Boy this forum has been great with getting tips on how to negotiate best lease. Looking for residual and money factor for NJ automatic Touring. 36 month. Either 10 or 12K.
And to make sure I understand how to use these numbers - if I have an MSRP of about $21,600 (that includes delivery which I think I read does get included when calculating residual), and negotiated price of about $19,000 - I'd basically be paying approximately $6000 in depreciation (based on residual of about $13000 using .60 residual) + TTL + interest? And that should be what I'm aiming for in a lease?
Haven't decided what I'd want to put down but if I understand that's pretty irrelvant to the underlying deal (should just lower by about $30 per month per $1000 OOP?)

Apologies - sedan. Thought I had listed everything. Forgot the two different versions.
Trying to be realistic for what I'm seeking for a lease (really like the car - but unexpectedly buying it due to our au pair totalling our current one - no one hurt and not her fault . . .). The first dealer seemed SO far above what I was expecting ($275 month with $2000 down - walked out of there fast). But based on what I'm reading here and looked up online, it seems with a $19000 negotiated price, a $13,000 residual (based on $21,600 MSRP), I really should be looking at about $210 month plus tax if the MF is about .00125. Just want to make sure I'm not missing anything or able to catch things they may try to throw in extra there that are negotiable. I know doc fees and title and license should be about $400 but not sure if I should legitimately expect anything else. (And obviously I'll recalculate my numbers above based on what you say the real residual and MF are.)

Just the i. Love the S but will be replacement for an au pair car so don't need the extra (see my edit to my first message above to let me know if I seem to understand how to use the numbers you'll give me).
New au pair coming soon is coming from South Africa where they drive on other side of road so really like the added safety features of the Touring otherwise would have stuck with the lower trim.

Sorry but could I get one more from you? The i GT hatchback manual for 12k/36. The dealer is telling me $357/month with 7.125% tax. The msrp is $24040 and cap cost is $23000, that monthly payment seems high to me.

$275/mo. plus tax.. Probably marking up the money factor.

I just looked at TrueCar today (May 2) for a lease estimate on an s Grand Touring hatch, 36mo/12k. They are listing a pre-tax estimate of $295-302. Is this realistic? I don't know how accurate TrueCar lease estimates are.

Us either. Best approach is to negotiate the best selling price and ensure the dealer doesn't mark up the MF. That will get you the best lease payment.
Hi, can I have the May numbers for Connecticut for i Touring Hatch, 36/15? I have a quote for $350/mo with only first month's payment out of pocket, .00058 money factor and 54% residual. Thanks!

That is very high in my opinion... I've always done $2k down, but my 2012 i Grand Touring hatch is only $250/mo including tax on a 36mo/12k. I was also just quoted a 2015 s Touring hatch for $305 including tax on same 36mo/12k/$2k. Even with only the first payment down ($350), you should not be anywhere near $350 for an i Touring. Consider using Edmunds' price promise and go to a high rated dealer, even if it's not the closest one. The only place I've found to really estimate lease payments without having to do calculations yourself is TrueCar.

54% and .00008 are the numbers ... dealer is inflating the MF on you for extra profit.
We'd need to know the MSRP and selling price to model a payment.

I just did a quick estimate on TC. With $0 down, the i Touring hatch (automatic) should be around $279 pre-tax. With CT tax you should be just under $300. That is with $0 down. You might as well do $0 down instead of first payment, unless you have more to put down. $1000 down should lower that around 20 dollars per month. These numbers assume a 36mo/12k lease, with a competitive selling price below MSRP. There may be some regional price differences, but I am in MA and there shouldn't be a significant different across the state line... Also remember these numbers are just estimates I've calculated, but I feel they are realistic.
As Michaell said, the dealer is likely inflating the numbers, but without the MSRP it's tough to know for sure. If you use Edmunds' Price Promise, you can lock in a low selling price, which will affect the lease rate. Don't be afraid to shop around to another dealer.
