I went to my local dealer today in Connecticut. I'm looking at a 2015 Mazda 3 Hatchback I Touring, automatic trans. with the technology package - 12K/36 months. Here's what they gave me.

MSRP 23,955
No Discount, but they're waiving the Doc. fees & the acquisition fees, therefore; the
sale price is still 23,955
Down pmnt 0
Sales tax 6.35%
MF = .00017
RV = 57%

*They quoted me a monthly payment of $350.72 which includes tax.

This is a bad deal, correct? When I calculate the numbers I get a payment of $311, which still
seems high to me.

Please advise. Thank you in advance!!

I get $311 as well, which is a lot for a Mazda. Try a different dealer; you should be able to score a good discount from sticker on a 2015 - the 2016's are just around the corner.

Modern Mazda in Thomaston, CT. The salesman was very nice and informative, but I think the finance manager came up with the numbers. We really liked the salesman too bad the numbers are out of whack.

If I add in all the fees to the sales price, and assume a tax rate of 6.35% I get a payment of $275.51/mo. Somewhere there is $250 or so buried in the deal.

The 36/12 numbers for the 2015 Mazda 3 Sport Sedan (automatic?) are 59% and .00001. $800 lease cash is available.

IL taxes the monthly payment, not up front.

Using your MSRP and cap cost, I get a payment of $212.38/mo with tax.

I think you can get a bigger discount from sticker before applying the lease cash. - both of those should lower your payment.

The residual value is fixed by the bank, but does differ based on how many miles per year you want. If the 15K residual is 59%, the 12K residual would be 61% and the 10K residual 62%.

Those adjustments (+2% for 12K and +3% for 10K) are standard for Mazda and pretty standard for most manufacturers.

The residual percentage is applied to the bottom number of the window sticker - base price + options + destination.
