FYI, just took delivery of 2005 Midnight Blue FWD SL with Touring Package and Technology Package (Nav + backup camera). 42 month lease. $2000 drive-off (inc. taxes, reg, first month's payment). $398/month inc. tax.

Great "dealer" experience - did the whole thing via Cars Direct.com. They delivered the car to my house. 10 min worth of paper work.

OK, I have got my new MURANO, SL AWD, Fully loaded, Platinum exterior and Charcoal interior and love it so far. The MSRP was 40,200 and the invoice was about 36,350. I paid 36,150 since I have VPP from my employer and the price is fixed and no haggling. VPP pricing was one of the reasons for me to go with Nissan. So the dealer experience was good and I also took the extended warranty since I heard some stories about CVT and Alternator.

I like the ride, xenon head lights, NAV is cool. The backup camera is too cool, it even has the guide lines to indicate how close you are to an object. The stereo is good and sub woofer is nice. I love it so far.

Thanks for all the feedback on this forum.

I'm looking at 04 Nissa Murano SL AWD Leather, DVD (no Navi or Camera)

    They are quoting $31,500

I have bad negative equity on my trade:

    Ford Ranger 03 32,000 miles

    Owes $17,650

They say they are giving 11,000.00 for it.

Nissan Dealer (sip 75150) quoted $550/mo for 3 year, 15,000 miles lease with $3,000 down.

Also, I read in the forum that it's not wise to put a lot down on leased vehicle.

Am I completely getting into a wrong deal?

I'd appreciate your help so very much.

I got a 04' SE FWD for 25,200 in Houston, TX. It was as low as I could get any one to go. I emailed all the Nissan dealerships with exactly what I wanted and how much I wanted to pay. Only ONE place responded, Tom Peacock. Still a little more than I wanted to pay but it was the best I could get and I really do have better things to do than going to dealerships 10 times to try and save a little extra money. The only options it had were splash guards, carpet, and cargo protector. How much did others pay for the same vehicle with the same options?
  • jurekjurek Member Posts: 5
    $25,200 is a good price.

With the destination charge, any price under $26,120 would put a smile on my face based on my research.
  • jurekjurek Member Posts: 5
Paid $200 over invoice ($29,996) in Southern California. Invoice price included a few minor accessories.

I would advise all to take advantage of special pricing from places such as AAA or Costco. If your going to buy a car, join Costco, AAA or something similar first.

Also, I discovered there was a monopoly in my area. 2 primary dealers consisting of about 7 stores owned by the same company. Dealer A didn't really care if you want to Dealer B since they were owned by the same company.

When I researched pricing in a nearby county with about a dozen Nissan Dealers, I discovered the price was about $500 less.

    Great Vehicle so far.

Live in Chicago and got great deal on 2005 from Woodfield Nissan in Schaumburg. Platinum SL Touring with Latte int with cargo mat, floor mats, roof rail bars and flaps (plus wheel locks, VIN etch, and sunroof deflector) for $31590. Figured thats about $800 under invoice, so dealer basically gave all the holdback. They also gave me 3 years of oil changes, plus Woodfield will have a new free car wash for customers in a few months. Check them out.

Thanks for the info. on Woodfield Nissan!!

We are planning on purchasing one soon from Fairoaks Nissan in Gurnee and it is great to get real pricing numbers from a near by dealer to help with the neg. process.

I negotiated a good deal on a 2004 Murano 2wd SL with the Leather Package at $29,982. When it came down to financing I decided to go for a lease since they offered a great .00057 money factor for a non-Nissan lease. The Nissan website advertises 2% 60 month APR OR $1500 Rebate. My dealer told me the rebate doesn't apply to a non-Nissan. When I asked about a Nissan lease today they said the $1500 rebate doesn't apply to Nissan leases. In frustration I called Nissan's Consumer Relations department and they said that they don't know the terms of the rebate and that its up to the dealers. I sarcastically said "you mean if the dealer only wants to provide rebates on blue vehicles, thats ok?" No answer. I got a similar "I dunno" from Nissan Acceptance. What a scam these guys are running.

The bottom line is unless I hear from the local Nissan field rep by the end of the day, I am taking this to the State Attorney General.

Anyone else have the same experience?

I've read that there is a S Murano for 2005, which is a stripped version of SL.

Anyone had a chance to see how stripped this is? Could not find any in the Metro Detroit - Nissan dealers inventory, to see and test.

I also wonder if gas mileage is still so poor on this version, as it is for SL???

Price showing on edmunds looks pretty appealing...but how stripped off this car this?

    Thank you,

    Dan

".....I also wonder if gas mileage is still so poor on this version, as it is for SL???...."

    What!

Where did you here it's poor. It's probably one of the better in it's class for gas mileage.

They claim 20/25. In reality I've been averaging 18-19 and 23-24. No complaints.

    Hello, Dan --

Check Nissan's website --nissanusa.com -- for specs on S version. Of course, it depends on your definition of "stripped", but my feeling is that the S model is well-equipped. Dealer inventories here in Chicago show a fair number of Ss (Esses? what's the plural for this?) in stock.

The current Nissan lease deal for Murano SL AWD with Touring package is $359 mo. 42 mo., 12,000 miles/year, $1,999 down. $20,000 residual value - that helps a lot! Not bad.

No offense Jurek, even your numbers are lower then what's listed as official MPG of the Murano.

And read the other messages posted on this forum, regarding this issue.

Just FYI, a bulkier Dodge Caravan, that does not incorporate the best engine in its class, no VVT-i, no aluminum block and cylinder heads, no DOHC,no CVT tranny, no premium fuel, gets an average of 22-23 mpg. Just for that ,and Murano's MPG is very poor....in its class.

Even Engineers @ NTCNA in Farmington Hills, Mi, are aware of this issue. Seams that CVT is demanding the extra gas, instead of reducing the consumption...hmm,not quite what's advertised about CVT...

Why pay the extra for the Murano then?

Thank you Al, I was able to read the specs on S version. Most obvious "strippings" are the controls from the steering wheel and a few whistle and bells that did not excited me too much anyway.

Dealers in Metro Detroit are still selling full loaded Muranos... I guess demand is high and that explain high profits Nissan had last year :))

    2/27/2005 I just bought a S type - cloth interior.
    Things it doesn't have -
Automatic headlight - fog lights - high intensity lights - adjustable headlights - auto dimming rearview mirror - sun roof
It only has a 1 disc/am/fm radio with four speakers but sounds surprisingly good.

I'm in KY and paid right at 28,000 before tax. Not the best deal but I think it was average.
I don't know about the milage yet but think it will get 18 - 20 city. I'm still figuring out how to drive it best. It has a Drive - S feature that I'm unsure of.
It does have adjustable drivers seat (6 position I think) - adjustable foot pedals - duel side AC - heated side mirrors - All Wheel Drive - rear cargo net, tray and cover - The standard floating dash display - various electronic trip computers and display items that I haven't figured out yet.

Over all, I really like it. Very comfortable, stylish, and fun to drive. Just hope I remember to turn on my headlights!

We just got our Murano S last night. Had Convenience package, floor mats, cargo protector, cargo cover.

26350 after a lot of arguing. The dealing got kinda nasty there for a while. The dealer wanted to play with us, and my wife was not amused. No worries though, 100 over invoice (according to Edmunds and the dealer slip) is a good deal I think for an 05.

We love the Mo, and it looks a lot like my 350z! They look cute together in the garage.

Just put a deposit on an S AWD. Have been watching the local market (ny metro) for a good lease deal and my only prereq was the AWD. Total out of pocket about 2500 which includes 1st month and new registration (which in ny is about 200). Monthly payment of 298. I backed out the sell price and came to about 26,800, which is right about the dealer invoice. Curious as to other buyer experiences in this area and to whether or not my math is right...residual at 58%, money factor about 2.3%. Feel uncomfortable about laying out so much on a lease but liked the deal after looking hard and living on edmunds for the past month. Thoughts??? thanks...

Just purchased a Platinum SL AWD with Sunroof/deflector, Premium package, cloth interior, splash guards, carpeted floor and cargo mats and cargo net for 29773 at Suntrup Nissan in St. Louis. Also i paid 1370 for the 60month/100K warrenty that originally they offered it to me for 1875. MSRP was 33,510 and invoice was 30,863. I felt i got a pretty good deal being almost 1k under invoice. Now i spent 5 hrs arguing on price but got what i wanted. I would never shop there again cause the sale people were rude and made me wait 1.5 hrs for financing which went very smoothly.

Any idea what incentives might still be there for any new leftover 2004 Muranos? Thanks in advance!

I was told 2% and up to 1500 off from the dealer i purchased mine from.

For those of you out there shopping around in the S. FL area, Endicott Nissan of Pompano offers deals you can't beat.

Here is what I got from them:

05 SL FWD with Touring Package, Mobile Entertainment System, Floor Mats, Splash Guards and Cargo Protector. This came to $32,340. Invoice on this would have been $32,780 or so.

Here is my advice when going to any dealer. Go in with numbers in hand. Nissan Dealers get a $600 hold back on Muranos right now. This means that they are paying Invoice - $600. When you negotiate, tell them you know about the hold back, and that you want a portion of this. Some dealers are willing to deal, others aren't.

Endicott also gave me +$350 over Kelley B.B. on my trade in, another thing most dealers won't do. It seems they are more interested in moving cars by numbers, not by sale price.

Finally, without the DVD player (post factory installed), I would have payed $30,540 (Touring package and other accessories included). I gave them $1800 for the DVD player installation (something, that I could have had at another for $1350, but was paying about $2K more to buy it there).

Bottom line, have your numbers prepaired. If anybody wants to have the spread sheet I printed out and took to the dealer, I will give it to you. The only thing you will have to re-calculate and edit are your taxes and trade in numbers. You can also adjust your invoice price, sale price, etc... as you feel necessary. But if you go in and tell them somebody else gave you a "this price", and the price is below the $600 hold back, the dealer will know you are lying to him.

Email me at BHarbaugh@cfl.rr.com if you need more information!

    Thanks!

I'm taking a hard look at a Murano at Bommarito in St. Louis. They have one on special at $24,377 without leather. With leather but no sunroof or Bose system, $25,677. Anyone buy at Bommarito? Good deal as listed?
  • Kirstie_HKirstie_H Administrator Posts: 11,248
I can't comment on the pricing, but I've used Bommarito (in Ellisville) before and used them for service on my Infiniti I30. I was pleased with them. Another member flew up from Florida to purchase from them, and also reported a good experience (I believe he purchased an I35).

What was MSRP on the Murano at Bommarito. I spoke with the internet manager
there after i bought mine from Suntrup and he told me he would of sold it to me
for 500 cheaper than what i paid from them..So that would of been 1500 under
    invoice. In the St.
Louis area you should be able to get 3% under invoice. Lou Fusz and Suntrup
    offered both to me.

Hi, I'm having a Murano SL FWD for the weekend from my dealer to test drive, and I really like this ride.

Does anyone have any figures on how much they paid for their Murano SL FWD Base in Austin or Houston TX?

Intellichoice says the target price is $26,400, which is $200 above invoice. Also read about the $600 dealer kick back, so I hope I can get it at that price.

    Any help would be appreciated...

I'm new in here guys.I'm looking at a couple new AWD Muranos, ones a new 04 and ones a new 05.Both stickers are approx $35,000....if I try to deal on the new 04...how much more should the dealer knock off vs the 05? Any rule of thumb here?
Is there anything different or new to the 05,that would warrant buying an 05 over the leftover 04?? My money is tight,so this is my main concern.
    Thanks in advance.

    2005 SL AWD
    - Touring package
    - Splash guards
    - Floor mats
    - Roof rail crossbars
    - Sunroof wind deflector
    - Cargo area protector

    MSRP: $35,740
    Invoice: $32,592
    I paid: $31,799

Note that there is a $920 dealer holdback on the Murano (at this dealership anyway).

I bought the car from Tri-State Nissan in Winchester, Virginia, about a two-hour drive from Washington, DC. I HIGHLY recommend this dealership. They are straight shooters and my buying experience was extremely easy. I was in and out of the dealer in about an hour and a half.

I recommend gathering price quotes over the Internet before you actually go out to buy. I used the Nissan web site to check inventory at around 10-15 dealerships in the DC area. I then e-mailed them (through the site) to obtain quotes on specific cars in their stock. In the e-mail, I noted that I was aware of the dealer holdback (but didn't specify the exact amount). I received about 6 or 7 quotes, most of them under invoice. I then used these quotes as chips between dealers to get even lower quotes. The whole process took about 3 or 4 hours... mostly checking e-mail messages while doing other things. Very easy and painless.
  • gokadengokaden Member Posts: 28
Well, I made the dive and got an 05 Murano SL FWD for $26,200, which is invoice according to Intellichoice.

I also got the extended warranty for zero deductible 60 mo/ 75K miles with roadside assist, etc., theft gard, inside and outside protection, accident insurance, GAP insurance for $31/mo for 60 months. They wanted $70/mo for it initially without the inside/outside protection, but Ihaggled it down...

So, I'm really pleased with the service at Maxwell Town North Nissan, from Edzine. He was totally no hassle, also because he's the Internet Sales Manager.

The only thing they nessed up was the monthly payment calculations, which were $50/mo over...
  • gokadengokaden Member Posts: 28
Also, BTW, has anyone heard of the interior/exterior protection thing on the Murano?
I was asking my dealer if they had one, and he said yes, and that they Scotchguard the interior, and coat the exterior with some stuff to make it warrantied for 5 years against decreasing lustre.

However, I can't find it anywhere on Nissan's website.
  • dklaneckydklanecky Member Posts: 559
The general concensus on interior and exterior "protection" packages seems to be that they are just profit centers for the dealer.

It's been my personal experience that I can buy a can of scotchguard and apply it myself on the interior and that I can also wash and wax my own vehicle.

A lot depends on your personal habits. Do you care enough about your vehicles to wash them weekly and wax it twice a year? If so, then I'd say save your money.
  • gokadengokaden Member Posts: 28
Yeah, I agreee with you on the fact the exerior/interior thing is another way fo the dealer to make money.

Thankfully in my case, he threw it in for free, along with the 5 year warranty on paint and interior stains.

Better yet, if I cancel my extended warranty package, I still get to keep this, the gap insurance, and the 3 year dent repair.

I've heard Honda has some sort of Simoline Teflon coating that makes it impossible to for dirt or sap to stick to the paint surface.

    Hello,

We just purchased a 2004 Murano with 6K miles on it....SL AWD, touring and VDC packages for $29.895 (no financing) at Northshore Nissan in Highland Park, Il. We highly recommend this dealer. Only issue was the trade in which we sold privately, getting far more for it than any dealer offered. We also test drove the Toyota Highlander Limited....not nearly as luxurious inside and the ride was not as good on the exact same piece of highway.

    Cheers!

My wife and I are buying a 2005 SL AWD. With both of us having to share the car we had to make a list of exactly what we wanted, Touring Pack. Tech Pack. VDC Pack Specific Color. Sat Radio, basically loaded minus DVD system.
Sent out e-mail to three dealerships I visited plus some others in my area, Orange County, CA. What I got back was
responses saying they have found one car like the one I want for 38,590 MSRP. Has my bargaining power gone down since it appears they are all trying to obtain the same car? How do I approach this?
    Thanks for any help
    mwj
  • don731don731 Member Posts: 3
I would carefully consider all of your choices. Is there another color? Can you have the Sat radio installed later (we make do with the XM Roady in each of our cars)? Check the Nissan corporate website which allows for inventory searches. Also try carsdirect.com which can help you find a good deal. Are you members of Costco? Their car buying service starts with a quote from a local dealer $400 over invoice. We were quoted about 32500 (roughly invoice) for a new 2005, but got a much better deal on the leftover 2004 in a discontinued color (Pewter). Which dealer actually has the car you want? Go directly to that dealer and try to make the deal you want. Some more help may be available on nissanmurano.org which is an owners website.
Good luck! You will love owning a Murano!

2005 Murano SL base 42 month lease
    $299/mo plus 3.25%tax ($308.72 per month total)
    $999 down ($700 ccr + $299 first payment)
    no security deposit

Basically, I told the dealer what I wanted to pay on a lease, and he was able to knock net cap cost by $1,000.
  • waydewayde Member Posts: 198
That seems like an AMAZING lease deal (assuming 12k/year).
What is the net capitalized cost & the residual after 42 months?

Just purchased a '05 Murano SL with Touring Package as well as Floor Mats & Splash Guards from Dobbs Nissan in Memphis. Sticker was 33,810 and I paid 30,199. I went to the Nissan website and contacted several dealers for quotes. Played them against each other and was please with the outcome. Overall experience was good at Dobbs except for them trying hard to sell me GAP insurance, an extended warranty, and some type of theft insurance.
  • kflkfl Member Posts: 22
I test drove the SL AWD today with the Touring Package (absolutely freezing out here in Chicago) and it drove beautifully. Can get up to 48 months for 1.84% financing. Anyone know anything about Woodfield/Schaumburg Nissan.
  • mvs1mvs1 Member Posts: 462
Hello all. Recently leased an Audi A4 SE and now in the market for a crossover vehicle. The Murano looks very enticing due to the fuel economy when compared to similar vehicles as well as it's standard and available features. I'm also considering an RX330 and BMW X3 although the BMW consumes fuel at a higher rate. I received lease quotes (multiple monthly options and 12k, 15k mileage allowed) on a 2005 Murano SL AWD from several dealers in CT and figured I'd share the best. Under the 39 month it looks like they raised the money factor to make it less appealing. There is also a cash price and finance as well. Feel free to comment, your input is appreciated. (I'd like to know if these look good). The cash down is the total out of pocket at inception. The break down follows of that amount follows. Sorry about the long post.

    Hi,

    First time to this forum.

I got a 05 SE AWD yesterday. Did some research from carbuyingtips.com, kbb, edmunds. Got the touring, technology and dynamic control package besides the regular splash guard, cargo area protector &floor mats. The dealer had already done the window etching on all new cars, so ended pay $300 for it.

Invoice price on the car on edmunds and kbb is $35700. Got it for $35k. Total in road is nearly $38K.

Does it sound like a good deal?

    Thanks

At 35k if your options match my post above looks like you got a better deal then what I was offered. The SE I believe is priced a little high than the SL. Unfortunately people must not be buying these cars. This board is not too active.
