    Hello everyone,

We live in the Albany, NY area and have been shopping around for a 2004 EX. All quotes that I have got have been at the MSRP of ~$23000. I find that the TMV price in this area is ~ $22500. Has anyone been able to get that with dealerships around the Capital District area ?

    Thanks!

Just drove my baby home! Gotta love that new car smell!
Here's what I paid for a 2004 Mojave Mist Metallic EX Auto with Hard Spare Tire Cover added:
Total Selling price (inc. dest)= $21,770
    OTD including TTL = $23,368
Texas State Sales Tax = 1360
    Vehicle Inventory Tax ? = 56.60
    License & Registration = 104.30
    State Inspection = 21.75
    Documentary Fee = 55.00
3.89% APR for 60 months with $0 down
May not be the best deal out there - but, I was happy with it.

I just got a deal from Bay Ridge Honda for 2004 CR-V EX auto (nighthawk black) for $22280. This price includes destination charge, wheel locks & upgrade security system.
    Retail: $22280.00
    Tax(8.625%): $1897.50
    Registration & other fees: $200
    Total expense: $24377.50
    3.9% APR for 60 months

im still not sure if this deal is fair, but other dealers couldn't match that price.

I am interested in buying a 2004 CRV Ex with foglights. Any idea of the going price in Minnesota. I do have costco membership and I am suppose to get a discount with that but I have no idea how much.
  • pdennis1pdennis1 Member Posts: 2
Does the price for the extended warranty differ from state to state? Does anyone know what the price for a 7 yr/100,000 would be appoximately? Is the warranty also something to negotiate. My salesman was very vague abut the price stating it goes between 900 to 1200 dollars.

    ThankS!

    To mvnlll-

At which dealership in Southern California did you purchase your CRV-EX? We negotiated for over two hours and couldn't get lower than $23,500 OTD.
  • stevedebistevedebi Member Posts: 4,098
I got my 2003 at Kolby Honda in Reseda. It went for about 22.5K (I had a trade in, so it's difficult to really calculate these things).
  • stevedebistevedebi Member Posts: 4,098
The extended warranty varies from dealer to dealer, even in the same state. I have seen it available on the internet for around $900. I got my dealer to match the price. This is for 7 years/ 100K/ zero deductable. If your dealer offers $900, I think that is a fair price.

Bought the silver little beast one week ago at Renton (WA) Honda. They dealt fairly straight forward (versus all flavors of other dealers).

$21,750 plus 9.1% sales tax and $198 title and registration. Only dealer added option was rear mud-guards.

CR-Vs are not advertised with prices in the Northwest. All the dealers originally "offered" MSRP on internet quotes. I showed them Chicago ads and other Midwest price quotes to melt them a little. Ultimately I had to play them against each-other and am very satisfied with the deal.
  • stevedebistevedebi Member Posts: 4,098
I'm pretty sure it was front mud guards? Rear are standard.

Congrats on your purchase, sounds like a good price...

I bought my 2004 CR-V at Fair Honda in Danbury, CT.

    Price: $19710.00
    Dest : $490.00
    Fog Lights: $485(installed)

The professionalism exhibited by the sales staff definitely contributed to a pleasant buying experience.

What was your MSRP? How much of a discount off of MSRP did you get? Also, did you have any dealings/experiences (good or bad) with any other Seattle area dealers? Thanks.
  • philli5philli5 Member Posts: 4
MSRP was $23,050 so about $1,300 off. The second set of mudguards was also included (probably front but both sets look the same). I had internet bids from Beaverton and Dick Hannah in the Portland area and South Tacoma and Bellevue in the Puget Sound area. Bellevue came down off from MSRP after I left the dealership. Their dealings had some mis-statements, sort of the old-school dealership. They also didn't want my old 94 mini-van which was practically worthless. Renton cut to the price after a few number trades. They also took the old van with a bad engine and transmission. A big factor may have been shopping on the last days of the slowest month. End of December should be good also.

i bought mine today for $21,100.00 (including the $490.00 destination charge) plus $45.00 doc fee, tax and title. i had financing in place but honda offered me 3.99% so i took it. i solicited internet bids and was amazed at the quick ( and surprisingly low $$) responses. easiest car buying experience ever...
    $23,118. OTD

    Robertson Honda was very professional.

Paid $22340, plus tax. 2004 EX Auto with no extras. John Elway Honda in Westminster, near Denver, CO. They are a no-haggle dealership but I was able to get $700 off MSRP+destination due to my wife's Sam's Club membership. They also gave me way more than Blue Book for my 11-yr-old trade-in, essentially shaving off another $200-300, and 3.34% financing for 48 months. I'm pretty satisfied given the fairly hot status of CR-Vs in the area.

I'm interested in purchasing a '03 or 04 CR-V. Does anyone knows a good price to pay in Atlanta, GA?

I've been quoted between 22K-27 for an Ex. I would love to pay what some of you have paid.
  • colocrvcolocrv Member Posts: 1
Paid $21,950 for an automatic EX. Price included everything except sales tax at 7.5%. (Didnt trade in a vehicle). I haggled with all the internet managers in the greater metro area for a couple of weeks. Ended up buying at Burt-Kuni Honda in Centennial. Also came with mud guards and 2 season passes to Winter Park ski area. I've been very happy with the vehicle thus far. I found some dealers in this area very willing to negotiate and a couple would hardly budge. Was close to buying from John Elway Honda(they did negotiate from their no-haggle price with me), but preferred the salesman's service at Burt. As for me, I'm glad I dealt strictly with internet managers and shopped all the competition....saves time and you get a better deal.

Hello, I've decided on a CRV EX 2002 and would like to go to the dealer armed to the teeth. So here's my question: Does Edmund's TMV prices include TAX?(seeing as the querry is made by Zip code). Thanks for an informative forum. Stanford.
  • tidestertidester Member Posts: 10,059
Edmunds.com's TMV does not include tax. Nor does it include rebates and license or registration fees. You can read all about how TMV is calculated here.

If you are planning on buying an extended warranty for your new CRV, go to curryhondacare.com 1st. They are a Honda dealer that sells the Honda extended warranty over the web. The current offer for 7yrs/100K no deduct is 1040 for 2004 CRV, however they will send you email offer for additional $90 off, or $950 total. I printed out the $950 offer when I went to buy my CRV and pulled it out after being offered a "special" price of $1150. The sales manager was surprised to see I shopped the warranty. He beat the $950 price by more than $50.

Pays to do a little research before going in!

bought a 2004 CR-V EX Chianti Red Pearl with mudguards, wheel locks (i think these come as default with the EX) and Side Step for $22300.00 out the door price(including dest charge, VA tax 3.16%, dealer processing fee, Tags).

was offered extended warranty for 995 - 6 yrs or 100000 miles (this is a 3rd party offer not from Honda Care which is usually 7yr/100000) and GAP insurance for $500.

The buying experience was ok,The dealarship name is ROSENTHAL HONDA @ Vienna, VA and these guys have free 2years of oil change included for any car/suv purchased from them.

Good luck for future buyers, happy hunting. would be happy to answer any of your questions.

Just bought a CRV-EX silver (auto) with 11 miles on it at a North Texas Honda dealer (Bankston Honda).
The sticker price was $23,040, bought with $20,800 (including destination) + TTL.
    Edmunds invoice-$21,320
    Edmunds TMV-$22,318
Mine is $520 below the invoice. Was it a good deal? If it was, it could be the reason of year-end sale.
  • isellhondasisellhondas Member Posts: 20,342
Someone buys a high demand low supply CRV for 520.00 BELOW invoice (really?).

Then they come here and ask..."Was it a good deal?"

    What am I missing?
  • tidestertidester Member Posts: 10,059
    What am I missing?

Perhaps George didn't realize the CR-V is "a high demand low supply" vehicle.

  • georged7georged7 Member Posts: 4
Someone is jealous of my deal! Did you see the message #364 that someone got a LX with only $17,570.00 + TTL that was $342 below invoice?
    (firsttimer5 Oct 2, 2003 12:07am)

However, I would like to clear that my deal was $520 below the Edmunds invoice-$21,320 since I didn't see the specific invoice for my CRV. I think the Edmunds invoice was very close to the real one.

You are not missing anything. If you think it is a steal and you can't resist it, just go for it. If you are in Dallas area, I am sure (but not guarantee) that you can get a better deal at least by $50 with my referral if you purchase one before the end of the year. There are still a few of EX models out there.

By the way, my purchase experience was very pleasant. The sale persons were very nice, and the transaction was very smooth. No tricks at all.

    Hope my experice is helpful.

    Good luck!
  • isellhondasisellhondas Member Posts: 20,342
We already have a 2003 EX.

I guess the market must be horrible in other parts of the country because your deal, quite frankly sounds too good to be real.

Assuming you aren't confused or pulling our leg, I wonder if there was a trade involved. a desirable trade where they saw the potential to make up for the loss?

Otherwise it simply does not make sense.

But, congratulations! If the facts are for real, you did quite well!
  • georged7georged7 Member Posts: 4
Thanks for letting me know that I had a good deal on my first Honda.

There was no trade-in involved in my deal. I am sure the dealer makes profit on most deals even the prices are under invoices. As I understand that 'Holdbacks' is a kind of deal between dealerships and manufactures. For example, some Toyota dealerships in Texas advertised several models $1000 under invoices during last May to October. My deal was propably due to year-end sale or overstock in the dealership.

    Regards.
  • isellhondasisellhondas Member Posts: 20,342
Even with a bit of holdback considered, it was a loser deal. If he is, in fact, overstocked with CRV's something sems funny.

Toyota may have dealer cash back on some models...I don't know.

I suppose that dealer could sell all of his cars for loser deals. It just makes no sense.

Anyway...relax, you get better than a good deal.

Now the others here will expect the same or even less....Good Luck!

I just bought a white CRV EX Auto for 21,800. I had two other dealers quote $21,500 but this one gave me a better deal on my trade in (2000 EX Coup)by a significant amount. In this area (NJ) it doesnt seem anyone is going much below 21,500.
  • hondausrhondausr Member Posts: 4
    George,
you got a hell of a deal, for those who are planning or considering buying a CR-V just take his price sheet or buyers quote and try to match with your local dealer.

its a YMMV, but hey no harm in trying and especially before 31st of dec they tend to sell for that price.

George, i worked on my CR-V based on edmunds price and inputs from other people here.
  • dondadadondada Member Posts: 15
After reading the subsequent posts, there seems to be some disbelief as to the price you paid for your CR-V. I know there are good deals out there and it's just a matter of doing proper research and being an informed consumer.(See post #485).No trade in was involved, I was in and out of the dealership in under an hour.I don't think that the "end of year mentality" played any major role in your purchase price as I got mine in October.Congratulations on your purchase Sir, you had an outstanding deal.
  • isellhondasisellhondas Member Posts: 20,342
I'm not yelling "foul" here but people must remember that not everything posted on an internet chat board should be taken as gospel.

I have seen a lot of shoppers become extremely frustrated when we can't do an impossible deal.
  • 3rdpath3rdpath Member Posts: 8
Having recently purchased an '04 ex/auto for $21,100 plus ttl, i'll attest that there are good-no haggle-deals to be had...

Last week I even saw a dealer's ad for all '04 ex/auto's for $20,800.00( if i remember correctly). I didn't save the ad since i've already got my car....guess i'm one of those compulsive-gotta check my deal-sorta people.

BTW, looks like honda is now running 3.9% financing on all models.

oh, did I mention I love this car?...Drove it through last week's floods and it stuck to the road like glue. Hope to have it in snow on New Years day.

I've been looking at the CR-V while I await the final disposition on my Hyundai lemon arbitration and the lots are stuffed full of them down here in Orlando. I mean dozens and dozens, off-lot storage lots full of them, all colors, both models, all kinds of accessories. I haven't gotten to haggling yet, but they certainly aren't selling for anywhere near sticker judging by the ads.

It might also be that we have about a half dozen honda dealers in the Orlando area.

Thanks to ALL of you who have posted your CRV buying experiences. What a great website. This information along with getting a copy of the invoice & dealer holdback info. helped me negotiate the following deal in So. Calif. 12/29/03.

$20,794 base price (no accessories purchased), $45 document fee, $1,615 tax (7.75%), $181 license, and $5 tire fee.

    $22,640 out the door

Just for comparison info, there is a Cleveland area dealer advertising $18,095 for the LX FWD. MSRP is $19,490. Edmunds TMV for this area is $18,986. Of course the ad doesn't mention the fact that it is a FWD model.........
  • buyerinvabuyerinva Member Posts: 1
I'm not sure how people on this forum are getting such great deals. I only had a couple of days to pick up a CR-V EX Auto in the Virginia Beach Area, and had no trouble getting a bit below Edmund's TMV. However, I found it difficult to negotiate much below.

    Edmund's TMV was: $22,400
    My Price: $22,375
    (This includes $490 Destination)

I found only 3 dealers in a 100 mile radius of Virginia Beach with more than 1 or 2 CR-Vs on the lot. I ruled out one of those dealers due to their lack of ethics. Only one had the color I wanted (Blue).

I'm sure I could have worn them down a few hundred to, say, $22,000 or so if I had spent the entire day at the dealer. But I would rather spend my time doing other things, even at the cost of a few hundred bucks.

However, I have no idea how people on this board are getting prices as low as $21,200 or so. It is interesting to note that Kelley Blue Book's (www.kbb.com) price range for this car is $22,582 - $23,038. (This is the most common price paid for this car for this area.) Kelley's lowest range is still a bit above Edmund's TMV.

For those getting great deals, I would like to know how long you haggled and how many times you walked out of the dealership.

re: haggling. i did zero haggling.

i'd been watching the ads for awhile then got all the edmunds info. i solicited 4 internet price quotes and simply chose the lowest. it seemed incredibly low compared to most of the posts here and the edmunds data.

i could've played one dealer off the other but
    a) i thought the deal was fair
    b) i hate haggling...i don't have the time for it.

i spent an hour at the dealership and was outta there with the car. sweet!

In my case I was not impressed with the internet bids received. I waited until the last week of the year, went to 2 dealers in person with my offer of $20,643 (invoice of $20,830 plus $490 destination less $677 dealer holdback). I took a copy of the invoice which also showed the dealer holdback; both dealers made a copy of this so I think it was a factor.

I told both dealers I intended to buy a vehicle that day, which was true. If they couldn't make the deal I would just move on to the next dealer. The 1st dealer would not consider my bid (he offered $100-$200 under invoice), however he offered to match or beat a better offer if I came back. I offered the 2nd dealer $20,643; he countered at $20,943 and we agreed at $20,794 in less than 1/2 hour. Little or no haggling. In my case I think timing was key (end of the month, end of the year), having a copy of the invoice, and be willing to move on if necessary. Oh and I had several people praying for me, too. I don't take that lightly. The Lord again provided.

Hi! I am a newbie, and expect to visit often. In the morning we will be proud owners! Deal nearly sealed after hours tonight, we pick up after financing is secured in the morning. Anyway, didn't do any research before hand, it was a last minute decision we paid 22,000 plus a 52. document fee in the Chicago area. The first bottom line price today was 22,700, then after a later appointment this evening they went down to 22 BUT are removing the dealer installed mud guards and some wheel lock,(LOL) I cant think of the name we have it on our truck. Since we didn't plan on buying one, we went in today looking at another accord 04 that had a great demo price, decided to drive the crv and loved it. Anyway, I am relived to see we didn't do that bad...its showing we paid a little under what others pay in the area. Anyway, thanks for listening to my excitement! I am a honda lover, we have owned 3 accords, a passport(pass stunk), and also a proud owner of a little hooptie 89 honda civic hatch back 130,000 and died a last week, needs only an alternator. Will donate that car tomorrow, its been real good. I trust Honda's! I am so excited to start driving a larger honda! OH, "sales man" said they had 25 in two weeks ago. There were only 5 left on the lot, they didn't have my first color choice. DH wasn't happy about the 22,000 price but really in our past experiences we never did have much luck getting honda dealers to drop much below sticker. I guess we need to keep in mind that they keep value.
