I just got back from the Mazda dealer. They offered me this lease deal on the Mazda 3 i sport sedan. Would somebody look at these numbers and tell me if they look like a good lease deal? Thank you.

So I got another quote from a different dealer, but it's a different car. 2015 Mazda 3i Touring with Entertainment Package, plus they were throwing in the Navigation SD card ($300 at dealer I think) for free. Here are the numbers per their quote, please let me know if this is good, thanks again!:

I'd guess total tax is just that.... it's the tax for the payments and upfronts. Informational and not a line item.
This dealer is marking up the money factor from .00001. Also, I get a payment of $213/mo.+tax, which seems significantly less than $249.
Also, the i Touring Sedan has $600 in lease support that the GT doesn't have. It should be a lot cheaper.

Whats a navigation card?
Hope I don't get flagged for this, but it's an SD card that has, I'm assuming, map of United States provided by TomTom and if your model doesn't come with navi already, this card should fix that problem by using the heads-up display in the center console. The SD card goes in the armrest from what I remember and uploads info to the display. Card can be found on ebay - Disclaimer: Do your own investigation on this, don't listen to me.

You are absolutely correct about using -ish numbers. Dealer isn't being terribly forthcoming. Acquisition is $650. I just don't see the inaccuracies bumping the payment up almost $60 a month. I have asked probably 3 times and confirmed with the dealer that $1667 included all taxes and fees, but this does seem a bit low.
Well this is just getting stupid. The Mazda 3 lease deal at the Boise, Idaho dealer was $178 a month plus tax, zero down except for first month's payment and $14 title fee. I did not do it because I am indecisive. I contacted the dealer yesterday to see if the leasing numbers are still valid, and he said the leasing deal has gotten better. It is now $166 a month zero down with only first month's payment and $14 title fee. This is for a Mazda 3 i Sport with an MSRP of $20,515. How is this price even possible? The salesman assures me it is on the up and up. No qualifiers (except for approved credit) needed. Nobody else even comes close. I think I have to do it. What are your thoughts?

Must be a heck of a selling price to get that payment.
Not really a great selling price. The numbers break down like this. 20,615 MSRP 18,249 Selling price -600 lease cash. +595 lease acquisition fee +299 dealer doc = 18,543 net cap 12,575 residual (61%) .00001 Money Factor.

I get $166/mo before tax with those numbers. Seems like a pretty good deal on a car that stickers for almost $21K.
That's exactly what it is $166 a month, plus $10.00 tax, so a total of $177. It seems like a good deal but I still struggle pulling the trigger. Let me axe you a question. When I went into the dealer last week I got a quote of $178 plus tax. And this week it has gone down even more to $166 plus tax. Yet surprisingly, the net cap is higher on the new lower monthly payment. The net cap on the new lower monthly payment is 18,534 whereas the net cap on last week's quote was $17,894. The reason for the lower monthly payment despite the higher net cap is the residual has been raised to 61% whereas the first quote was 58% (or close to it). So is the higher net cap going to effect me in anyway... say, for example, if I choose to buy the car at the end of the lease. Likewise is the higher residual going to effect me negatively if I choose to buy the car at the end of the lease. My little pea brain blew a circuit trying to figure this out. I finally gave up.

Yes.. if you intend to buy the car at the end of lease, then the higher residual will result in a higher price.
If your intention is to buy the car, then why lease? If you want to lease, that's a great payment, what are you waiting for?
General indecisiveness is the issue. Although I appreciate all you do, I wish this forum was more interactive with more people chiming in; perhaps then I could get advice or guidance. I am not sure I like the Mazda 3. Sometimes I think its looks gorgeous, sometimes I think it looks like the earlier Mazda 3 model, which i hated. I am not sure I like the colors available. I am not sure I should be buying a new car when I already have quite a bit of credit card debt. I am not sure if perhaps I would like a different car more, such as the boring Toyota Corolla, which comes in my favorite color, metallic green, or the Optima which i can get for the same lease price. All these questions are making a decision very difficult.
Also, the car I like the most is the VW Beetle in the moonrock silver color. But the best lease deal they were able to work out for me is $258 per month with zero down. The salesman made a good point, he said most people regret not getting the car they really want, and settling for something with a lower payment. They could get the Jetta down to $164 a month with zero down, but not the Beetle. All these questions.

These are all good questions ... and, ones I don't have any answers to. Only you can decide what you like, what you're willing to live with and what you can afford.
I could grab a bunch of regulars on these forums to weigh in on your situation, but frankly it will probably confuse you more.
However, when you're spending this much money, I've always felt that it's important to get exactly what you want, regardless of whether it's the best deal.
I did that about 10 years ago - I wanted a V6 sedan and ended up getting a Saturn that offered 0% financing instead of the Honda that was a couple thousand dollars more. While I liked the Saturn well enough - 7 years and 90,000 miles - I always felt like I should have gotten the Accord.
Thanks for your reply. I just don't think I am going to get the Mazda 3. It is only $166 a month, zero down. But I spent some time with it last night at the dealership after hours (luckily one of the cars was open), and I decided I just don't think the car is very attractive. The hood appears as if it was grafted onto the front of the car, and the dashboard had a pointy top which really makes it feel tacky. I am going to either lease a Mini or a Beetle. I will likely have to pay about $80-90 more per month, though.

Yep, the Beetle and the MINI do not sell in the same numbers as the 3, so don't have as good of lease deals on them.
But, I think you will enjoy either one of them much more ... we've had a '99 Beetle and my daughter has had two MINIs, and I can vouch for the fun to drive factor.

I am rolling in everything except 1 month payment. I was quoted a total of $1667 for TT&L.
The payment I am getting quoted is $279. I think I should be around $230. Does any of this make sense?
If I add $1667 to the sale price, I get about $220/mo.
Of course, using -ish numbers often leads to inaccurate estimates... plus, what about acquistion fee, etc?
