 7" one in 2004.
So - and this is jut my opinion - I believe the Pilot is an excellent basic SUV that offers vey good value at the EX-L level. Or even the EX-L RES level (at least that system is the same between the Pilot and MDX). But take an EX-L Nav and load it up with other ad ons for $35k, and I would just as soon spend the extra money for a GX470 or MDX Nav (considering side curtain airbags are also a strong preference of ours).
Take my opinion only for what it's worth. There's a good chance I won't do any of the above. My latest thinking is that the XC90 V8 (w/6speed transmission) that is coming out in early 2005 is the route we will go. It looks like it will bridge the gap between 7-seat functionality we need with the driving dynamics I prefer (i.e. similar to X5 and Cayenne). It also wins points from my wife who is a safety fanatic.
You can get a 2005 Pilot EX-L w/ DVD for $31,250 on the road (but excl tax & title) from Mike Pruitt Honda in Akron.. For the $1000 difference, you get a sunroof, in dash 6 disk CD player, 5 extra horses, new 4th& 5th gear ratios that presumably improve highway driving AND a newer model year..I think the newer model year is worth $500 alone in improved resale value..$500 for the rest seems pretty cheap..I'd vote for the 2005
Well, tax and title ran me $1,700.00, so the difference between and 2004 & 2005 EX-L with DVD in your case is $2700...and that's a cat of a different color...While I opted for the 2005, I would be hard pressed to turn that deal down on the 2004.
I am ready to buy a 2005 Honda Pilot EX-L. However, all the qoute that I get here in Minnesota are high (around $31,500 plus tax and license). Where can I get a good deal? If it is an out of state Honda dealer, than please advise me on how to do the transaction (I mean to get it into Minnesota, the taxes, and license process). If you want, you can email me the information at klsmusic@hotmail.com. Thanks.
I am being offered 2004 Pilot EX-L for 28000 (incl Dest.)+ TTL, has anyone been offered better deal in NJ. I have searched this message board but haven't found anything.
Mike Pruitt Honda in Akron OH. $29,909 + 100 doc fee and 25 temp tag fee.
I flew to Cleveland from Maryland. They picked me up at the airport and I drove back home. You don't pay tax in OH, you pay the tax where you register the vehicle. You get a 30 day temp tag from Ohio. Once you receive the title, then you can register your vehicle in your state.
I got $28.5K in North Jersey for a 2004 Pilot EX-L (dest/TTL) back in mid-August, so I would suspect you could do better than $28K for the same in mid-October with the 2005's out and about.
My brother paid $29980 for his '04 EX-L with DVD (with no add-ons or options) in MA last month. He got the same deal in RI but the dealer in MA gave him a better deal on his trade-in. I thought people are getting a great deal on '04 model now. It sounds a great deal for MP Honda at this early stage. It is like $1250 more for newer model.
I went to trade in my Ody for a Pilot yesterday. Thanks for all of your insight and sharing your experiences on here. but I am a little hacked. They wanted MSRP for an 05 LX LRES and running boards -- $35k+. They wanted $31,500+ for an 04 with same equip. The bad part is they would only give me $12,400 for my 01 Ody EX w/o nav. with 52k miles. And they know I use synthetic motor oil and have new Michelin HydroEdge and did the brakes last year. NADA trade in is over $17k. So I walked, and wasn't real thrilled. The Ody is good and I could keep it for a long time, just trying to get out of the van, tired of driving a minivan. Any thoughts?
RFeng1, I got my Pilot at Oakland Honda for $850 over invoice plus tax and license. Not bad for this kind of price in the SF Bay Area. Anyone else get a better deal around here?
NADA is about as useful as a cold. Go to this board: Real-World Trade-In Values follow the directions at the top of the thread regarding all the info you should post and you'll get a response in a day or 2 telling you a much more accurate trade-in value.
you also might consider selling it privately since used Odysseys are like gold to minivan buyers.

I definitely will not pay MSRP for '05 Pilot EX-L with DVD and not $31.5 for '04 model. Many here (including my brother) paid $30K for '04 EX-L with DVD, some even got the running boards for the similar price range. I mean $1500 of running boards installed! No way!
I traded my 2000 Odyssey EX (around 26K miles) almost a year ago for an '04 Sienna. The gave $10000 and several dealers quoted the similar price. I signed papers for the Sienna (was great deal round town). I returned and talked about trade in when they had the VIN (car has to ordered). But still no better deal on trade in. I wanted to sell it to private party but didn't have time for test drive.
It is very disappointed. Like many suggested, shop around or be patient for great deal. Try some used car dealers or even on the internet.
ODY is worth maybe 13500 on a trade. Take it to carmax see what they will give you and then work up from there at dealership.
Also, I paid $500 over invoice on an 'O5 ($2,700 under MSRP)in OH. Its just a short flight and a 6 hour drive back. Dealers in MD weren't willing to deal on 'O5s
I read where I think you flew to Ohio to get yours. At this point, I'd do that before going back to that dealer. I plan to put it on the web and see if I can sell it. They seem to be going for quite a bit. There are a few more dealers in the area as well. I'm also considering a 4Runner.
I test drove a 2005 EXL last night ... and ... um ... I liked it a lot ... Now, I guess I have to wonder about the prices ... If anybody bought a 2005 in Minnesota, could you please share your experiences?
Yes, I too wanted to make it easy when trading in a 2003 Jeep Liberty Limited at the Honda dealer (TMV suggested approximately $19,750... Kelly Blue Book suggested commercial re-sale value of $23,000 (...or a consumer-to-consumer value of $21,000). So what did the Los Angeles dealer offer... $13,000. So, I vented my rage and posted it on autotrader.com and have two folks competing for it at about $20,500. So, as much as you might hate haggling with the public (and I do)... it could make a big difference.
