Corona Honda sent me an email for $500 over invoice on an 05 with nav so if you are in Orange County or LA county thats a good place to go. Also I have bought 2 cars from Hardin Honda in Anaheim (I think) its off the 57. And when I bought my 02 accord they said 200 over invoices is good so you may try there.

Live in Katy/Houston, Texas area. Local Honda dealers won't deal. Anyone has good experience recently in buying 2005 Honda Pilot w/Leather and Nav in Houston or vicinity (2-300 miles radius)? Appreciate for any information.
    Thanks

Paid invoice ($29408.90 + TT&L including the $515 destination fee) at Bankston Honda in Lewisville for my 2005 Billet Silver Metallic Pilot. Very good experience - very low pressure dealership. I actually had a lower bid ($200 below invoice) from another dealership, but they tried to low-ball me on my trade-in. No extra fees besides a low $50 doc fee. I'd be happy to recommend my salesman and the dealership - send me an email for more info.

Do your due diligence and you can get a good deal in the Dallas area.

(Cookiecar - how about a Southwest flight to Dallas for <$100 to get a better deal?)

Hi there! I thought I'd chime in on the DFW price area topic. My wife just recently drove her new Pilot home at a $500 over invoice deal from Fowler Honda in Norman, Oklahoma. Good experience with no hassles! We didn't have a trade so there was no issues there.

Cookiecar - try these guys if you can't get the deal you are looking for in Tx!

I saw that my NE OK dealer Mark Roberts Honda Bartelsville website has all 05 listed with about 3k discount.
that was fast. High production = lower price when demand has been met.

Finally decided to get a Pilot. It was down to a Pilot and Highlander and the Pilot just plain won.

Went to a local dealer and they wouldn't budge much off MSRP, they gave me KBB "Good" trade in value for my car, but wouldn't go beyond Edmunds "TMV - 29,452" for an EX Cloth. They actually printed out KBB and Edmunds and said this is a "Fair deal". I was asking for KBB on my car and 28,000 (about 600 over invoice for the Pilot), so I left without the Pilot :(. Any suggestions??

Walk in there again, with a check made out to the dealer for the price that you want to pay, and tell them if they want to make the sale to accept your number.
Of course you'll be financing but you've made your point...
  • njgnjg Member Posts: 3
Dealerships have very few LX models in stock, but a ton of EXs.
Is it possible that they will go below invoice on them?
  • kkrausekkrause Member Posts: 8
I've looked over a number of pages here, but most people seem to be buying Pilots as opposed to leasing. My wife and I are interested in leasing one. Can some of you who have leased please let me know what sort of deals you've been getting on an EX. I'd like a 36-42 month term with 12k miles/year.

    Thanks!
  • mazdarxmazdarx Member Posts: 10
I just leased a 2005 Honda Pilot EX with Leather for the following terms:

    $2,000 Down
    + 294.50 First Month's Payment
    + 300 Security Deposit
    + 0 No Acquisition Fee
    + 525 Freight
    and
294.50 per month for 42 months
with 15K miles per year allowed.

I did all of the computations with the residual, cost factor, and terms, and the cost was $740 below invoice.

With 12K miles instead of 15K miles, the same exact figures were in place, except the payment was lowered to $280 per month.

My goal was to get the same deal on a EX w/leather
as an EX that Honda advertises, except I was additionally NOT willing to pay an acquisition fee.

    GOOD LUCK!

    mazdarx,

That sounds like a great deal. In what area do you live? I'm in the Metro Detroit area.

    Thanks

    Hi, VaTechFan...

I somehow left that part out... It was an EX-L (no RES or NAV). No extras besides some pinstriping done by the dealership. (It showed up as $99 on the window sticker, but we were NOT charged extra.) We looked at sidesteps/running boards, but decided against them. It already has everything we really wanted and then some (seat heaters in TX...).

On a side note, I have had a couple of people already contact me about my experience and have gladly referred them to my salesman - I bet he is one happy guy right now! :)
  • jmjinpdxjmjinpdx Member Posts: 2
Just bought a 2005 EX-L for $30,400 in Oregon (where demand is high). Leased it with $1000 due at signing, $355 a month for 42 mos, 15,000 miles per year. We felt it was as good a deal as we were going to get in our area.
  • njgnjg Member Posts: 3
Did you guys get your lease through American Honda? Or through a secodary bank?
Also I assume that taxes are not included in that price?
  • kkrausekkrause Member Posts: 8
    jmjinpdx,

Did you pay $1000 out of pocket, or was it $1000 down plus up-front costs (security deposit, 1st month, title, etc.)? Also, does the $355 include tax?

I'm trying to work a deal right now on a Pilot and any additional info would be very helpful.

You can check my profile to send me an e-mail, as well.

    Thanks

The lease was through Honda and the $1000 included acquisition fee,DMV fee and 1st month payment. There is no sales tax in Oregon. I had 2 dealers tell me they could not match that offer so I think it was a very good deal.
  • kkrausekkrause Member Posts: 8
Thanks ... I talked the local dealership here into matching the offer you got, so I'm excited! Thanks for your help.

Bought a Pilot EX-l for $29,709 incl dest. at a high volume Mass. dealership. MSRP was 32,635. I got a dozen or so internet quotes (CT,RI,MA)that ranged from MSRP -$100 to $29,709. I had to drive 50 miles but I saved $800 from the best price I could get from my local dealer.
I visited several dealers and the bottom line from most was between 30 - 31K. The dealer I bought from had about 20 - 30 Pilots on the lot.

My advice is to visit the Honda web site, get links to every dealer within your driving range and haggle with them over the internet.

Can anyone share with me any pricing that they have successfully negotiated for a 2005 Honda Pilot. The quotes that I have received are from dealers in the Puget Sound area that are affiliated with Costco and Car.com. They both quoted the same price of $31,409 for the 2005 EX-L. This includes all costs except tax, license and accessories. Thank you!

I'm in the New England area and was looking for a 2004 Pilot EX-L, what dealership did you go to?
  • malo_4malo_4 Member Posts: 15
Well I am pretty excited, we finally got our '05 Desert Rock Pilot EX. We picked it up Saturday. Paid $200 over invoice and had a great experience with El Paso Honda.

    Long version:
I am in New Mexico and couldn't get dealers around this area to deal. I am originally from Nebraska, going back to visit often so I also received quotes from all over the Midwest. None of them were coming very far off MSRP so after hearing about MP in OH I received a quote from them. The quoted me $500 over invoice, which is great but OH is too far for me. I checked with dealers around here to see if they would match the price but they wouldn't.
My wife and I were frustrated. After trying a couple more places we lucked out. El Paso, TX is a couple hours away and El Paso Honda, after hearing our MP quote, said they would sell it for $200 over invoice. We had a deal.
We had to wait about 3 weeks for the dealership to get their next order in with the color we wanted. Almost everything was taken care of over email and phone. Our salesperson was awesome, very personable. That basically is the story. We drove down and picked it up on Sat.

Can you tell me the name of the dealership in Mass. If from CT so I wouldn't mind taking a drive up there if I could save a decent amount of money. Thanks

Herb Chambers in Seekonk, MA. I paid $300 over invoice.

Looking for what I should pay for a pilot 100K mile extended warranty on a new purchase. Any help would be appreciated.
  • niblick45niblick45 Member Posts: 12
I think my dealer wanted around $1700.
  • autoshopperautoshopper Member Posts: 5
This does not answer your direct question but I would reconsider the extended warranty. The value add for typical hondas is that fact that they are low maintenance. I have owned two hondas...CRV and a Prelude. Great cars and never had a need for an extended warranty. Save your money for a rainy day.

Houston and expecially El Paso are a litt far away. Who has had a good buy experience in Raleigh or maybe Atlanta Ga area?
  • dezinhodezinho Member Posts: 6
I got a quote for $30900 directly from one of Honda dealer's internet sales person. I asked 4 dealers to quote me and most didn't give you a quote over e-mail but this one did. You should visit all the Honda dealer web pages and send an inquiry and see who responds. I am from the greater Seattle area.

Picked up my Black 2005 Pilot EX-L Saddle (no NAV/DVD) for 30,009 (600 over invoice) good experience with the dealer. Took quite a few emails and persistence to get the price. My biggest closing point was my trade-in, kept getting low-balled from other dealers. Ended up reasonably on the trade. Bought from Hall Honda in Virginia Beach, VA.
  • theuser005theuser005 Member Posts: 15
    I just picked up 2005 Pilot EX-L w/ Navi, Black/Gray interior for $31495 + $250 for dealer added crap (leather/paint protection, wheel locks, mud guards) + tax/tags.

I also bought the 100k/7yr HondaCare warranty for $1472.

What do you guys think about the deal? It was $35,100 out the door price.

not sure if this was ever posted here or just on the standard Honda Pilot discussion, but this is a good frame of reference for warranty prices:
    http://www.hondacare.org/

bring that to your dealer and have them meet or beat it. Otherwise, get it elsewhere. We bought our 5yr/100k warranty from Curry Honda (out in the midwest somewhere) via fax and phone for a price that our local dealer told us they couldn't come close to matching.

and as far as those who think "hey, its a honda, who needs an extended warranty." I have to point out the tranny problems. Yes, its a small chance of happening, but its still a chance, and that's what a warranty is all about.

Well, I visited the website: http://www.hondacare.org

But, who are they - what is their phone number - how reliable are they? Where are their office?

    How much they cover?

    No info at all.

How can you rely someone like this.

    Thanks.
  • cove148cove148 Member Posts: 117
I agree, the only extended warranty I would buy is from the factory direct. I have always bought and was able to negotiate the price on the extended warranty. With shop labor close to $100 an hour I consider it cheap insurance and peace of mind to have the protection for 6yrs/100K. Also has made the resale of my cars easier, when you can transfer the balance of the warranty for $25 and give the new buyer a period of time that his car is covered.
  • qbrozenqbrozen Member Posts: 33,783
Its the Hondacare warranty. Exactly the same you would buy anywhere else. Its the factory extended warranty. Now, having said that, I also would be very hesitant to purchase via that website. Like I said, though, use it for the purposes of dealing with your local dealer. Anyway, in another forum, Shifty did some investigating and found the owner of that site was a particular dealership in the midwest. I don't remember exactly who because I contacted so many, but it may very well have been Curry Honda (the dealership I ended up buying the warranty from in the end).

I am picking up my Sage EX-L today from Kay Honda. Paid $29,410. I emailed 5 dealers last week and they all qouted invoice. I went to each one with 2 trade ins and Kay gave me the most $$. I am not sure if it's because of the end of the month but an '05 at invoice seems doable in Central NJ (Any color, NAV or not). It was tough working the Trade in $$ but everyone at Kay Honda are great

Has anyone done the Leadership Purchase plan rather than buy? Seems like a better option than traditional lease deals, and I am definitely planning not to keep this car "forever" so I am leaning in that direction. Just wondering if anyone has heard of any concerns with Honda's program. Thanks.

Many Hondas are at or below invoice these days. What about the Pilots?

I received this quote from a dealer in LA area:

    2004 Honda Pilot EX-LDVD
    MSRP: 32860
    YOUR INTERNET SPECIAL PRICE: 28688

    2005 Honda Pilot EX-L
    MSRP: 32635
    YOUR INTERNET SPECIAL PRICE: 29388

The question is: can I do better in the Southern California area?

Your best bet is to go to the Honda site. Look up the local dealers near you and Request a quote (you can do it all from there) from each one. They will probably follow up, then you could play them against each other with your lowest bid. My initial quote from all last week was invoice $29409, when I called them back with the "beat this price" game I had one down to $400 below. But i went with the one that gave me the best OUT the door price (Trade ins, fees, etc). If you don't have a trade it will be alot easier. I am in the North East, so I can't speak for No/So Cali. Good luck

    Hi;

I just bought new 2005 Honda Pilot LX new for 24,499 destination included from Richards Honda.

    I hope it helps.
  • isellhondasisellhondas Member Posts: 20,342
As slow as LX Pilots sell compared to the higher models, it's likely a dealer would be willing to cut a skinny deal to get rid of one that's been in inventory for awhile.
  • wfaywfay Member Posts: 6
Just bought a 2004 EX-L from Wolfchase Honda (TN) for $27,615 plus $279 doc and assorted state/county fees, out the door after all taxes etc was $30,015. Their Internet Manager was great to work with and very responsive. My price included some dealer add-ons like wheel locks and mudguards. Also I got a Loyalty card good for oil changes, car washes, and various other free services which is a nice bonus.

I faxed about 40 dealers inside 300 miles (and a few others recommended in this thread) and cheapest was Jacobs Twin by a couple hundred total but adding in the flight, gas, and of course 8hrs driving home it was a no-brainer to go with a local for just a little bit more. Plus we liked the tan/tan and JT only had black/tan. MP Honda was out of 2004 and gave a good price on 2005, but I wanted a 2004.

If that's what you paid, you paid MSRP. I happen to think a Pilot is a great value at MSRP but I know others will jump in here and tell you you paid too much!

If you are happy with your deal, that's all that matters. Enjoy!
