    Chris,

I think you got a good deal, I also could not find any other dealer to beat that price but I did get some tire locks, slash guards and a cargo tray for free at that price. Good luck with the running boards.

I think you got a great deal. At the price you paid, you wouldn't expect them to throw any thing in for free. They charged reasonable prices on the splash guards and crossbars, so there's nothing to regret.

    Enjoy your ride.

Looking for the same in Houston. Got an internet quote for 30128 including destination charge, OTD price of 32263. (through invoicedealers.com)

Please update as to where you buy from, as we need to purchase in end April/May.

Anyone successful in haggling on on cross bars/chrome side steps/fog lights/back up sensors?

This is the quote for a Pilot EXL with DVD:
    2005 PILOT DVD $30128.00
    TAX $1883.00
    INVENTORY TAX $74.34
    DOCUMENT FEE $50.00
    LICENSE FEE $72.30
    TITLE FEE $33.00
    INSPECTION FEE $21.75
    TOTAL $32263.00

And for the Pilot EXL NO DVD:
$28825.00 ($1400 difference between the two)

    Any ideas?

Also, anyone who installed an aftermarket DVD system in a 2005 Pilot (sunroof gets in the way) which one?

    thanks

I just bought an EXL in N.C. MSRP was 32,320.00 plus 515.00 Dest. and Hand. total on sticker 32,835.00. I paid 28,616. thats 4219.00 off. Not to bad, but I miss added what i wanted to pay, So I feel that I could have gotten down another 500.00 if I had tried.

Went by to test drive Pilot and Ody again yesterday (Saturday). Only wanted to test drive but he wanted to "give me some figures" OK. When we got through he then started up with the three reasons people don't buy the car (uh-oh here it comes). Got out ok but felt a little pressure to do the deal now and I haven't decided color or made a firm commitment (stock market just went down -again!).

Here are the prices they gave

2005 Honda EX-L with no add ons but with free tires for life if I have all my maintenance done there. (I move a lot and live 100 miles away but am over there a lot). Free 90 day ding removal; and a protective coat treatment that also provide free cleaning and detailing for I think 2 years.

    $32,835 reduced to $31,960
Trade in on 2001 Chevy Impala LS without leather $4100

    Total $27760 +TTL.

Kelly Blue Book lists my car in fair condition ( I think it is better but I will go low here) for $4720. (Good is $5700, I think car should come in at about $5300).

Now down the road after escaping dealer. Car Max with no haggle will buy my car, with no purchase or anything for $5100, reasonably close to the $5300 figure.

Cars Direct Price $29,638. (This is no internet shopping or effort). Could internet shop and get better.

Based upon this, I would be leaving $2000 on their table for the Pilot and $900 for my car!!!

Previous post for Ody indicated this dealer is high, even on internet pricing. Don't see how they stay in business, all it takes is a little effort and being informed by places like this. A simple check at Cars Direct and Car Max saves me $2900 over them.

(Will post test drive comments on Honda Pilor Thread)

Shopped prices in central florida, Orlando, Tampa, Lakeland. But the best deal I could find was at Holmes Honda in Shreveport, La. They quoted me 28,470 out the door with out tax tag and title since I have to register it in Florida. It cost me $300 to have it delivered so my price is 28,770. Dealers I contacted locally could not come w/i $1000 of the price. Very happy with the way the deal was completed. Easiest car purchase I have ever made. Mark

We are seriously looking at the EX-L, but my husband would like to have the towing package. Has anyone added this option recently? If so, what is the going price?

Also, we are in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. What is considered a good deal for a Pilot EX or EX-L in these parts? Any dealer experiences? I've heard a couple of folks say that dealer-installed leather seats might also be a cost-effective option. Any truth to that?

    Thanks!

    Hey everyone,
Looking at possibly buying a new 05 Pilot EXL w/o Nav or DVD. Anyone have any experience with the dealerships in the Atlanta area? Any recommendations? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi leoniv, while you're waiting for a response, you can use the "search this discussion" tool in the gray area near the top of this discussion. If you type in "Atlanta," you'll see posts by other members who shopped in that area. I didn't find anyone who bought the same trim level, but there are some dealership recommendations.

Live in MA and I have a quote for a Pilot EXL-RES for $30,000.00. Not sure if that includes all fees or if it is before all the fees are added on. Any thoughts, I want to know if I should maybe try Bedard's out in Western Mass. They were doing nice deals on the Odyssey's and wondered if I would do well by going to them for the Pilot.

    Thanks for all information.

I got my new 2005 Pilot EX last week for $26,500 including destination. Title, license and taxes extra. A $50 documentation fee is "standard" in Houston. No trade-in. Had 15 miles on Odometer. Built in Alabama 2/2005. Based on the new invoice price, this is $1161 below invoice.
  • carguy1234carguy1234 Member Posts: 233
Did they have a lot full of them or something? That price seems very good. Was this worked out with a fleet manager? Thanks.
  • mlandolfmlandolf Member Posts: 1
what dealership did you go to.
  • mxmom2mxmom2 Member Posts: 1
We just purchased the 05 Pilot EX-L RES on Feb.28. We added the towing package with transmission and power steering cooler, rear mud guards (not flaps) and crossbars all installed for 700.00. We paid 30,910 for the Pilot and got all available options i.e. leather, DVD, etc... We are in Fort Wayne, Indiana so I am sure there will be a slight difference in price, but hopefully that gives you an idea. Good luck.

Boch, although they can be very pushy and have a reputation for playing games.
  • alexthemanalextheman Member Posts: 4
The deal was worked online, with the fleet manager. Basically he matched and beat other offers from 2 other dealers in Houston that were just for $100-$200 more. They had about 20 Pilot's or so on their lot. Not that many compared to other dealers that had more than 70 or 80 Pilot's on their lots.
  • sksjedisksjedi Member Posts: 33
    Alextheman,

Can you please clarify the numbers? what was the invoice price? Did you get any accesories?
Also, what was the name of the dealership?
    Appreciate it.

Anyone have any luck on negiotating on the accessories? fog lights, backup sensors, side steps, etc. I have the prices from the web (cheaphondaparts.com) and they are at least 50% of what the quotes i am getting, but that does not include installation. What would be a fair installation cost?
  • scottescotte Member Posts: 1
    Hi Rick(er),

Just curious where you are in NC and who your dealer is? I'm negotiating a deal for an EX-L for $29,639, but I have a trade that I'm getting a good price on.

One other question for you or anyone reading this. I want the ability to tow. The price they gave me for the towing prep (Power steering and AFT coolers) was $635 installed. Do you know if that sounds about right? Any recommendations for after market towing packages once I get the prep installed?

    thanks,

    Scott
  • alexthemanalextheman Member Posts: 4
    Well,

The breakdown for the price is as follows

    - MSRP $30,635 (including destination). It used to be $30,435 before 3/1/2005

    - Invoice $27,661 (including destination). It used to be $27,432 before 3/1/2005

    - Price paid $26,500 (including destination)

    - 6.25% taxes + Licence + tags + $50 Doc. fee = $1,895

    - Total out of door = $28,395

No extra accessories or add-ons. Got almost the same offer from David McDavid, Goodson North, and Streater Smith. Gillman Fort Bend, Russell&Smith were pretty close and willing to match other offers.

    Good luck
  • jansoljansol Member Posts: 1
Sorry, but what dealer did you buy from? Great Info. Thanks.
  • chernikicherniki Member Posts: 2
That's $1,435 better than a quote I got here in NJ
  • chernikicherniki Member Posts: 2
I have a quote for 36 months/15,000/yr for $440/mo, with $1,200 out of pocket at inception. Fair deal?
  • donniegdonnieg Member Posts: 2
I finally purchased a Pilot EXL w/DVD for McDavid Honda on the Gulf Freeway in Houston, TX

    The specifics:
    Sticker $34,335
    Quote $30,595

    Inventory Tax $81.84
    Sales Tax $1912.19
    Registration Fee $72.30
    Title Fee $33.00
    Inspection Fee $21.75
    Service Fee $5.00
    Document Fee $50.00

    OTD $32,771.08

I felt that the price was fair and close to what others in the area were getting so I decided to negotiate on add-ons was able to get them to throw in and install:

    Cargo Tray
    Cargo Net
    Wheel Locks
    Splash Guards

McDavid did not have the color combination I wanted (Nighthawk Black/Saddle) so they traded with another dealer to get the exact Pilot I was looking for. After the first dealer flaked out on the trade they continued to work and find another dealer with the Pilot I wanted and never tried to pressure me into taking another option. This was all done at the dealer's expense and they never tried to charge me for trading and transferring the vehicle. All in all the whole transaction was very smooth and a pleasant experience.

The finance manager quoted me Honda Care for $1400 but when I told him I could buy it online for $850 he immediately dropped his price to $867. I still declined.

Thanks to everyone who has contributed input on this forum. I've been lurking for months and the information I've obtained from here was a valuable tool in my purchasing experience.

I have reached fair price with the dealer (I will post the detail later), but the vehicle has 26 mi on it. I can choose different one with 10 mi, but of different color.

Should I be concerned with the mileage put during the test drives? I am asking this because all cars have to go through the break-in period, during which you want to take it easy on the car.
  • qbrozenqbrozen Member Posts: 33,755
26 miles is nothing. I wouldn't sweat it one bit.

    Total charges: 1331
    of which Destination 515

    Total came to 31589.

This included 2 yr free oil change and lube, mudguards, wheel locks and pinstripes.

Took delivery of an '05 Honda Pilot EX-L, Sagebrush Pearl last Sunday (3/13) from Sheehy Honda in Alexandria, VA. I'm happy to share specifics (salesman's info, etc.).

    Here are the broad strokes.

We paid $29,000.00 for the car, plus tax (3.17%), tags (+/- $80)licensing ($ ?) and processing fee ($289).

I added running boards, all weather mats, cargo liner and separation net for $1200 installed (including tax).

Overall we are happy with the deal, which worked out to around $600 under invoice. I probably could have gotten a few hundred more off by shopping around, but this dealer is 3 miles from our house. I also hate to waste time going from place to place so for the little money I may have left on the table, I'm happy.

I probably could have done a little better on the accessories if I had more time, patience, and the ability to install the running boards myself, but in the grand scheme of things it seemed a fair price. The accessories have yet to be installed.

We also got 3.9% financing which was nice.

I'd be happy to hear whether the rest of you folks think this was a fair deal.

Looking forward to owning a reliable, capable car for many years.

Purchased an 05 Pilot EX-L in steel blue on 3/5/05 from our local dealership after requesting "internet quotes" from 5 dealers.
    Here are the numbers:
    $ 28,867.00 purchase price
    $ 395.00 dealer fee
$ 5.00 fla waste tire fee
    $ 1.50 battery tax
    6% sales tax
    $ 2.00 lemon law fee
    $ 65.00 license and title

We did not purchase any dealer accessories and were out the door in 2 hours.

What was your Out The Door cost?
Was there any other cost tied into the deal? Lo Jack, 100k Warranty, Service?

I also live in San Diego and will drive up this weekend (3/20th) to Santa Margarita to bargain with Family Honda. I'm looking for a similar Pilot. EX-L, Steel Blue but without the RES.

    Thanks for your help.
Could I use your name as a reference?

I'm looking to purchase a Pilot EX-L and I live in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area. I'm fairly new to this board so I don't have a lot of history with it, but does anyone have any information or insights into the ability to get a competitive price in Minnesota or Wisconsin. I've been very impressed with many other deals I have seen on this board, but have noticed that they are not in my area. Thanks.

buck0086 - looks like you and I are the only ones on here from the Twin Cities. I posted a similar question a while back and nobody answered then either.

One thing I can say - don't go by the Edmunds TMV prices, since they are ridiculously high. People are getting $2000 or more below it one here, like the post above mine did.

I can say that for the Twin cities dealers, all have about 30 Pilots on the ground, except Hopkins, which has about 60. They should be dealing with this much inventory.

I plant to wait until April to see if any incentives come up (financing mainly). Let me know how you do. My email is public, so you can email for more info too (Edmunds doesn't allow posting salespeople's names, etc).
